Welcome to the new “democratic norms” in the industrialized west as Germany seizes the private assets of Russian owned energy company Rosneft; because oil refining is critical to fuel prices and German has just realized their vulnerability.
Within this new Build Back Better system, driven by the policies of western nations, it appears things are changing quickly. Democracy or capitalism in Germany is now quickly dispatched, as socialism -state control- becomes the priority.
Heck, I’m old enough to remember when everyone decried China’s authoritarian economic model for doing the exact same thing as Germany (a few months ago). But, well, we must pretend not to notice these things comrades….
(Reuters) – BERLIN, Sept 16 (Reuters) – Germany took control of a major Russian-owned oil refinery on Friday, risking retaliation from Moscow as Berlin strives to shore up energy supplies and meet its European Union commitment to eliminate Russian oil imports by the end of the year.
The economy ministry said it was putting a unit of Russian oil firm Rosneft (ROSN.MM) under the trusteeship of the industry regulator and taking over the business’ Schwedt refinery, which supplies 90% of Berlin’s fuel.
“This is a far-reaching energy policy decision to protect our country,” Chancellor Olaf Scholz told a news conference to present the government’s plans to put the Schwedt refinery under the control of the Federal Network Agency regulator. (read more)
Who knew economic security was national security?
Now, let’s start talking about USA food exports, shall we?
Also, I’ll take “Things That Won’t End Well” for $1000, Alex.
How is this move not going to end up escalating hostilities? Have to wonder if the next headlines we will see are oil tankers headed to European refineries (once owned by Russia) have been (a) hijacked or (b) sunk.
… or (c) NOT sent and/or re-routed with cargo sold again to another customer (after all turn-about is fair play … OPEC members stuff stolen, so “German Purchased” oil is stolen and re-sold).
Of course Sock Puppet JoeBama will just more US Oil and raise our prices again.
Russia will just pull its people back and tell Germany to enjoy their new refinery… good luck refining though… the crude will not come from Russia… where will it come from? Oh yeah…. the US Strategic reserves….
Sorry–those Reserves belong to China.
Just like the Oval Office.
I agree with that thought about the reserves.
Just wondering though, Is that “Oval”Office you meant, or currently, the “Offal” Office? 😉
It also occured to me that “Offal” is pronounced pretty close to the same as “Awful”.
That seems to me it could be a suitable synonym as well for the current times.
😉
OK, I am done with the funnin around. Just struck me as a bit humorous when it popped into my tired mind when I read your comment.
🙂
GOD Bless ya~
I don’t think we have much left in our strategic reserves.
Yep. They blew their wad too early
That was my response: “Enjoy your refinery with no crude to refine”. But, alas, I forgot that the US Strategic Reserves are no longer reserved for the US.
Whatever is left of them…
Doesn’t sound very strategic, to sell your strategic reserves to your biggest enemy on the planet.
If that’s not treason then there is no treason.
It is strategic–for China.
“Have your colonial governor empty the enemy’s war-time oil supply by transferring it to you–without firing a shot.”–Sunoco Tzu
That depends on what your strategy is. If it is to destroy the US it makes perfect sense.
Are you kidding?… Putin “escalated” hostilities when he invaded multiple countries. Not for concern of people but to control energy output of those countries. Eastern Ukraine is where majority of natural gas resides.
US and Germany must to engage Russia and declare it will not be part of NATO in return for Russia leaving ALL of Ukraine in 30 days . Failing that the West attacks and destroys Russian military forces in Ukraine. Same as we did to Iraq in Kuwait. Trouble is Biden regime is compromised using Ukraine as a money laundering conduit.
You joining up or sending your family to die there?
There are NO good guys in the Ukraine War. Both sides are evil, the Russians less so than the US, NATO, EU and G7.
The US, NATO and EU are just as dirty as the Russians. They are the instigators of the war as well as the roadblocks who stopped ALL diplomatic solutions, once Sock Puppet JoeBama took office.
This is my unbiased observation as well.
The US and Johnson when he was PM shut down all negotiations with Russia early on.
My goodness, I’m sensing an all out war with Russia, which will not submit to demands from the warmongering US government is what you are looking for. A third world war? Only this time with nukes??
