Six days ago, in Marsberg, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the U.S. approach to Iran, saying Washington was being “humiliated by the Iranian leadership” and demanding the conflict end “as quickly as possible.”
Three days ago, President Trump responded with an announcement that U.S. troops in Germany would be drawn down, and there would be a 25% tariff on all imported European autos. {GO DEEP}
Suddenly, Friedrich Merz reverses his position:
Imagine that.
But seriously folks, when people argue that it’s not about the economics of the thing – remind them, it’s always about the economics of the thing.
Germany is facing a perfect storm of economic consequences following their decision to chase the climate change agenda (Build Back Better) and eliminate their coal and nuclear power plants. Combine the German/EU policy to stop purchasing cheap LNG and oil from Russia, in addition to skyrocketing energy costs from oil/gas flows from the Middle East, and the outcome is rising manufacturing costs leading to massive layoffs.
The German industrial economy is the heart of the EU economy, and President Trump is now hitting them both right where it hurts.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz is already facing serious political issues within Germany as the economy continues to contract. The political opposition parties are on the rise and Merz is in a very precarious position. President Trump is exploiting this vulnerability by apply further economic pressure on Germany.
Just yesterday….
Via Bloomberg – “Germany’s automotive industry pleaded for an urgent de-escalation in the tariff dispute between the US and the European Union and called for immediate talks between the two sides after President Donald Trump said he would increase auto tariffs on the bloc next week.” (read more)

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
Smells like…… Victory !
Smells like sauerkraut (I am sorry, forgive me).
…approved…
better than kimchee
I’ll just have a rum coke on the rocks with a spritz and a garnish of lime…
Didn’t PDJT say sometime over the weekend that the number withdrawn might be over 5000?
Yes he did.
I’ve heard and read a lot about the strategies and the outcomes, but I can’t recall if I heard anyone say that this was going to be the beginning of the end for the *eu, but it could be a great additional benefit. As the eu goes, so goes the NWO.
Hopefully the globalists are defeated once and for all as collateral damage in the iran conflict.
*I use lower case letters for those I despise like the eu, bidet, obummer, clintons, gore, soros, rothschilds, committe of 300 and others.
We can’t despise them enough.
Indeed he did
Merz of the Coalition of the Three Stooges will never learn…
Missed opportunity for “lear”. Shame really. Carry on.
When will they ever learn? President Trump does not play.
Foolish Europeans with their arrogant bluster..
Leftards never learn, they have to be taught.
Oh, they have already been taught, by Satanists.
Do you think they can be saved? Possibly, but only by an exorcist.
A song comes to mind: it’s to late to apologize…🎶
Merz is finding himself in quite a pickle now. Not mentioned in the summary by Sundance is the fact that there is a precipitous population of muslims in Germany now and as they are increasing in number, as always happens, their demands are increasing. With the aforementioned layoffs as a strong possibility due to the tariffs, this will only add more discontent to the masses already upset that the government imported these ideological opposites into the country. I am anticipating some serious upheaval in the coming months.
Merkel-Reich sucks.
It will come. Just dont know which country will set it off.
Global vomitting.
President Trump posted this afternoon again
So…. is the Bundeskanzler going to threaten to remove the 20,000 German troops who have been stationed in Kentucky and Wyoming for the last seventy years, where they have protected the US and provided economic support to the local areas?
No? I thought not.
The fact that these German neighbors of Ramstein use the tones they do in talking about the issue illustrateshow cluelessly dependent (nowhere NEAR “co-dependant) they are, more than anything President Trump might say.
Each of those who made commented in the viewo GREW UP believing that the support, money, and blood of the United States was a given for them.
sarcasm
Pigeon English,
It’s always about the money.
Bring home the military-
Their purpose for being there has been compromised by an inept backstabbing dependent coalition of deadbeat “politicians.”
Agree, Sundance. Let him cook! Bring our troops home. We can use more MEN here.
The United States of America adds a new territory. the European United States
I find ut humorous that Trump hasn’t made that offer. Of course they’d say it was an invasion plan.
…my response is always, “Then you don’t know what economics is about. You probably took a course in college.”
I agree with all of this and I also agree that big things are happening (UAE leaving OPEC)…..but I need some reassurance here. I make enough money where $4.40 a gallon for gas is irritating but not life changing. I agree that Iran is the worst of the worst and I’m proud to have a president who is willing to take on the problem. However, there still is a huge cost problem in this country and Trump will be blamed during the midterms whether it’s his fault or not. Presidents live and die by fuel prices and right now those aren’t looking good. I know we have time until the midterms but we have to win them. Trump can’t be a lame duck for half of his second term. Gas prices must fall end of story or we lose the midterms.
Gas has been as high as 5.02 back in 2022 and it was more than likely higher in certain areas of the country. What I also know is 2% inflation is baked into the economy. Gas prices are manipulated by lots of factors. Just ask your State to stop the gas tax.
What should be a bigger concern is the government giving away billions and billions upon billions of dollars to illegal border jumpers. And everything would be cheaper without the thing called the Fed Reserve having the Treasury printing money to pay for it all, plus keeping rates high so the debt is never paid off. The Fed Reserve is a Private Bank and should not be controlling the money supply.
Germany was getting all the natural gas it could use virtually free from Russia via the Nordstream Pipelines. The combination of German engineering and plentiful Russian natural resources was an unstoppable economic freight train of prosperity. It powered the heart of German automobile manufacturing with low cost natural gas to Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche and Volkswagen.
Why would the German government cheer the destruction of their own economy? 🤔
Klaus Schwab told them to.
