While Turkey is a NATO ally, Recep Erdogan strategically refused to participate in the process to ostracize Russia. True to Erdogan’s strategic political interests of being an influence broker, Turkey is the only NATO country that does not participate in the sanctions regime against Russia. Next month Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Turkey for diplomatic discussions.
Turkey represents the literal gateway for most Western travel into and out of Russia. However, first things first. Despite the position of Turkey, notice how Hungary receives all the EU admonitions for not supporting the Ukraine side of the conflict, while NATO/EU never criticize Turkey who never even joined the EU/Western sanctions regime. Inside that hypocritical contrast there is a revealing story.
Turkey established themselves as the neutral entity for future brokering negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Turkey has multiple geopolitical ties to Russia, including the purchase of Russian military equipment. Apparently, despite the severity of the original sanction demand, Western interests -specifically the U.S. government- had no issue with Turkey proactively taking their ‘neutral’ position. Always remember this.
Given all of the domestic headlines in the USA, there is a very good reason for Americans to keep paying attention to all things that happen in the orbit of Russia right now. Many people ponder the issue of a dollar-based central bank digital currency; however, only a few people have paid attention to the self-fulfilling prophecy of the CBDC that was created by the Russian sanctions regime.
Those who ask about the possibility/probability of a dollar-based CBDC, and the possibility of the timeframe therein, should always be referenced back to the Western financial sanctions against Russia. It was that triggering point that put the USA and Western alliance on the irreversible path to the U.S CBDC, and the process is no longer a matter of “if” because the determining issue is no longer (primarily) in U.S. control.
The de-dollarization of half the trade globe, the general cleaving of finance that followed the Russian sanctions (see the efforts of BRICS+), has essentially created a system where major economic nations are trading between themselves in non-dollar-based exchanges. India trades with Russia in Rupes to Rubles. China trades with Russia on old fashioned ledgers of value (due to proximity somewhat of a quasi-bartering system); Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, South Africa and a host of non-Western nations are all in various stages of direct trade in national currency outside the dollar zone.
At the core of the issue behind the question of a U.S. or dollar-based Central Bank Digital Currency, you will find this global financial cleaving. Intra-Western trade (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the EU) is still done in dollars, and trade done into the Western system is still done in dollars. Ex. if China wants to trade into the USA, they must complete transactions in dollars. However, trade from grey zone to grey zone nation is no longer contingent upon dollars.
Very few people are talking about these new financial trade alternatives. Yet ultimately, this cleaving is likely what will result in a dollar-based U.S CBDC. Remember, the need for alternative trade currencies was triggered in time by the immediacy of the sanctions against Russia. I do not believe the Western financial alliance thought the Russian allies could assemble the alternative so quickly.
If the DoS and CIA truly believed the sanctions would cripple Russia, it’s then likely our institutions vastly underestimated the prior diplomatic talks that preceded those sanctions. As a big picture consequence, no geopolitical issue is as connected to your kitchen table as anything that connects with Russia. So, pay close attention to how Russia is engaged by the rest of the non-Western world (grey zone), and you will get a good idea about the speed and timing of a pending U.S. CBDC.
As soon as the grey zone trade is predicted to take place in non-dollar terms, the U.S CBDC will be fast-tracked. The only way for President Donald Trump to stop the CBDC process would be to immediately end the Russia-Ukraine conflict and subsequently remove the sanctions. [And that might not even work.] As long as there are financial trade blocks based on dollars and who we like, there will be an easy justification for the financial cleaving to continue.

Turkey has positioned itself as a mediator between the two nations, hosting two rounds of peace talks in Antalya and Istanbul in 2022. Turkey was also key to the Black Sea Grain Initiative that temporarily facilitated the export of agricultural products from southern Ukrainian ports amid Russia’s naval blockade.
Following a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the beginning of this month, Erdoğan said Ankara remains ready to help “establish lasting peace, stability and prosperity in our region.”
“We have previously acted as a host country for direct talks between the parties to the conflict,” the president said. “We are, as before, ready to do our best in this matter and act as a mediator….Ukraine in order to take joint steps with Russia certainly needs to soften its position.”
Putin last visited a NATO nation in 2020 when he traveled to Germany to meet with then-Chancellor Angela Merkel. His Western travel options have been limited by his war on Ukraine and the arrest warrant issued for him in 2023 by the International Criminal Court over alleged related crimes. (read more)
I really do not like Turkish President Recep Erdogan. His political policy is full of dangerous self-interest (Muslim Brotherhood) and thirst for power (recreation of the Ottoman empire). However, on the issue of ending this Russia-Ukraine conflict, I will admit Erdogan has positioned himself very well.

