Stellantis is a multinational automaker contracted for the electric version of the Jeep Cherokee. Citing high costs to produce electric vehicles, on Friday Stellantis announced a decision to idle the Belvedere, Illinois plant starting on Feb. 28, 2023, and notified 1,350 workers of the layoffs.
(Via Fox) […] “This difficult but necessary action will result in indefinite layoffs, which are expected to exceed six months and may constitute a job loss under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. As a result, WARN notices have been issued to both hourly and salaried employees,” it said. “The company will make every effort to place indefinitely laid off employees in open full-time positions as they become available.”
Today The Daily Mail is reporting that production of the electric Jeep will take place in Mexico.
Hundreds of workers are expected to be laid off when automaker Stellantis closes an assembly plant in northern Illinois early next year, citing the challenge of rising costs of electric vehicle production.
The company, which employs about 1,350 workers at the plant in Belvidere, Illinois, said the action will result in indefinite layoffs and it may not resume operations as it considers other options.
Stellantis said the industry ‘has been adversely affected by a multitude of factors like the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the global microchip shortage, but the most impactful challenge is the increasing cost related to the electrification of the automotive market.’
The Belvidere plant, produces the Jeep Cherokee SUV, will be idle starting on February 28, 2023, Stellantis said. The plant in Toluca, Mexico will now produce the vehicles. (read more)
One aspect of this move that deserves additional attention is the U.S. and Canada focus on new energy policy, against the backdrop of Mexico telling the Biden administration the USMCA partner was going to continue development of traditional oil, coal and natural gas energy production.
Should Mexico continue to maintain a more traditional energy policy, they will likely create a greater cost incentive for all manufacturers. With electricity rates skyrocketing in the U.S. and Canada, any energy dependent manufacturer would see an additional advantage to production in Mexico.
It will be worthwhile watching this dynamic closely and seeing what type of pressure the Biden administration will apply to Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez-Obrador to fall in line.
I do have an electric golf cart.
I’m thinking that it will be the only electric vehicle that I ever invest in.
I have a 24 volt trolling motor on my boat but I have a dam gas powered Chevy truck with a battery.
Called. Hybrid
Traded mine in on a gasoline engine. Battery replacement is way too expensive.
Some day I’m going to be able to justify the cost of a golf cart. Right now running over to the library (maybe half a mile) or Circle K for a soda and/or apple fritter aren’t enough.
Inexpensive and abundant energy was a key competitive advantage of the United States. They, “the bad guys” are deliberately undermining the US, taking down this country seems paramount.
For the last 15 years, lithium batteries have dropped in price. This year, the price has increased.
Supply chain problems and a lithium shortage means the EV worm is turning.
Isn’t that some of the “mineral stuff” that clintons sold from the U.S.? Not sure I’m remembering right, but do know they sold a bunch of mineral type ‘stuff’.
I have a battery powered window blind that uses AA lithium batteries. Bought a 24 pack in July 2021 for ~$32. The same package now sells for ~$66.
The Davos Crew has done virtually everything the Leadership of an invading Enemy would do in open warfare — Psychological Operations to soften up + demoralize the masses — attack Energy Production – attack Food Production — Discredit their Government + Institutions — weaken their Military — and so on…. They are even Infiltrating military age men + women by the millions…
They destroyed the opposition long ago, with the exception of the NRA.
How true. Immigrants I know who have lived here for at least 30 years and have raised children and grandchildren, still refer to their country of origin as “my country.”
Not this guy here. In fact I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked by other Americans who have had the blessing to be born here something of the type, “Do you go back home?” to which I answer, “My home is here in Texas”. Maybe the ones you know are migrants, not immigrants.
And boy oh boy, am I ever glad, my dear friend and my brother.
what kind of “citizens” do you expect when their very first act is an illegal one to enter the country and is often followed by identity theft to gain access to employment….such disrespect for the laws and system where they have moved to thrive by their very actions degrades it over time
He knew. He was excoriated for his prophetic pronouncements. He has been overwhelmingly vindicated.
Small comfort.
I know friend Bet he was attacked, and smeared by traitor criminals like Edward Heath a close friend and mentor to Klaus Schwab and war criminal Henry Kissinger, also accused of being a child molester, he certainly looks like one
Colkitto, Heath was an atrocity. My bet is that what was known about him, and often gossiped about, is securely locked away per the Official Secrets Act. He was rotten through and through in all aspects of his life; and per selling Britain out to the EU while lying to to every single Briton during the process, he was a traitor to (then) Queen and country.
