I do not know how better to emphasize the points other than to be direct and brutally honest. Sometimes you just have to call the baby ugly. The window to prepare for the incoming crisis of our lifetime is now down to two weeks. Hopefully, that is specific enough.
As we have discussed on these pages, the interventionist policies and regulations from the people creating the COVID response (writ large) have been fubar from the beginning. {Go Deep} When they shut down the restaurants and hospitality sector (2020 lockdowns), the advisors and bureaucrats triggered a cascading series of events inside the food supply chain {Go Deep}.
Every policy implementation since then has made matters worse {Go Deep}
Adding to the supply chain and inflation crisis, in about a week the vaccine mandate and subsequent commercial passport means 30,000 cross border truckers are about to get shut down from operating between the United States and Canada.
“70% of the 700 billion in trade between Canada and the US is moved by truck. This will have a dramatic effect on supplies and services reaching their destination and getting in the hands of those who need them. One needs to look no further than the recent UK fuel shortage, where the military had to be brought in to deliver fuel as a result of a lack of truck drivers. We are already seeing shortages, if these shortages reach critical levels on items such as fuel, food, blood, medicine or medical supplies, we will see real long-lasting damage.”
~ Mike Milliam, President of the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada
As noted by those following the issue(s) closely: “Starting January 15th, 2022, truckers must show a proof of vaccine to cross the Canada/US borders. Since March 2020, drivers were considered “essential”. They could cross the border without a covid test or the vaccine. Under Biden/Trudeau administration, this is about to change”:
22 000 truckers are about to lose their job. But this estimate is from the Canadian Trucking Association. The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC) estimated this number closer to 31 000 truckers.
We are looking at a meltdown of the supply chain, or at least some severe disruption.
Get everything you need now. Inflation is about to get real. (read more)
CTH readers are already well versed in the domestic side of this issue {Go Deep}. When you overlay the USMCA aspect and recognize the critical sectors of the North American economy that are reliant upon each other; and when you realize that no one outside of the blue collar crews who have specific expertise in applying commonsense to this equation are talking about it, then you begin to realize what is obviously about to hit, and yet all will claim they never saw it coming.
We have approximately two weeks left. After that, I genuinely do not know what things will look like…. but I do know it will not be good. We are in very uncharted and unstable waters.
Act as if… or be acted upon. Ultimately, this appears to be our choice right now.
If we are wrong, then we will breathe a sigh of relief. However, if we are correct….
….. FUBAR!
If true…Stock Market prediction? F-Dog?
Yup. Since 2008.
Around here deer season’s gone on for ages, two mild winters and the herd is huge.
I invested in a .22 scoped pellet rifle a couple years ago. Good for small game, and very quiet.
Made my usual biweekly shopping trip two days ago, and came home crying. I couldn’t help it, my list is usually only about $180, and it ran $377 this week, AND that was without most of my meats, because the meat department was for some reason limited to $15/lb kobe beef and $5/lb pork chops (that are customarily $1.89/lb), and shellfish that cost more than beef, and was frozen, not fresh. I paid as much for a 32 oz veg oil as I did a gallon of gas ($3.99) and I haven’t ever paid that much for either before, not even in California!! Did I menton fish flakes that were $3.28 the week before Christmas are now $10.99? Or that rabbit feed is now $12.99 for a small one week supply? I’ve been trying to stock up (more than usual, that is. Hubby calls me his pack rat and threatens me when I go overboard, but what he doesn’t know is that I have a buried cache out back, and he won’t know about it until we need to dig it up LOL); Mom, hubby, and I can probably make it through a half a year now because of the hording. I just have to worry about my baby and her babies. But I have faith that somehow, with God’s blessing, we will somehow get through this like we have everything else
My heart breaks for everyone who is trying to get through all this stress and uncertainty, especially with limited means. And most often it is the people who did the right things, followed the rules and saved. There really should be hell to pay for those who put us in this situation.
Not, to mention the Brandon mandates are supposed to kick in as well. SCOTUS heard the case today. I don’t pay much attention to the judiciary and know little about how it operates but I have been curious about this decision. I don’t even know who argued for Team Humanity, was hoping it was Aaron Siri. The Bongino report links the story but details to me seem scant. I have absolutely no faith in these justices.
I just got done reading today’s post from kunstler.com clusterf*** nation blog. Jim K seems to think this covid thing is about ready to disappear. I hope he is correct but I do not think he is even close. This covid fiasco is the key to the Great Reset and I don’t believe TPTB are going down without a fight. The problem is if they fail and drop the ball many of them are going to be in deep stuff. They could be stripped of their wealth and locked up for life just for bribery alone along with the media and pharma. Now imagine healthcare workers come clean about the “kill” orders in hospitals that they had to follow per the CDC. NIH, FDA, etc….you get the picture.
I will be pleasantly surprised if the SCOTUS does the correct thing. America right now is the country holding the rest of the Western World up. They will keep pushing and I am not so sure they even care if things break (economy) at this point. I don’t believe for a second these people are the least bit scared of elections anymore. I’m happy to be wrong but if I am not you can throw a bunch of American workers walking off the job on top of SD’s post.
SCOTUS? What’s in their stock portfolios and the portfolios of their family members?
Normally I would agree with your assessment glissmeister, but I’m afraid this goes so much deeper than money IMHO. This is our future as either free peoples or cattle.
During the Great Depression the deer were all killed in the first three months after the crash.
My question is, would the pansy ass leftists even know how to “dress” a deer or small game? Can you imagine someone like Bette Midler having to field dress a deer? OMG, she’d probably think “dress” meant putting a deer in a dress!
Thanks for the reminder and all you do! We will be doing inventory and adding to our preps.
Went to Publix today. Friday 10:30 AM.
zero, I mean zero fresh chicken. Not whole, not parts.
no breakfast sandwiches. None of any brand.
weirdest one was no frozen potatoes. No fries, no tots, no Hash Browns.
We will all need to work through and around these types of shortages. For example:
Fresh Potato -> microwave -> slice -> fry -> hash browns -> yum 🙂
Dehydrated shredded potatoes! Recently discovered them at Costco, though surely they’re everywhere. Little cups make tons of hash browns, and they’re great! Turns out Waffle House uses them.
Potato farmer near us who sells at farm as well as commercial already out of Russets, has a pallet of yellow and a pallet of red and then that is it. Really early in the year for him to be out.
Live near a refugee settlement city and they discovered a lot of the rural places during first lock down, cleaned the farmers’ stock out–potatoes, milk, brussel sprouts, squash, apples, blueberries, etc. The refugees always have money…
OUR MONEY, from OUR TAXES. Ggrrrrr…
Went shopping for lots of groceries yesterday at a Smart & Final in San Pedro, CA. Pretty well stocked, but not necessarily with the usual brands. I hate shopping, so when I go, I get enough to avoid having to shop for about a month.
Prices were sky high and many products were in small packages or fewer items in a package. For instance, corn taco shells now come in packs of 8 instead of 12 and cost about the same as 12 did a year ago. I am pretty well off and can afford to pretty much ignore the price increases.
Other shoppers were showing signs that the price increases were a big deal to them. One man was on the phone constantly naming off the prices of various products to, I assume, his wife to get OKs on what to put in the cart. Most people were buying small quantities, enough food for a meal or three, not doing shopping that required using a big cart.
Some people must be making a lot of sauerkraut, because certain types of cabbage were gone, but by the remains in the bins, it appeared there had been stock earlier in the day. Never saw that before.
