To say the recent remarks from German Economic and Climate Minister Robert Habeck showcase the stupidity of the western sanctions would be an understatement. In a broad energy policy announcement to the German people, Minister Habeck has announced that natural gas is now urgently being stored and built up in order to survive next winter.
Additionally, the German parliament is being called into emergency session to re-write climate laws allowing coal-fired electricity power plants to be brought back on-line. Essentially, years of German renewable energy investments and initiatives are now being reversed in order to maintain the commitment to NATO sanctions against Russia.
You can read the full translated remarks HERE. Some of the more stunning excerpts are below.
GERMANY – Minister Robert Habeck […] “The situation on the gas market has deteriorated in recent days. The missing quantities can still be replaced, and the gas storage tanks are still being filled, albeit at high prices. Security of supply is currently guaranteed. But the situation is serious. We are therefore further strengthening precautions and taking additional measures to reduce gas consumption.
[…] In order to reduce gas consumption, less gas is to be used to produce electricity. Instead, coal-fired power plants will have to be used more. […] That means, to be honest, more coal-fired power plants for a transitional period. That’s bitter, but in this situation it’s almost necessary to reduce gas consumption. We must and we will do everything we can to store as much gas as possible in summer and autumn. The gas storage tanks must be full in winter. That has top priority, ”said Habeck. (read full remarks)
In order to unbuckle themselves from dependence on Russian pipelines, Habeck also announced that floating Liquified Natural Gas terminals will have to be created so they can source LNG from other nations. Currently Germany has no port system to offload LNG, they will be purchasing and leasing floating ships to act as LNG terminals.
I am reminded of the prior warning to Germany from U.S. President Donald Trump. It’s worth remembering that U.S. media blasted President Trump for being so brutally honest in his NATO remarks where he warned about the danger of Germany being so dependent on Russia for oil and gas. WATCH:
Just about every one of PDJT’s prognostications have turned out to be spoiler alerts. I remember very early in his campaign at one of his rallies he mentioned that we could be energy independent. He said we had enough natural resources to not only be energy independent but we could use the profits from the sale of the energy to payoff the national debt. I really wish the 2020 election hadn’t been stolen. We are in such a hole now and the illegal occupants just keep digging.

For some reason Germany does not seem to want to Go Green just yet.
They are going to fire up their horrible awful nasty coal plants.
For some reason they do not seem to want to force feed their people Green Energy at any cost.
They do not seem to want to make their people Go Green and Freeze Their Rear Ends Off just quite yet.
Back in the ’70s the SME (Society of Mining & Metallurgical Engineers) had a bumper sticker that read: “Stop Mining – Let the Bastards Freeze in the Dark”. We’ve been fighting this anti-carbon idiocy for a long time.
Sadly, I recall using them😁😊🤗

Man I miss President Trump!!
He was actually standing up for us taxpayers! Even when it was obvious that they were all uncomfortable—and he took a lot of flack for it—but it’s why we loved him. It’s s why he had huge rallies and people were loyal—because he was FOR us, not against us; not embarrassed to speak out on our behalf.
I am saving your post… using it to explain why I liked Donald Trump as our President.
Start many conversations with “Man I miss those mean tweets, with gasoline under two bucks a gallon, energy independence, supply chain intact. ”
Now no mean tweets, gasoline north of five bucks a gallon, energy importer, supply chain in shambles.
Then we see how the conversation ensues.
Pious hypocrites.
So much for climate change being the number one existential threat.
Seems the lizard part of their politicians brains has engaged primarily in self-preservation.
Reminds me tangentially, of an old Rothschild quote about not caring who wrote a Nation’s laws if he controlled its currency.
Reminds me of the anecdote about a Rothschild (might have been a Vanderbilt, but still funny) who had a butler who served him tea every night before bed. The butler hated him, and peed in his tea pot every time.
The butler died, and was replaced. The Rothschild (Vanderbilt?) was asked how he like his new butler? Rothschild replied that the butler was OK, but the tea just didn’t taste the same..