Enoch Powell was an astonishingly brilliant man. What happened to him was amoral and unforgivable.
If someone truly wanted to destroy America, exactly what would they do differently than what the JoeBama admin has been doing?
Not. A. Thing. Differently.
I remember an outstanding video from a few elections ago titled
“If I wanted America to
fail”that demonstrated that exact point.
https://www.bkconnection.com/bkblog/jeevan-sivasubramaniam/if-i-wanted-america-to-fail
And we think we can stop it with a vote…..don’t think so anymore.
And still dividing friends and family.
Friends and family has been whittled down a bit.
Happy New year comrades.
The unions always tell the membership to vote Democrat.
Baah baaaah….
Those union auto/steel workers can learn to code!
Not in this nation it won’t be.
This obsession with destroying the Russian economy is going to backfire. These insane climate zealots are totally out of control and all they see is that Russia is the largest producer of fossil fuels and 50% of its GDP is all energy, which they openly talk about needs to be destroyed.
Reagan brought down the USSR with capitalism.
Dopey Joe is empowering Putin by rejecting it.
Doesn’t take many brain cells to get the best of Joe
Every time I read anything that is attributed to the Demented Fraud, I want to laugh out loud. That piece of human garbage doesn’t know what planet he’s on or that he’s crapped his adult diaper. He hasn’t made a decision on his own since selling his position in the US government to China. Of course it’s just as likely he didn’t decide anything in that regard either. China just needed to throw some crack and a few hookers at his doper kid who had people to handle the corrupt cash for the whole family.
The more the western countries move towards “clean” energy the cheaper and more plentiful the energy will be for everyone else using “legacy” energy sources.
Yeah….I used to drink that kool-aid, but I grew up.
Just wait till they all finish destroying the Western nation. See what happens when there is no place else to go for help, cause ‘we don’t got any any more’.
.
The $60 per barrel cap on Russian crude not working either, they offered a $6 discount under Brent crude, made the price $68 per barrel.
They contracted the vessels and guarantied safe transport, selling all they pump to the nations that didn’t sign on to the bogus price cap.
Our checker players just can’t get it that Russians play chess–and they’re good at it.
They aren’t trying to take down Russia. They are trying to install and enforce Russian economics here and in other allegedly free first world countries.
Plants will be moving to Russia to build for the BRICS countries before long.
Already happening. A lot of trade deals going on all over the world and new manufacturing deals.
ARBITRAGE.
It doesn’t matter how cheap something is to a man without a job…
Any time anyone loses job is awful…but right before Christmas?
My heart goes out to all the families who have been affected.
Second company to do that…remember the furniture manufacturer, recently closed and fired everyone via email?
I do. I fear there will be many more.
You are right again, Bet. The 1,350 people that are getting the boot don’t make government or company policies. And I can’t blame the company much. Those poor folks are just reaping the poisonous fruit of Marxism clothed in green robes.
I’ll take back my not blaming the company much. Fiat Chrysler are as bad as the marxist fed gubmint.
Watermelons….green on outside, red on inside.
“What some see as man’s power nature is really man’s power over man with nature as his instrument..” c.s. lewis(approx).
Terrible, G. It doesn’t take much to imagine how worried they are. We’ve been there.
Why?
Because she has a heart.
Bless you, Maquis.
A big heart.
Thank you, my dear friend.
Not me. It’s Illinois and union workers. Guaranteed they almost all voted Democrat. They got what they voted for. I’m sure they are happy.
And their families? Their children?
Hope & Change you can believe in.
Pass the tequila.
Well if the 1350 workers support the fake administration, they get what they deserve.
for all the other innocents embedded within them, that is very sad for their impending circumstance.
And maybe it can be an “I told you so” moment to awaken some who didnt believe President Trump
Just remember; “I told you so” doesn’t do a bit of good -after the fact….does it?
It may open some eyes. May!
well they vote 55+% for GOP so they are trying especially since they are a close neighbor to Crook County, IL
Spot on, SC.
Great the car brand that already stands out for its unreliability and cheap construction is now moving shop.
It’s a shame the jobs are lost but they weren’t exactly stellar made, do not think the move to Mexico will help that.