I suspect that the chains are keeping the shelves stocked in the more affluent areas, where people tend to be less price sensitive.
A year and a half ago, during the great toilet paper shortage, there were numerous items missing from the shelves in the same store.
There are hundreds of ships off the coast waiting to be unloaded in the port of LA and Long Beach. Many are now staying 5 or 10 miles out, just floating around. Some are waiting by Catalina Island (~ 19 miles off the LA port) and behind the island. They surround Rancho Palos Verdes, but they are staying farther out to sea. The number of ships seems to be slowly increasing.
We shop at the same store.
If you are looking at ships off PV they are probably in the North/southbound shipping lanes. Anchored ships have been from LA light south to Newport.
Oh geez, you had to mention TP.
We have tons of TP. I’ve been banned from buying more…until now.
Might want to think about more than just food items. Of course, stuff your freezer(s) but think about cleaning products. Dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, sterilizing products and any darn cold and pain medicine you think you might need for two years, including toothpaste (which must have been invented in Arkansas, because Texans would have called it teethpaste).
Speaking frozen foods, do you have a generator in case of power outage. It doesn’t matter whether you are in a big city or the backwoods, emergency power and fuel to fire it up is critical to maintaining the food in freezers and refrigerators.
If you can afford it in your budget, get a dual fuel inverter generator. The inverter is good for stabilized power generation for sensitive electronics. Dual fuel is gasoline and propane. Instead of storing gas long term and having to stabilize it, just consider that your cars have lots of gas, most of the time, so you can siphon it out if needed (so always stay topped off with gasoline). The 20 lb. propane tank you use for your gas grill stores 4.6 gallons of compressed propane. It will last indefinitely (assuming a good tank and valve with no leaks).
Might as well get some bottled water. Better yet would be large 55 gallon food grade barrels. Don’t forget that the water heater has a supply of water.
We should expect raw materials to continue to escalate in costs; therefore, get a reasonable amount of liqour. It stores about indefinitely. I’m thinking of ordering a new set of tires for my truck, just to have on hand.
Get plenty of nutraceuticals and therapeutics. You can order just about everything you need in that department on-line. I just received my second 200 tabs of 15 mg ivermectin. First set came from New Delhi, second form Singapore.
We could start a whole preppers list; however, I’m sure most of you are fairly well prepared right now. I’m just thinking out loud. Preachin’ to the choir, so to speak.
On connecting generators. Make double damned sure that your breaker box is wired with an additional switch to make sure you are not energizing the lines leading to pole or other incoming line from your power company…. You could kill at Power and Light guy on a pole or switch right near by.
If you need help on that , get an electrician on it, now. Better safe than sorry.
It’s called a Transfer Switch. Manual is cheaper than automatic.
Which store are you getting the ivermectin from?
I think he/she’s talking about Indiamart. 👍🏻
https://happyfamilymedstore.com/about-us
I got mine from them. Months ago. Thankfully, haven’t had to use it. It’s in capsules custom compounded for hubby and me.
I also have a large supply of 3 mg tablets. From India by way of my cousin, a NP.
we’re all set…if and when.
I ordered mine (to have on hand, just in case – we live more than an hour from town) from Canada months ago. Did a search, chose one and took a chance 30 ivermectin & 30 hydrozichloriquine – cost almost $200.00. They said 2 months – I had it in ten days.
My doctor refused to give me a prescription for it without a positive test or symptoms so I told the office manager – fine, I will figure out how to get it from Canada. Her response? Let me know where you get it from 🙂 She ordered too.
They have the best “per milligram” price of just about anywhere.
How did you get the Ivrmectin?
Valley vet. Noromectin. 1% injectable. 1ml per 110 lbs body wt
can you just swallow it?
Yes, you can swallow it, wife claims it had a slight aftertaste in a small amount of water. Normally she takes it with her coffee and I take mine with my green tea, no taste that I can detect. I/we use it as a prophylactic, 2.5 cc’s on the first of the month along with daily Super c, D3, Zinc, Quercetin and a daily vitamin. The wife has had 2 notavax injections against my pleading and begging not to. Her employer requires it even though she works from home. She is a 20+ yr RN and has sisters that are also long term RN’s, they all opted for the shot. I’m a 73 yr old male and have not had nor will have any of this mrna vacc nonsense. I’ve not had a flu shot for 40+ years and I cannot tell you the last time I was sick with any of that type of illness.
Back to the Ivermectin, here is a link to a very informative article, http://www.barnhardt.biz/ivermectin. I think if you read what she has posted you will be well informed regarding the use of Ivermectin. Japan and India have moved almost entirely to Ivermectin in their treatment protocol.
You need a syringe to measure it, just put it in some juice.
It’s not available there anymore. They finally canceled an order I had in there for a couple of months. Said they didn’t know when it would be available again. Some Tractor Supply stores still have it. Most people still don’t know about it.
Im with you on the booze weak on the other stuff
I bought some airline-size liquor bottles for $1 each. Not good value for personal use but VERY useful for barter.
Can you send a link where you are ordering from please?
Will you please share your Ivermectin source?
Thank you
http://Www.sevencells.com. Look expensive, but it’s not. Reasonable consultation fee. Cheapest price PER MILLIGRAM, because they compound according to body weight (which is how the dose is determined).
I’ve been saving my 2L soft drink bottles, rinsing out w/soapy water, rinse, fill with filtered water & 10 drops bleach, and store at the side of the fridge. Butane single burner stove, cheap butane tanks from oriental store. Gotten me through several hurricanes. Foods aver to keep beans fresher longer.
Point Fermin!
My close friend used to live in that big manufactured home park overlooking the Ocean in San Pedro, right next to Palos Verdes. He moved in to his dads home after his father died. They had a great view of the ocean, and we would see some vessels out there. There are probably many more now. I used to enjoy making that drive around Palos Verdes in a convertible Porsche 911 Cabriolet which I had back then with the top down. Those great days of California living are becoming more and more scare. I now live up in Brentwood landlocked by traffic. I now drive a Cayenne SUV which is great, but as much fun.
I reckon location is everything. Just returned from Publix in west central Florida. Fully stocked. No shortages noted since the great toilet paper fiasco.
Hopes and prayers for us all as the supply chain stretches.
I was at Publix in Greenville, SC this morning. Bought a pound of lean hamburger to make chili. That pound was $7.97. There were lots of empty shelves from cereal, to paper goods, to cat food.
I was able to BOGO of hotdogs even though I dislike them. Don’t get me started on hotdog buns that are about 3” in length.
Try Wildfork. Great prices, and 2 day ship!
Lean hamburger: Local grocery store was $4.99 per lb. Costco was $3.99 per lb. Midwest.
yeah and you buy an 8 pack of buns and a 10 pack of hot dogs.so what the heck ya supposed to do with the 2 left overs?
Eat’em without the bun;)
Double-dog that bun. What’s wrong with you?
Slice them lengthwise and lay them across sliced bread. Hot dog sandwich.
Here in Tn at Cash Savers I can get 10# roll of 70/30 hamburger less than $3#. sometimes ground chuck @$3.65
That’s WAY too fatty for me. 85/15 is the fattest I can do.
Plus, the residue of antibiotics, hormones, et al are all in the fat. It’s better if it’s grass-fed, tho.
Publix in Greenville is not reasonably priced on meat. Harris Teeter has had a lot of good buys of late.
Wow that’s expensive! I buy organic grass fed beef at Aldi or Walmart and it’s $5/lb…and that’s still expensive. Regular ground beef is around $4/lb
Kroger in S Indiana was in good shape and I loaded the wagon today. Prices higher but the weekly ad was a good one and most everything I bought was on sale.
