Two fundamental issues that Canadian politicians and media keep hidden from Canadians. First, in the 2025 U.S. Supreme Court decision last year about tariffs, the court outlined that the executive branch can constitutionally ban trade with another country. Second, the U.S. can exit the USMCA with a six-month notification.
There is an awful lot of pretending and gaslighting within this general discussion segment; purposefully advanced to keep the Canadian people in the dark. However, that said, Canada’s chief trade negotiator to the United States, Janice Charette does admit that tariff free access to the U.S market is lost forever.
Janice Charette is participating in a discussion at the Toronto Global Forum, where she is questioned by Brian Tobin, vice chair of the BMO Financial Group about the trade relationship with the United States and the opinion that many Canadian officials have espoused that Canada just needs to outlast President Donald Trump.
Charette informs the audience that regardless of who is the U.S. President, tariffs will likely remain in place permanently because the amount of revenue being generated to the U.S. Treasury is too great for any President or congress to stop. PROMPTED – WATCH:
While almost all of her analysis is flawed, skewed and seriously underestimates the nature of the dynamic that Canada is facing, what Janice Charette outlines about how Donald Trump has shifted the national revenue model using global tariffs to offset national expenditures (her baseline) is accurate.
Beyond her statement it is worth pausing for a moment and using Charette’s frame of reference to reconsider the post WWII European revenue model. It was/is President Trump’s model in reverse.
The Marshal plan, was essentially one-way tariffs on American trade that provided one-way benefits (revenue) that permitted the EU to rebuild after the second world war. To Charlette’s framework, how willing was the EU mindset to change this beneficial economic outcome?
Answer: The EU fought it (and is still fighting it), perceiving the elimination of that benefit as an existential threat to their economic power. The EU became reliant on the Marshal Plan.
In many ways Canada made the same economic mistake.
Canada legislated and built their economy around dependencies they never thought would go away.
They disassembled their dirty “carbon emitting” jobs. They took apart their energy foundation. They deindustrialized in an effort to join/lead the world in their virtue signaling around clean energy. Canada intentionally chose to take a series of steps to make their economy less independent, less strong and much less resilient; while worshipping at the altar of the “climate change” religion.
Tariff free access to the USA market, while combining non-tariff protectionist barriers to USA imports formed the foundation of this progressive system. Without the benefit of tariff-free trade with the USA, Canada could never have deindustrialized and become an economy dependent on: (1) shipping out raw materials for dirty processing in other countries; then (2) reimporting the finished component goods for assembly in Canada.
Finally, a person steps forth to stop this one-way benefit. Along came Donald Trump.
When Canada was told those USA dependencies will no longer be permitted and reciprocity will frame the new trade agreement, suddenly all those decades-long deindustrialized vulnerabilities surfaced. This is their current status.
That’s why former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told President-elect Trump the “reciprocity” demand was no longer feasible; which led to the 51st state response.
The current problem is that ‘elbow’s up’ Canada continues to maintain economic denial about their status.
Canada has raw materials, but Canada no longer has the willingness or capability to turn those raw materials into industrial scale products that later become component manufacturing goods. They are intentionally missing the industrial component because the processing itself emits dirty carbon outputs.
This is why we now see Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney selling off the assets of Canada.
Both Canada and Europe changed their energy systems for exactly the same ‘climate change’ reason, and both Canada and Europe are stuck inside the economic confines of their own creation.
China has done a masterful job exploiting that self-created vulnerability in both Europe and now Canada. What this generation is now discovering is that no amount of assembled soft power will ever be able to compensate for the hard power of industrial capacity.
The United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Australia and beyond will never be global powers again because they no longer have industrial capacity. They are no longer hard powers. This is the one point that all intellectually honest observers will notice.
The ‘soft powers’ are now in a situation where they are seeking alternative sources for their intentionally lost industrial capacity.
Thankfully, and I mean this in the sincerest way imaginable, the United States elected Donald Trump at just the right moment to remove us from this problem, or we would have been in the exact same position as Europe, Canada and Australia.
Simultaneous to this bullet dodged, it was only Donald Trump who drew significant enough attention to the problem so that other weaker persons in politics could realize the severity of the cliff we almost encountered.
Do not ever underestimate how fortunate we were. Without Donald J Trump the United States would have easily become just another larger version of a dependent soft power.
The term “service driven economy” ringing a bell?
Remember this when Trump, Xi and Putin get together next month.

Make Vermont Maple Syrup Great Again!
THE BEST.