Some interesting parallels to the book of Judges have occurred as well, including women involved in the current fight. FWIW, Psalm 83 appears to refer to two separate groups in antithesis; the flags of one group seem to have colors in common: white, red, black and chloros (green).

The Federal Reserve is NOT the governing authority in this country. They answer to the Congress and can be dissolved by Congress (with the President’s signature) because Congress created it in 1913 by passing the Federal Reserve Act.
The Fed is also under audit by the GAO for regulatory compliance.
That clause binds the States, not the federal government and definitely not the notionally ‘private corporation’ known as The Federal Reserve. Gold and silver were taken out of circulation first by Wilson, then by FDR and then once and for all by Nixon.

I think if a person relies on the US (or perhaps even state) government for income, that income will be predicated on payment in CBDC’s with the necessity of a digital ID to receive the payment. Big employers will find it a financial benefit. Those who have debt to banks through credit cards or bank loans and those with mortgages will find it necessary to cave to the CBDC.
Those whose income doesn’t derive from government or big corporations, who have no debt may be able to be free of the controls, but I wouldn’t have any prediction on how free they would remain.

I hope Sundance does not see CBDC as inevitable. Yes, failure of the US$ as we have known it was made final with the Russian sanctions. Yes, the elite want to, are planning to implement the CBDC. But, the CBDC implementations in much smaller countries with much less complex payment structures have been mostly failures. Argentina was not the only experiment but memory does not serve me on the others. There are many other options the nation may take to replace the US$. History is replete with examples, usually the only success is a return to gold and/or silver. In fact, I have read the only reason we do not have CBDCs already is because they are having problems with the implementation. Certainly, the ideal time from their perspective was before Silicon Valley Bank failed and caught the treasurer Yellen unprepared to bailout the regionals without prejudice.
Anyone on welfare, SS, government payroll will be forced into CBDCs including most contractors for payment from the government. That is a significant amount of people. However, like Argentina, there will be conversions to metal coinage, alternate scripts (state?) and other things of value. The black market will still exist, barter will still exist. This is a big country and they would have to lock down an awful lot of people that are currently unbanked and outside the current system not to mention the CBDC system.
They also need everyone to have a smart phone or PC and know how to use it for this to work. Right now I mostly do digital transfers, but there are a few people I pay in cash like waitresses and beggars and my RE taxes. How do you tie the homeless into this system, they have no phone (for long), no place to charge them, no bank accounts? My Capital One card app failed this week to accept a payment from my credit union. I had to revert to the PC for the transfer, which worked and I prefer. Obviously, there are glitches in the system that they aren’t talking about.