Unreliable, cheap and overpriced.
For some reason, a lot of union types in IL favor this brand.
My best friend is a Jeep Junkie. Even he prefers older Jeeps as the newer ones are junk!
This may have nothing to do with the other, but…….

IIRC, only union outfits can benefit from green subsidies/tax credits in renewable energy technologies…
During the opening stages of treasonous NAFTA “discussions” & implementation, my Airframe mechanic brother was worried about the airlines taking advantage of cheap labor and moving the hangars to Mexico and him losing his job here.
I believe that was the beginning of my awareness of the potential devastation to America’s manufacturing jobs, the foundation of American prosperity. He used to look for Pat Buchanan doing interviews on Brinkley, McLaughlin, whatever was on TV and his warnings about American Corporations taking advantage of cheap/slave labor slim to none environmental and quality controls standards (and no Unions) and little to no expensive environmental laws and relocate out of America and avoid paying taxes (loss of tax ratables for local/county/state/federal Gov’t) and ship it back netting the Corporations increased profits, while tens of millions of Americans lose jobs and towns/counties/states dry up.
The good ole days and than the UNiparty crushed the MAFA movement and pushed America into NAFTA, WTO and destruction

Still waiting for conservative States to find their cajones to fight for the energy right underneath our feet. Instead, we get creeps like Bill Lee, governor of Tennessee, who have put all their chips in the EV battery business.
Why you ask?
Because they’re stupid…and you can’t fix stupid.
Illinois is about as polar opposite from conservative government as you can get. It doesn’t matter who is downstate when Chicago population dominates the balloting.
The rest of the State of Illinois is soooo disenfranchised. I also find it hard to believe that the votes in Shitcago blow away the rest of the red State of Illinois (pun intended).
Democrats control elections in Cook, so they elect themselves by ballot harvesting.
Here in IL we have fraud in all counties, not just Cook.
Isn’t Bill Lee a RINO, i.e. UniParty?
Alaska is the same way. There is more gas here and our prices are higher than anywhere but maybe Hawaii. The cow won’t even consider pushing. She is registered as an R, but she votes with the D’s, not with the R’s.
And every morning, when I wake up, I say to myself, “none of this happened on its own.”
You are my favorite of the day.
Where shall I send the roses?
You are too kind and obviously have a giving heart.
God Bless you and yours and Merry Christmas.
There are a lot of people with good hearts, but they aren’t in charge, the politicians are.
Whaddaya wanna bet Sam Bankster-Fraud sold a lot of shares in this company to his suckers – er, investors.
Treepers invented nicknames are the BEST nicknames of all!
Automobie plants carry an average multiplier of 14. That is, every job at an auto plant supports an additional 14 jobs through the spending and respending of the auto plant payroll within the community where it is located. The Rockford metro area where Belvidere is located, with a metro population of 345,000, WILL lose about 19,000 jobs if the plant permanently closes.
it is the supply chain plus all the daily businesses that the workers support….typical auto plants today are just a collection point for parts where final assemble is done……those parts are often manufactured in the surrounding local area
That’s just a fraction of lost employment. Glass, upholstery, brakes, nuts and bolts are all subcontracted outside the plant. This will repeat itself over and over carrying American jobs outside the country. We can’t win this war without energy and the Marxist control our sources. The time is right now. I wish I wrong but can see the hand writing on the wall.
Don’t forget to mention the stores…..grocery, cloths, sports apparel/equipment etc. The whole community will pay the price; as usual. As long as the liberals get their way, they don’t care who has to pay the price.
Just wait till there is no place to go when they want more !
The de industrialisation of EU has already begun.
EU is peeved at Biden….probably one of the main reasons for Macron recent visit.
EU is mad because they see their businesses moving to the US due to the high energy costs -and mainly because they can come over here and play the “Green Deal ” and scoop up the subsidies from the Biden Inflation Reduction act.
Now….my question is that when those EU countries manufacturers see places like Jeep moving to Mexico–will they think twice about getting those Biden subsidies and move to Mexico? Energy costs and regulations are more favorable in Mexico than US.
Crime in Rockford area can rival Chiraq.
Rockford already has an out of control crime rate. They don’t need this.
Good!! Lesson learned! Don’t vote Democrats
Oh, they will just go to Mexico, and give the money to them. Isn’t that what they been doing for the past 30 or so years anyhow (along with chima).