I like diet 7up and will settle for Sprite zero but both were out of stock in .5 L 6-pak bottles. A case of tp on the way from Sam’s, $20 for 36 rolls delivered, and 3 cases of Lipton tea bags plus some 3lb tins of coffee.
Same in Boise, Idaho (Winco Foods). Prices are higher, but not too bad yet. Shelves are stocked with food, even low-cost items like mac-n-cheese.
I usually buy in bulk, and thanks to this area having a large number of Mormons, Winco Foods stocks food-grade 5 gallon buckets/lids, as well as feed sacks of oatmeal, and good varieties of rice, beans, sugar, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, split peas, lentils. Large cans already sealed for multi-year storage of powdered eggs, milk, dried fruit, hashbrowns. I’ve been buying a little here and there for years, mostly because my freezer is small and I don’t have a generator.
Psalm 91. I read it every day as the fire gets closer.
Thank you for sharing that verse.
Originally Pinellas Cty before retiring to Tn. I miss Publix. Not enough people out here in the woods for one.
Hey, Johnny Reb! My people were the original Southerners in Florida as well in Pasco Co, I just came back from a great trip along the Natchez Trace in TN and MS, the hunting is good. I think we will soon be eating like our ancestors………roasted Squirrels to supplement other wild game. Good luck to you and keep your Powder Dry, as they say, It’s 1861 all over again……….Big Tyranny
Our great FL governor has let all the shippers know that FL ports are open for business.
Gov DeSantis for PRESIDENT!!!!!
Same. Went to Publix last night. All the meat was only 30-40% stocked. Crazy. Live in Tampa/St Pete. You?
Try a different chain. I live in north Florida and my publix has a lot of empty spaces. Publix clearly has supply chain issues. Across the street the Winn Dixie was very well stocked. The only thing I recall being in short supply was sausage, they had a variety just not as full as usual. I haven’t been in Aldi’s but if there is one near you maybe check there too.
Our Aldi’s had pork butt shoulders roasts on sale, half price! I got two 7# roasts, cut them into thirds and froze. I’ve been picking up reduced price meat for months, filling up my small chest freezer.
I’d consider Winn Dixie for their meats but most of them in Broward and southern Palm Beach counties closed in late 2019/early 2020. their quality was pretty good for the price.
Huntsville, AL
The same thing here. Also, no paper products. I live in the South. A large portion of my community is about to be very upset.
Commenters here are beginning to make me wonder whether the supplies to the deep blue areas are somehow (and I can’t imagine how!), by design, being given preference.
I remember once, sometime last year, when chicken was picked through, but it was never absolutely gone.
The pet food situation, however, is pretty bad.
Steph..l dont think so. Am in Seattle suburb and Kroger’s is starting to be picked over. Both the higher end QFC and lower price point Fred Meyer. Many cereals gone, non fat dry milk, raisins, flour, pet food. We’re just off a huge snow storm that went on for days and cleaned the stores out of eggs, milk, bread etc. so we’re facing a double whammy here with Sundance article. That being said, I hope to live to be 120 to eat all Ive bought.
Pet supplies in general! My fiancée had a hell of a time finding our cat food and the litter box trays have been unavailable for three weeks. I need to get better at fishing for everybody’s sake!
Ice fishing will be what many in the northern climates will be doing soon. Start watching those shows, such as Sub Zero Alaska, or whatever it’s called. Learn to ice fish. YIKES!
Ditto that on frozen potato products. North Georgia Walmarts and Ingles (same as Kroger) have had very limited selections since about September 2021. And just across the freezer case, there’s scads of frozen veggies. I also do not understand this.
Yes, oddly also was no Publix milk products. I always buy 1/2 and 1/2 but they were out for 3 weeks.
Maybe people, as usual are not good about eating veggies. So stock up on those as people buy pasta, crackers and other non nutritious stuff .
Cat can food is very hard to get, publix was out of about 8 things on list, Sams out many items as well. No bacon breakfast sandwiches anywhere.
Today Chewy said my Royal Canin script cat food delivery would be delayed. No delivery date given.
Same here (MS), got a delay message from Chewy on Instinct Cat food. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I have never had a delay from them before.
Saw this before Christmas. Wanted to buy “stocking stuffers” for our two cats (i know, i know) and Walmart had practically zero canned food options. Only wet food worth buying was the highest priced Sheba packs. so i bought a few of those. neither cat will eat them. jerks.
we are also are having trouble but pet supplies from Chewy and Amazon.
also at Publix today, no paper towels, no toilet paper, tissues.
Damn and my family came to America to escape the potatoes famine from Scotland
yes, we’re in a horrible tot famine. 😑
I know someone in that industry. Companies like Purdue and Tyson process different things in different factories. The recent snow storm cut off transportation. So in one area you may have chicken nugget and no fresh chickens and in another you may have fresh chickens and no chicken nuggets. It is because factories make specific products and are spread out. If transportation breaks down you may not be able to move product from say PA to NC or Virginia to NY. The region will only have the product made there. Make sense?
MC. This was just the fresh chicken case about 20 feet of refrigerator case was just empty. No whole chickens or cut up parts, not even the expensive boneless chicken breasts or a single wing. It’s mostly Publix brand with just a few Purdue or other brands, if any.
their was frozen in the freezer cases, just zero fresh.
Saw the same in south florida. shopping 2-JAN, publix, whole foods and walmart were all out of bone in chicken thighs and most other fresh chicken. we settled for turkey legs (great in the smoker!) costco had some boneless skinless chicken thighs so we grabbed those, wings, and will vacuum seal/freeze most of it.
Sometimes a tyranny is at it’s most most dangerous and destructive when it senses it’s impending end. Prayers to all patriots across the pond and hopefully this dark storm does have a glittering lining.
Praying in unity, Constant peg. For Patriots globally because this isn’t an isolated American problem. It is just remarkable to watch those walk around in a trance and follow anything the Dictator spews.
You must’ve seen my brother then.
and my sister Cathi
Walking with my sis?
SD…you speak of Canada…what do they export? And what would it be that would be essential for American families? Or is it just an example you are using?
Frankly save and except a few treepers… Dekester etc….I could give a rip about Canada….and frankly everyone on this board would agree. They need us more than we need them. Certainly charity begins at home.
We know that the vasx does not prevent C…Vid. And those that are vasx can still pass on the virus. We were scammed and continue to be scammed by the g/ment and fake news.
We must stop the ridiculous mandates…yet i don’t have faith in K and B in the long run.
In the meantime I will prepare.
We get an awfully lot of our lumber from Canada, and maple syrup. Probably two or three other things. We used to get oil from there too from some sort of magical oil tube. Memories.
Maple syrup, pine lumber, and cranberries: these are a few of the USA’s favorite things—to import from Canada, that is. For years, American consumers have reaped the benefits of tariff-free trade with Canada and have helped launch Canadian brands into household names—think Lululemon, Molson Coors, and Blackberry, for example.
What other products does the U.S. import from Canada, how has this trade relationship changed over time, and where is it headed? We’ll dive into U.S. import data to answer these questions and more.
What kinds of products does the U.S. import from Canada?Though Canada ships goods to the U.S. in every possible import category, roughly 46% are classified as vegetable products, wood products, or foodstuffs. This includes products at every stage of manufacturing, including some items sold on Amazon.
Using Jungle Scout’s Supplier Database, we can find out which popular products sold on Amazon originate from Canada. Here are some examples of top-selling products from Canada, listed by U.S. import category.