What effect would Trump drilling and selling our energy exports cheaper than the rest of the world have on the situation? I freely admit that I’m not an expert on the matter. However, if most countries are coming to the US for their energy needs, we can dictate that the trade is done in dollars. That, in turn, would slow down/stop the global de-dollarization.
I guess the part that I can’t wrap my head around is… why does there need to be de-dollarization in order to implement CBDC? Can’t they implement it regardless?
The de-dollarization is occurring because the US$ is no longer fiscally sound(>33Trillion in debt). The process was kicked into high gear and made irreversible when the US sanctioned Russia and stole it’s central bank reserves. Nothing is going to stop this process now, not even Trump.
The reason CBDC was developed was because the failure of Bretton Woods/the US$ was known in advance. All fiat currencies have failed in history. It was designed to be a substitute and a control mechanism, emphasis on the latter.
Implementation of CBDC does not require de-dollarization, de-dollarization is well along already. Rickards said it was a 10 year process.
I think the CBCD’s will be the new currency when the Dollar/Treasuries are not bought by the other countries for trade, oil, etc. We are hegemon due to our enforcement of all trade payments world wide in dollars – we back it up with the military and coups. The Fed is not autonomous and independent from oversight. It is ultimately under CONGRESS because that who created the Fed (Federal Reserve Act 1913). Congress can eliminate the Fed by passing a bill to do just that. It would need the Presidents signature unless they can get 67% or more in both chambers to vote in favor. Obviously a LOT of monetary policy issues would need to be addressed in that bill so for now it’s a slim to zero chance that Congress will do that in the foreseeable future
There is no recourse to prevent Federal Reserve notes from being declared worthless.
However, barter is still practiced today and physical things can be exchanged to meet our needs.
Also, all coins ever minted are still legal tender. If they declare those illegal, then, we will all be criminals.
Those with no pennies will be few.
Coinage bears the mark of a nation besides its value in gold. So, the government can declare it’s own coinage as not legal tender, but, it can not deny coinage of other countries. Plus, the gold and silver content itself has international value.
Therefore, to force CBDC for all transactions, the reserve notes and legal tender coins would have to be declared valueless or illegal to transact with. Similarly, barter would need to be outlawed. Finally, exchange of coins minted elsewhere would have to be declared illegal. Then, there’s services that people currently exchange for goods other than money already. That would have to be outlawed too.
Catherine Austin Fitts says we need to be building an alternate economy, so, we are not dependent on CBDCs for survival. She has a point. But they can outlaw that too. One still has more options if one has less need of Fed Bucks of any kind.

i think many folks are trying to prepare to move to a barter system for food and other necessities by building a stock of gold/silver, ammo, liquor, medicines and the like when the currency crashes. 34 trillion debt has consequences.
With the Too Big To Fail Banks, It is already very easy to freeze an account. Canada did it quickly to the truckers. The CBDC makes it so much easier for the government to control all the money and be able to account for the location of it all. It will not solve the problem of inflation. Printing digital currency will still result in runaway inflation. The big banks along with big government need to be broken into smaller sizes to allow for more competititon. Ma Ball broken into the Baby Bells resulted in a revolution in technology. The same can happen to Big Banks, Big Pharma, Big Government. The root of all of this is Spending more than the government takes in. Printing paper or adding digital bits lead to worthless paper or digits that is the Root Cause. Drain the Swamp of its overspending.

If the US introduces a digital dollar, will all of these people continue to accept and use US dollars knowing they can be confiscated at any moment?
The US government might have to set up two US dollars systems in parallel, continue the current printed non-digital dollars and introduce new digital dollars.
Does the US stop printing paper dollars and only print new digital dollars going forward?
A lot depends upon the US’s political/financial goals.
If the US cancels paper dollars then the usage of US dollars will collapse over night, as they become worthless.
Creating digital US dollars will extend US control over the Euro-Dollar market and Europe.
It would likely extend the same control over Canada, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.
Not sure if this level of control would automatically extend to South America or not. Likely it will.
This senerio would mean the US retreating into fortress America conceding control of the rest of the world.

Erdogan is important because of Turkey’s location. If Turkey was situated where Hungary is, they would be getting the same attacks as Hungary gets now. But here’s what I don’t get. What is the difference between forcing the entire world to deal in US dollars and having military bases and interventions all over the world? While I understand that a global dollar based system is better for Americans, is this not a part of the ‘imperialist’ American policy around the world? What is the difference between other countries having to deal in US dollars vs other countries having to deal in rubles when they purchase from Russia? Why should our currency be forced on other countries, other than the policy of US ‘hegemony’?? By the way, with regard to CBDC, Russia has also instituted a pilot program for CBDC.
I have not spent much time researching exactly how the CBDC would work. It would seem the digital currency would be a block chain and when you use your digital currency it would need your identifying number to be traded. That number might be a Social Security Number. So all the government would have to do is for any transaction that SS# would have to be approved. Let me repeat for any transaction. So all the government has to do is put your number on a NO ACCEPT LIST. You are frozen.
