Within 12 hours of the Friday announcement that Canada had walked away from trade discussions with the U.S, we were able to piece together what the four points were. Several people disagreed and claimed something else was involved. Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney affirmed specifically the accuracy of those four points.
While Prime Minister Carney used his verbose gaslighting to describe them, you can listen for yourself. It boiled down to four issues: [1] U.S. streaming services writing code for “search engines” in the French language (cultural issue). [2] The U.S. having a right to reject a trade deal made by Canada with a non-market economy, ie. CHINA. [3] Removal of tariffs on Canadian assembled heavy trucks, semi-trucks and industrial trucks (not in the auto sector). [4] Canada demanding 5% of gross revenues from U.S. tech platforms, with an attitude that U.S. controls North American trade.
You can listen to his own words describing these issues. WATCH:
The United States must, as a matter of U.S. national security and survival, immediately cut all trade ties with Canada completely. I’ll explain why this is so critical and important.
The most appropriate metaphor is the drowning victim (Canada) with an intentionally placed anchor on its foot (China), now becoming a threat to the rescue swimmer (USA). If we don’t cut ties, we risk our own livelihood.
Here’s the four counterpoints:
♦The Stupid French Language thing. The French language stuff was an ancillary aspect where the Canadian Cultural Police were demanding that all U.S. streaming platforms (YouTube, Netflix etc.) must have search engines using the French language so Canadian users can search for stuff to watch using the French language. A ridiculous issue that was not part of the trade discussion, but Mark Carney saw political value in blowing up the issue.
This is really stupid, because when you buy your hardware (TV, Phone, Computer etc.) it asks you what language or country during set up. If you live in France, you put France. The operating system does the rest. We don’t code search engines for French in FRANCE because the OS does it! But Canada was requiring U.S. tech companies (streaming services) to install search features in French [I guess so they can set up the OS in English but get some ancillary feature.] It was a stupid “side paper” in the Intellectual Property sector of the trade discussion.
♦U.S. Right to Limit Canadian Trade Deals. This point is exponentially ridiculous for Canada to be upset about because the current USMCA/CUSMA already has that clause. The U.S (or Mexico) can exit the USMCA if Canada enters into a trade agreement with a “non-market” economy, ie China. [USMCA Sec 32:10]
Canada was already in violation of the USMCA/CUSMA when they entered into a trade agreement with China and agreed to import Chinese EVs. This action triggered the U.S. to become more focused on the stuff Canada was going to import; hence, the renewed emphasis on the clause.
This is critical. It’s not an ancillary issue. The Carney administration had requested “Fortress North America” a synergetic alignment of U.S-Canada trade principles. Canada claimed they wanted a united North American continent against the world on trade. Therefore, this talk of Canada being upset about joint collaboration and agreement on trade agreements with third countries, a point brought up repeatedly by Carney just doesn’t make sense.
If Canada wanted to join a united trade policy for North America, where each nation is anchored to the $31 trillion U.S. market, then each nation in North America must hold the same baseline trade agreement with third parties, other nations. Those were previously agreed principles; until all of a sudden Canada accused the U.S. of dictating terms and violating its sovereignty.
♦U.S. tariffs on Canadian “heavy use trucks”. This is not the “auto sector” despite Canada trying to make heavy duty trucks part of it. These tariffs are on industrial trucks, farm equipment, heavy trucks and semi-trucks. The U.S. said no, these are not autos and auto tariffs do not apply.
The reason is simple. Tractors, heavy industrial trucks, big rigs assembled/built in Canada are compromised when built in Canada. Why? Because they are full of cheap Chinese component goods and parts that wear out quickly. The U.S. wants two things on this issue. Either: (1) Make heavy industrial trucks in the USA, or (2) stop using cheap Chinese component parts. Failing to do so retains tariffs.
The parts that Canada are using are not even available in the USA because we tariff and reject them, so why should we accept them when Canada installs them? Either quit using Chinese parts (hence, the trade alignment against Chinese imports) or accept a tariff equal to the rate we would apply if the product was coming directly from China. This is the USA approach to that specific sector of heavy trucks.
SUMMARY: Yes, the United States dictates the terms for North American trade, because the United States is the overwhelming center of North American trade and consumer spending. The USA is the market, and Canada has an entire economy about the size of Texas. It is ridiculous to contemplate that the Canadian government can dictate terms against the U.S. economy, and we have no option other than to adhere to them out of some demanded politeness.