Vegetable ProductsApproximately 21% of U.S. imports from Canada are vegetable products, a category that includes fresh vegetables and fruit, grains, and cut flowers. After China, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, Canada is the fourth-largest contributor of U.S. imports in this category, followed by Honduras.
The U.S. imports plenty of tea from Canada, including from major brands like Davids Tea and the Metropolitan Tea Company.

Has anyone noticed Amazon Prime deliveries getting later and later ?
I don’t do Amazon.
Yes I have. I went to ebay and even th0ugh it said the delivery was in 10 days it came in 3. Check the post office delivery times and get items from further away depending on what they are because they are delivered faster.
Is this why molasses – black strap or any other kind – is so.hard.to.find. … ?
Haven’t bought Molasses in years.
But I do know that – if you can get your hands on a jar- it seems to last *forever*.
In fact, if you can’t find it, you’ve probably got a neighbor w/ an old jar that they don’t even want!
Grandma’s and Brer Rabbit molasses are both good brands. Good on biscuits with butter, to close out the meal, just like Grandpa used to do, after a hard day’s working outside.
Molasses is loaded with nutritional benefits (iron, B vitamins, calcium, magnesium, potassium). That’s why so many homesteaders and preppers have it in their pantry.
My father is a nearly 90 year Southerner and he said he got a tablespoon of Blackstrap molasses each morning before school because of its vitamin/mineral content that was cheap, too. And yes, it seems to last forever and doesn’t get hard as a rock sitting in a pantry like honey.
Drizzle some molasses on baked beans, yummy. And it’s high in iron, or so I’ve been told.
As a child I loved molasses in my milk.
Yum, Fuzzi!
Available on Amazon
Amazon is evil. Only buy it from them in a pinch.
I found it! If only it came in a can like my maternal grandmother (waaay South Louisiana) used to keep for drizzling on her awesome biscuits. Thank you.
Alas, we must use Amazon as our go-to in a pinch.
I remember Bezos saying that he foresees his bankruptcy. Makes sense, the billionaires know they are at the end of their reign and the whole thing will go upside down. People will be bartering and growing their own food. In fact, it is predicted that people will be moving often over the next decade to try and find basically safety.
I think Canada imports lots of fruits from California. Am I right?
Most of our beef actually comes from Canada. Oil comes from Canada. Many, many things come from Canada because it’s more expensive to make everything here.
My beef comes from right here in central Florida. Plenty of steers on the hoof here, I’ve never seen a local dairy farm tho
Manatee county has a dairy farm . They even give tours. Begins with a D. Dirkins, Dubin. This is what old age does to my memory.
Graham’s Dairy in Glades County
Your area of Florida is the last holdout of what was a much larger cattle industry out there decades ago. I know this because my family is descendant from the earliest “Cattle Chasers” (as they were called before the creatures were mandatorily fenced in)
Right. My family, for generations were the original beef cattle ranchers in Florida. Property taxes are so high that the industry is going, being sold off because the profits are too little as they are being surrounded by enormous, expensive housing developments. Thanks to you, New Yorkers out there moving into what I remember decades ago was an awesome place to live! Used to have wonderful orange groves, too (also in my family for two centuries)
Whether it be Canada, or any other country. All that is needed is to squeeze 1 critical link in our supply chain requirement and we can’t produce then end product. Same as had occurred with the supply chain squeeze from China. Now look at the raw materials and intermediate products from Canada and the impact becomes significant to substantial.
Canada’s biggest export to the U.S. is dairy.
Additionally, the auto industry is a function of many cross border deliveries between the U.S. and Canada.
For me it’s easier to figure out what the import/export impact is if you look at it in the context of your state. I’m from Arkansas and Canada is our top trade country; the link below gives me a rough interpretation of how this will impact my state:
AR-Canada-trade-facts.pdf (arwtc.org)
From the link:
“Over 76% of U.S. imports from Canada are goods that are used in the production of other goods”
That remark is U.S. wide, and then consider the impact to your state trade with Canada. Make sense?
Bagged hay cubes, which my horses eat, come from hayfields on the Canadian plains. With western US hay nearly unavailable due to drought, this is my fallback when I can’t get quality hay. And sometimes I can’t even get the cubes.
So, yeah, shutting down the unvaxed cross-border drivers in the midst of a driver shortage will affect people here. The only consolation is that it’s now clear that Canadian “leaders” are as mind-bogglingly stupid as Biden and Co.
If the SC strikes down the Biteme vax mandates, would this not also strike down the cross- order trucker mandate also?

Holy Moly. It’s a LOT.
A quick search revealed this:
Canada’s Top 10 Exports
The following export product groups categorize the highest dollar value in Canadian global shipments during 2020. Also shown is the percentage share each export category represents in terms of overall exports from Canada.
Canada’s top 10 exports are worth about three-fifths (59.5%) of the overall value of Canadian global shipments.
Wood was the fastest grower among the top 10 export categories, up by 15% year over year since 2019. In second place for improving export sales was ores, slag and ash which rose 12.3% led by iron and copper. Canada’s shipments of gems and precious metals posted the third-fastest gain in value up by 8% year over year notably due to higher revenues for exported platinum and silver.
The leading decliner among Canada’s top 10 export categories was mineral fuels including oil which fell -29.8%, weighed down by shrinking revenues for petroleum oils and gases.
Note that the results listed above are at the categorized two-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code level. Gaaaaaah I’m from Canada, stuck up here because I refuse to jab,so cant travel. Cant leave my own country. I could give a rip about Canada either sorry to say. Not a patriotic bone left in my body. Trudeau has gone stark raving mad. He incited violence in French of course, to people in Quebec, against us racist misogynistic, dirty intolerable unvaccinated. He asked why anyone should tolerate us!!!! Ive never hated a person more in my life.
What to do? I’m starting to get a little bit afraid now..before it was just anger. I’m on my own, I’m tough but still a bit scared.
I have some stock, maybe a couple weeks. drinking grade water tanks, propane stove…but its winter up here…I’m on the west coast, so not really cold, but still get pretty cold without power. Yikes! I never thought it would come to this
Greenhouse if you can do it!
And a wood stove, again if you can do it.
Think a lot of your veggies, fruit, etc come up thru the US so that sucks.
Have you ever looked up Jon du Toit on Twitter?
He got out. Is in Mexico now.
Any chance your province can secede? If things get bad enough?
Raft up with good-hearted, like-minded souls. If you were my neighbor, you’d be welcome at every meal and you could stay as long as you like. There are plenty of folks like me, and far better than me. Pray and you will find them. Blessings to you – it can happen in the darkest days. Read the entirety of Psalm 91 and post it where you can see it daily.
Come on down and claim asylum on the northern border just like they do on the southern border. Just please leave any liberal leanings in Canada.
Oh, my God, like Australia, Austria and France right now, you really have a psychopath in Office up there. I loved visiting Canada in years past, and I am truly saddened about what you people are going through. It’s too much like an Era past that is going to be global now, not just Western/Eastern Europe. I guess we all thought we knew our neighbors, in your country and in mine but it has become apparent that much was below the surface we did not want to look at . And like a bad boss in an office, we are now seeing a Top Down approach that is allowing permission for everyone Below to let all their extreme emotions out . Praying for You Folks in Canada. Be Courageous!
8 days until Canada trucker vax goes into affect. 20% of truckers are ready to walk.