Also staying warm.
That is because Climate change is a complete scam, so it can be sidelined and rolled back out whenever they want.
Destroying the economies in the west is real and now.
Money is what controls the world. Every war and clash of civilizations has been over money/resources. I was wondering when the shift away from climate would occur, because a freezing and starving people don’t care about money if it can’t buy food and warmth. Those winters in Northern Europe are cold and damp. They require calories-food, fuel.
A freezing and starving populace is not a governable populace.
Those same arrogant dunderheads were literally laughing at Trump when he warned them during his UN speech about relying on Russia for their energy…
I should point out that it’s a CDU/Green coalition right now and just recently they had to determine if the nuclear reactors were in good enough shape to keep running during this crisis. They foolishly let the Green party members go to inspect them- of course, they failed the inspection…
https://dailycaller.com/2022/03/07/donald-trump-warned-united-nation-relying-russian-oil-german-delegation-laughed/
Maybe Germany’s media will have more backbone than ours and will show that clip on their evening news cast. Karma
German media in this are certainly worse than US media. Trump was and is and will be the devil
They don’t.
Oh, Carrie, that’s a great observation
“They foolishly let the Green party members go to inspect them [German nuclear reactors]
– of course, they failed”
At the federal level in Germany its a SPD/Greens/FDP coalition. There is though a CDU/Greens coalition in several states with reactors (not in Bavaria though, where there is one reactor). There are big demands by the industry to keep those reactors running. But to be honest, this might pose problems. Where to get the fuel from (no provisions for that, from Russia??) and where to get the staff from (retired, gone elsewhere).
Germany closed its last hard coal mine in 2018.
The largest supplier of coal to Germany was the Russian Federation.
Nuanced examination of those two statements might reveal potential problems with this decision.
Energy is mass. Mass is energy.
Without doubt, future generations will find the concept of an energy shortage the most laughable notion about us.
Depending who wins the current culture war, future generations will not even know what has really happened in 2022. The victor writes the history.
They used to burn witches at the stake. Our progress has come crashing down.
If they can restart a shut down coal power plant, they can reopen mines. In fact, the mines are likely easier.
It depends. If the mines have lots of water infiltration, they are only functional if the pumps keep running. Once the pumps shut off (mine closure), then the entire tunnel system floods and it becomes near impossible to evacuate the flooded tunnels AND keep up with the inflow of new water inflows. This is a huge issue in mining operations. If they shut down and stop pumping, mostly they cannot be reopened in any meaningful timeframe at any reasonable cost.
Hard coal mining has been irreversibly stopped in Germany. But there are still operational ignite coal exploitations.
I wonder if the Pennsylvania anthracite mines are still operable. Might be an option for Germany.
Looks like a lot of their lignite is surface strip-mining
Ah – ran across a statement that lignite can only be extracted in ‘open-cast excavations’ — too soft for underground mining, I reckon
Germany’s three lignite mining regions
I reckon we might want that coal sometime
… in answer to
“I wonder if the Pennsylvania anthracite mines are still operable. Might be an option for Germany.”
Try this website for information about that:
https://www.paanthracite.com
This is only true for hard coal. Germany has still ignite coal plants and also ignite coal itself, which is still exploited. But your remark is still valid.
Ruhr Valley has large coal deposits sitting for extraction
Correct. However, my understanding is Germany ended all Ruhr coal mining about 2018.
If Germany intends to reopen Ruhr mining operations, doing so will take time. It will also lead to further expansion of less “green” energy extraction, which would not have been necessary but for the sanctions.
Some of the worlds greatest chess masters have come from Russia.
Putin is playing 4D chess with NATO, the EU and our shadow government being run by Obama.
Don’t much care for the man, but at least he’s taking care of his own and his nation.
Keep praying folks. Keep praying..
Yours is a point worth stressing. Russian strategic doctrine is chess reliant. The long convoy that sat outside Kiev was a master stroke, a bishop pinning down Ukrainian assets while the Russian knights readied assaults on Mariupol and the Donbas. In late October of 1943, a similar feint set the stage for the Soviet reconquest of Ukraine.
