Oh goodie, Pope Francis said he interpreted Morales’ gift through the prism of Espinal’s Marxist bent and viewed it as protest art.  I wonder if he’d be similarly accepting of “piss Christ“.

(Via The Guardian) Pope Francis has said he wasn’t offended by the “communist crucifix” given to him by Bolivian president Evo Morales during his South American pilgrimage.

Morales surprised the pontiff with the unusual gift, a crucifix attached to a hammer and sickle, when Francis arrived in La Paz on Wednesday.

The crucifix was a replica of one designed by a Jesuit priest, the Reverend Luís Espinal, who was tortured and killed by Bolivian paramilitary squads in 1980. Francis prayed at the site of Espinal’s assassination upon his arrival in Bolivia. (more…)

BOSTON – The Christopher Columbus statue in the North End was vandalized yesterday — with red paint dumped on its head and “Black Lives Matter” emblazoned on its base — in a defacing that left one local leader frustrated the cherished site was used for protest.

“For someone who was in the neighborhood, I certainly sympathize with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ discussions,” said state Rep. Aaron Michlewitz. “But, I think there’s a better way to get your point across than to vandalize public property — even with the complexities that surround Christopher Columbus’ history.”

Daunasia Yancey, founder and lead organizer at Black Lives Matter Boston, said her group wasn’t behind it, but “we fully support it.” (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – As President Obama announced that Cuba was restoring full diplomatic relations, reopening embassies in Washington and Havana after more than five decades, Cuba was once again demanding the U.S. return Guantanamo to the country.

“To achieve normalization [of diplomatic relations] it will be essential also that the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo Naval Base is returned,” read a declaration posted on Granma, the official organ of the Communist Party in the island.

The Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, home to Guantanamo Bay detention camp since 2012, is located on 45 square miles of a bay the U.S. leased for use as a coaling and naval station in 1903. (more…)

Jarrett’s dad, pathologist and geneticist Dr. James Bowman, had extensive ties to Communist associations and individuals, his lengthy FBI file shows. In 1950 Bowman was in communication with a paid Soviet agent named Alfred Stern, who fled to Prague after getting charged with espionage. Bowman was also a member of a Communist-sympathizing group called the Association of Internes and Medical Students. WASHINGTON DC – The Obama administration is expected to announce an agreement with Cuba in early July to reopen embassies and restore diplomatic relations severed more than five decades ago, U.S. sources familiar with the matter said on Friday.

The two sides hope to conclude the deal by the first week of next month, clearing the way for Secretary of State John Kerry to visit Havana soon afterwards for a flag-raising ceremony to upgrade the U.S. Interests Section to a full-scale embassy, the sources said. (more…)

(CNSNews.com) – The Trans-Pacific Partnership that President Barack Obama is negotiating with 11 other nations seeks to eliminate both tariff and nontariff trade barriers with these countries, according to the Congressional Research Service. One of those countries is Vietnam, which the State Department says maintains a Communist regime.
In 2014, the U.S. ran a $24,858,700,000 trade deficit with Vietnam, according to U.S. government trade data published by the Census Bureau. U.S. producers sold $5,724,900,000 in goods to purchasers in Vietnam. At the same time, producers in Vietnam sold $30,583,600,000 in goods to purchasers in the United States.
Documents related to the TPP are currently classified. Members of Congress can only review them in a secured room. But a report published in March by the Congressional Research Service—“The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Negotiations and Issues for Congress”–describes the basic purpose of the deal the administration is seeking. The professional grievance crowd has all of the Marxist planets aligned.   They have the DNC approved black female mayor Stephanie Rawlings; they have their rock star activist attorney Marilyn Mosby, and they have a strategically planned opportunity to win by losing.

Black Lives Matter activist and State Attorney Marilyn Mosby has no intention of gaining victory in her charges against the Baltimore Six defendants, she doesn’t need to.  Indeed, I would argue the handlers within the larger BGI network don’t factually want her to succeed.
Every outside pundit, legal analyst and observer will note, if they have not already, the construct of her spoken, but not revealed, probable cause affidavit is fraught with flaws.  Some call it overcharging, some call it a stretch, others call it a tough case to prosecute.  However, what it really amounts to is an unwinnable trial.
And that’s exactly what this fiasco is intended to communicate.
You can’t force repairs upon a system that works.  “If you can’t change it, shut it down“.