FTA: The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) says it estimates that up to 22 thousand Canadian drivers will decide to leave the Canada-U.S. market when the Canadian government’s planned cross-border vaccination mandate takes effect on January 15, 2022. (The U.S. government is also planning to implement a vaccination requirement for Canadian truckers on January 22.)
Based on a recent survey of its members, the CTA says many trucking companies are preparing to lose 10 to 20 per cent of their drivers, and potentially more than 20 per cent in regions of the country with lower vaccination rates.

Our governments want this, they know it will create the ultimate divide, the ultimate FEAR (nothing worse than fear of hunger, etc). And they know people will take to the streets and to their neighbor’s houses in search of food….in as much despiration as an addict looking for $$$ to steal for a ‘fix’. They want civil strife/war across all countries so THEY can bring in their planned FINAL SOLUTION to the Problem THEY Deliberately Created. People that have studied history know how this will pan out. Eastern Europeans now in Canada and the USA have already warned how familiar this is to them………….they warned us last year!
Ginger Ale🤣
Joe “5 lbs of feces in a 3 lb bag” Biden is trying to drive his approval numbers into the single digits.
Funny, the ice at Publix used to be 20 lbs and 10 lbs, now it’s 16 lbs and 7 lbs (same price).
5 lbs into a 3 lbs bag because of inflation? 😂😂😂
Shrinkflation.
“Approval Numbers” only matter “If” you are Voting, Comrade. Better get that cavalry ready and able to ride.
We need Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Heck, we need Grant, Meade et al. Even George Washington and his army to do something about the traitors to our Western Democracies!
Welcome to the Treehouse Robin. (All those comments should be approved….btw.) 😀
The communist Democrats do not care about approval ratings. Read the “Coward And Piven Strategy”. It is all for collapsing the economic system and complete structure of the country we love. Then they can remake it into their communist utopia.
Obama’s buddies, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dorn, and the rest of the Weather Underground terrorists couldn’t blow up enough police stations and government buildings to accomplish their utopia goals so they took the long route to transform America.
They learned their lessons well from Dorn and Piven. Then they became college professors and indoctrinated their students, especially future teachers who in turn have been indoctrinating school children from preschool through high school. So….here we are today, behind the wake up eight ball.
Exactly, and I absolutely despise what they have done to our elite universities; heck, ALL our systems of education…..cesspool of STUPIDITY, ditto the “intellectual” dumkopfs of Bolshevik period.
He’s demented already and his ‘handlers’ do not care nor about his popularity. It’s beyond even Party politics; this is Global this is “concerted”, timed Global Destruction to then usher in armies against the unrest that will come and then the SOLUTIOn they will have for the world. This isn’t good. We need to quit being deflected by the Media and SEE what the real Wizard)s behind the Curtain is doing. This is all STAGING.
Bastardos.
I knew a time such as this was coming. We never had the extra money to stock up on necessities. It has always bothered me. For 180 years my church has constantly told members to be prepared and have at least a three month food supply. Hard to stock up on prescription medication because of expense.
Now it’s here.
Drowning in medical debt, traveling far to doctors, helping the kids, unexpected early retirement due to rare disease, no jobs because of age discrimination/don’t know the right people, ……never any extra left over. We have cut out every extra expense that we could.
If the Medicare services case ruling by the Supreme Court today goes against the states (who want the injunction to remain in force), good luck getting medical care in rural America.
Think a 100+ mile drive for your next (outpatient) surgery.
LDS has good info on being prepared. They also say don’t go into debt, just do what you can, a little at a time. Contact your local church elders/leaders for assistance.
I’m not Mormon, but I have a very close friend who is. He shares his monthly preparedness flyer. New one should be out soon.
I’m assuming that you are Mormon.
I know its frowned upon..but you could buy with credit card and pay back with cheaper dollars later as inflation climbs
Are there any prepping Treepers closeby who can lend a hand to InAZ? We have to look out for each other….
I hoped I was wrong on many things. My gut told me then Sundance told me. I fear I’m right about those things. When Biden admin says something bad is going to happen, believe them because psychopaths love to drop hints the same way arsonists like to watch things they torched.
Thought LDS in good standing could tap the warehouses in a true emergency? Maybe we are about to reach that emergency level?
I’ve spent the last year perfecting sourdough bread making skills. Got the process down pat now.
Also have built up a stock of dried sourdough starter as well as my weekly starter I keep regularly fed and in the fridge.
I was really getting decent at making sourdough around this time last year and sorta stopped due to an awesome bakery opening up nearby. But first I’ve heard of dried sourdough starter. I guess I need to search that.
Once a month after feeding my refrigerated starter I take the discard of the previous week’s feed and dry it.
All I do is spread it out real thin on parchment paper & leave it alone for about two days. Once it’s dried out I break it up into pieces and store in small jars in my pantry.
I started doing this out of concern of power outages. Didn’t want to loose my starter that I now have built up to be rather potent with regular feedings every week over the last year.
Neighbors haven’t hit me up yet, but my kids and grandkids always go home with loaves of sourdough bread. I make up loaves and freeze them so usually have plenty on hand. 😁
Good to learn these skills and pass along, because Each OF US MAY BECOME THE ONE’S WHO HELP OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY, IN OUR RESPECTIVE AREAS LITERALLY SURVIVE. We will need to be the Leaders/Helpers, the ones who know what to do when the Sh…..t Hits the Fan and people are in fear.
Everyone wishes they were your neighbor, Suburban!
Amen!!
The smell alone would make me feel good, even if she doesn’t want to share. LOL.
At the very least, she’ll probably be an inspiration to her neighbors to start baking some bread of their own!
I wish y’all were all my neighbors, too, for more reasons than sharing food. 😂🤣
Imagine having our own CTH community!
One of my luxury purchases was a grain mill. I have 25lb buckets of Augason farms red/white wheat. I don’t eat bread, but in an emergency I will!
I have enough yeast to hold me over in case I ever have to get down to making my own starter. If it gets down to where we have to make starter from scratch, we are in trouble!
Best place for yeast is in the freezer
Bert, starter from scratch isn’t complicated, just a daily deal for about ten days to get the bacteria growing that creates the sour flavor and the gases that cause the bread to rise. Then you can go to weekly feedings to keep the bacteria fed and building up stronger & stronger.
No yeast needed. Just bread flour & whole wheat flour & water to start out. Then each day (week) feed a bit of previous day’s (week’s) starter with fresh flours and water.
I waited a most 5 months for a bread machine in early 2021
Well worth the wait!
I remember the bread machine craze of the 80s and then finding them in practically every yard sale for $5
I don’t do sourdough, but I always have lots of yeast and flour, since I mostly make my own bread. I buy yeast by the pound and keep it in the freezer.
I’ve not done the dried but recently heard about it. I have been making SD bread for years now, but recently have come across a system where there is no extra to discard, which is perfect for just the two of us. No sense wasting perfectly good starter. Fixed income here with almost nothing extra to spare … we do what we can with what we have and remember that He is Jehovah Jireh … our provider.
I always kept the original starter going. Never threw anything away. Just kept adding to it forever it seemed.
Was I doing something wrong/ deadly? Well, not delay at least, since I’m still here. heh.
Will the national guard be enlisted to take control of the supply chain ? Trucks driven by guard members, ports operated by the Navy, etc? I could see total control, goverment doubling down.
One thing that might also emerge: robust black markets.
They may be enlisted to guard stuff, but to take people from the job they do in order to do another job does not generate additional resources.
Also, not every guardsman is a certified truck driver. So, although Government House may chose this route, it won’t fix a solved problem that they broke.
