Think the mealy-mouthed, pansy Republicans can learn a lesson from Australia? Yeah, me neither… but the lessons are there for the taking if they’d just pull their PC embedded, wishy-washy, wind-testing heads out of their proverbial asses.
(Via Breitbart)  The conservatives won a stunning landslide victory in Australia’s national elections, capturing 53% of the vote Saturday. Conservative leaders emphasized a hard line against immigration, against a carbon tax, and against continual increases in government spending. This “no compromise” attitude became a key to victory.

Conservative leader Tony Abbot, a former Rhode Scholar and Catholic seminarian, has been the center of controversy throughout the campaign because of a “take-no-prisoners” attitude. And for a former boxer, this is hardly as surprise. The vote from the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee to put Obama’s Syrian resolution before the full Senate is essentially meaningless.    The subsequent vote amid the full Senate to support such a resolution is more politically valuable, but not terribly much.
The vote that counts, to authorize President Obama to use our military and attack Syria, will only come from the House of Representatives – The ‘People’s House’.

This has all the indicators of reaching the West Wing. Prior Democrats in Congress had espoused the IRS *should* take this approach. With such blatant admissions in 2010, and even 2011 after they lost the House they continued the approach, this is going to be VERY difficult for the administration to firewall.

House Speaker John A. Boehner said Wednesday that it’ll take more than firings to clear up the IRS scandal — it’ll take someone ending up serving jail time.

“My question is, who’s going to jail over this scandal?”  the Ohio Republican said at a press conference with Republicans Wednesday morning. (link)

First things first.   This does not need to be rushed – this should not be a “pass it to see what’s in it” bill.   This needs to be clearly and methodically, even painstakingly, a deliberative process.

As I see Team Obama requesting the “rushing it to a vote” I become even more suspicious of it….

Report #1 – Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) told Boston’s conservative radio host Howie Carr on Wednesday that the political momentum is starting to turn against the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill.  (Link)

Report #2 – President Obama said there is one thing he absolutely won’t compromise on in immigration reform: a pathway to citizenship [ie. “Amnesty”]   But as for what he would be willing to give up, he won’t say.  (link)

Report #3 – Just in case anyone is concerned that senators aren’t reading the 844-page immigration reform bill from the Group of Eight closely before returning from recess next week, note that Sen.