Enough already. Announce the termination of the USMCA.
- Build a North American fortress.
- Secure the Western Hemisphere.
- Exit NATO.
- Respectfully engage with each bilateral interest as a sovereign nation.

We all agree! I just don’t understand what the US is waiting for? Did the admin quit listening to our voices here at the treehouse? Or is this about the midterms? I’m one of those people who’s electric will be shut off if the idiots up North follow through on their threats!
It’s a process. Sometimes that’s just the way it is.
Probably the midterms. Press would go 100 negative if he did it now.
They’re already 100 negative.
Exactly right. And those in that propaganda bubble on the left aren’t going to vote the right way anyways. Getting on with the business of severing ties with Canada is not just smart, it’s necessary.
Please!
I’m assuming you read and watch all the information presented on this site, the fat turd that made that statement was informed that all their gasoline diesel fuel and more comes from the U.S. Yes, they send oil down here and the reason is they have no way to get it from the western part of the country to the eastern parts. They have to ship it down here to be refined and shipped it back up as fuel. If they did that, do you understand the amount of jobs that would be lost up there. Say they did shut your electricity off, you do know that its called a grid for a reason, it is all connected we would just go into a computer and redirect (open some switches) and hit the plus or minus keys and send you the electricity from our own generation.
Waiting for what? The 6 months warning. I think they have been warned enough all ready.
About the midterms. If they, Trump Adm. was worried about the midterm he would have waited till after the midterms to raise these issues, not before. I believe the U.S. citizens are happy, finally someone is putting a stop to the world ripping us off.
Yep, you got it right (idiots up north). We do not need them!
President Trump wants all people to have success….that includes Canadians. Deals take time.
Obama went north and helped them cook up a strategy to make things painful in certain US states prior to the midterms. That is, election interference and, in his case, treason. You must live in one of the targeted states.
Carney is set to speak before the European Parliament and take part in a European Political Community summit on security and trade on September 17.
It ought to be his Davos speech X10 and some standing O’s.
If I was a Canadian, I would be asking Carny why he really sabotaged the trade negotiations.
Canadians who belong to the Liberal party are truly morons. Just an iota of critical thinking would expose this idiot for the WEF tool he is.
One of the scams to destroy Canada:
Not all of us voted for this. Some of us knew better but could not change the tide, and now we will all reap the repercussions. At a loss for words.
Very few voted for the Jotard. Suck it up! He stuck it to America for four years and then some.
The 40% will suffer because of the 60%.
Canadians are subjects they do not question authority. When their English king says jump they just ask how high , and bend over so I kiss your behind.
It’s not just Canadians, Mike. Initially I’d say over 85% of Americans bent over for the CHYNA/EcoAlliance virus NON-pandemic sponsored by every MSM and government health agency mouthpiece.
What’s totally insane is the number of people who still believe all the lies.
Not all Canadians, I’ll posit.
But then everything I ever say is a sweeping generalization, and as such, not to be taken seriously. 😉
The situation is quite similar in EU, US and Canada. The same problems mean that the same people are causing them. The BMs sorry, PMs in britain and Canada have the same script. Look at our societies. britain and Canada and the EU are just a little further down the road than we are. Currency is inflating, savings disappearing, the militaries are all run by the woke fat people and the governments are desperately trying to cover their tracks. They cannot allow Trump to put a broom through the bicycle wheels. The EU politicos are terrified of the elections in Germany and britain and France. What will happen if they are voted out?
Look at the situation We have mexicans, the eu has muslims and canada has chinese. These three groups of hungry young military aged men are expendable in the Globalist plan to rule. The mexicans will easily submit to Davos. The Chines and muslims will not. We will suffer until this is sorted out. At least we are armed. It may turn to self defense on your porch.
Carney is Trump’s little bitch.
You got thar right
I see two ways for this to go: if the globalists retain their stranglehold on Canada, then they will drive that economy into the ground and eventually use Canada as a proxy for China to attack the US, just like how the EU is using Ukraine to attack Russia. The goal for globalist parasites is always to steal more resources, so this seems like the most likely outcome to me.
The alternative is that the Canadian people get fed up with their deteriorating economy, throw out the globalists, and then send a new administration to the negotiating table with the US. This seems less likely because Canada doesn’t have an electoral college system. Their urban leftists control the nation’s course.