Alfred E Buttegieg should be speaking speaking with his Canadian counterpart right now to avoid this disaster but you know it’s the furthest thing from his mind. The man is an idiot of the highest order. Bu the way I can confirm from first hand discussion with a POLA dock worker that Sundance is right. The problem is not fixed and the ships have been asked to stay further off shore to stay out of line of vision. FJB will be dumbstruck by this as well as he sees in further than nose and has been an idiot and buffoon his entire life. If theres a positive Buttegeigs career will be over. But we are in the hands of idiits and ideologues on both sides of the northern border.
True because he is mindless.
Does he not know about marinetraffic.com? There are numerous others as well. AIS, a transponder-type system similar to what is used in aircraft, is open data. Moving the ships out of visual range from shore does nothing. Until they cut the internet, that is…
Buttigieg is speaking with his Canadian counterpart and everything is going according to plan. Charlie Foxtrot, as DeSantis would say.
My entire family is convinced since I shared the article earlier this week, they know who Sundance is. Added 1 month x3 to my existing 3 weeks x3 persons existing stash. Additionally I told my nearby daughter to stock up and I would pay. I also got a bunch of junk meals and snacks for the grandkids. Liquor is topped off, but I need to stock up the beer this weekend
Additionally I just saw President Biden fly over looking at the fire damage. At least 100 people waiting to see him at the Louisville, CO Recreation and Senior Citizens Center. We dodged a bullet when the winds died down 8 days ago stopping the Boulder County fire 1.6 miles west of our house. I have to develop a contingency plan for wildfires next!
What a great gift for your daughter.
In Australia , which has
95% double vaxed. One of the country’s major supermarkets has said 20% of their warehouse staff and 10% of delivery drivers are in isolation. This is causing random shortages of products on shelves. But there are alternatives on
shelf.
This is without aust crippling movement of truckers.
Don’t believe those numbers, Tim, or anything else from there for that matter. Our Mungrel has been correcting a lot of misinformation lately.
If that is Woolies, Tim, they have been sacking staff for some weeks now – particularly anyone who isn’t inclined to suffer the jab.
Then, they have also been simply ‘reducing numbers’ of employees, as well. [Both from inside source].
A week ago there were a few bare patches on the shelves – yesterday a lot more bare shelves and freezer/chiller cabinets were down to half or less. Chilled pre-packaged meats were in short supply, as well.
Also noticed a pallet jack of frozen spud products that had apparently been sitting in an aisle for quite some time as the boxes were starting to collapse.
No toilet paper, a dozen or so packages of hand towels, probably twice that number of boxes of tissues.
Quite a few items that are on the regular weekly shopping list simply not available…
Thx for the reminder.
Been putting off getting AC Filters for a couple months now. But! Seems like just the kind of thing that’ll get mixed up in a supply chain h*ll.
So, I finally got motivated. Done!
I’m getting new tires and brakes done Monday, because when I needed it by the end of the year those parts may not be open and the stores may even be closed, Get your Extra Oil for cars, etc also! Maybe even a new battery for later on as well,
Literally not tracking on this one wrt the USA. We’re talking about 1% of the truckers here and partial disruption of CA agricultural flow into this country. I realize that a trigger event doesn’t have to be huge but this doesn’t feel like enough. Not seeing any real shortages here in TN, only spot interruptions. Price raises are a given but there’s not much I can’t do without. Could be real trouble in hot mess that is CA.
In TN too. Plenty here, but our population is small in comparison to ports of entry states. Search for major distribution hubs. I did notice in a local Walmart a lot of empty shelves. Dollar General was really sparse. Costco well stocked in Murfreesboro. All that to say, the real problem is Just in Time delivery systems – the weakest link is transportation. Long haul truckers are going to be seriously impacted, more than they already are. The trucking issue will have a domino effect.
Big lots where I am in Eastern Tn pretty much out of canned tomato products.
Cashier said their trucks are not arriving
My brother, who is a truck driver, said he was offered $24K to make a SINGLE delivery from MN to Seattle, WA. He didn’t say what product he was supposed to deliver, but that should give you an idea about the price increases you are seeing: truckers who are still trucking are making bank, but they are exhausted. Add in the soaring costs of fuel, the regulations, now the vaxx mandate–well, I presume many will be parking their trucks for a while and enjoying time with the family.
As an aside, my other brother is a pilot with a major airline. This week, he was offered $11K to take one 3-4 hour flight between two points in the continental US. Don’t know if it was cancelled along with hundreds of other flights.
It’s brutal out there….
I live in rural southern middle TN. Empty shelves are regular occurrence. Missing items are different from trip to trip. Have to visit more than one store to meet family needs.
I’ve heard this from other rural folks, north and south. Hope your men folk can go back to hunting/fishing like a century ago…….you’ll have to in order to survive. Colonial America once more! Get out your “Squirrel Shooters”
If you bake you may want to add evaporated milk to your prep. Do not get the sweetened kind. Evap. milk diluted 50/50 with water will substitute okay for fresh milk in many recipes. Maybe powdered milk is an option, haven’t looked into that.
I’m practicing stretching supplies. For instance, one can of cream of mushroom or celery or chicken soup in a crockpot with a small amount of chicken or vegetables will cover a lot of rice or biscuits. If no electricity, it still can be done on propane or open fire.
Powdered milk is good. Keeps a long time. It is useful for making pizza dough. – add ham and pineapple and wa-la!
Exactly right about the evaporated milk.
You remind me of our farm childhood, we kids loved Mom’s stewed chicken with peas in a thick gravy with dumplings on top.
That meal would stick with you after a hard day of weeding, brush cutting and wrangling up stray sheep.
We didn’t have much extra in the food department so the lean days were biscuits and some kinda gravy. There were all kinds of grilled greens gleaned in the woods. Visiting town kids were shocked that we grilled and consumed nettle.
I never missed a day of school which I attribute to the massive fruit & nut orchard plus wild greens which mom insisted we eat and snack on.
Fat is your friend it will stave off hunger, keeps brains active and helps regulate body temp.
And you reminded me of my childhood, Farmkid. We didn’t live on a farm but my mother cooked dandelion greens in the spring, picked wild elderberries and crabapples for pie, could make a delicious casserole no matter what was left in the fridge, a natural cook, never followed a recipe. We never drank sodas, milk at every meal. Strong teeth!
Also like you, rarely missed school except to shore up my immune system with measles, mumps and chicken pox.
Bring on the ATKINS DIET (fat, protein, fat , protein….!!) You right! Also, yes NETTES is highly nutritious as long as people handle with gloves (the stinging thingies!) until cooked. Once cooked…great in stews, sautee for salads, etc. People should get books on the Native Plants for their region….it will become necessary to forage when supplementing a limited diet!
I keep evaporated milk in the pantry, and also full fat dry milk powder. By the way, they now have lactose-free evaporated milk, for those who have that issue (I do.)
I have never seen whole milk in powder form, only non-fat. Is it an on shelf item or do you have to internet it?
Non fat powdered milk, add a tbs or 2 of veg oil, put in blender.
Excellent idea, Johnny Reb………..thank you!
Many food companies carry it. The groc store has a spanish brand that is whole milk and very good cold, a medium can about $16 last I knew, probably 20 now, Sams was out was going to get a big one. Check the net for long term food storage and you will be amazed what is out there that is freeze dried.
Walmart has it, and Kroger also, usually at the International for section.
&f=1&nofb=1
I ordered mine on line. Amazon has it.
I just checked, and Walmart has a couple of different brands on line.
I also like Parmalat, I bought a few.