I think you give too much credit to Putin and not enough to the plain stupidity and short sightedness of Western leaders. You don’t need to be a genius to get the jump on those F’ing idiots. They did it to themselves. Oh, and American globalist corporate leaders who now have their entire production capacity tied up in China. They’re a bunch of F’ing idiots too.
I agree trapper.
I did not take much for our own Ronald Reagan to outsmart the fat, tired, stogy, vodka soaked leaders of the Soviet Union.
More credit needs to be given to the idiots running the countries of the West than to the leaders running Russia.
1D Chess suffices. I mean, look at the Old Fool claiming to be the President Of The United States… yikes.
Checkers, maybe
My thoughts exactly, checkers maybe.
Checkers was Nixon’s favorite………
I get it, but…. Where is the Ruble? Who’s starting up coal fired power plants? Who’s running around trying to convince us (once again) it’s all Russia’s fault?
Putin has been forth right and upfront about what he would and would not consider when it comes to the interests of Russia and the Russian people and what he would or would not do. And when you consider the psyop and propaganda being pushed by the EU , NATO and our “government” since the Obama shadow government was fraudulently installed through election fraud, you have stop and consider if Putin is the bad guy in all this and if he’s as stupid as the propaganda media mill would have you believe.
Putin announced to the world very early on that all of his plans were in place. Every single one. I guess no one believed him.
Whether he is or isn’t the devil incarnate as all the world, but especially our Fourth Branch, has been painting him is immaterial at this point.
He just might be the one person who will throw that stone at the WEF glass house. It needs doing. We are in existential times. If it is he who manages to destroy their genocidal plans for us all, then I am with him.
I see no one else volunteering for the job.

Excellent observations Betsy; I completely agree!
Thank you, GB. We’ve always known God chooses unlikely warriors. I’m not saying Putin is one, but he knows what he’s dealing with in the WEF. Every other “leader” of note has clearly signed on to the grotesque and life destroying agenda. I pray I am not wrong.
“We’ve always known God chooses unlikely warriors.”
Yes!! There are myriad examples is the O.T. how God uses both good and not-so-good people to deliver His Divine Discipline upon those who have angered Him with their wickedness.
In this case it’s not so much “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, but rather that we have faith in the Lord to deliver His judgement upon evil people at the time of His choosing and in the manner of His choosing. If Vladimir Putin is His agent for this task, then so be it!
It’s not so much that Russia is playing 4D chess as that the supposed adults leading the West only know how to play tiddlywinks. We are being ruled by children.
Today’s class of politician is playing Uno, not chess.

My Gawd!
Think, just think of how much better off the world would be if not for the endless onslaught of silly and fashionable ideas from leftists.
I’m 65, and I have either contempt for the point men of this garbage, or pity for the young people so taken in.
Greta Thunberg is reportedly the tool for a communist father. May he rot in hell.
In the ’70s, a butterfly scientist named Paul Ehrlich wrote a bestselling book called the Population Bomb. He recycled the Malthusian canard that mass famine was in our future. He was, of course, wrong about everything.
Ehrlich re-appeared predicting disaster because of global warming. These monsters approach the evil of Nazism.
In fact, in reality, the human race could be enjoying, right now, boundless prosperity and wealth and good health because of nuclear energy and petroleum. But the Marxist project of social upheaval would not be advanced by this. The imperative of a return to feudalism, of no more social upward mobility.
Rot in hell, boys, rot in hell.
Now I’m not so sure that Ehrlich didn’t write that book as a big fearmongering justification to advance and make abortion more attractive for the western populations. I remember back then, people of my age being very affected by that book and vowing to not have children like their parents did.
So there it is. Climate Change charlatans are being forced into an ignominious admission that Green Energy is useless, destructive and suicidal. Snake oil of very poor quality.