My go-to…. VDS….very dark strong…..the artist formerly known as “B” grade…. 🥰
That’s funny.
Wonder if that’s the type of syrup the other formerly known as served with pancakes to Charlie Murphy and crew??
🤣….That’s some deep tracks right there….”Game!!…..Blouses.”😳😝
Charlie was funny.
Dave had it going on.
Watch the reruns a lot.

Most people will never ever know just how fortunate they are to be here. And at this time.
The Wired article about the progressive liberals fleeing to the EU and finding out it is not Utopia is a true slap in the face and hopefully a wakeup call to them.
I listened to it. Couldn’t open to read. The people commenting and posting about their experiences and making plans to return are now called right wing extremists by their followers. Pretty funny.
PDJT recognized long ago that what we were doing shipping industries out of country was crazy. Thank God he persevered.
I remember the first time I heard we were a “service economy”. When did we vote on that?
I think it happened at about the same time that our voting systems were fatally compromised, as well as our mainstream media. Not that they were ever perfect, mind you, but the graft was exponentially increased.
This was the time period that brought us poppy Bush’s New World Order. It was a big “we are the world” campaign and national sovereignty took a back seat.
This was also the timeframe during which big pHarma was provided a legal liability shield by CONgress. My theory is their depopulation agenda was exponentially increased as well.
Americans bent over and accepted their new “service economy” status as the border was opened to replace them with hordes of slave laborers. I guess we were placated by cheap junk when Walmarts replaced our downtown merchants toward this effort. Multinational corporations were also poised to gobble up all our banks, our pharmacies, our hardware stores and our hospital systems.
And let’s s not forget our farmlands, our educational systems and gubmint agencies of all kinds sacrificed to the siren song of globalism.
The COVID was to take out the American workers.so those unvaxed illegals could take the jobs.get paid less and rid these big corps of their pension liabilities .they didn’t figure most conservatives saw right thru their b.s.
Well that and see who was willing to comply and kill everyone and everything they could snooker into the death shot lines or hospitals.
“ would you like hot apple pie with that order to go?”
I remember it, too, and I was appalled.
thank you Sundance be well God Bless
Bet the people of Alberta will be regretting their vote on not separating here in the near future. Amazes me how effective the globalists brainwashing has been on the west.
The first thing Lenin did upon returning to St Petersburgh from exile in Switzerland following the abdication by the Czar was to use some of the money the Kaiser gave him to purchase a printing press. Propaganda media has always been effective. If you tell a lie often enough and with enough conviction, people will be convinced.
I doubt it. They will just blame us.
The Canadian regime will never let a province secede. We know several individuals up here that have or a planning a move to the U.S. A majority of we boomers have irreparably damaged our once great nation. You too were one election away from joining us. Cheers!
Dekester and his bride will be in Scottsdale next week to see the lay of the land. I will be looking for MAGA like paraphernalia
Cheers!😎💪
I’d rather have the people that love America and believe in its founding than any part of another country. All I can say is “welcome to America.”
Good luck to you and yours.
If Texas is in the mix, stop by Buffalo and enjoy the poor-man’s “Hill Country”. Would like to have ya.
It’s their decision. Lotsa luck, Alberta. Realistically, though, Canada would nevet have voluntarily let them go.
“Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.” — Thomas Jefferson
“Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence, (I conjure you to believe me fellow citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government.” — George Washington
In addition to worshipping at the “climate change altar” I would add that the EU; Canada; and, until President Trump, the USA, also ate at the “cheap immigrant labor” buffet. The EU rushed to the head of the line and we are fortunate that President Trump has reversed this insanity as well.
Now I wish he would take deportations a step further and remove all the H1Bs and H4s. Send them all home. Every last one.
The “cheap immigrant labor” scheme was more a scheme to import an electorate that would keep TPTB on top. But at the same time economically and culturally keeping separate from the native populations. France is finding out the hard way what happens when a population tipping point is reached, and I can see the UK and others following suit soon.
H1Bs, H4s: Pretty much agree.
We have AI to replace a lot of white collar work, and next year we will have humanoid robots capable of taking a lot of physical labor.
Just stepping in to suggest that white collar work, for all its benefits to middle class growth in the previous century, should be recognized as one of the least healthy forms of employment (that doesn’t actually outright kill a worker, like crab fishing or logging or combat).
Sitting on your butt indoors at a desk all day is anti-human. Computers only made it worse.
As a software guy, I mostly agree. I don’t have arthritis or similar workplace injuries, but sitting constantly close to a screen has not done good for my knees or eyes.