I suggest you start reading The Saker every day for a clearer eyed view of what is actually going on. Here is the link…
https://thesaker.is/
Betsy jones. Good advice.
She ain’t steered me wrong, yet.
Bless your heart, CR. And in your case I mean this in the nicest way possible, my friend.
My dear friend Betsy has a solid and informed view of things! She knows of what she speaks!
I thank you, Aggiegirl. I’m so glad you count me as that, because I count you one as well.
As it looks to me, Neo-cons are among those who want war with Russia.
Sepp, I believe you are not wrong, no matter how much I wish you were.
In fact, given the history of a couple of well known ones, I’d even say they wish it more than the reprehensible factions and mouthpieces within this government.
Cheers Betsy,
From the “ get go” that site has been a tremendous read.
The identifying of the West as “ The Empire of Lies” was brilliant.
Western MSM lies, lies and more lies all the time.
Evening, Dekester.
Someone here whose name I shamefully cannot remember directed me towards it, and I will be forever grateful.
And yes! Though I remember the brilliance to read in full “The Empire of Hate and Lies”. I knew I’d discovered a gem. Can any informed, sentient human being deny that this is not true?
Cheers, my friend. Going to watch the Queen’s funeral on Monday. Still can’t believe it….
Yes her Highness was truly one of a kind.
Cheers!
Join up and go fight then. Leave the rest of us the hell alone because we want nothing to do with that damn war.
Really?
Way too late for the non-NATO, “We’ll behave too” promises.
That was the pre Feb.2022 deal, or maybe even the first week of the SMO.
Are you doing alcohol or opiates after watching so much legacy TV?
As for 20th century policy residues, the Russophones are where they are and Ukraine needed to deal with the ethnic-political problems honestly instead of genocidally. Genocide / ethnic cleansing as an implemented policy has downsides when the ethnic group has a large military and abundant, real WMD.
Trouble is the Biden regime is hell bent to destroy the US and western civ for their CCP paymasters and the elite American Bolshevik descendents.
I’ll stand with Russia and Putin and you can just give Zelenskyy big sloppy kisses like the rest of the progressives.
That “money laundering “ benefit is why JoeBO needs this conflict to continue. Also, Lots of secrets in Ukraine that could be spilled if the hush money were to dry up or if Russia gains access to the sites where the “research” labs were.
“JoeBO” isn’t the only one who needs this to continue, Mark. I dread to think of how many more. Both Rs and Ds.
Sorry- Russia did nothing wrong. They are defending their national security from NATO infringement. It’s their right regardless of your feelings. Not our business.
If you supported the US invasion of any Middle Eastern country under the auspice of “National Security,” then you cant say Putin is wrong for the same.
Ukraine borders Russia. We had to cross an Ocean, jump the continent of Africa (via the Suez Canal), and traverse the Persian Gulf to get to the countries we declared a threat.
You could not be more wrong. NATO ws nit in Ukraine, and had no plans to offer Ukraine membership.
Ukriane was far too infested with Russian corruption and inluence to join NATO in the next generation.
This NATO red herring is laughable. Putin’s revanchst invasion was a grab for resources and land. And to assert himself as the strongman of Europe.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
I didn’t support the US invasion in the Middle East, I was ordered there because Sadam attacked Kuwait to secure its oil. It was World Security against a madman.
No modern army has ever invaded Russia and survived. Putin doesn’t give two shits about his soldiers, he’s pulling adult males off the street and making them conscripts.
Oh, definitely agree, Russia had no right to invade Ukraine or taking the Crimea. Also agree there are no good guys in this, government-wise, the people caught in the middle are the good guys regardless of what ‘side’ they are on, stuck having to figure out how to survive what their governments have created.
Nationalizing another nation’s assets makes me wonder, is there precedent for this move in history; and will such move be done when the US finally wakes up and takes ownership of the farms, meat processing and grain storage businesses being bought up by China one day?
Trying to remember when Mexico nationalized the oil industries, creating a monopoly, how did the US based oil producing companies that had interests in Mexican oil wells get resolved? Would that be a precedent for seeing how Russia and Germany eventually resolve this taking?