Perhaps they had a little look see at Sri Lanka where because of enacted Green policies, the country is now on the brink of starvation, there is limited fuel, the people there are rioting, burning down politicians’ homes…and today the military has starting firing upon the population. Ugly and horrible.
There’s not much time before the seasons change in Germany and in the rest of Europe. I’m sure restarting coal plants will involve more than a flip of a switch.
So these smart “elites” better get cracking. Or what is happening in Sri Lanka might soon make an appearance in the land of Schwab and co. Hubris has an horrific human cost, as they are about to find out.
As for the restart, a whole lot depends on whether the did a shutdown in anticipation of restart, decommissioned or liquidated. The first would have been smart but leaves everything in place and preserved. The second is a shutdown and walk away. The third involves selling of movable assets such as high voltage switch gear, transformers and generators, things almost impossible to replace on short notice. I have worked with German engineers. I can not imagine them doing anything except the first, but governments should never be underestimated for doing stupid things.
Your first … sounds like a soft shutdown as recently as May 1 … my comment with more content is in moderation and not showing yet, look for a photo of a coal-harvesting crane when it posts
Owned by energy company RWE, the shutdown is reportedly in line with the German government’s coal phase-out programme.
However, the German multinational has said that the plant will be conserved for a little while longer, which will allow it to be brought back online should it be needed.
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2022/04/01/germany-continues-shutdown-of-power-plants-despite-growing-energy-crisis/
… well, that’s for this one plant, that is
no telling for all the rest of the coal plants all over the country
This is good information, VM.
I have been following Germany’s planned suicide, committed by the almost maniacal ambitions of Merkel ever since she came to power and opened the floodgates for populations completely antithetical to European culture and history.
When she shut down Germany’s nuclear facilities almost immediately after Fukishima, I knew she was an ideologue with no concern for her country.
And while you as a sane and forward thinking person would have done the first thing you mentioned, I have come to the terrible conclusion that the EU project was a dreadful error…and that Germany stopped thinking in a nationalistic way, substituting a European mindset in its place. Which as we can see now the most destructive thing they could have done. Since then their Green madness has led them to the place they find themselves now.
They have tried to maintain the European Project at all costs. In the end every country in it will, I firmly believe, regret their worship of it, Germans being the first with others following.
My hero Mark Steyn has written a great deal about how many of these European leaders (like Macron, like Merkel) are childless. Does a person without children truly have an investment in the future, or can they pose as champions of globalism, whatever that means in the long run?
Perhaps only those with children should get to vote? Silly old people often advocate for no education taxes on the elderly!
Nothing silly about that, unless you believe in state education for the masses. Look around and see if you like that.
Ah yes..I’d forgotten he was your hero. Mine as well…for razor sharp observational and analytical skills, plain speaking, bravery in speaking…even and especially in the face of persecution for doing so by people who have made his life a misery. I could go on.
Yes.. .childless. No skin in the game, so to speak. I wouldn’t have noticed had Mark not pointed it out. Thank you for reminding me.

The do-gooders of the western world always victimize the poor countries (once called the third world).

The poor souls needed mules.

He’s one of mine as well. I often leave his quotes on the Open Thread. The MSNBC crowd only expose themselves as ill read, ignorant, and godless. Out of their own mouths do they condemn themselves.
The funny thing is, Germany has few sunny days in winter. The Berlin Airlift would have been a failure because of it if radar hadn’t been developed just before WW II. Germany knows quite well those facts, but that’s what happens when you let the Marxists rewrite the history books and the people who lived thru it die off. 4th Turning-is Putin the grey champion?
people who ignore the lesson of history are doomed to repeat it
And we are doomed to stand there and watch them repeat it.

And just like that, coal is fashionable again.
Too bad America doesn’t have coal mines. We could have provided the needed tonnage.
Oh wait….never mind.
E=MC2
Let AOC explain it..
She’d need a raise to think that hard.
Yeah that C^2 makes the energy storage, transmission problematic. Remember the left’s mantra “Math is Hard”, noone or very few are taking the math and science courses needed.