They don’t need to be refrigerated they are vacuumed sealed. Lasts months.
&f=1&nofb=1
I think these are usually at the baking section, just ask somebody.
They have lactose free and I believe 2%
&f=1&nofb=1
Good to get soups, especially acidic soups like tomato to store in these containers. Maybe not as cheap as canned soups but probably better for you for long term storage.
I ordered this too, but I had some go bad in storage.
Pineapple juice, yeast and sugar -> Hawi’ine.
Store shelves are bare of necessities already in north central NC. Employees, when questioned, say they never know what they’ll get until it arrives and do not expect anything to arrive soon.
In Western NC it’s been like that for 2 years. Lots of empty shelves and employees say they put in the orders but things just don’t show up. Really odd ball stuff, too…like medium sized trash bags….just not around but plenty of large…all in all, I manage to get what I need and want but I eat a lot of organic, so I visit 4 stores each week to get what I want and then occasionally go to a fifth. I am pretty well stocked up.
This ain’t FUBAR. It’s Charlie Foxtrot!
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Review the story of Noah, Joseph, and many New Testament stories (7 virgins, the talents, etc.)
I’m no Bible scholar but I think that verse is about worrying, not about sitting around waiting to be provided for.
Me either, Yet I’m pretty sure it is about doing Gods work and he will provide the rest.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal
Todd, thank you for this. We would all do well to meditate on this.
Maybe even tack Todd’s post on our pantry entryway and on our fridge.
Social Security just issued a cost of living adjustment of something like 6%. If the adjustment next year is 20-40%, what does that do to the longevity of the Social Security program?
Hard to say. Depends on how many elderly are killed in the longer term by the endless deadly vaccinations. About 5% get the death/disablement shots based on vaccine lot data/VAERS data, rest are probably getting normal saline. Can’t kill too many all at once, because the sheep might get alarmed.
I said that at the beginning of COVID. Europes “FREE” healthcare/pensions and housing. They are relieved thousands of elderly died!
Yesterday’s sheep, today’s sheep, tomorrow’s sheep. We’re all in the lineup somewhere, in the eyes of those who would shear us.
They also just upped the medical deduction to $170 so the increase is not that great…
Plus our supplemental insurance went up also, so our increase was negligible.
Thank you Sundance. Thanks to you, my family is prepared.
Donated today. Hope everyone does the same. God bless.
Mandates and shortages not a good start for the year! The Democrats, leftists, progressives, globalists control the White House, Congress, the Forth Branch, the DOJ/FBI, the “woke” military, big tech, and all major TV and print media! So I was wondering if they’re so concerned about losing some of that power this year in November are they hoping for riots to be pinned on President Trump supporters aka WTP over these coming massive shortages which they are purposefully creating? “You know the thing” never let a serious crisis go to waste? They read Sundance, they know what’s coming what will be our response? I’m in my 70s and I have never experienced anything like what is coming I’ve been so blessed to have been born, live and work in this once great country! Will there be an open second coup d’etat supported by the military to make Democrat control permanent triggered by the faux riots? Anyone else concerned about another Federal entrapment like J6 but on a much larger scale? Just wondering?
My almost 83 yr old father is a Veteran, and honestly this is bringing up old traumas. Really worried for veterans out there of all ages, who are not dealing well with what is happening to this country right now. So many over the centuries of our history here have fought and died for the very Freedoms that are being taken away. On the other hand, these very veterans wonder why the heck the younger, abler folks are not doing something about it. Not just in this country but also in Australia. One fellow in Austria said “we have fallen first in Europe now because we are smaller, only 9 million of us” bizzarely he doesn’t realize what he is saying, NINE MILLION cannot kick out the few that are doing this tyranny to their people? Has he even researched the French Revolution?! Listen people, we are really ALL complicit until this thing gets really uncomfortable. And I have to say if people abuse their own children with suffocating Coffee Filters on their faces and toxic, likely sterilizing jabbs, repeated jabs likely then we have SICK countries to weak to stand for long. God help us all.
When the people with EBT cards get pizzed, I sincerely hope they go to the homes of the shite politicians and burn their houses down. The EBT people can get away with it because they are a protected group.
What good are food stamps when there is no food?
Almost as good as pockets full of gold and silver (coins, bullion etc), nothing available, can not buy anything.
Farmers who have food probably won’t sell, They wouldn’t take food out of their family members mouths.
No, but people just outside their farms will come for that food, That;s a worry. The Amish should be worried for the same reason.
Right, and because the indigant, etc. are already under govt control and subsidies, etc, they have never been required to take the jabs. Interesting. Nor the ones controlling this whole scheme who live in mansions and work in high political offices (without naming those organizations here, but also include members of Congress for example(.
TARFU!
Really appreciate the heads up for the timeline; won’t be able to do too much more prepping combination of timing of social security and regular costs of living, so please Treepers, consider the widows and seniors out there in your neighborhood or small tribe if you’re able to add a bit here and there for them, especially those who have been so isolated over the past few years not aware of what’s really happening.
Years ago, in the carefree years of youth, was in the grocery aisle and a lady, a widow, was debating whether or not she could afford the can of tuna or the small box of soda crackers. The image (and yes, did pay it forward for her that day) has never left my mind, or heart; and have when possible continued to do those small gestures.
Pretty sure those gestures going forward will be ever more important.
Thank you for the kind reminder Bessie!!
Already on it, Bessie, but a wonderful reminder. Many will need help.
What is it about women named Bessie? Every one I’ve ever met has been sweet and kind.
A-men, Bessie. God-providing, when it gets bad, I’ll stroll the aisles and see the need and quietly help.
I remember my mom using green stamps books. And taking products off the belt when we overshot our budget.
There were no credit cards in those days. If you didn’t have the cash you had to put it back.
‘Look, there is no federal solution’
Except for the one IMO might well be implemented, to fix the supply chain you broke, to fix Big Meat, Big Ag, Big all the companies who you claim are screwing American consumers BECAUSE of your policies . . .
Nationalization.
My wife began stocking up within days of the uncle joe selection. She decided to pick up a medium sized freezer, maybe a few extra canned goods, just in case. Soon we had another freezer and a vacuum sealing machine. Back around April another freezer and a wire shelving unit wound up in my home office. Said shelves are filled with canned goods and other shelf stable items. She doesn’t even read blogs or pay attention to articles like this one. Hopefully things won’t go sideways, but if they do, we have over a year’s worth of supplies. Those freezers are $100 more now than when we bought ours.
Your wife sounds like a Proverbs 31 woman! You are a blessed man!
The US and the world have been conditioned to minuscule interest rates and helicopter money by central banks terrified of what will happen if they don’t.
You can prop up any financial instrument or real asset by providing near free money to buy it.
But in the end you must debase the currency.
The good news for the US is it’s all relative, I can see no other alternative to the US$ as the worlds reserve currency, no matter the US’s ominous debt position, no matter the unsustainable welfare claims on the US budget…. the US$ will reign supreme until the money supply goes Weimar. Only then will you see IMF drawing rights replace it for international commerce. That’s far, far away. That probably means a devalued domestic $ remains for the plebs.
2 things.
The first is that there is a large lumber distribution center on my walking route and as we were walking and talking about lumber shortages we noticed that the warehouse was full. I do mean full. My point is that when I hear about prices and shortages and higher prices I expect to see the 200,000 square foot facility close to empty, not lumber to the ceiling. Now maybe that has nothing to do with anything but it is a weird optic. This company runs their own trucks.
Secondly on our local school fb page parents are not being shy about saying it is the vaccinated that are sick. This is definitely a new thing.