We should see clear movement one way or the other within a year, maybe even within 6 months. It’s gonna be a cold winter up north.
” use Canada as a proxy for China to attack the US, just like how the EU is using Ukraine to attack Russia.”
That’s unrealistic.
Canada, regardless of its large coastal areas, is practically a land locked country. The west coast ports can be closed easily. The same goes for the St. Lawrence River. The one port on Hudson Bay, used mostly for Agriculture exports, is only ice free a few months of the year.Canada would be overrun in weeks. The Canadian Liberal Party voters may be morons, but even they have a few brains cells left to see such folly.
They must not use those brain cells very often, they just blew one of the best trade deals ever. Now all those Canadians can suffer. They can’t fight back they gave up all there guns.
Uh. No one gave up their guns.
Im not sure where you got your information, but that is hogwash.
There was never a confiscation. There was never anything of the sort.
The libturds made certain guns illegal, you cant buy a lot of new gun models anymore, but no one was ever forced to surrender any gun, of any kind. There are a hell of a lot of guns in Canada. If you have ever been there, you would know this.
Repeating nonsense is certainly not helpful here.
Canadians are brainwashed by their government through their government sponsored news. They have been trained to hate America and Trump. They aren’t thinking about the vast repercussions of this destroyed trade deal. They are just thrilled Carney gave Trump and America the middle finger. They have no idea what has just happened. None.
use Canada as a proxy for China to attack the US, just like how the EU is using Ukraine to attack Russia.
Really? You think Canadians will take up arms against the US because China will manipulate them into doing it?
Sorry, but there is no way Canucks will start shooting at America.
There liberals they even eat there own
Hate to be the one to state the obvious!
If Trump wants to cancel CUSMA, it would be canceled!
The agreements Canada made with China are blatant CUSMA violations!
Yet Trump and his wolverines still tried to renegotiate CUSMA instead of kill it.
And Canada has blown up those renegotiations, to attack Trump domestically and internationally, and Trump still doesn’t end CUSMA.
Trump has a history of saying things he does not mean. Sometimes it is political lies. Lock Her Up! Usually it is a negotiating position. Kill NAFTA to get CUSMA! A good argument can always be made that he would be better off if he meant and did the things he did not mean.
Appointing Bondi and Patel. Appointing Ratcliff. Trump had no intention of cleaning up the Swamp this time around either.
Letting Z abuse him and NATO march to war, Trump has no intention of leaving NATO.
Letting Carney play and abuse him, Trump has no intention of ending CUSMA.
I love your 4 items Sundance! America would be better off. The world would be better off. Trump will be better off.
But the evidence is rolling in. We have been played by Trump. And Trump is being played by his enemies. None of that good stuff is going to happen on Trump’s watch.
It sucks being addicted to hopium. It sucks being played. It sucks watching bad things happen because the good things promised were always lies.
Do you actually read anything here posted by the people who run this place? What a bunch of bull crap you posted. Stating the obvious means you have zero clue what you are talking about.
Listen to your self.
What I said was obvious to you.
But you still have to discredit me to discredit your own eyes.
I am calling out this return to hopium. Nothing good comes from deluding ourselves.
So, you’re one of those that Bongino talks about …
I don’t give a flying flip what that traitor says.
If I did, I would have listed his betrayal with Blonde and Ka$h.
its possible china was just to good in infiltrating and we cant let our past allies be taken away. this is a delicate dance trying to decouple them
You give TN a bad look. Stfu please
I think you may have missed something.
The current CUSMA treaty has an annual review mechanism.
That”s what makes investing in Canada a risky option for any foreign entity. Business want certainty and they don’t have it, and never will. The longer Trump delays the 6 month notice, the more damage to Canada’s economy. Businesses are leaving , or cancelling projects ,in droves due to uncertainty.
Carney and the moronic Liberals had the opportunity to make a deal. The results of their actions will continue to drag down the Canadian economy.
Many confusing issues with Trump inaction. One thing certainly affecting it…Susie Wiles.
This is all about the election. Orange man bad. Canada is our closest ally. The reason our media is not reporting what’s being presented here is because it’s all about the election. The truth must be buried.
That picture of Carnage that Sundance posts is
“flippin’ the bird” to the Canadian people.
Completely agree! USA must do those 4 things.
