The question around a third party has been debated on the pages of CTH for over a decade. After CTH researched each of the last four UniParty U.S. presidential elections we came to the conclusion in 2015 it was necessary to break the two-club system.
It was the need for a third party; and CTH recognizing Donald Trump as the outside pragmatic independent voice who personified a third option; that initiated our 2015 support for what everyone was calling the “long-shot” outsider candidate at the time.
With the American electorate now awake to political issues around the UniParty; and with evidence of 74 million+ Trump voters, and entrenched republican party unwillingness to be an independent second party option; the question about a third party is far more prevalent. In this video Dr Steve Turley uses the example of Brexit in 2019 to highlight how a third party in the U.S. could actually succeed. WATCH:
We need to deal with the voting integrity issues on a state level, that is where we must engage and fight to fix issues with ballot fraud. That fix requires state legislation to address and control mail-in ballot use. They cannot use the COVID excuse forever.
Then, and only then, I would take the third party discussion one step further….
… Given what we have witnessed in the past four years, how can we fathom NOT creating a third party? The two current parties, democrat and republican, are wings of the exact same big government bird. There is no viable option except to form another party.
The “reform from within” proposal is a good idea; meaning to take over the apparatus of the GOP and force change from within the party. However, unlike the EU models cited there are structural protective systems within the DNC and RNC that protect them from being taken over. We are seeing that structural issue with RNC support for newly elected terrible candidates like Mitt Romney in 2018.
The RNC doesn’t even attempt to field or enlist candidates against weak or ineffective republican incumbents. Exactly the opposite is true. The RNC will not support, with logistics or data sharing as examples, any primary challenges against incumbent Republican politicians.
This is how the club retains control and protection over the members; so it is somewhat of a futile effort to attempt to takeover a party that has built in self-defense mechanisms. Just look at how the RNC structurally failed to legally (or proactively) support President Trump, because from the outset never passed the club’s entry and purity test.
As a consequence a third party is needed even if you want to take over the republican party as the long-term goal. There needs to be an architecture, a framework, for a challenger to mount a primary effort against an incumbent RINO or uniparty republican.
The primary challenge framework needs to include independent fundraising systems outside the RNC control. That independent financial mechanism is how Donald Trump was eventually able to mount a successful insurgency against the RNC candidates in 2016.
Without a third party influence; and considering the rule-books used by the RNC; the predictable 2024 republican presidential election will field these final four candidates.
DeSantis is closest to MAGA. Noem is MAGA-lite with Koch Brothers edge. Haley will be the supported RNC candidate. Cruz (term expires in 2024) will play the role of controlled opposition, conservative-base splitter, all while gaining material wealth.
CTH can clearly see this traditional RNC approach with Nikki Haley in 2024 as the establishment front-runner like Jeb Bush in 2016.
If we do not initiate an outsider option using the MAGA community as the base, these four will be used by the RNC to install Nikki Haley.
The final RNC club argument will come down to club elites who demand that a woman be the next Republican front-runner. Those same elites will have “Palinized” Kristi Noem by implanting club operatives inside the Noem camp intended to undermine her campaign.
Any candidate working inside the RNC club structure will be vulnerable to the RNC club leveraging against them at a specific moment. The club pick is already well known to those who have: (a) followed the club ¹events; (b) followed the years of club rule-books; and (c) who know the exact road-map the club deploys for every election.

If there is no outside candidate with independent resources the club will pick Nikki Haley just like the club was trying to pick Jeb Bush (’16)…. just like the club picked Mitt Romney (’12),.. just like the club picked John McCain (’08)… Wash-Rinse-Repeat.
The outsider (3rd party candidate) needs to be the MAGA candidate, and that structural support needs to exist early on, just like outsider Trump was able to create in 2015.
We need to work on this soon and create the third-party endorsement system quickly to start preparing with valid candidates for the 2022 mid-term primary races.
Sarah Palin mentioned this yesterday and said it may be time to do it.
A few crtitical things for a third party: Money (Trump had his own fleet of transportation), a donor list (part of the money thing) and media savvy and access (Trump did not need the huge number of consulatants to poll test every comment because he had a natual confidence to say things “correctly”).
Sarah Palin herself has excellent political perspicacity, thus excells on the the poll testing and media savvy points but she was washed out money wise by Romney in 2012 and physically threated I believe, via her large “unprotected” family so could not afford to continue in the 2012 primaries. She was a force in the following years helping several new senators gain a foot hold. A third party might therefore borrow some of the Trump resources (MAGA member aka donor lists) and maybe his transportation and maybe A NEW MEDIA network that DJT could start up?
A key priority for a third party will be to push for electoral validation laws that can eliminate or reduce the rampant fraud and sense of hopelessness from conscientious voters
At this point we have a good TWO years (while the Dems try to do DC legal related damage) because the 2022 elections will uncover several vulnerable senators including AK and maybe MO or PA where RINO republicans can be challenged and other like GA and AZ where short term elected (Dem) officials should be challenged.
Let’s say 50% of Trump voters would join a new party. 35 million X $10 is $350 million. Not bad for starters.

