Here’s the fact bomb that silences Canadians almost immediately when delivered.
In December 2024 then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, told President-elect Donald Trump that Canada could not comply with a renewed trade agreement based on reciprocity because: (1) Canada had deindustrialized; their manufacturing was now “light” manufacturing and assembling of component goods made by others. (2) Canada had legislated energy policy based on climate change, and high carbon emitting industrial production was no longer an option [coking coal burning etc.]. (3) The NATO military spending goal was too high for Canada to reach [they were 19th and it wasn’t a priority because the USA was the crutch]. (4) Internal provincial rules, restrictions and cross-border trade regulations did not align with a Canadian federal trade policy effort, and (5) the political power of the ‘dairy cartel’ inside Canada tied the hands of Canadian trade representatives.
That was the gist of it. That’s why Canada cannot now or ever find a path to a U.S. reciprocal or balanced trade agreement. #1 and #2 is specifically why Canadian govt officials repeatedly use the word “intertwined.” They say intertwined because they can no longer function separately. Canada is economically dependent on proximal and economic subsidies from the United States.
That outline by Trudeau led Trump to say that Canada should then become a 51st state….. And, well, you know the rest. Someone in Canada should ask Trudeau about it. The former Prime Minister has no reason to deny it, and too many people were witness. Then, perhaps, Canadians will understand.

Historian and political Pundit Victor Davis Hanson gives his review of the current status. I would refute the point that VDH makes about Mark Carney “not knowing what he is doing” and the resulting chaos will come as a surprise.
VDH is well intentioned. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney knows exactly what he is doing. Carney’s antagonism is a feature of his commonwealth alignment with the European union, and understanding that takes you to a very dark place in this geopolitical dynamic.

It would be one thing if they announced OK, we’re light manufacturing, greenie energy, etc. and admitted they’ve become a vassal state of the US.
That’s not what happened; they’re a vassal state of the PRC and EU trying to con us into allowing the people who want us destroyed to use Canada as a lever. Carney didn’t say “we can’t do the deal you want because we’re trying to kill you” but fortunately many here including the Trump administration have this secret technique called “deduction.”
(hint: so do the Demonrats – but they’re working *for* the enemy).
Lutnick makes a great point about the gas tax in California and her reply is, “are you saying people are not FEELING inflation”, how do you interact with this type of willful ignorance? That interviewer is obtuse in the extreme. Tariffs serve a useful purpose, you are never going to convince these dunderhead media types or liberals/progressives etc, THEY NEVER and I mean NEVER look at the long term ramifications of their policy! NEVER! They are the ones that stripped the USA of manufacturing, destroying entire small middle class towns, creating dependence on countries that hate us or are antithetical to us, i.e communist, islamic, etc. and I am old enough to remember the a*shol*s saying, we will become a service economy and it will make up for no longer being a country that makes things! Well guess what, DAILY the small business I work for gets calls and emails from India, and elsewhere and private equity firms (i.e. evil, greedy entities) that want to “invest” in our business which is code for as soon as the ink dries on the dotted line we will co-opt your business, dictate the service you provide, remove you from decision making based on what is good for your CUSTOMER and hook you up to a call center in Indiana so fast your head will spin. Then what? We don’t make anything, and our service industries are shipped overseas too. Then what? So sick of the short sighted and sick to death of globalism.
This was former PM, Jean Chretien, at the 9/11 get together in Gander yesterday (US planes were diverted there on 9/11).

This man is one of the chief architects of the embarrassing state we, in Canada, are in today. Here are some of the others –

Thank you very much, Sundance! I appreciate your assessment that VDH knows clearly the bent of those running the scam; he just doesn’t want to receive their wrath.
The deindustrialization of the USA and that is little sister Canada, may come clear in digesting David Rockefeller’s oped “China Traveler” published in the New York Times August 1973.
It’s all to do with their quest of eliminating competition. Once true thinking citizens wake to reality the tyrants have no chance.
