This essay is directed to you, because in the end, how this turmoil about gun control turns out will depend largely upon your decisions and actions over the coming months and years.

I sincerely wish that members of Congress—who may soon be voting on new gun control measures—would read this essay, but I realize that’s a pipe dream, considering the impenetrable bubbles around those exalted entities. So I’ll settle for you, Mr. (or Ms.) Security Agent, since you already gobble up everything on the internet, and I don’t have to seek you out.

A decade ago I wrote the novel Enemies Foreign and Domestic, a tale about how tragic events involving the misuse of firearms can be used by an evil administration to misinform and mold public opinion to support its malign anti-freedom policies. (more…)

Staggering to bear witness.   What the heck is the “Distributive Property” of math?  Anyone?

(From Neal Boortz via Weasel Zippers)  This really has to be seen to be believed … so the picture is here for you to see.  This is a page out of a work book for your government school student.  What school and what school book I can’t tell you … maybe the lady who sent this to me will step forward and let us know.

This is how our government schools – and the liberals who run them – effectively brainwash (though indoctrinate is a much more polite word) our children into accepting the liberal philosophy as basic truth.  This particular worksheet is meant to help your government student “understand the distributive property.”  Now I’m not a dreary slouch at math … but this is the first time in my life I’ve ever heard of the distributive property.  (more…)

If the earlier reports we shared are accurate Chavez is in a medically induced coma with a respirator to maintain his breathing function due to spinal metasteses of his cancer.   The only reason to keep him *technically* alive is to insure he can pass the date of his inauguration Jan 10th, avert a constitutionally required re-election, and then his appointed replacement will take over.   Here’s the latest:

CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez won’t be able to attend his scheduled swearing-in this week, Venezuela’s government announced Tuesday, confirming suspicions that the leader’s illness will keep him in a Cuban hospital past the key date.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro broke the news in a letter to National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, saying on the recommendation of Chavez’s medical team, his recovery process “should be extended beyond Jan. 10” and for that reason he won’t be able to attend Thursday’s scheduled inauguration.

Maduro said Chavez was invoking a provision in the constitution allowing him to be sworn in before the Supreme Court at a “later date.” Cabello announced he had received the request during a legislative session. (more…)

If anyone wants to go back and look at historical references to Germany circa 1933/1934 this is profoundly similar in ideology.    Jewish Mayor Ed Koch supported, and endorsed, candidate Obama even though he knew Obama was hateful toward Israel.   Koch, says he figured Obama would win, so it would be better to support him and maybe Obama would go easier ‘on his’ people after the endorsement.

It’s like we’ve entered a time-warp back to the time of Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

In Discussing HAGEL – I admire former Mayor Ed Koch’s willingness to break with his own party on issues of principle, but his comments to the Algemeiner today are mind-boggling. In between some very strong denunciations of the Chuck Hagel nomination, Koch casually let it drop that he suspected Obama would abandon his pro-Israel positions after the election. WARNING – This report is disturbing in the extreme: Perhaps nothing should shock the psyche any longer, but this sure does.   This investigative report outlines women in South Africa who are intentionally drinking moonshine type alcohol to generate disabled babies.

The unhealthy, or disabled, baby born is worth FIVE TIMES more in social welfare benefits than a healthy child – so they choose to intentionally create babies born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.   For them it is merely a factor of quantified economics…  For the baby a life of disability, incapacity and dependency.

New Hampshire – [F]or those unaware, a conservative project of sorts has been underway in New Hampshire since 2001. The idea is that Americans of conservative ideals are to move to New Hampshire, gather in communities, run for office, and work to drive the state toward libertarianism and conservatism. It is called the “Free State Project” and adherents are called “Free Staters.”

These Free Staters figure that the state’s motto, “Live Free or Die,” should really mean something and it is these citizens whose freedoms legislator Chase wants to oppress.

In her December 21 post, Chase wrote that, “Free Staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today.” (more…)

Sadly hilarious, in a predictable way…. we are only four days into the new year and already it appears five of our ten predictions for 2013 will come to fruition....

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has privately told other Democrats, including President Obama, that if the administration used its constitutional and executive authority to continue paying its debts in the face of House Republican opposition, he would support the approach, according to a source familiar with Reid’s message to the president.

The simplest escape route out of the debt ceiling impasse is for the president to direct the Treasury to find a legal way to pay its debts. The Treasury then has a variety of options. One gaining particular attention relies on a law that allows the Treasury to mint a coin of unspecified value and deposit it with the Federal Reserve. Those funds could then be used legally to pay debts. (more…)