The Let’s Go Brandon administration, Congress and the SC are all in, at least in terms of covid. Food shortages will not help them.
A possibility: distribution center is parking materials until the price rises on their investment. That speculation happens routinely with commodities offshore.
This dude was just out deer shopping

on top of all that we get 2-4in of snow and the dairy shelves are pikd clean in 4 hrs unless you want skim milk?😠 wen a real emergency happens, “we’re doomed we’re all doomed!”😉 white pills needed
Don’t Panic ?
Sundance!
As my wife just asked me, for how long?!?
We know we have less than 2 weeks now.
For How Long Sir!?!
Thanks in Advance
🙌🏼❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼❤️🙌🏼
and I’m not interested in comments except from Sundance😬
Ps
Sundance is my brother from another mother 😘
My best guess on shortages, = Six to eight months.
Think of the exit like the same timeline as a harvest schedule.
As for prices, it’s permanent. However, the prices end up at the end of eight months is the baseline from that moment forward. I would estimate on average about 20 to 40% more from where they are right now.
Thank you, Sundance.
Wouldn’t hurt to keep a bicycle up and running in case of gas shortages. Not a great way to travel during icy weather, but during spring and summer seasons a mountain bike might be my only transportation if the gas pumps are shut down. I have an old 21 speed mountain bike that’s been sitting on the front porch for a few years. Meanwhile I’m staring at shelves in my dining room that are stocked with VanCamp’s beans, spam, canned fruit, and veggies.
Don’t forget cases of bottled water, batteries, flashlights, matches, etc. I can do without beer. Coffee is a must have…
I’m still employed, haven’t gotten the jab. Never will. Some of the vaccinated staff tested positive for covid where I work. Including the ADON. They’re going to be out for at least a week, maybe 10 days. Nursing homes in my area are already experiencing staff shortages. I refuse to quit. Waiting for the Supreme Court decision on vaccine mandates.
Stay strong, Treepers, and hold the line.
Godspeed to all of you.
The Supply Chain Task Force is what is the most threatening about our position now. The same people who screwed it up are being assigned to fix it.
Guy–Excellent observation.
In southern Florida and vegetable food is grown all around us and lots of local fishing so all might be ok in that regards. BUT convenient “necessities” from other placed could get very scarce. Things like toothpaste, toilet products, feminine hygiene products, prepared frozen food and Makers Mark Bourbon (must have ).
.
I hope Gov DeSantis will find a way to get our citrus , vegetables and other fruits to surrounding states.
Don’t forget to add a tooth kit to the toothpaste! Dentists are fully vaxxed, so highly likely to keep getting sick!
Yes, I wonder how long my dentist and nurses and physicians (jabbed) will be around. Get your teeth fixed, cleaned, etc NOW.

That’s a great way to start a run. Store will be wiped out by tomorrow afternoon.
Price hikes!
Harris Teeter in my area has been closing at 9 since last summer. As a matter of fact they just changed it 10 around November.
Don’t forget your precious metals: copper; brass; and lead.
I lived in Moscow in 1992 as the old food distribution system was breaking down and the free (freer) market had not yet taken over. People from Georgia and the South of Russia where produce grows abundantly would drive giant dumptrucks full of food to Moscow, park somewhere, and sell it right out of the truck until it was gone.
I remember a mountain of watermelons near the apartment building where I was staying and three guys with large knives who camped out there until they were all sold. By 1994, the market had done its magic and the food stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg were well supplied.
I can’t quite envision how people in the U.S. would try to make a buck and work around food shortages, but I’m pretty sure there will be a black market or, say, alternative distribution channels.
Here in southern Arizona I imagine people will drive into Mexico for produce and supplies to sell or for their families. Sadly ironic.
Now. Now.
Be patient and vote MOAR HARDERER next time!
Bought 4 ten pounds of flour in late October to stock up and just threw it all away. Every bag a different manufacturer dated fresh for late summer and they were all full of those tiny tiny bugs. Guess I have to freeze it. Some stuff just won’t keep!
I know it sounds icky, but I think those tiny bugs are kinda “ok”.
I mean, as long as there aren’t a TON of ’em.
Some climates are harder to store flour in than others.
Yep, Just pick out the bugs, once everything cooked I am sure it’s fine to eat. When we are starving we won’t care. In a pot of water the bugs may just float up to the surface to skim off.
I’ve been buying flour in 25 lb bags for years, and store it in the freezer after filling a bunch of 1 gallon storage bags with it. Works great.
Here in the south those tiny little bugs are common in flour, rice, grits and pastas. Stick a few bay leaves in your bags when you buy them and it will keep the bugs away. Another way to kill any larvae that may be in your grains is to gas it with propane. You can store in 5 gallon buckets and just run a propane hose connected to a small propane bottle down in the bucket and turn it on for 5 minutes. Will kill any bugs and larvae. Not harmful to humans.
Place it in a food grade plastic bucket that has a good seal and put oxygen absorbers in the bucket. No oxygen no bugs.
Bugs and worms are why I don’t buy flour or dried legumes. I don’t have the freezer space.
you can dust your pantry shelves with diatomaceous earth. Yes, it means your pantry shelves (and bags and cans) are covered with fine dust (I put some in an old sock and tap it so it comes out as a fine powder) — but it also means that bugs cannot get into your bags. Maybe the bugs were already in the bags. But at least they won’t escape and get into your other bags and boxes. This really does work.
I rubbed that stuff into the back half of my dock, especially the rear area where fleas love to hang out…..dessicates the exoskeleton of the little critters without poisoning my dog. Great on indoor carpeting to during flea season , but then for a whole day I keep dog sequestered away from area (gated off) and next morning you can hear the crunchy sounds as zillions of fleas sucked up in vaccuum.
Yep, course milled grits, flour and other grains must be Frozen for long term storage or you get your “protein” with the bugs.
I know I shouldn’t but I geniunely hate Joe Biden’s guts and I hate the DNC’s guts. He is the face of this debacle but this is all backed up by the entire DNC. I despise every last one of them and I despise their media cheerleaders even more.
Why not? King David declared his hatred for those who hated God and he was a man after God’s own heart.
Psalm 139:21
Acts 13:22
My Dad was a generations Democrat and a veteran, That ended when JFK was “done in” and then that Johnson got in there next and really got that war going in Nam……..the war my father barely survived and where he lost so many, many good young men. He hasn’t voted for “those bastards” since.
How will distribution of limited resources work? Will D.C. / NOVA/Bethesda area get first priority? Can’t see the ruling class doing without. Will red states be last on the list?
Would be great if the truckers make that decision.
I live in the area you mention and the shelves in some of the larger chain groceries are not well stocked. They used to be filled front to back. Now there is a thin row of whatever at the front of the shelf. Sometimes in the meat department they spread out one kind of meat, not stacked on top of each other, but a single layer, to make it look not so empty. For now, produce is in good supply. It is the fresh meat, certain frozen foods and many staple items (canned goods, grains, sodas) which are not well stocked.
The independent groceries fare better because they have a more flexible supply chain — they get creative and manage to locate needed items.
There always unintended consequences. I would not be surprised to find/learn that Jeff Bezos and his Amazon Empire benefits greatly from this impending crisis.
I have already planted two gardens. Here in Florida we have two growing seasons. I am also putting a bunch of new chickens in our chicken house for eggs and meat. Hunting season saw a nice big deer contributing to one of my freezers. I figure that things can only get worse with the communists running the country and using an old man with Alzheimer’s disease as a front.