The cartel has moved into car building.
Priceless.
it is a choice between $2-10/hour versus a $40-50/hour cost for a UAW employee
They keep this up and there will be no more UAW if they aren’t working; will their be?
No way will any of those vehicles be used to smuggle dope../S
🤓
A good friend at a large truck manufacturer once told me of rather large productivity differences in the Mexican workforce as opposed to the American work force. That company regretted moving a plant to Mexico. However, I do not blame Mexico in the least for keeping to “traditional” energy production.
When there is no gas Mexico may have us as immigrants.
The EV Fairy Tale does not have a happy ending.
You can quote me.
If not for the government propaganda along with the entertainment and news media being parrots of their talking points, no one would be interested in electric vehicles. Is is a market driven product, or one from the likes of John Kerry et al?
By the way, where did all those folks who were gonna leave the U.S.A. when or if Trump won? Are they still here? Yuup, they never left did they…..not a one did……..sort of like the so called ‘movie stars’ – not.
Let the libs themselves reap what they sow.
Yes but the rest of us suffer for their fantasies.
Just a shame that we ALL will have to pay the price.
yep, too bad
apparently they always wanted to transfer wealth from the developed world to the underdeveloped world and now they get their wish.
The underdeveloped countries are still ripe for monopolies and crony capitalism, which let the banksters game “extract value” and pull more profit. They don’t really want competitive markets, because they might lose the game. It’s easier to win when you control all the pieces, including government officials.
What are they gonna do when there isn’t any more when we are gone? They have done nothing for themselves have they? Always with their pockets open to the U.S.A. suckers. Not gonna last much longer.
Meanwhile, North Carolina just handed $1.2 billion to a communist Vietnamese company to build a $4 billion electric car plant.
It was all done in record time including ignoring all environment regulations including those for battery production.
No one really wans EVs yet US manufacturers send plants to Mexico while America bends over backwards to build communist plants here and even Tesla builds a new plant in TX and then bring in a Chinese communist for CEO.
North Carolina’s governor Cooper is owned by the CCP.

Wilson and the site of the communist car plant (Chatham County) are in what the globalists have deemed the “Extended Triangle”. This is the rabid/rapid expansion of the Agenda 2030 Piedmont-Atlantic mega region.
Massive amounts of cash aligned with WEF nd Agenda 21 are flooding in. The extended areas are where they are putting dirty industries and housing the slave labor – connected by “light rail”
I see “lab-grown meat” has been upgraded to “cultivated meat”. It has been green lighted by the FDA, but hasn’t got regulatory approval ~ yet.

Better yet it is made with a 3-D printer—-and the topper is it’s Kosher, so now cheese burgers are on the menu.
The rabbis won’t certify the “pork” thou, they are afraid it could be mistaken.
The same Israeli company is building a plant in Belgium.
That part of Illinois is still very red. Unfortunately the ballot manufacturing that was isolated to Cook County has now been exported to the entire 9M resident metro-area. Counties that were 60+% GOP less than a decade ago are now 60% Commie. There hasn’t been that much mass-migration to support such a huge, dramatic swing. It’s pure vote fraud.
Illinois is a state to forgetabout. Just let it rot on the vine. It’s not worth trying to save. The IL GOP has been sleeping with the democrats for 50 years. They are as corrupt as the RNC. Focus on saveable states and making sure FL and TX don’t get co-opted into what IL and CA have become.
Stellantis is the result of the 2021 merger between automakers Peugot SA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. FCA has owned Chrysler (and its Jeep subsidiary) since they merged in 2014. Jeep manufacturing plants remain in the US in Toledo, OH and Detroit, MI. It is only the EV version of the Cherokee currently manufatured in the Belvidere, IL plant which is being moved to Mexico. Most of the regular Jeeps will still be made in US manufacturing and assembly plants.
Will: Stellantis makes the Jeep Renegade in the south of Italy, and builds another model, the Compass, in Mexico. Engines and transmissions come from various places.
Pretty pathetic for this Mopar enthusiast to see Chrysler owned by Peugot.
Good thing there aren’t any people who want to travel with trailers any more. All these EV’s won’t carry them. Guess they will just to have to stay in motel/hotels instead of their own rigs. Hope they car afford the prices. Of course those who are paying the big bucks for the EV’s can always afford it anyhow.