The strongest part of a third party, will be its 74 million voters and donators. Yes, the GOP has corporate, but those who supported Trump have the will to succeed. Trump needs to launch his own media platform, and do it now! January 20th he makes the announcement, and any sitting MAGA senators can cross the aisle to be our first voices.

The third party wouldn’t have the 74-75 million voters who voted for Trump this past election. Many of those votes (I don’t pretend to know the number, but I think we can safely call it “a lot”) were cast by Republicans who had no love of Trump or his policies but regarded him as preferable to the Democrat alternative.
If the effort to create a third party doesn’t reach out to the millions of disaffected left-of-center populists who are currently in the Democratic Party camp, then what would happen is that the GOP would splinter into two camps, neither of which would have the numbers to beat the Democrats.

I wouldn’t dismiss Haley winning a federal race. Taking down Confederate monuments and flags is controversial among Southern Whites, but it would get a shrug outside that demographic.

No. This is only true at the national level. We most certainly can clean up at the state level where election issues like choice of voting machine are decided. It won’t be enough to retake the country because it certainly won’t be possible in many states. However, I suggest that (just like you are doing a Spring cleaning you do one room at a time) we look at the states that we can clean up as the future core of a 2nd American Republic. We clean up what we can and separate as best we can from the rest.
I also suggest that as part of a 3rd-party effort to retake states from Dem/Rep corruption, we look at peeling off conservatives counties in failed states (like soon to be GA) and absorbing them into solid states like TN/AL/FL. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. You don’t need Atlanta’s permission to leave if you have TN’s permission to join. It is time for Americans to go our own way, together.
At the National level yes, but at the Sate and Local levels third parties have a better chance of succeeding which builds proving grounds from which higher office candidates can be drawn from.
Paper ballots. Physical Polling places. In person. Photo ID. Hand tally. NO computers. Locally elected officials, term limits. The Republican party is in a vulnerable state, and is primed for a hostile takeover. We came close this time. Wouldn’t it be wiser in the short-term steal the GOP’s built-in infrastructure, purge it of traitors, and then down the road change the party name?
The party has automatic ballot access in every voting place in every jurisdiction. That ballot access is priceless, especially since access rules vary from state to state, and are deliberately designed to deter and block new parties.
I fear that while we’re standing outside grocery stores with clipboards getting the required number of signatures to get on ballots, the Uni party will go merrily along screwing America and laughing all the way to the bank.

I have worked in the GOP State arena. You have to remember that the GOP and the DNC are private organizations. The candidates that bring the bucks in get the big play, thus, Pelosi is Speaker of the House. This is how the committee appointments are secured, etc. the lobbyists pay way more than the constituents and so we have become less relevant. To really turn all this around will require some planning. Trump got shoved out by Corporations and corporations own politicians.

You may well be right. But remember, third parties have generally failed because they concentrate entirely on the Presidential election, and build no infrastructure at the State and local levels. For a viable party organization, you need the ‘farm teams’.

Changing ballot laws is meaningless unless those who violate current laws are prosecuted. Every one of them needs to be prosecuted regardless of their office. Every one of them must be prosecuted, none of them will be.
We don’t have control of prosecutions. We have to do what is in our power. We can start a 3rd party. We can change state election laws. And once we have elected officials we can hold criminals accountable.

I say it’s high time to lay waste to the current political establishment and their enablers. We now know 90% or more of them aren’t looking out for us and/or are marionettes of a financial-political ruling class.
They say money is the mother’s milk of politics. 100 million MAGA supporters need to donate the funds to keep the movement going. Some will give more and some will give less, but 100 million X $200 = $20 billion, which should get the ball rolling in all states and localities, including satellites and server farms for MAGA Media platforms. FB, twitter, et cetera can go too hell.
Only a person like President Trump could be trusted get this started and get it to work. After all, he harnessed the movement and we love him for it.

I remember the first Republican primary debate in 2015. I heard Jeb, Kasich, Rubio, Graham and a few others all say about one thing or the other “we can’t do that because”. But not Donald Trump. He started to win me over that night because I could see that he was the CAN DO guy. If we want to save this country we had all better be prepared to be CAN DO guys.

I joined the Young Republicans as a teen, and have been a registered Repub ever since. This is something I never thought I’d do. But if a miracle happens to my GOP, I can always re-register for the 2022 primary.
There is no point is unaffiliating yourself with IL GOP now. You should vote in the GOP primary. A third party won’t have a primary. All you need to do in IL is show up and declare your party in the primary. Fairly simple.
There isn’t another primary for two more years. Perhaps you didn’t understand my point?
The point is to send a message, and it’s the only one I have left right now. The parties notice immediately when their roles drop. They deserve to lose my registration at this point. Enough!

I’ll calmly tell them (and will email also) that because of their lackluster support for my overwhelmingly popular Republican President, I can no longer support the party.