The lust for war over there in eastern Europe just seems to be expanding and this move by Germany has the sense there could have been some other way to approach it? It’s Germany’s fault for thinking they had Russia in their pocket as far as oil goes.
This 30 minute The Duran rumble video conversation between the two Alex’s titled “Bakhmut surrounded. Poking at Russia and hoping for escalation” covers a lot of what’s happening in Ukraine, Russia and toward the end the dig into this move today by Germany. It’s packed with so many details had to listen to it twice. These two men seem to have a touch on the pulse of what’s happening on all the sides of the situation.
https://rumble.com/v1kc0il-bakhmut-surrounded.-poking-at-russia-and-hoping-for-escalation.html
There is plenty of precedent for this but only between countries that are at war with one another.
Agree; toward the end of the Duran rumble video linked above these two men get into exactly that, that this move by Germany is the western powers act to goad Russia into openly declaring war, which will then justify further grasping of industries via nationalization by the Germans (and then other western governments, perhaps part of the big re-set is my question if this is how that comes about).
There’s a lot of moves being made on all sides of this equation and guess our role is to elect the right people to make sure our politicians stop pushing everyone toward war. Maybe a big declaration of war is the big October surprise everyone keeps on expecting to see?
Minsk I and II.
Right!
No, I THINK what we are seeing play out, stems or is derived from how Reagan ended the Cold War, by bankrupting the USSR.
That is, ECONOMIC warfare. The CCP watched what Reagan did, and LEARNED.
SO did PDJT; Thats the basis for “Economic Security Is National Security”.
Of coarse, that also means ENERGY SECURITY IS NANTIONAL SECURITY.
EU is screwed, both because they have no energy security, being dependant on Russian energy and windmills.
And, their economic security has been dependant on Uncle Sugar.
So no, I don’t think the kinetic element of this war will escalate, but additional ECONOMIC attacks will.
I really do hope you’re correct on this.
Perhaps the end result will be the dissolution of the European Union itself. Especially since they are now going after their own members Hungary and Italy. Let each individual nation find their own inner strengths, change the way nations interact under a different perspective than the old WWII way of thinking/dividing up the world.
so far the CCP is winning in Ukraine
And now Biden is trying to make America dependent on China for our energy, or at least for the materials for all of those windmills, EV batteries, and solar panels. I despise that POS with every fiber of my being.
It wasn’t how Reagan bankrupted the Soviet union. It was how NATO added multiple countries towards Russia afterwards. There was no need to do so and is a direct threat to Russia.
Let’s not forget to add…. and it was against all diplomacy, assurances, agreements, and treaties given to Russia that NATO would not encroach further eastward!
I thought I was beginning to detect the faint smell of panic coming from Sholz, Baerbock,Habeck and the radical green fantasists which are running Germany.
Only now that whiff is quickly morphing into a stench. An incredibly stupid move one would expect from the same unelected cult worshipers who think sanctioning the one country which has the one thing they need, but don’t themselves have is a good idea.
Agree, panic move.
Am curious to see how this week’s BRIC nations + Turkey and a few others, goes. The meetings between the leaders of these nations has to have both the EU and NATO on their tippy toes trying to learn what China, Russia, India et.al. are planning.
Yes…and I’m reading that this country is leaning very hard, even threatening, Turkey.
I have always thought of Turkey as a complete outlier in NATO. Perhaps a matter of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. As well as for strategic purposes. Erdorgan is the walking , talking definition of a loose cannon.
The SCO (Shanghai Cooperative Organization) has been meeting this week in Samarkand. Russia, China, India, and other Asian states are members, prospective members, or observers. Lots of private meetings with Xi and Putin and other members as well as general meetings. They are working out the elements of this trade alliance which would be huge. Lots of countries want to be independent of the heavy hand of the US and EU.
That’s a huge thing going on our news outlets will probably never talk about because they need to keep the airwaves full of Trump.
Can we say Exxon Valdez on Steroids? That certainly would hasten that green thingy, world wide. And that above scenario could be a real thing.
Why would you assume they don’t want to escalate hostilities? I assume that is exactly why they are doing it.
Starting to see that too.