Lower crime rate ?
lol at how correct you are
Only pain can break the spell. Like a drunk that must hit rock bottom before change can come.
In years past, politicians, tycoons, government functionaries, and so forth just wanted to steal as much money as they could get away with.
But today the stakes are different: control those they can’t destroy; destroy those they can’t control.
The objective: they want to be worshipped as gods and have unfettered access to children.
This war will not end with an election, nor with exposure of more corruption, nor with Congressional investigations. It is without end or conclusion until the return of Our Savior.
So, brothers and sisters, reach down into that deep well of strength Our Father has given us, top off your righteousness, and know that Our Savior is with us.
♥️
Will the last company to leave America please turn off the lights.
Just last week there was an article that Stellantis is looking to move it’s European electric car manufacturing to India, they are working on QC points and other issues with building in that country.
They claim the cost is just too high to build the units in the EU. Once again cheaper power, materials, and labor.
India is major user of coal fueled electrical power generation, with terrible transmission power losses, as such that EV green BS just doesn’t wash—again.
These folks all just want all the money they can get their hands on because soon, it isn’t gonna be worth the trouble. Hope they all lose their shirts before it’s over. They all deserve it.
I can understand wanting to cut labor + cost of doing business costs in the United States – but – given the Cartels + Economy in Mexico —— in light of The Great Reset —– it makes this a likely —- suicidal move…..(unless they are lying + the just plan to shut the factory down + retire….)
How do we get “Government” OUT OF OUR LIVES? That is the 6 million dollar question.
First, get rid of your cell phone. Crush it with a rock. Run over it with your car. Throw it into a nearby ravine. Put a 9mm round right through the middle of it. Whatever makes you happy. It’s 100% up to you. Nobody can stop you from doing it. Just do it. You can thank me later.
The withdrawals are a trip.

Don’t forget the constant mandatory bribes (morditas).
The DemocRats that run Illinois will just raise taxes to cover the lost revenue to the government coffers.
They really don’t care about the workers that will lose their jobs.
NAFTA AND THE PESO COLLAPSE (Goldman Sachs Robert Rubin using the Fed to bailout his buddies)
https://www.epi.org/publication/briefingpapers_bleck/
What a sharp stick in the eye. Not only do the employees lose their jobs, their jobs go to Mexico! We’ve seen this play before.
All of the problems the REAL President Donald J. Trump remedied, the “occupants” have not only revived but made much worse.
At least Sodom & Gomorrah was destroyed quickly.
I am 30 miles from Belvedere IL. It is near Rockford, Illinois. Rockford never recovered from the Carter recession. Tons of empty houses for sale for 15- 30k. The only problem they look like they were imported from inner-city Detroit and property taxes are usually 15k or more!
Coming soon to all America. Depopulation – then move who is left out of their homes and cars, and into high density urban housing with mass transit to take them to their assigned labor.
sDee: I’ll be moving to one of those “empty” states, in the middle.
Those laid off workers should hire south Texas drug gang coyotes to lead them over the border to Mexico for a new life where they get jobs at the Mexico plant.
They probably voted for Biden..let them eat it.
Unions give their money to democrats and democrats give their jobs away.
It’s like roaches voting for RAID!
Sometimes you have a really good way with words. This is one of them
Ah, I am sure there is some aspect of pay to play or no pay, no play? Consider this:

Good. EVs are about enslaving us. And let’s not forget the child and virtual slave labor used to mine the lithium, etc.
Didn’t all the unions vote for Biden? This must be what they wanted.
Sorry, In this day and age, if they aren’t made in America, I’m not interested in them. This is the biggest problem in the nation, has been for many many years. There was a time when this country could have been self sufficient , but instead decided it needed to help other countries by buying their goods and even sent our manufacturing to their countries instead of keeping them here. All they have tried to do (the political idiots) is buy friendship. Now the whole rest of the world is laughing at this country……we have made bigger fools of ourselves thanks to the selected resident.
Too bad the political group running things won’t impeach him like they did Trump, and Trump did nothing in comparison to what this idiot they selected to replace Trump has done. Just MOP.
And which party do the unions continue to support, overwhelmingly, in every single election? And which party did the residents of Illinois just overwhelmingly support in the recent elections?
And which party continues to miss the forest for the trees in every single opportunity they are given to mention the above listed facts?
Party of evil and party of stupid…two wings of the same da*n bird!!!!