I just had another thought. What if we (hopefully “we” includes Trump and his entire movement) focus on politically targeting corrupt and dishonest politicians and officials of both parties. Instead of being the target, we can be the ones doing the targeting. The media would have to be exposed, too. Take out the scoundrels one at a time. Addition by subtraction. Expose them all. Of course, it would be a never ending job. Kind of like the Golden Gate Bridge painters, who paint from one end to the other, then go back and do it all over because by the time they get to one end, the rust has started again at the other end.
The problem with another party, aside from it being a huge money pit, is that it would inevitably fall prey to corruption due to the economics of it all. Can we have a party with no candidates or politicians, one that solely focuses on rooting out corruption?

Sayin’ it again. We already have a third party in America which never has candidates. The party decides ALL elections, and members are courted by all candidates. Independents! and the numbers of unaffiliated voters is growing.
For me right now the most important thing is to actually get a media channel up and running that represents the MAGA movement. It needs to be MAGA certified and call out the Uniparty everyday by name. Stop the republican vs democratic bs. The battle of our republic vs the UNIPARTY has to be front and center every broadcast. .

The MAGA movement should be prepared to reach out to disaffected left-of-center populists (see Jimmy Dore, for example). There are a lot of them, and although they have different preferences over policy with MAGA in certain areas, they have a lot more in common with MAGA and right-of-center populists than they have with the corrupt, corporatist war-mongering Democratic Party that sells out working class Americans to hostile foreign powers like China.
Sundance none of these people out there will ever be Trump. Who might these MAGA candidates be? Do they even understand what Trump stood for? Do they or would they understand MAGAnomics? How about his ME and Foreign policies? I don’t even know if most people understand how Trump was able to do what he did. So will there be people to fill his shoes and understand what he did and how to do it?
It will be hard, Kushner had direct communication with Bibi and all that due to familiarity. POTUS already had worldly connections because of his businesses. That’s another reason why an actual non-politician business man could fairly transition into a Presidency.
Time for a 3rd party. Make sure if you became independent, you can still vote to primaried all rinos.

Yes, this is true. I’ve started reading posts again from the walk away group in Facebook (I’d had to temporarily unfollow it, because they’re were just too many posts.) Now I see that quite a few of those who walked away from the Dems to vote for President Trump are now walking away from the Republican party too and talking about formation of a new third party. (And the reason I’m still in Facebook is that I belong to a few private groups for medical issues that have been extremely helpful.)
I will NEVER vote for Nikki Haley. No more Bush/Romney’s – even wearing a skirt. They didn’t support Trump…and I am not supporting any of them any more. “party unity” and ” for the country” were used to get us to vote for RINOs in the past but RINOs did not care about these 2 things when they didn’t vote for Trump or support them. I one hundred per cent support a third party. The GOP has been on life support since McConnell et all screwed us in 2010. President Trump saw that and was able to form a coalition from that fracture.

Without MAGA support, the Ds will force the Rs from the feeding trough. The Rs will pick up a few crumbs, but will be blamed for every mess, and denigrated as holdover Trump loyalists.

after the treachery of Pence, Graham, Scott, Scott, Rubio, Loeffler, Purdue, Christy, Geraldo, Lee, Coryn, CCP McCONMANnell, etc. the question answers itself. There is no other option.
The upside is that the money follows winners. The Trump team has proven they can win and motivate voters with a clear honest message.
Issue #1 is an assumption that 74 million voters are on board to start with on a new party. Fact is, 60 million of those voters would’ve voted for whoever the GOP candidate was (e.g. Mittens 2012 totals).
Issue two is the assumption that a large group of people will agree on a platform for a new party. As someone who was part of Buchanan Reform in 2000, I can tell you how diverse people can be on some issues while agreeing on others.
If you can somehow work out those two issues, you’ll have a start at least.

I can guarantee you have no involvement with being part of a 3rd party. I have.
Keep in mind that 63 million voted for Trump in 2016 and 74 million+ in 2020. We can get those voters. Trump’s policies were successful so we have a great starting point for a platform.
And many of those same voters voted for McCain in 2008 and Mittens in 2012. I’m one of them (not proud of it)!
If just 20 million of 2020’s PDJT voters will only vote Republican, you have a big disadvantage right from the get go.

Don’t telegraph your plans to the enemy, or, in our case, enemies.
I plan to retire within a few months. There appear to be a lot of retirees in the Treehouse. My background is in the legal field. Volunteers will be needed to get the America First Party (or whatever it is ultimately called) off and running, in every state. I can’t even begin to imagine the paperwork involved.
We retirees may want to consider committing time, in our respective states, to tasks specific to our former professions, tasks that we could easily ace, tasks that we could train others to do.
That said, it might be a good idea to first volunteer at my local Republican office, just to see how things are done at the local, state, and federal levels. I will have to mull over the ethics of doing that, knowing in advance I’d take the knowledge with me. (If the Republicans are savvy enough, they’d have me sign a nondisclosure agreement, in which event I would just walk away…)

Honestly. Someone needs to get to the Trumps. They need to buy, create, or brand a media station and call it Trump News Network. It will be an instant success. That will cut through the BS. You can run a third party right through it with no problem and literally destory the DNC and RNC in one election cycle. Assuming you have a good candiate.
