As A Mother Grows

This post was originally written in 2012. I have made updates and substantial changes that reflect my own family’s growth, as well as changes in my own experiences and outlook.

In March of 2011, the arrival of a beautiful little girl, daughter of my youngest son and his wife, made me a grandmother for the first time. A little over a year later we welcomed her younger brother, and a few years after that, another little brother.

About the time of the youngest grandson’s birth my middle son introduced us to his future wife, and our soon to be new grandson, who was five when we met him first. A few years after that we welcomed our now youngest grandson into the family.

Along the way, my oldest son met and married a young lady with three more children who became ours to love and enjoy. So, for those who’ve lost count, we now have eight grandchildren.

We adults tend to reflect on this day about our older moms, perhaps even mothers or grandmothers gone from us now, a picture specific to our grown selves, a mature and experienced mother we see in the now moment. I have been thinking of motherhood, the stages of it, for some time now, reflecting on the changes that happened to me as I had each child, as our family grew up, as they left the nest and grandchildren came along, as I watch my daughters in law and sons with their own families, the mothers who struggle so hard with the demands only a young family faces.

So, I would like to write about the stages of motherhood, and perhaps, for the sake of coherence and the story, I will make assumptions about families that may not match everyone’s experience. That does not mean I value your experience less. Families come in a lot of shapes and sizes these days, from foster families, step children, and those made up of “honorary” mom or grandmother who might have stepped into the role to help  a child in need. May 9th – 2021 Presidential Politics – Resistance Day 110

In an effort to keep the Daily Open Thread a little more open topic we are going to start a new daily thread for “Presidential Politics”. Please use this thread to post anything relating to the JoeBama Administration and Presidency.

“This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.”

“But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.”

~ Mike Vanderboegh

This thread will refresh daily and appear above the Open Discussion Thread.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Lee Smith and Victor Davis Hanson Discussion During Freedom Festival

Lee Smith is the only DC regional journalist I would ever recommend anyone trusting (the ONLY one), and Victor Davis Hanson always has an eloquent way of explaining the bizarre world that surrounds everything political.   Lee Smith having a roundtable discussion with VDH is a must watch:

Tucker Carlson Gives Details of Kevin McCarthy and Frank Luntz Relationship

Tucker Carlson followed up on the story of House Leader Kevin McCarthy renting a room in the penthouse suite of pollster Frank Luntz.  Amid the details Luntz owns a 7,000 square foot penthouse apartment.  McCarthy reportedly paid Luntz $1,500/month for his space.  However, Carlson notes the massive penthouse has 12 bedrooms…

… which begs the question:  Who else lives in the other ten bedrooms?

GOP Conference Vote To Get Rid of Liz Cheney Scheduled for Next Wednesday, 9am

Good news!  The sneaky snake who organized the former Pentagon officials into a secret backstabbing attack against President Trump, and then hid her activity, is about to get the boot from leadership.

Reports surfaced yesterday [SEE HERE] that Liz Cheney worked behind the scenes to coordinate a stealth attack against Trump while he was still in office.  We should not be surprised, but the insufferable arrogance of the DeceptiCon dirtbags is blood-boiling.

Thankfully, according to the New York Post, Liz Cheney is going to face a House conference vote next Wednesday.  This will be a very solid opportunity to watch and see exactly who votes to support her.  To avoid scrutiny the vote will likely be secret, again.  However, hopefully someone will take note of who votes and will compile a list of targets for primary challenges.

WASHINGTON DC – The vote to determine House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney’s fate in leadership is scheduled for Wednesday morning — after months of the No. 3 GOP member being at war with her own party.

GOP Chairwoman Gives Update on Maricopa County Ballot Audit and Details of Push-back By Arizona State Senate Against DOJ Intervention

Arizona GOP Chairwoman Kelli Ward gives an update on the ongoing Maricopa County ballot audit.  As Ms. Ward notes, the Democrats and federal Dept. of Justice are attempting to intervene in the audit at the same time the Maricopa election officials are admitting they did not have custody of the equipment used to count ballots.

Things are starting to look very sketchy about the former vote in Arizona.  The Arizona team shares: “America’s Audit continues as it faces unprecedented threats from Democrats, Department of Justice and mainstream media. Fed interference not warranted nor welcome in Arizona. Here’s the latest news from Arizona Chairwoman Kelli Ward as she makes clear we will finish the audit.”

.

Additionally, the Maricopa Board of Supervisors held an emergency meeting today after the State Senate threatened legal action if the county did not provide the passwords to the internal systems used during the 2020 election.

The Veterans Memorial Coliseum CCTV system remains active [SEE HERE]  as a public security and integrity issue.

Additionally, THIS is the official page of the Arizona Senate Liaison for the Maricopa County Election audit. “Under the direction of The Honorable Ken Bennett, former Arizona Secretary of State, an audit is underway to ensure transparency and integrity in the Maricopa County, AZ 2020 election audit.”

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen Says Economic Water is Not Always Lacking Dryness

This obtuse explanation from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen about the April jobs report is one for the record books.  According to Yellen, the government handing people more free money than they would achieve with a working job is not a disincentive for employment.

To prove her case she cites the hospitality industry hiring people in April.  However, what Yellen doesn’t figure into her bizarro logic is that all sectors in all states are not created equal.  Yes, the statistics of “sector analysis” apply across the entire nation; however, the underlying economic activity is not equally distributed.

Blue states are more economically closed than red states. The job gains are in the states where the economic activity is strongest and the incentives for workers are the biggest.   The lack of people working is disproportionately happening in the blue states where dependency models are strongest. WATCH this nonsense:

.

These bureaucrats don’t have a lick of common sense.  According to Secretary Yellen’s logic, there are times when water is not lacking dryness.