They’ll own nothing & be happy eating ze bugs.
Seriously that was for the indigenous proletariat. The ruling class never suffers.
Everything “renewable” or “green” or “sustainable” or or …
Has been sheer stupidity.
The sun is not matched to our energy demand.
Wind is flat out erratic.
Short of pumping water up to a reservoir, we have no sensible energy storage.
And they hate dams.
Batteries are a joke. Burning brightly.
Getting rid of a reliable, safe, nuclear fleet of reactors that provided 30+% of their power needs,
went beyond stupidity through idiocy to just downright evil.
Then pushing a war against your cheap supplier of gas, supporting the people who blow up your supply, and picking economic fights with your security backup that can backup your gas supply
How can one people let their leaders do all this to them? And worse, immigration?
Because destruction of their economy, culture, and people is the intentional goal.
End
On Sunday_s one hour prime time talk on German’s public broadcaster ARD, Herr Merz renewed his Iran remarks about Iran war but dismissed suggestions that resident Trumps’d decision to reduce U.S. troop levels in Germany, dismissing was political retaliation.
BTW: Every figure named for cutting troops (in Germany) should be at least doubled, as relatives will also move out of the country. This has also devasting impact on communities hostin U.S. soldiers!

Trump reminds me of MasterBlaster from ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome’
Master: “Who run Bartertown?”
Aunty: “MasterBlaster runs Bartertown”
Master: “Say LOUDER…..who…runs…BarterTown?”
Aunty: “MasterBlaster runs BarterTown!!”
Master: “Embargo….lifted”
FAFO. The days of Germany using the United States military as it’s cudgel are over.
Merz can go Fahrvergnügen himself.
The economic multiplier effect of spending and re-spending the military payroll in Germany is probably similar to a manufacturing plant, which has an average multiplier of 10. So, each US military person based in Germany supports TEN German jobs by spending and re-spending that cash there. Those supported jobs aren’t just near the base, but are located all across Germany as the products they purchase are made all over the place. It will NOT be just a local effect, but will be a hit to the German economy spread across the country. An annual 1.4 billion Euro hit to the German economy.
Sounds like someone took him aside and explained economics to him.
On another note, I also can’t help wondering, since we have effectively neutered European countries militarily by making them dependent on the US for their defense, once they are required to provide for it themselves and remilitarize, how long will it be before they start ANOTHER intra-Western European war that America will have to go put an end to …. again.
the thing that pisses me off the most is that Germany has ruined its country. it has become such a liberal shitshow. how weird the pendulum of its cultural heritage has bent so far over the other arc, it’s not even the same country anymore. they have allowed their our ideology in the scams known as diversity, inclusiveness and new green deal to completely ruin any chances that this once great society out of the reconstruction into self realized ruin. It’s embarassing and its going to hurt so so many people.
Well, history is in the making…and this time, again through pain and suffering. Perhaps, just perhaps Germany can become that engineering and manufacturing titan again and focus itself in building for a future that isn’t wasted on dumb dumb projects.
Just perhaps this will lead to germany’s own MGGA movement. But first, they need to reclaim freedom of speech and start taking border security and citizenship more seriously.
God Bless America
I spent 18 months near Ramstein practicing target aquisition on the aircraft that went in and out of there.
If there was a large American withdrawl from that area, the local economies would be devastated and the locals would be very unhappy because they’ve been milking the American GIs since world war eleven, or maybe before.
Speak coarsely and carry the big market for goods. The power of our economy has always been there, given away by most. Irks me greatly.
Screw the EU and especially Germany and France. Pull out of NATO. Let them fend for themselves. See how quickly their socialist BS failcascades into crawling back to us on all fours.
It’s amazing to be that people still have to try to test Trump!
They will spew BS, thinking Trump is just running his mouth, after years or Trump backing up his words with the Actions, you would think these idiots would learn by now.
I’m hoping that Merz is backed down enough that the auro tariffs don’t occur.
My youngest is a real go getter. Married, 25, only attended college for half year. Works
at a great paying job. Great enough paying that he closed on his first home 2 month ago.
The downside: He works at a German auto dealership. So, in our case the tariffs could
grossly affect everything he has been able to accomplish to date. So, I’m hoping that
Merz plays nice enough that the tariffs don’t occur.
Also, the Germans that are assembling the cars probably don’t suck, but the people
that are in charge of their country absolutely suck . To the nth degree.
“Silly euros, US troops are for real allies…”
I think something we are all having to learn is that Trump often says things for the setup that he may or may not intend to follow through with unless he absolutely has to. And the threat is intentionally overblown to ensure he gets to his idea of the middle. The threat to Iran to wipe out a civilization is a case in point. That made no sense, since it would mostly hurt the Iranians he is concerned about. But it got the world’s attention and set the starting bid really high.
We are used to everything in government being done privately behind the scenes, and we learn about it when the negotiating is over. Even though the people put DC elites in power and they live off of our contributions, they act like they are the Board and we are the janitors. With Trump, however, we are the board members. We witness the negotiation as public discourse, as if we are entitled to know (we are). The art of a deal is to start out high (higher cost, bigger threat) to give yourself negotiating room. We are witnessing that. But the public isn’t used to that and politicians and the media aren’t smart enough to benefit from it. So while we watch Trump negotiate, the media treats the negotiations as a settled contract and grouse about nonexistent terms being violated when no agreement even exists. And the rest of us are sitting in the board room, but we look like a deer in the headlights. While we witness Trump’s radical different business model of running the government.
The economics is the means….it is ultimately about the politics of the thing.
Don’t you just love it when you have a president to fight for your country in every front.😎