I think the Germans forgot to nationalize oil and gas wells too. A refinery by itself is just a bunch of rusty pipes
The Germans don’t have any … that is one of the major reasons they lost WWII.
Also, the rationale of President Trump’s warning about dependence on Russia.
The refinery was seized hoping to fill it with oil from any source other than Russia. Good luck on that point because it seems BRICS and OPEC are hanging tough together, so far, in opposition to the G7.
One of the very interesting technological invovations of the NAZIS was their synthetic fuel effort.
Germany has about 20% of their natural gas from domestic drilling. But NO fracking
They could take a few years and develop shallow coal bed methane wells.
“A few years” is too late and they need oil just as badly as they need natural gas.
Less than 20% of gas their needs from domestic sources is a drop in the bucket considering the economic and domestic disasters they face eve one considers only their natural gas dilemma. That < 20% supply was not even enough to slow their major industries from announcing slow downs and shut downs.
Check the weather in Germany. It is dropping to the low 40’s already. My son is going there from Italy next week for a few days to enjoy Octoberfest. I will have to ask him if there was heat in the hotel.
I spent a few years on the West-East German Border on top of either a Sheridan, M-60, M114, M113 or in jeep with no doors.
Yes, it gets very cold even in winters considered to be “mild”. One of the worst winters, while stationed there, actually followed a very hot summer in 1979-80.
Yeah, and the Gretabots will shout “shame shame” and put an end to such reasonable action in Germany’s compromised Bundestag.
too bad futures contracts can’t deliver oil and gas produced from 2025 to prevent freezing and economic collapse this winter.
Outright theft. Nothing less.
Same as TrooDolt taking trucks and bank accounts. Communism. Gubment snatches means of production.
Our natural gas exports here in the US this winter will see prices skyrocketing as the nations useable supplies are squeezed to nothing.
It’s called a sellers market … those suffering will not be the exporters and it is all by design.
Dave Walsh talked on the WarRoom today about how what is going in Europe is going to bleed into the USA this winter for natural gas home heating.
https://rumble.com/embed/v1hpilj/?pub=4
I love watching Walsh on WarRoom. Had some great slides about how you cannot depend on solar and wind because there is no consistency.
We’ve been saying it for months.
Ditto that

Germans should keep there eyes fixed on the skys.
I’m not sure vlad will take to kindly to this
Medvedev, just this past week:
If the West continues its “unrestrained pumping of the Kiev regime with the most dangerous types of weapons,” Russia’s military campaign will move to the next level, where “visible boundaries and potential predictability of actions by the parties to the conflict” will be erased and the conflict will take on a life of its own, as wars always do, Medvedev argued. “And then the Western nations will not be able to sit in their clean homes, laughing at how they carefully weaken Russia by proxy. Everything will be on fire around them. Their people will harvest their grief in full. The land will be on fire and the concrete will melt,” Medvedev wrote, before citing a Bible verse from Revelations 9:18.
Which reads: By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulphur issuing from their mouths.
We are entering very dangerous times, led by fools.
https://www.rt.com/russia/562734-medvedev-apocalypse-revelation-ukraine/
Europe has banned all RT broadcasts. Medvedev takes the level of possibilities higher. A warning is how I think of it.
And remember, Putin at the beginning of all this made it very clear that he and his military have (paraphrasing) gamed this all out, and every decision has been made. He was eyeballing the camera when he said it…and I took him at his word.
The US/NATO/EU factions on the other hand give the impression of lurching from one day to the next, from one event to the next, without a clue as to what they are doing.
I believe that Putin is continually wrong footing them, leading them to make mistakes, showing that those leading the US war efforts have no idea how to read him or anticipate his game plans.
And yes, I think the brass here are both way over their skis and out of their depth.
Chilling.
and the crude oil to refine is coming from were? via secure passage? Don’t boats sink? Is this before or after the Saudi’s and friends completely strip the EU of their last ounce of gold/wealth/euro’s?
Venezuela & Germany! A marriage made in …
Even Venezuela already said no to JoeBama and hanging with OPEC.
They could change their minds for the right price if its NAZIS Germany, South America does have their old historical pockets of “Germans” scattered across the continent.
Venezuela is already aligned with China and Russia.