Ninja:
My point is that nothing is more commonplace than energy. Everything is energy, and the energy available approaches infinity. Leftists are oblivious.
Having sold that energy is scarce, the greatest of lies, they feel free to sell that men can have babies, or literally anything else.
everything is not energy…. energy is merely one state of matter…..everything is represented on the electro-magnetic scale however and is defined by its frequency and amplitude
Einstein’s Special Theory on Relativity has zero to do with energy storage or use…it is an equation to show the physics in the conversion of matter to energy and energy to matter….storage is a completely different topic……in using “fossil fuels” for an energy supply there is very little direct conversion since it isn’t molecular or atomic but rather a chemical reaction….the E = mc^2 equation shows the huge amounts of energy released when an unstable isotope like U235 is used in a nuclear weapon……this releases the energy in the nuclear bonds rather than the molecular bond energy of a chemical reaction
Yes Rami too bad America does not have coal mines, abundant natural gas and petroleum lying underground just waiting to be mined and drilled for…….oh wait.
Too bad that we have much much more than we need and could sell some to the rest of the world.
Now that would be a real shame.
last estimate the US possesses enough of its own coal to last 200+ years at current use rates
It’s a shame that all the miners have learned to code.
At least Germany is planning for how they’re going to heat their houses this next winter.
Biden doesn’t even care.
He did send a strongly worded letter to the oil companies requesting they do things his administration refuses to allow them to do.
Next step: Government “steps in”.
Hold on to yer freaking hats, folks. And if you don’t have a hat, then go find one and hold on to it.
Biden is gone…or his cognitive skills are.
Tonight on Gateway Pundit there is a story with pictures where, at a meeting, he again turned his crib sheet so that his instructions are visible for the cameras.
These instructions have been written for a mental defective who needs to be in a secure facility.
We are in dangerous territory here. There is a secret cabal running this country, unelected and on a mission to destroy us.
This cannot go on, as we edge closer to the same situation that the Germans and other European populations are facing. The center will not hold, and I’m positive there isn’t anyone in DC, R or D, who doesn’t know exactly what the situation is.
Hang on tight, my friends….and pray. This will get much worse, and the lunatics are in charge of the asylum.
they will not say the quiet part out loud:
this is LIGNITE Coal…the most polluting for of coal. But it’s cheap and it is very easy and quick from startup to actual energy (no surprises there!)
and they will not talk about nuclear.
we are watching the world being led to a disaster.
because politicians are hopelessly terrible in business strategy…or any strategy for that matter.
Lignite (brown coal) has a huge water content that makes it very inefficient as a fuel. There are ways to use waste heat to dry it out prior to combustion, but if those methods aren’t in place, they are expensive to do as an afterthought.
All coal is not equal. It takes special handling to use lignite efficiently.
yes … I was just reminiscing fondly last night about about stoking our coal furnace with hard, black Pennsylvania anthracite as a child in the 50s
burns hot, burns clean, leaves a nice white ash … beautiful stuff
And coal ash is good for your garden soil.
We are still burning anthracite in our 1910 baseburner.
Nothing drags us down like the false correlation between nuclear weapons and nuclear power.
The assumption was made, early in the era of nuclear fission, that long-term exposure to small amounts of nuclear radiation is the same as exposure to large amounts in a short term. Wrong.
Chernobyl has become a de facto wild animal preserve. Naturalists are releasing rare European animals, like wild horses and bison, like moose and wolves, into the Chernobyl area, and they thrive. Even hawks live within a few miles of the actual power plant. Long-term exposure to low levels of radiation is not dangerous.
But anti-nuclear zealots, like Helen Caldicott, will not accept this.
Leftists have been hostile to Alberta oil sands oil reaching the Texas refineries, because it would replace Venezuelan heavy oil.
All bad ideas track back to leftism. All.
Mark Steyn often opines that the last few centuries will be seen, in world history, as the Anglo-American era.
