(CNSNews.com) – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler announced on Thursday that he intends to expand Lifeline, popularly known as the “Obama Phone” program, to the Internet.
“I am circulating new proposals to “reboot” Lifeline for the Internet age,” Wheeler wrote in a blog post on the FCC’s Website. He said the reboot would include “establishing minimum standards of service for voice and broadband,” in addition to subsidies for low-income consumers.
Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides a monthly subsidy of $9.95 on telephone service for those at or below 135 percent of the poverty line so they can connect to the nation’s communications networks, find jobs, access health care services, connect with family and their children’s schools, and call for help in an emergency. It is always fascinating to research the ways liberals find legislative maneuvers to skirt around the realities of running out of money to pay for their various “social justice” causes.  A review of Baltimore Maryland education spending highlights their approach when they run out of other people’s money.

We say “other peoples money”, because we all know that liberals don’t spend their own money on these programs – instead they develop ways to “reach out” beyond their own economic roadblocks.
In Maryland there is a program called the Geographic Cost of Education Index or GCEI. A liberal legislative maneuver described thusly:

… a discretionary fund for school systems where educational costs are above the state average.

Removing the parseltongue you find the GCEI actually means a state budgetary funding trick to help pay for education within a community that has already exhausted its own ability to fund itself.
Expanding on the reality the GCEI also means: a state budgetary funding trick to pay for unsustainable union wages and benefits for educators within the school system that has exhausted its own ability to fund itself. (more…)

The DOJ filed their admission motion at midnight (Friday) in an attempt to hide the substance from media scrutiny

In November of 2014 when President Obama made his announcement of a sweeping “Immigration Executive Order”, his proposals included more than just deferred amnesty for illegal aliens, his proposal included “work authorization”.
Because the Presidential decree went beyond mere prosecutorial discretion regarding deportation of illegal aliens, the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) quickly modified the verbiage of the decree from “executive order” to “executive action”.

The executive action went beyond deportation discretion and included granting work authorization. That specific aspect is what immediately became the poison pill within the Obama action.
If all Obama was doing is “not deporting” people, ergo he’s using his executive authority of prosecutorial discretion, and that’s the claim of those who say this is constitutional; well, how or what part of ‘non-deportation’ includes granting “work/employment authorization”?
That specific aspect is where President Obama overreached and initiated an unconstitutional change in labor/employment law. That action clearly violated the separation of powers. That aspect is what also initiated a Federal Judge in Texas to issue an injunction to block implementation. (more…)

Least surprising announcement ever…

WASHINGTON DC – Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch has decided to launch a federal investigation into whether the Baltimore Police Department has engaged in a “pattern or practice” of excessive force.

Lynch’s announcement about the Justice Department’s probe — the latest in a string of municipalities that are being investigated by the federal government for civil rights violations — could come as early as Friday, according to two law enforcement officials.
A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment Thursday night. (more…)

In a city of 600,000 residents, that would be $3,000 per person.
(Via WFB) The city of Baltimore received over $1.8 billion from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law, including $467.1 million to invest in education and $26.5 million for crime prevention.

President Obama claimed last Tuesday that if the Republican-controlled Congress would implement his policies to make “massive investments in urban communities,” they could “make a difference right now” in the city, currently in upheaval following the death of Freddie Gray.
However, a Washington Free Beacon analysis found that the Obama administration and Democratically-controlled Congress did make a “massive” investment into Baltimore, appropriating $1,831,768,487 though the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), commonly known as the stimulus. (more…)

There is no “but” in any sentence about “free speech”.  It is, it exists, -or-, it is not, it does not exist.  It is that simple.

The fact that a simple event depicting pictures of Muhammad needs to spend $10,000 to hire security -IN AMERICA- should be the real story.  The fact that a simple event depicting pictures would be considered “controversial” -IN AMERICA- should be the sub line of the real story.  Alas, these simple considerations will be lost amid the “but” crowd.
“But”, free speech does not protect offensive speech – is another familiar, perhaps the most frequent, refrain from the “but” crowd.  Insufferably wrong.   The only speech that needs first amendment protection is “offensive speech”, if your speech wasn’t controversial or offensive it would not need protection. Democrats have controlled the City of Baltimore for Decades. The Mayor, Police, City Council, and all officials are liberal Democrats. The Maryland state legislature is under Democrat control; for the past eight years they had a Democrat Governor, and 6 out of 8 congressional districts are Democrat officials.
Yet, who do they blame for the problems in Baltimore? …..Wait for it…. why a Republican Governor who just won election at the beginning of this year of course.

The professional grievance crowd has all of the Marxist planets aligned.   They have the DNC approved black female mayor Stephanie Rawlings; they have their rock star activist attorney Marilyn Mosby, and they have a strategically planned opportunity to win by losing.

Black Lives Matter activist and State Attorney Marilyn Mosby has no intention of gaining victory in her charges against the Baltimore Six defendants, she doesn’t need to.  Indeed, I would argue the handlers within the larger BGI network don’t factually want her to succeed.
Every outside pundit, legal analyst and observer will note, if they have not already, the construct of her spoken, but not revealed, probable cause affidavit is fraught with flaws.  Some call it overcharging, some call it a stretch, others call it a tough case to prosecute.  However, what it really amounts to is an unwinnable trial.
And that’s exactly what this fiasco is intended to communicate.
You can’t force repairs upon a system that works.  “If you can’t change it, shut it down“.

Recent media stories within Baltimore are highlighting that many of the looter/rioters are being released without charges.
The Head Baltimore Prosecutor in charge of making those decisions is Marilyn Mosby.

Marilyn Mosby is Baltimore City’s newly elected State’s Attorney. She is the youngest chief prosecutor of any major city in America.