They are also currently a “loyal” member of OPEC, so they are more than just aligned.
They ran their oil industry into the ground and mortgaged the country to China.
Any of this ringing a bell?
Venezuela’s heavy oil is not compatible with Germany’s refineries.
Thanks for that information!
The only country that has the refineries to process Maduro’s heavy crude oil is … the U.S.
… the West is loosing its soul…
The leftist just love control, they really are simply fascists who like nice things, that’s why they’re ok allowing businesses to prosper that support things like BLM, etc. As long as there’s something to grift from then it’s OK.
Got to HAVE it, before you can lose it.
It’s great to see the Father Land is exercising its Nationalist-Socialist powers to better serve the German Workers who are also suffering from inflation and all manner of other things. Clearly they aren’t doing ENOUGH of this National-Socialism because people are still not doing as well.
Real National-Socialism hasn’t been tried yet in Germany /s 🤣
Another step towards war. We can hear the footsteps.
Putin will not fall for that. The Germans are getting desperate, winter is just a few weeks away.
They went full nationalization. You don’t go full nationalization.
More centralized planning is sure to fix things now. /s
We used to mock the Soviets for their centralized planning which led to rationing and empty shelves…it always does…
Russians should disable the refinery and announce to the world that they did it to stop climate change.
Why would anyone take Russia’s side in this beef?
Do you believe Putin went in to clear out the Azov skinheads?
How many of the “Nazis” were swimming in the reservoirs they just bombed? Asking for a friend.
Y’all seem to be confusing your justified disgust for the globalist scum and Euroweenies with defending Putin’s illegal, immoral, and despicable war..
YOU can side with Zelenskyy and the World’s progressives. I’ll stand by the ones they can’t tolerate … the country that builds Christian churches. Progressives just can’t accept that their model communist country is now a Christian nation!
Good call.
It’s complicated for some people to figure out.
I don’t like Germany.
Ukraine was shelling Russian speaking Ukrainians in the Donbass for years. That and NATO encroachment was plenty of justification based on US national security policy. It is naive to ignore everything that led up to this and all the bad consequences of escalating it.
Lol!
I stuns me to see the love for fascist totalitarian murderer Putin oin this site. I’d expect it on Zerohdge, but not here,
Either CTH has been infested with trolls or the Leftst loons are correct and Conservatives have the hots for Vlad’s manly chest,
Fascist totalitarian murderer compared to what country? More Americans are just opening their eyes to our own government’s bullshit and realize the old Cold War black and white, good guy bad guy narrative is just that. Bullshit
Sounds more like you got “the hots” for Zelenskyy’s piano playing bits?
Will the antifascist Anteefers take it to the streets, right? Since their HQ is in Germany.
Russia already knew this was coming, taking the Russian Schwedt refinery.
I never realized the patience of Russia.
I’m sure the United States told Germany yeah go ahead do that we got your back.
However, They called them Kizhal (killjoy) hypersonic missiles which can’t be detected on radar and currently the Western Alliance has no defense. They come either nuclear or conventional depending preference.
I say do us a favor and drop one off in Washington DC on the way to Germany
WTF???
So on the CONSERVATIVE TREE HOUSE we now have Iranian trolls begging for the US to be nuked by Russian hypersonic missiles?? When did this place become Zerohedge?
And by the way, hypersonics light up ALL radars – the issue is not seeing them, it’s catching them.
Not to mention that when the US begins deploying ours next year, they will WORK
Can we please moderate this kind of stuff out?
Censoring speech you disagree with is not conservative FFS. Make a better argument instead of getting triggered and acting like a leftist.
We are re-living the 1930’s, with a world wide famine on top.
Prepare accordingly….
Germany understands that this is an economic war. Seizing foreign assets is part of that. There will be a response.
It’s more like what would have happened if the Axis Powers had declared war on themselves in 1939.
Good point
Trust Merkel and the academic “expert” socialists they said. Everything would be fine they said.
Let’s see now..how would Russia retaliate?
How about the Seinfeld style oil Nazi…”No more oil for you”!
So Shell, BP and Exxon evacuated from Sakhalin Island refineries and assets. Offshore rigs and production partnerships.
