Note: President Obama says they are not “combat troops”.    So, what other kind of troops are there, other than “combat troops”?   What’s the mission if they are not there to provide security, carry weapons and shoot things?….  a division of #HashTag troops? 
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he’s sending about 200 more U.S. troops to Iraq to protect Americans and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
The announcement will bring to nearly 800 the total number of U.S. forces in and around Iraq to train local forces, secure the embassy and protect American interests.

Obama notified House and Senate leaders in a letter on Monday. Obama says the additions include security forces, rotary-wing aircraft, and support for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. (more…)

(VIA CNN) — The bodies of three Israeli teenagers who authorities said were kidnapped this month have been found in the West Bank, Israel’s Channel Two and Channel Ten reported Monday, citing sources in the Israeli military.

The Israeli military said Monday that it found three bodies northwest of Hebron and that the bodies are “going through forensic identification.” The military also said it has informed the families of the three missing teens about the discovery.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called an emergency security Cabinet meeting about the issue Monday; an announcement from the Cabinet is expected shortly, according to the Israeli military. (more…)

As a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y expected, Judge Debra Nelson agrees with defendant (NBC) motion and dismisses the lawsuit by George Zimmerman against NBC for slander/defamation.

There really was no other way this court was going to rule.   Judge Debra Nelson was the same judge from the original criminal trial.   Two things were brutally obvious:

Firstly,  she is horridly inept in legal analysis and opinion.    Nelson relies heavily on her judicial clerks to form and write her decisions.   Subsequently,  in the higher profile Zimmerman case, her staff level decision making was exposed and she was twice reversed in pre-trial rulings by the 5th Florida DCA.
Those ruling reversals were before the Zimmerman trial formerly started – and there were at least 4 or 5 more pre-trial decisions the defense team could have easily appealed and won, but just chose not to.   Including the actual start date of the trial itself which she refused to delay even after the 5th DCA reversed her deposition rulings -in favor of defense- 3 days before trial start was scheduled.
Secondly, Nelson’s actual trial rulings were generally flawed; and most legal analysts would agree she was/is legally weak-minded.   However, worse than the absence of legal acumen was her visible bias against the defendant, Zimmerman, and his defense. (more…)

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – It was a violent night in New York City after at least 13 people were shot in incidents spanning each of the five boroughs.
As CBS 2′s Janelle Burrell reported, one of the shootings happened on Staten Island, where a man is fighting for his life after being shot in the face.
The incident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on Amboy Road in the New Dorp section of Staten Island.  Police were still on the scene Sunday morning collecting and processing evidence, including a backpack that belonged to the 42-year-old victim.

Yesterday we shared a potentially explosive new aspect to the IRS targeting of groups antithetical to the White House.   In essence Lerner’s attorney, William Taylor III, told a politico reporter that his client was responding to the DOJ’s request for information, not soliciting them.
Yes, there is good reason for people who have followed this story to feel as if it really wouldn’t, or couldn’t, or won’t make a difference.   Given the current state of political affairs a great deal of righteous frustration that nothing shall be done regardless of who initiated the illegal machination is not misplaced…..
Also, Yes, against the recent Cochran V McDaniel outcome in Mississippi this frustrated sentiment is justified, very justified.    And yes, the establishment GOP is just as opposed to the Tea Party as the establishment Democrats in this regard.   Yes to all of this…
However, it really does make a difference.

If the DOJ initiated the inquiry to the IRS under the auspices of FBI investigation of 501(c)(4) group investigation -as the claim by attorney Taylor apparently makes clear- many of the outcomes toward the groups in question reconcile.
Take the example of “True The Vote”, and “Gibson Guitar”.  When both groups were under scrutiny they were visited by various federal agencies like:  the EPA, ATF, OSHA as well as IRS.
However, if the Department of Justice is the internal hub for all the various agencies to assemble their marching orders, then a very specific trail of known evidence is also possible based on outcomes.

MISSISSIPPI – President Obama has not taken long to signal just how Thad Cochran will repay the debt for the quarter million dollar campaign donation from anti-gun Michael Bloomberg. A renewed push for gun control is on the horizon, and Obama is expecting great things from Bloomberg and his new anti-gun group. Now that he has a senior statesman in his hip pocket they expect to have greater success in their effort to push measures like background checks.
Obama’s attempts at gun control were defeated in 2013,
“Since legislation has been controversial for some time, I thought that this was going to be a breakthrough moment, [the Sandy Hook Shooting]” Obama said. “It was probably the most disappointing moment I had in dealing with Congress.” (more…)