‘2. Secure the Western Hemisphere’
Long term important. Ninety percent of Latin America is Christian.
Sundance, how long until Carney addresses reality and caves? Or do you think this is such a stubborn man focused more on politics than economic reality that he isn’t going to back down?
Trump’s Memes Have Apparently Broken Mark Carney

Upsets him does it?
It is our patriotic duty to step up…
And I’m steppin’ 🇺🇸
Gahh, mind bleach needed
I used all mine up ….
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Rubio, as senator, instigate a bill that completely voided the ability of the US to leave NATO with the blessings of the senate critters? If that is true, stop saying “leave NATO” might be impossible without a congress willing to accept the fact NATO is obsolete and an executive branch willing to fight to get us out.
Hahaha.
Wife lives in US. Kids live and study in US. House in US. 91% investments in US. Dude is a globalist puppet & a “poseur.”
Just because congress needs to approve leaving NATO doesnt mean we can’t take our toys elsewhere.
The terms Sundance puts forth at the end of his article are quite acceptable.
Oh Canada, where have you gone?
Here Here!

Great article! I fully agree with Sundnace! MAGA.
Bessent Blames China For Derailing G20 Joint Communiqué
Tyler Durden’s Photo
BY TYLER DURDEN
WEDNESDAY, SEP 02, 2026 – 05:20 AM
The Group of 20 finance meetings in Asheville, North Carolina, concluded on Tuesday after four days of discussions among finance ministers and central bank chiefs on global trade. The news late Tuesday was that China had derailed the group’s efforts to issue a joint communiqué by refusing to endorse specific language targeting trade surpluses and export-dependent economic models.
“The country with the world’s largest and unsustainable current account surplus, the People’s Republic of China, was the dissenter,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters.
Bessent added, “Non-market-based economies pushing out a never-ending spring of cheap exports is not sustainable.”

The Leipzig Incident Has All The Hallmarks Of A False Flag
Did the CIA do it? So many choices
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/leipzig-incident-has-all-hallmarks-false-flag
So many choices, with the participants working together closely enough that it’s probably collaborative.
But if we have to pick one, I’ll go with the one
-with a history of big blatant public false flags,
-who need to justify a very unpopular, corrupt, totalitarian “war economy”,
-who want to incrementally provoke war with Russia,
-with a long history of despising their citizens (even now only exceeded by GB & CA),
-whose country it’s in.
Canadian geese flying around his head.
Perfect.
Those are Donald ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree wholeheartedly on the 4 points. What troubles me is the traitorous weenies (the ‘rats) in this country who will try to sell us down the river.
Canada becoming EU-adjacent is a violation of the Monroe Doctrine. The remedy is to blockade the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. If the problem is China, blockade Vancouver.
Where do I sign totally on board.
Yes indeed!
Announce the termination of the USMCA.
Canada has been using the US of A for more years than I have been alive (74).
It’s time to let them swim the financial ocean on their own.
Sink or swim,
Maple Leafers!! 🍁
PDJT can make the EU/NATO an offer they can’t refuse.
Reorganize NATO into a EU defense force and negotiate new defense treaties with all non EU countries, or, America will withdraw from NATO.
Reorganizing NATO will give the EU credibility in that they will be responsible for their own defense and allow all countries to modernize their defense agreements. It will also spur some countries to join the EU.
On the downside, if the EU does NOT do this they will suffer the embarrassment of US leaving NATO, undermining the funding and protection of the continent, and possibly causing the breakup of the EU itself.
Given a reorganizing of NATO, our congress is out of the loop because if NATO no longer exists, congress only has a say about the new agreement. This also opens the door for North and South America, Greenland, Canada, Russia, Asia, etc to rethink their relationships with the “old world” and look closer to home for security and trade.
With the current war in Ukraine possible blowing into the European continent, it is time for America to put it’s foot down. We could say, EU, you’re on your own, and they either destroy themselves or put a stop to it.
It’s called the old world because it is just that. We could even steal the “new world order” and apply it to Trump doctrine. Europe really has no choice here.
I’m sick of them eliminat all trade let them rot on the vein!!!
The buried lede – Canada is China’s lackey. Canada sold it’s people out, and they don’t even seem to know it. Good time to get out of Canada.
CTH is on the right path.
Just because something has existed for 20…50…100 years – does not mean it’s ‘right’ or even advantageous.