McDonalds left. Koch glass left.
Halliburton, Schlumbertger and Baker tool must have left.
Get this folks.
The left portrays us as White Nationalists.
This is pitch white Nationalists!!
Now Germany has no crude to refine.
They blocked fracking a few years ago and their poor production is now worse.
…or, instead of huddling in the dark, cold, broke and hungry, you could have just honored the Minsk Agreements, made Peace with Russia, and told Joebama, Soros, the CIA and Klaus Schwab to take their f*cking Bio-Labs, their Endless War Machine, their Money-Laundering, their black-market Plutonium, their sex, drug and human trafficking and their Color Revolutions and go straight to hell.
Jus’ sayin’.
An interesting note of History is that all those East German “Communists”, who helped the USSR after WWII were actually re-flagged NAZIS.
Both East and West Germany had their fair share of retreaded NSDAPs, and both sides utilized them extensively.
True but the current and recently past President’s of Germany were either trained by the East German sponsored political academy in West Germany (the current President) or was an actual minister in the East German Government (Merkel).
Merkel was actually responsible for the Political Academy attended by the current President in West Germany.
East German NAZIS were used to actually control the country side, while co-opting the West Germans. There was no pervasive de-nazification performed in East Germany only revenge on those considered as “criminal”.
If memory serves, Angela Merkel got her start that way.
She held a major position in the East German Youth Ministry, which included oversight of a Political Academy in West German attended by the current President.
Another interesting coincidence is that a certain Lt Colonel Vladimir Putin, a Commander in the KGB, was station in East Germany at the same time Merkel was in the East German Government.
Angela Dorothea Kaźmierczak / Kasner Merkel
The Poles were reportedly thrilled when she talked about her Polish ethnic background.
“Now, let’s start talking about USA food exports, shall we?” – Sundance
How about we add exports of our natural gas, LNG, crude oil to the Euroweenies and our strategy oil to China to that discussion??? Personally I don’t want to starve or freeze/fry to death for the climate change hoax/build back better bullshit!
Welcome to the new “democratic norms” …..Welcome to the new “demonic norms”.
As damaging as the seizure is to the status of private property, I consider the justification even worse.
This is only considered “acceptable” because the company is Russian. Western governments have completely “otherized” Russians and it is now acceptable to take extra-legal actions against Russian companies and ordinary Russian citizens (that visa ban is still floating around) based solely on their ethnicity.
First they came for the Russians…
The war in Ukraine is an op to justify what they want to do as an emergency measure. Everything is going as planned.
Nationalizing a Russian refinery doesn’t change the energy situation without the gas and oil to feed it.
Another stupid checkers move by the arrogant Germans.
You would think after WWII they would have figured out the oil problem.
Well, that should get the Russians fired up for a touch of energy retaliation. Interesting times for sure.
Will the Biden admin take control of fuel production in the USA?
E
P
A
Does the EPA’s control amount to actually possessing a company, such as described here?
We all know that many EPA regulations are less than ideal (more like onerous) for many companies and others to operate at their best.
(Which President gave us the EPA? Carter?)
The EPA is a Nixon baby.
My next point is not intended to be argumentative, but I would like to clarify a thing or two so we do not misunderstand one another.
Your first post asked about “control of fuel production” and your second post asked about “possessing a company.” Those are different questions because one can “control fuel production” through the regulatory process without “actually possessing a company.”
To oversimplify, the Biden administration exercises “control of fuel production” by refusing to issue or renew drilling permits issued by the Bureau of Land Management. Although not “possessing a company” it can essentially choose how much fuel any company can produce.
The EPA is not the BLM, but the principle is the same; that is why I first mentioned it. Using an oppressive regulatory system it can pick winners and losers in the energy market. It does not “control” companies directly but it can more or less dictate how those companies operate.
A final note. I would draw attention to the fact that the Defense Production Act, which gives the Executive Branch extraordinary power to directly interfere in private industry, has been invoked more and more often since the pandemic began. The current administration has already activated it to fight “the climate crisis,” claiming it is necessary to increase production of “green energy” infrastructure.
So we have A) a declared climate crisis, B) an increasingly weaponized DPA used to interfere in private industry, and C) an EPA which could potentially declare “Fossil Fuel Production” as a imminent threat to public health.