Absolutely true.
Maybe. We’ll see. Certainly that’s what pretty prophetic people like Isaac Asimov foresaw, which is why he developed his laws of robotics, Thus far no one has been interested in incorporating them into anything. And that is truly not good (and very telling).
I am basing my prediction of robots next year upon job listings at Tesla, who has been quietly working on humanoid robots. Their job listings have changed from research related positions to high volume manufacturing. Expect robots to enter warehousing jobs like Amazon, UPS, FedEx, etc soon.
I should have added that when viewing the economy by GDP per capita, AI and robots make humans more productive and raises GDP per capita. Importing low wage workers lowers GDP per capita.
Europe thought the US would always provide their security so they could finance their socialists programs. Trump has changed that and hopefully will end the US involvement with NATO.
Another parasitic vulture that has tried to destroy American industry is Private Equity. Over many decades they bought companies milked them dry than sell the husks, foist the pensions on the US government aka the taxpayers or send manufacturing overseas. They are parasites who create nothing and destroy what they acquire for their own benefit. The ripple effect was jobs, people, communities devastated by the vultures. That is one thing Trump is trying to do and that is return America to Main Street and putting Wall Street on the sidelines.
This is SOOOOO right on (imho)….I’m grateful to you …..AS ALWAYS….. for pointing it out & laying it out so succinctly & LOGICALLY….which enables ME to share with others & seem like the smartest most persuasive guy in the room…..(FOR A CHANGE…..🤣🥴🤓)
People are SO intellectually lazy they just allow themselves to be sedated by a screen display & be conditioned to a narrative…..This kind of article is almost that stinging slap that can snap people out of it.
The latest example of just how corrupt and indeed evil Pravda is was dropped early this morning, when two Palestinian terrorists from the West Bank tried to infiltrate through an Israeli checkpoint in order to conduct a terrorist attack. When it became clear that they would not be able to reach their original target, the men left their vehicle and engaged in a long firefight with Israeli soldiers, killing and wounding several.
How did NBC report this?
Israelis killed Palestinians “alleged” to be terrorists. The story isn’t the attack, but Israeli soldiers killing Palestinians who are only “alleged” to be terrorists.

Great analysis! Thx Sundance! So appreciate you!
Don’t forget. The Marshal Plan was sold to Americans as a bulwark against Communism’s encroachment on Europe.
It clearly didn’t work. France elected its first Communist President in the 1980’s. His name was Francois Mitterand. And yet, the money continued to flow!
Anymore, our payments to Europe look like a ransom payment. We pay Europe the Dane Geld, and, true to form, we only get more hostage taking.
Canada is experiencing natural consequences for perhaps the first time in memory.
Enabling def: “ shielding one from the natural consequences of their self-destructive or harmful conduct.
One is reality.
The latter, fantasy.
Reality will always prevail in the end.
Their current wallpapering over damp sheetrock with money is gonna fail.
There is also something else quite revealing. We found the person who ate all the pies!
Damnit, Janice!!
Wow, is she rough looking! Yikes.
Once again I have to ask: Is it being ugly that causes a woman to become a Libby, or does being a Libby cause the insufferable ugliness?
In need of Austin Powers to weigh in on this…”woman”?
“….the United States elected Donald Trump at just exactly the right moment..”
I can’t help but reflect in hindsight how many times then Donald Trump was feted by those who despise him now, and asked…almost pleaded with…if he would consider a run for the presidency.
He never categorically said “No” but no doubt was watchful and hedged his answers.
Until it became clear to him that no one in power was acting on behalf of the America he loves…and saw that there was not a single soul in the offing who could or would do what needed to be done to stop the carnage inflicted upon our Republic. Then work to restore the fortunes of working people, their families, and their communities which with malice aforethought had been decimated.
He kept his powder dry. And yes, we came this close to following Canada and Europe into irreversible decline.
Chance? Serendipity?
Not a bit of it….
The Divine of course had a say in the timing of President Trump’s destiny. This I resolutely believe, with the additional thought that if the arrival of the greatest president this nation has ever had was so ordered and sustained, Almighty God is not through with us yet.
This alone should….must…give us all renewed hope in these perilous, chaotic days.
We fight on….🇺🇸🙏🏻
Almighty God is indeed a loving and righteous God. He is also the Author of history.
I believe (and this has become even more apparent in the last few weeks) that God is shaping foreign and domestic events and performing great miracles right before our very eyes.
Seemingly disparate events around the globe are being woven together to push mankind in a more righteous direction, reflecting the will of God.
