WASHINGTON DC – Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced Wednesday that he will not support Rep. Mick Mulvaney’s (R-S.C.) nomination to lead the Office of Management and Budget.

“Under most circumstances, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the incoming president … so it is with great reluctance that I came to the floor of the Senate to rise in opposition to the nomination of Mick Mulvaney,” McCain said.

Apparently the GOPe has had enough of this hiding behind the guise of supporting Trump.  We know this specifically because the Corinthian Chair sitting GOPe “Decepticons” never trot out Thad Cochran unless -and until- Mitch McConnell pulls him out of the closet for a purpose.
For those who don’t know, Senator Thad Cochran is, well, to put it nicely, cognitively impaired. As such, McConnell keeps him tucked away, and hidden from the media, like the non-viable character from Weekend at Bernie’s.  When sighted, it’s almost always from behind, and it’s usually Orrin Hatch and Mitch McConnell carrying him around.
Every once in a while someone might see Thad’s nurse wheeling him around near the cloakroom and changing his bib, but generally speaking ol’ Thad is just a name on a brass plaque,… on a mahogany door,… leading to an empty office.
Senator Cochran spends his days at home in DC looking out the window, and when not dozing he mutters to the pretty pancakes and watches the garden gnomes twerking. Originally elected in 1978, Mississippi’s oldest legislator is a ghost-senator who McConnell et al [Big Club] use to keep a box open on their side of the ledger.

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe delivered an abrupt joint statement Saturday night, addressing reports that North Korea test fired a ballistic missile into its eastern sea.

Last week Seattle Judge Robart claimed no-one had been arrested from the seven nations that are included in President Trump’s executive order. From the hearing:

• Judge Robart: “How many arrests have there been of foreign nationals for those seven countries since 9/11?”
• DOJ Attorney Michelle Bennett: “Your Honor, I don’t have that information.”
• Judge Robart: “Let me tell you… The answer to that is none, as best I can tell. So, I mean, you’re here arguing on behalf of someone [President Trump] that says: We have to protect the United States from these individuals coming from these countries, and there’s no support for that.”

Judge Robart is just factually wrong.

Somalia – More than 20 people in Minnesota have faced federal charges related to Al Shabaab, an African terror group, with at least 10 more cases related to ISIS. Defendants have usually been detained while awaiting trial, as prosecutors have argued that they remain flight risks and threats to the community. (link)
In November 2016, 18-year-old Abdul Razak Ali Artan, a Somali refugee, plowed his car into a crowd at Ohio State University, and then stabbed people with a butcher knife. He was not arrested, but would have been if a police officer had not shot him dead.

President Donald Trump traveled to MacDill Air Force Base today in Tampa Florida to visit to US Central Command, meet officers who form the tip of the spear implementing his strategy to defeat the Islamic State group, and deliver remarks to the military.

CENTCOM military command is responsible for an area that includes the Middle East and Central Asia.  It plays a key role in Operation Inherent Resolve — the US-led mission to “degrade and defeat” the Islamic State group — which has resulted in 17,861 strikes across northern Syria and Iraq since August 2016. President Trump also ate lunch with the troops.

During the White House Press Briefing earlier today National Security Advisor Michael Flynn discussed the various recent provocations from the Iranian regime.
In the past several days Iran has been probing U.S. policy with various provocations and testing the Trump administration’s reaction. Testing ballistic missiles and a Houthi rebel suicide bomb attack against a Saudi military vessel. The Houthi group are financed by the regime within Iran.
Throughout the campaign and early presidency Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he would not give specifics about any potential response toward any hostile action. However, that said – any response, if determined, from a Trump administration, would likely be unannounced and significant.

Last weekend President Trump and Saudi King Salman spoke on the telephone.  Additionally, Trump has formed the early stages of a working relationship with King Abdullah III of Jordan, and Egyptian President Fattah el-Sisi.  President Trump has also spoken with Vladimir Putin (Russia) who holds economic leverage over Iran.

President Donald Trump made an unscheduled and unannounced trip to Dover Air Base to honor fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens.  Owens was the first military casualty since President Trump was sworn into office.

President Trump’s trip to Delaware’s Dover Air Base was shrouded in secrecy. It was not on the president’s daily schedule. A small group of journalists traveled with Trump on the condition that the visit was not reported until his arrival. He was joined by his daughter, Ivanka.
Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens, 36, of Peoria, Ill was killed during a raid on an al-Qaeda camp in Yemen on Saturday.  Owens’ family is said to have asked that his return be kept private. (more…)

The level of absurdity from the official media channel of the U.S. Department of State, CNN, is reaching new levels of Tokyo Rose disinformation and propaganda.

♦ ‘President Trump’s temporary pause and reassessment of visa approvals, combined with the implementation of “extreme vetting” will make our mid-east allies unhappy’… they say.

♦ ‘President Trump’s request for a reevaluation of our relationship and structure with NATO will make our European allies unhappy’…. they say.

Let’s think about this factually and logically.  Who are these “mid-east allies” who would be upset?  Seriously, think about it.

King Abdullah of Jordan is part of the mid-east freedom alliance with President Fattah Abdel el-Sisi of Egypt.   Due to President Obama’s extremist politics, Abdullah and Sisi formed a working security and economic relationship with Vladimir Putin.
Prior to taking the oath of office President Trump spoke personally to President el-Sisi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.   Since the inauguration – The geo-strategic evolution continues -> President Vladimir Putin (Russia), President Fattah el-Sisi (Egypt) and King Salman (Saudi Arabia) have all held diplomatic and strategic discussions with President Trump.