That might sound outlandish but the EPA already tried use the Clean Air Act to enforce regulatory changes. The EPA was attempting to write new environmental laws by issuing regulations, and this June the Supreme Court ruled it did not have the power to do so.
Therefore it is not impossible the EPA might step in and try to “possess a company.” Will that happen? Probably not. However, given the trend towards authoritarianism there is a greater than zero chance it may, and that chance is increasing.
These are the little things that start big wars.
The media is spinning this ad “Germany sees independence in Rosneft swoop” – whaaaat?
Others are celebrating this as a “green move” – seizing for the purpose of cleaning it up. (cough-bullshit-cough)
Russia will certainly respond.
Germany will go dark this winter because its leaders are clinically insane.
Just think how much fun it’s going to be in Europe with no lights, no heat, no food, and millions of trafficked people who don’t belong there competing for resources.
I have been saying for while now, that the Muslims will be the ones who start the rioting. You think they are going to sit idly by, when they cannot feed or keep warm their 8 to 10 kids. They will be burning buildings to keep warm.
It will look like “back home” to them. They will be comfortable in those conditions.
But their last few breaths of air will be clean and the jabs will make their deaths swift. Could have been worse without the boosters and soot.
I think all the snide and jejune comments conveniently forget that Germany’s mistake was trusting Russia to act like a modern Western “Republic.” Russia is a gangster state and gangster economy, and conducts itself in global affairs as would a street gang armed with nuclear weapons.
Using its energy hegemon and its Tsar Bombas as twin brass knuckles, Russia swaggered into Ukraine to steal terriroty and resources fro its neighbor, and said “If anyone has a problem with that first we will freeze you and then we will melt your cities into glass.”
Ignoring this fundamental truth, acting as if it is “uncivilized” of Germany to seize Russian assets to attempt to secure some sort of control over its fuel needs is repugnant. Germany didn’t invade Ukraine, and refusing to fall into appeasement at great cost to their society is morally laudable. Confiscating assets from the warlord nation is no crime..
The Euro weenies shoul have listed to Donald John Trump and ramped up their piers and regasification capacities, as a hedge against Russian aggression. They didn’t and now they will pay the price, as likely will we, shipping our gas to them and driving up domestic prices.
All those pipelines from the ME should be liberated from the regulatory rubber room yesterday.
Our Congress should demand that Europe pay an excise tax that goes to subsidize US pricing for every bit of gas they buy from us. Let them foot the bill for their own green fantasy gone sour.
Nuclear is the only way out of this dead end scam played on the world by European elites. WIth no gas and oil of their own, they got the world lathered up about climate hoaxes and Green energy, getting the ROW to subsidize development costs to provide them with alt options. Windmills and solar cells?? It’s downright absurd.
IMO There’s no modern Western republic.
Western countries are on an intentional suicide mission, in the name of global warming propaganda.
Gates wants to Windows 8 us all.
The USA is a war mongering totalitarian dictatorship run by thieves and perverts. The EU/WEF are Fabian Socialists that don’t mind killing their own population. But Putin is the bad guy. Gotcha.
I’m with you, Brad. The USA is a big bully. We are involved with Ukraine because the sicko who lives in the white house has way too much to lose if Russia pulls it off. We will continue to pay billions to continue on with this situation so the truth stays hidden. I totally blame Biden, not Putin.
Do you stay awake at night wondering when the Ukraine will return stolen Polish land taken by the Soviet Union and given to the Ukraine?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territories_of_Poland_annexed_by_the_Soviet_Union
Yup. Its official. CTH has been overrun with Russio-Iranian trolls.
Now we are on to 80-year old Polish grievances??? Boogystew, your answer to revanchist grievance is what, then? For Russia to invade Ukraine and do what? Return the lands to Poland???
Please try to make some sense
I see. YOU get to decide what is worth fighting for and what should be tossed onto the ash heap of history by being labeled as a mere “grievance”. There are no “Russio-IRANIAN trolls” under the bridge where I live. You share too many points of view regarding the Ukrainian war with Progressive-WEF-Democrats to be taken as anything more than one, yourself.