What SHOULD be interesting to see is if the unions finally remove their collective (pun intended) head from their rectum and reject the Marxist party they’ve supported for decades.
But they won’t.
Sadly, the Union Sheep will allow their masters to put them first to pasture, then to slaughter.
Why the heck build a plant in Mexico? All their workers are here.
You’ll know when we are really in trouble when the Mexicans start leaving Chicago.
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
Illinois is an anti America first S hole state that punishes its citizens and businesses with higher taxes because it needs the revenue for funding the corrupt governments woke agenda.
Since reality has been banned, while the future economic outlook of our country is being ignored by it’s corrupt politicians, damaged by their policies and lied about daily by the media.
It makes perfect sense to move to a business friendly country like Mexico, rather than moving to another libtard S hole state.
I agree with that except for the ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
Elections have pre-determined outcomes.
There are no consequences for cheating.
I can remember a time when it was ” not the nature of the evidence but the seriousness of the charge.” Now, not so much.
Symbolism over substance.
Translation: the corruption in Illinois is worse than Mexico
Keep voting demonrats. Enjoy. s/
Wow here we go again , the last big nose was carrier AC production . Now Jeep/electric . Must be that strong economy nobody outside the DC Beltway can find .
Problem is how are they planing to staff it when millions of low wage workers are flooding across the border to turn this country into the shithole they fled !
You gotta love reality !
Like GM Astro van : engines made in Mexico , wiring harnesses in China tires from China and a UAW member telling me to buy American to save his job !
As he stamped the body out of steel from Japan .
Well there you haven’t the tax base backbone of America Vaporized for the Wall Street bonus class with the blessings from the politicians bought and paid for until the CCP / WEF / NWO & Soros .
My God I try so hard to love my country but the powers that be prove how much they hate me with every move they make for themselves and “THE BIG CLUB” that the majority of Americans will never be a member but will be bankrupted to keep it afloat
Got some news for you…my 6.0 Chevy L96 engine in my 2500 HD WT, along with the chassis was made in Mexico. AC Delco replacement ignition wires were made in Mexico but was missing a spark plug clip on one of the wires. Replacement manifolds made in China, exhaust donut made in India.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: When you are re-elected PLEASE do what you can to protect American jobs! And it isn’t just manufacturing, IT is being decimated be work sent over to India.
Did they wait til after the mid-terms to announce this decision?
The demand for battery powered vehicles isn’t worth the costs. Couple that with the complete inability of the electric grid to support mass adoption of these coal vehicles make this an industry going nowhere fast.
LOL.. So what exactly did you think you were voting for when you voted for the party of the ass.?
Viva Mexico!!!
Viva Yucatan!!
Viva Mexico!!!!!
Don’t get too excited. My 2018 Toyota truck was built in Mexico and it has proven to be a lemon. No steel in the bumpers, backwards wired windshield wipers, no actual wheel wells, a bunch of useless electronic trash included to make you think you are getting a modern off road vehicle, a computer programmed automatic transmission that changes gears when it doesn’t need to and doesn’t when it needs to making for a cruise control system that makes the truck drive too dangerously to use most of the time, OEM tires that didn’t even last 20,000 miles on a truck that only weighs 3500 lbs, and at least 5 recalls that had to be repaired by the dealership auto shop.
Because of COVID, that shop is now staffed with mechanical imbeciles who show up for work maybe 40% of the time. My truck is now in much worse shape than when it was new, which should tell you something about how our own economy has been doing. Good luck to people who have always thought the Jeep Cherokee was a great car.
Man that is a sad commentary for Toyota . They of all folks have managed to sidestep a lot of this type of problem.
I have a 2015 Mazda 6 that was built in Japan and it has been the best and most reliable car that I have ever owned.
Based on your experience described above, it doesn’t look like the typical Japanese quality of Toyota carries over to their Mexican manufacturing plants.
As a patriotic American, I would love to buy an American car that was both made by an American based company and made in America, but the GM cars and Fords that I have owned have been nowhere near as reliable as my Mazda 6.
I don’t consider Jeep or other Chrysler brands to be American brands any longer as they are now owned by Stellantis, which is based in Amsterdam.
My 1995 Chevy Lumina, was made in Windsor, Ontario, so it wasn’t completely an American car, but at least it was fully a North American car.
Viva CHIAPAS!