Of course, the msm (which has little or no understanding of business, much less trade) is all-in for Carney and Canada – the TDS is strong in them!
Canada will be our Achilles Heel if we accept their deal.
There’s some wiff of the divine right of kings in Canada‘s attitude. They really are a remnant of British historical arrogance.
Yes, yes, and yes.
Outstanding summation ! Thanks Sundance .
I agree that it is long past time to dump the successor to NAFTA. Make the formal declaration.
The two countries of interest – Canada and Mexico – are not even remotely the same. (After all, one is partly Tropical, while the other is partly Arctic.) The only thing that EVER tied them together was that both were “re-boxing facilities” for China.
I’ve had plenty enough of “the CCP” and “CCC = Cheap Chinese Crap!” We all(!) can do better than this.
Canada, Mexico, and the USA should re-remember national pride and say, “Make [my_country] Great Again!!”
It’s not just an acronym on a red hat … In life, you don’t get anything until you won’t accept anything less [from yourself] [from anyone else]. No one will ever do it for you. (Why should they?)
[1] U.S. streaming services writing code for “search engines” in the French language (cultural issue).
“Approximately 11.2% of Canadians (about 4.1 million people) can speak French but cannot speak English”
Having met actual French persons I would posit French in Canada is a creole and French Canadians can barely make themselves understood in France.
English of one stripe or another is far and away the largest understood language on Earth.
One tiny place in Canada needs to get up to speed 😉
Their position is that of the “victimized” beneficiaries of the Civil Rights Act in the US.
So long as they can use their situation to extract wealth, get positions and treatment that the rest of Canada can’t, feel superior to English Canadians and otherwise indulge in perpetually aggrieved, abusive entitlement, why would they ever stop?
So, what is the difference between invoking the 60 day decision on CMUSA and then “temporarily pausing the 60 day clock” as a reprieve for some reason as is done now on a number of issues being handled by the President’s Team ???
The media and Uni-Party spins are already negative.
It seems something needs to be done differently with respect to Canada and the Marxist-Socialist-Totalitarian activity in the American Hemisphere (including the US and Canada).
It also seems this may even put pressure on the US Price Gougers resisting the President alongside their Congressional Uni-Party buddies.
Why is our moronic ambassador to NATO claiming the US stands with Germany on the “hybrid war” false flag in Leipzig?
See Jim in TN comments above … President Trump’s team are slipping into the “best of many bad choices” category when it comes whom to support to govern the US.
Did the NATO Ambassador act off the reservation??
That would be the only mitigating factor at this point.
And Rutte too needs to be on a tighter leash! Nato could fast become a major US problem. I hope Pres. Trump lays down the law!
Having followed Trump for these many years I’ve learned something myself about patience.
There is a fine line between patience (faith in cause) and being played. When that line gets blurred is when division and doubt rightly start creeping into play.
The line is becoming blurred.
looks like he is trying to decouple china from our past allies… and if he fails china uses them to get us
Sounds just like that BS artist barak insane obonger!
The other day I went into my computer and change its language to french and then german, it took less time to do that than to type french and german!
192 House Democrats Refuse To Condemn Socialism As Party Scrambles To Avert DSA Civil War
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/192-house-democrats-refuse-condemn-socialism-party-scrambles-avert-dsa-civil-war
Does anyone have thoughts on why the Trump Admin has not announced termination of the USMCA? Is there an upside to holding off? Just curious given case here to initiate termination.
I believe it’s to maintain a position in negotiating. If the weaker side has to contemplate what will happen, and that continues for an extended time, it weakens the weak side because anxiety just gets worse the longer it goes on.
It’s also a control thing. When you hold off on doing something and just wait for the other side to respond, you have controlled the situation. You made them respond by not responding.
AMEN, JUST F__KING DO IT!!! KICK CANADA TO THE CURB!!!
Pretending not to know things is inherently dangerous. Reality will catch up to you eventually. Canada is feeling this now.
I don’t understand why counterpoint 2–that Canada is already in violation of the USMCA–is never mentioned by USTR Greer or Ambassador Hoekstra when reporters, American and Canadian, say, “But what about the US being a bully telling Canada what countries they can and cannot trade with and you just hate Canadians and what about the mean memes!!!!!”
Tell the Canadians to POUND SAND! A N D Close the damned border!