I’ll back a Christian church builder over your heroes, ANY day of the week!
It’s the NATO expansion. We gave our word it would not happen, when East Germany was incorporated.
That and the Ukrainian genociding ethnic Russians in the Donbass.
And yet none of those things that are in the best interests of American citizens will be done by our president or congress yet you still think they are the good guys.
Und now, vee ahh zee European Venezuela…
Alzo, Herr Trump vass korrekt.
Nationalization of refineries … coming to Bayonne soon. Brandon’s handlers will realize they can replenish the strategic reserve on the cheap by simply confiscating oil from privately-owned refineries. “They need to step up during this time of crisis and do their part” yada yada.
I don’t put anything past them anymore.
That’s only going to “work” once.
There will be no incentive to maintain or upgrade a refinery after that. Intentional industry destruction, opportunistic looting, virtue signaling, the results are much the same.
John Galt realized this and then stopped his “machine”.
[…] sundance […]
Anyone believing this was not first approved by the West is a fool. Maybe not just approved but authorized.
The sides have been chosen and the chess pieces are being moved.
Only sacrificing pawns here.
Europeans. They never learn.
It would not surprise me that the Russian oligarch who owned those refineries was ordered by Putin to shut them down, so Germany is just taking temporary control.
These morons are about to start WWIII. What a bunch of worthless hypocrites.
Please remind me again how these WEF people are “smart” and this is “all intentional” and all of the consequences of their insane policy decisions are part of their master plan.
They are doing SUCH a good job of acting like a bunch of totally disconnected from reality idiots, that they have me fooled.
And WHERE, exactly is the objective evidence to support the notion “this is all part of their plan, and intended.
To me, it looks like the maxim “no war plan survives first contact with the enemy”.
They THOUGHT the ‘rest of the World’ would join in on sanctions with Russia, and the resulting economic isolation would cause Putin to be “overthrown”, and were caught totally unprepared when that didn’t happen, and Putin “flipped the script” on them.
They have totally underestimated the push back from the citisenry rabble, as the very efforts of the Elites is fueling a massive turn to the Right, in elections across the EU.
Hence, they are now fighting a “two front” war; BRICS+ and their own citisenry are both proving to be formidable opponents, and their “plan” is falling apart.
The problem for the Germans will come when the Russians stop the flow of that Urals oil to refineries there that use it now, such as the giant Schwedt refinery on the Polish border. They have no substitutes for the Russian oil as the refineries are fine tuned to that precise blend. When the flow stops, no more gasoline, no more diesel or other products refined from oil. I also learned something very interesting today from an article by Jorge Vilches called, The EUthanized EUropean nat-gas “reserves.” The Germans will be hard pressed to get gas they have stored in those immense underground reserves out without any back-flow pressure from Russian natural gas to push it.
Russia
I’m sure Russia will have to go all in on this one. These thieves and their green new deal. As Sundance stated this won’t end well.
Panic time. The globalist agenda and WEF selected politicians who caused this damage are looking for a scapegoat. Putin is laughing. The Brussels EU unelected bureaucrats have failed miserably. The people like here in Amerika will be fed lies, propaganda and obfuscation. Dare I say worldwide depression.
“Democracy or capitalism in Germany is now quickly dispatched, as socialism -state control- becomes the priority.”
Most of us saw this coming as soon as the EU started forming…
And specifically when it comes to Germany, they have a well earned reputation of always being wrong.
Scholz and Putin are at least 30 feet apart at that table for two.
Bathing problems? Eating too many beans?
Which one is the likely culprit?
…and just like that, Germany = Venezuela.
No different than Cuba or Venezuela, no?
I shared this story from another source a week or so ago, but in light of current events I am re-posting: https://www.pacbiztimes.com/2022/09/07/aera-ventura-countys-leading-oil-producer-sold-to-german-firm/
“Aera Energy, one of the biggest oil and gas producers in the tri-county region, will be sold by its owners, ExxonMobil and Shell, to a privately held German company, IKAV.”
So German climate policies were proven wrong so they take ownership of a Russian refinery to compensate?
So much for private property rights. Sounds likes WEF might have a finger in this one too.