And the last few centuries will be seen as the leftist-Marxist era. These dopes, these suckers are wrong about everything, but their energy and self-assurance never wanes.
….and yet through processing the oil out of the sand they clean the soil so it does NOT leech into rivers/streams and groundwater
I say this frequently about many things…
Lofty arguments of morality will be thrown right out a window when you’re cold, hungry or in pain.
It will not just be Germany smiting themselves.
It is possible that the German citizens are getting ready to smite their politicians real hard.
They have no means.
PDJT is laughing tonight!
👍 <– It’s the best I can do.
This falls along the same lines as the Covid Vax. You sit back and analyze then come to a fork in the road. Your mind gets scrambled wondering if this all planned and evil because surely these people involved could never be this foolish or ideological. Then you see evidence to support they actually just might be so hamstrung by their emotions stupidity may be plausible.
I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed planned and evil at the very tip top. After that point on it’s the latter; filled with the brainwashed yes men jumping through hoops for a treat. You could plead ignorance with the Covid vax until Omicron. But these people in the CDC know the true numbers of hospitalization and deaths now. Yet they still push onward pushing to get kids under 5 injected. But maybe it’s like Monkey Pox in that it’s all a ruse to siphon off as much money as they can to transfer to hard assets.
This explains the sanctions enacted by the West. Rather Covid vax’s or shutting off our energy, food, and fuel sources; we the people are going to reap the fruit of their labors soon enough.
“When you come a fork in the road, take it!” (HT: Yogi B.) Also: The government advice to the people on the vaccine.
We The People need to make sure the politicians are the ones that reap the fruit of their labors.

April of this year:
Germany Continues Shutdown of Power Plants Despite Growing Energy Crisis
1 Apr 2022
Despite facing a spiralling energy crisis, Germany has continued its Green crusade of shutting down hydrocarbon-fueled power plants.
Germany’s green crusade against fossil fuels has continued to march on during what has been described by other nations as a “chaotic geopolitical context” for energy, with the country taking another hydrocarbon-fueled power station out of service on Friday.
This is despite the fact that the country is facing down one of the worst energy crises in its recent history, at risk of having the majority of its gas supply cut off completely over tensions with Russia.
According to a report by Der Spiegel, a lignite powered station in Neurath which can generate up to 300 megawatts of power will go offline on Friday.
Owned by energy company RWE, the shutdown is reportedly in line with the German government’s coal phase-out programme.
However, the German multinational has said that the plant will be conserved for a little while longer, which will allow it to be brought back online should it be needed.
Wondering where the Germans are going to get their coal? Weren’t shutting down coal mines also part of the green new deal agenda? Part of those Paris Accords?
See Sundance’s Tweet a few comments above.
“Currently Germany has no port system to offload LNG”
One can just imagine the non-planning not going on for Green New Hell On Earth.
Poor Greta will be apoplectic!
Greta is going to grow up and be just like Hillary, Pocahantas and Pelosi all in one.
She is a uniquely nasty young person.
Pol Pot targeted young men (teenagers) for his death squads.
The Left now pretends Pol Pot and the killing fields never happened.
I’ve recognized over time that leftists only talk about what serves their ends.
Mussolini, the long-time socialist official, is ignored, but Hitler the blank slate, is put to use.
Mao used teenagers in his “Cultural Revolution” to terrorize an entire nation
It’s such breath of fresh air from the past to see our President speaking such big and weighty insights to global leaders without notes, skipped syllables, or losing track of where he is in the teleprompter feed.
I would caution against hope for a similar epiphany of pragmatism in the US. Our green Nazis are prepared to use all the resources of federal law enforcement to force-feed enviro-misanthropy, and if not sufficient, even the US military to enforce their watermelon tyranny.
Germany needs those coal power plants to provide electricity for all of their Electric Vehicles.
Any EV is powered by either coal, natural gas, or nuclear energy.
“Fossil fuels” is a misnomer. The Earth naturally farts natural gas. The supply of natural gas and oil on planet Earth is infinite.