The old globalist regime is burning to the ground. It is being replaced by a new order based on national sovereignty, popular sovereignty, individual liberty, and God’s Law.
President Trump is leading the way in the temporal world, allied with China and Russia, and bringing along the Western Hemisphere (minus Canada) to be full participants.
All of it is being divinely orchestrated by the Triune God, and we are so blessed to be a part of it.
That’s a man, baby
The Canadiens are lowest IQ people on the planet they deserve what’s coming. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
There are many, good Christian Canadians, some of whom are residents and contributors in the branches of this Tree of ours…and who are having to suffer this abysmal situation under a globalist despot (that would be Carney, and his filthy coterie of enablers and henchmen).
Unfortunately, our Canadian brothers and sisters are vastly outnumbered and overwhelmed.
I always remember that the biggest mistake any of us can make is believing that it can’t happen to us. We came very close once.
I hope and pray, if we have learned that lesson, never again.
Regards….
Remember when Treepers and believers nationwide were all praying 2 Chronicles 7:14? I do.
But, God…
…USA would not have 45 inaugurated as 47 and we would like a balloon deflating to a soft power.
“The current problem is that ‘elbow’s up’ Canada continues to maintain economic denial about their status.”
Funny thing about economic denial……it only lasts so long.
And if we as a Nation don’t get our corrupt politicians of BOTH PARTIES to stop spending us into oblivion, our economy will implode as well.
People go to Congress and become WEALTHY.
Meanwhile, the Nation is 40 TRILLION DOLLARS IN DEBT.
People in Congress make MIGHTY sure they don’t handle the money coming to THEM the way they handle the money of WE THE PEOPLE.
“Do not ever underestimate how fortunate we were.
Without Donald J Trump the United States would have easily become just another larger version of a dependent soft power.”
Absolutely Sundance.
I asked my 1925 model Father if he would have fought in WWII if he was old enough.
His reply was “our forebears came out to the New Worlds to get away from “that hive of scum and villainy” (he used one word that starts with ‘b’) and they have been fighting each other for thousands of years and we don’t want anything to do with them.
I would add, their communist one world government shtick is a continuation with the addition of the ‘sand people’.
I might add that it was the scum French that created the whole Vietnam debacle.
Excellently explained, as always- thank you, Sundance!
Almighty Lord, continue to protect and strengthen President Trump –
Amen
The people of Canada don’t realize it yet, but they will be under the rule of Chine in a few years.
they might be thankful.
look what the elitist scum has done for the former free Canadian people before China gets there!
Canada is finding out what teenagers find out when Mommy & Daddy kick them out to fend for themselves instead of spoon-feeding them as they lay on the couch:
“The real world isn’t like you imagine it to exist.”
It’s time for Americans to do a deep dive on what Canadian industries will be moving here shortly. There will be good jobs opening in auto manufacturing, steel, etc.
That’s a good post. The problem however is that as soon as the administration changes so does the policy. Americans are bittterly divided on everything and our politics show it . For example, Trump can make a deal with Putin that says no NATO and no EU for Ukraine. How can Putin trust that survives trump? So maybe Canada best strategy is to wait
Charette informs the audience that regardless of who is the U.S. President, tariffs will likely remain in place permanently because the amount of revenue being generated to the U.S. Treasury is too great for any President or congress to stop. -Sundance
If this true why are we still paying so much income tax? Our government is flooded every year with our tax dollars to such a great extent that it can no longer keep control of all of the monies. That excess opens the door for massive fraudulent schemes into the billions of dollars we’ve seen the Somalis, other foreigners and our own home grown criminals commit let alone the massive wasteful spending of Congress! We can’t trust Congress to spend all those dollars while our deficit continues to grow! Something must be done! I’m in favor of doing away with the IRS tax code and the IRS. Both are used to harass, impoverish and sometimes to incarcerate tax payers! We’ve all had enough taxation without representation!!! JMO
Sorry Sundance. Killing Charlie Kirk and prosecuting Brian Cole knowing he is innocent is a bridge too far for me.
?
I’m not sorry one bit but that is one of the ugliest He/She I have ever seen and it’s proof the vile hate and evil one holds inside always comes to the surface.
Is that Doug Ford in disguise ?
Why does Canada continue to allow “American Made” 😂 cars to be produced ?

Little known aspect to “de-carbonization” is that Global Banking required it as a condition of getting financing, as it did with DEI, firearms transactions, etc. Mark Carney, as a former Governor of the Bank of England, sat near the top of this global pyramid or evil…
