….. The White House announced Friday that it will resume public tours next month on a limited basis.

The tours, which were canceled in March as a result of the across-the-board budget cuts known as sequestration, will begin again on Nov. 5 on a reduced schedule. Instead of five days a week, the tours will run for three days a week, according to the White House. (more…)
Those were the words from Dr. Benjamin Franklin as he exited the Constitutional Convention in reply to Philadelphian Mrs. Powell’s question: “what form of government have you given us”?

We spend quite a bit of time on this website talking about the need to stand in the sunlight of your own beliefs and not be discouraged. There is a reason why President Obama tells our national audience to stop listening to talk radio, bloggers, and those who stand in opposition to the leftward march of his rigid ideologues. They would prefer you to find comfort amid the shadows.
Their reason is the same now as it always has been. The Fabian’s need to convince you your views are in the minority. They hold a collective view of all governance, and individual liberty and freedom principles run directly in opposition to their own goals.
The Fabian goals are achieved by destruction of common acceptances and “Remould Closer To Their Heart’s Desire”. Hence, they need you to actually operate against your beliefs of individualism, and they need to continue convincing people to vote against their own individual best interests.
Considering the morale of liberty against the backdrop of the Fabian intents we have drawn historical references to the Polish Solidarity movement.
Several weeks ago we outlined one such similarity; in response a reader who lived through the Polish Solidarity experience wrote a message to share: (more…)
The current administration’s cabinet personnel are all so similar it becomes, well, actually odd.
‘When this job came available, it was such an incredible opportunity to work so closely with the president. But everything’s a cost-benefit, right? And the benefits of this and the influence of this job are sufficiently great that there were more costs I was willing to take on the family side.’
– Samantha Power
No Samantha, actually it’s not a “cost-benefit analysis”, not even close. It is actually just a matter of priorities. We do that which is important to us, and we avoid or postpone, if avoidance impossible, that which is not seen as important.

New York – United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power has said that it is the thrill of a lifetime to be working at the international organization that she has idolized for years, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t be happy it’s over. (more…)
Obamacare Website Builders Desperate, Stressed, Panicked "Fainting" From Overwork…. Woe's Abound ! !
The Washington Post has an interesting review of the company, CGI, who built the Obamacare web platform and the current employees. It appears the people who work for CGI are typical representative images of federal bloat.
CGI apparently prides itself on it’s liberal work policies and now their poor staff is stressed from all the deadline work…. “Stressed” says they….WaPo […] The healthcare.gov debacle has taken its toll on the working environment at CGI Federal’s 10-story complex in Fairfax, Va., according to a staffer working on a related project who asked not to be named. “There’s been a lot of agitation and anger, because CGI really prides itself on having family flexibility,” he said, noting the firm’s liberal telework policy.
Instead, the Obamacare contract has sucked more and more staff off other projects, and people have been working around the clock to first get the site ready for Oct. 1, and then fix it when things started to go wrong. “There’s a lot of frustration,” the staffer said. “People are getting sick, fainting in conference calls.” (more…)

When New Jersey Democrat Senator Frank Lautenberg died on June 3rd 2013, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had a decision to make. Generally speaking, Governors appoint interim representatives as replacement Senators to finish the term (through 2014) of the deceased. But this potential appointment held some *other* considerations. (more…)

Splodey Heads in every room at Woolsey Hall….
(Via Politico) A finding in a study on the relationship between science literacy and political ideology surprised the Yale professor behind it: Tea party members know more science than non-tea partiers.
Yale law professor Dan Kahan posted on his blog this week that he analyzed the responses of a set of more than 2,000 American adults recruited for another study and found that, on average, people who leaned liberal were more science literate than those who leaned conservative.
However, those who identified as part of the tea party movement were actually better versed in science than those who didn’t, Kahan found. The findings met the conventional threshold of statistical significance, the professor said.
Kahan wrote that not only did the findings surprise him, they embarrassed him. (more…)
RT @reidpillifant: Pete King calls for a Republican war on Ted Cruz http://t.co/ONBx8oUGbj
— Pete King (@RepPeteKing) October 16, 2013
New York […] To King, the fault doesn’t lie broadly with Congress, but falls squarely on Cruz and his 30 or 40 “acolytes,” who put pressure on other Republicans.
“I think it’s important for people in the Republican Party around the country not to just come in at the end and say, ‘Congress was dysfunctional,’ or ‘Congress screwed up.’ That’s too easy to do,” King said. “Say who it was. Because it wasn’t Congress. It was one person who was able to steamroll Congress and unless we target him for what he is, he’s going to do it again. So I’m hoping other Republicans will join me and start going after this guy, and say we’re not going to let it happen again.” (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – A proposal to end the government shutdown and avoid default orchestrated by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Leader Harry Reid includes a nearly $3 billion earmark for a Kentucky project.
Language in a draft of the McConnell-Reid deal (see page 13, section 123) provided to WFPL News shows a provision that increases funding for the massive Olmsted Dam Lock in Paducah, Ky., from $775 million to nearly $2.9 billion.
The dam is considered an important project for the state and region in regards to water traffic along the Ohio River.
As The Courier-Journal’s James Bruggers reported in 2011, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said they needed about $2.1 billion for the locks due to “stop and go funding.” (read more)