There’s enough oil in West Texas alone to power the United States for 400 years.
The Earth’s temperate hasn’t risen in 15 years. That blows the “greenhouse gas effect” to hell and back.
https: // www. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2425775/Climate-scientists-told-cover-fact-Earths-temperature-risen-15-years. html
MORE….no registered temperature increase by satellite data since 1998 and solar experts say we entered a “solar minimum” a decade ago meaning lower temperatures in the future NOT higher….cold temperature kills far more people than high temperature
The German “green energy” program has been failing for years. The sanctions merely exacerbate the problem and provide a convenient excuse to do what would have to be done anyway, war or no war.
Everybody watch the grid stability, kW cost, blackouts, brownouts, economic losses, and excess deaths from cold, in AU (now as it is their winter) and in UK and GE in about 5 months and for the following 3 months.
“Green” energy is going to display every failure imaginable. Industries will fail, people will suffer, economies will tank.
Intermittent power is only useful if your usage can absorb the absence of power with zero notice and at a very high price to back it up. Everyone will see this folly unfold in the next 8 months in EU, the next 4 months in AU/NZ.
Physics does not care about Politics. Physics will win, every time.
It is going to be a very tough time for all, but this is a self inflicted political wound. It didn’t have to happen.
But the barbarian and dummy President Trump didn’t know what he was talking about!
So glad the “elites” are running the show!
And the funniest thing is that the German government is complaining that the Russians are using economic sanctions against them.
You can’t make this crap up.
Appears that the student has surpassed the “master /teacher”.
Guess that karma is a real … (you know the thing)
The build back badder (worse), defines the green energy hoax, perfectly.
At least coal is meat-free.
German Libtards finally meet rationale, judgment commonsense.
Greta is devastated. LOL.
Sorry, Germany; we’d send you LNG but somebody blew up all our refineries.
Remember all of the doom and gloom about “Peak Oil” about 20 years ago?
What a crock of crap that was…

Peak oil was a hot topic when Carter was President.
Leftists lie about everything, and leftists are wrong about everything.
Start there.
On a related personal note… I think I mentioned previously, for what it was worth… my Lefty Mother is now burning wood like it grows on trees, ‘cuz oil is too expensive. I was happy to help stack a couple cords a few weeks back… but I was careful to avoid any extra “commentary”. She knows.
Libtards all know.
hilarious
holding your tongue was both kind … and strategic
As always, “pick your battles”.
Enough of this green raw deal. How about our coal power plants, are there any left that can brought back on line? How about all the Congress representatives and Senators from coal states demanding the coal plants be put back in service. I’m sure coal miners could use the work right now to pay the inflated cost of living.
Finish the pipelines, expand and build new refineries. How about more oil and gas leases in areas where we have HUGE deposits.
This manmade disaster created by Biden and his gang needs to end. They have caused way to much pain and suffering. People are dying because of their policies and they don’t even care.
Ha,ha,ha, thanks Germany for realizing the bloody obvious we all knew 2 years ago!! And these genius’s are running the country? Wow, scary
“The president of the Federal Network Agency is in favour of lowering the minimum temperature to which landlords must heat homes in winter, a proposal made by the national housing association after Russian energy giant Gazprom decided to reduce gas flows to Germany.”
German agency considers saving gas by cooling homes – EURACTIV.com
At least the Germans are willing to eat crow and help their people. Brandon would let millions freeze to death rather than jeapardize an inch of the Green New Deal.
What ever happened to Howie? I miss his take on things.
Me too!
Nukes might be nice, ja?

The coal war: the battle to close Germany’s lignite mines
From blockages to weekly protests, environmental campaigners in Germany are angry at the continued extraction of coal. Euronews’ Hans von der Brelie heads to one of the world’s largest opencast pits, Garzweiler II, to witness for himself the battle to close the country’s lignite mines.
I arrive at sunrise, overwhelmed by the beauty of the industrial landscape, which stretches as far as the eye can see. An abstract pattern of earth and lignite layers bathed in the early morning light.
But it’s a deadly beauty: if all those hundreds of millions of tonnes of coal actually do get excavated and burnt, Germany can say goodbye to its climate targets. In recent years the country has started waking up to what climate catastrophe might actually look like: blisteringly hot summers and apocalyptic rainfall that has the ability to sweep both towns and lives away.
Apparently the German gov’t doesn’t hate its own people quite as much as the American gov’t hates its people. +1 for Germany.
😆 🤣 😂
No one says it better than Chevy, I think??
“You know those Germans, they make good stuff.” Including “climate change” hypocrisy.
Honolulu to shut down its last coal-fired generating plant in a month
Coal cost of $7 / kwh will be replaced by oil-fired at $30 / kwh
Take a look at your bill, there, Mr Customer
So glad I’m not there anymore.
I shiver to think of it.
Subsidized by a tax on tourists, who won’t be coming?
How dare they!
Coal excavation in Germany – the video is pretty fascinating
Destruction?
They’re saving the dang planet!
Carbon is life, humanity is making only the tiniest dent in reversing eons of natural carbon sequestration that was very close to ending all life.
Math & Sciences weren’t in the strong suites of their education…Fossil Fuels (ANY) have been here for since the planet came into being…it is HOW the inhabitants of this planet use the resources given too them…
When a harpie asks me why I drive a fuel based car to cut down on emissions I ask them to STOP BREATHING…they just don’t get it!!!!
IT is impossible to get to ZERO EMISSIONS…
Unless it’s an oratory emission coming from the mouth of a climate alarmist fool. There’s your zero emission if there ever was one.
Interesting. These open pit mines can be restored to open green space and of course man made lakes. If seen them restored in Germany and here in the States.
Old quarries routinely become swimming holes. Is this a revelation?
Generally not coal quarries. The water would be pretty bad. Usually abandoned stone quarries become filled with water and are sometimes used as swimming depending on depth and bottom terrain and potential danger from submerged equipment.
One of the prettiest lakes in Southern Indiana is a coal pit that was mined out years ago – very, very deep and clean.
I grew up in IL and the old strip pits near Coal City are now private hunting and fishing clubs. Decades long waiting list to join. We swam in them all the time. Paradise.

When I was a kid, several of us swam in old stone/sand quarries. The water was very clear, and one could see (and avoid) old cables and stuff. Rode our “family bike” quite a few miles to get there, and of course, was hot and sweaty all over again by the time I got home. Great swimming places!
No it’s not a revelation. Just pointing out a fact to counter what media types say when they see an open mine.
Where I live here in Canada the landfill sites are turned into wetlands and they are more beautiful than the scrubby land that was there before. We had a path to a good solution but it wasn’t the ideology they wanted so they are forcing their destructive dopey ideas on us.
Also, does anyone have an idea of why the NATO sanctions would take precedent over their climate change policies? I have an idea but wonder what others think.
Our planet’s pollution is actually their poisonous ideas. If their toxic lies and delusions could be remediated, human (and other) life would flourish.
Because when a policy interferes with governments real objectives, it gets overridden.
Government-sponsored green policies are only seen as a means to creating a NWO. But Russia has been cast as the big enemy so maintaining the political theater is temporarily more important.
Not to mention government knows the people will more easily see through the BS if they’re starving and cold.
Climate Change, updated from Global Warming, is a Marketing Term, used to sell the peasants on fear, so the self-appointed Elite can steal the productive wealth from those that actually work.
Have you seen the lithium
mines necessary for the green economy batteries?
You gonna love it!
FJB!!! 😘
Hey Nimrodman,
Ole Joanie Lemercier’s Twitter is loaded with climate activist videos.
God has blessed them with readily available fuel to keep them warm during the Winter; they should be grateful!
What else were they going to do with a pit of coal??
These people should be grateful that the coal is in a “pit” and not in a more dangerous “mine”, such is the case in WV, PA, and elsewhere.
Also, when they give up their old, diesel ‘cedes, let me know.
