NBC contributor Mike Barnicle explained on “Morning Joe” that the network won’t display the cartoons because “they are deemed to be offensive.” [pictured below fold]
Hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough both agreed with the network’s decision. “There are certain cartoons that are offensive — that have vulgar tinges to them — and I don’t see the need to show them to anybody,” Brezezinski said. “I really don’t.”
Front National Party (FNP) is quite a bit more “nationalist” than what UKIP is to the United Kingdom, or the Tea Party to the USA. However, FNP candidates won the last election cycle, carry 25% of parliament and the Socialist French President, Francois Hollande, carries only a 15-20% job approval rating. The refusal to allow Nationalist participation is yet another example of how ideological the Fabian Socialist’s are when it comes to the will of the people. Both Hollande and U.S. President Obama carry the same disposition toward their political opponents.
[…] Earlier, Le Pen had told reporters that she trusted the government would have the wisdom to invite “the representatives of a party that polled 25% of the vote in the last election”, referring to last year’s European polls, in which the FN came first amid record-low turnout.
The question of whether to invite France’s far right presents a dilemma for Hollande’s Socialist government, which is traditionally averse to any dealings with a party it deems “un-republican”.
Latest news, per The Washington Examiner:
French police said Friday they have successfully concluded the two hostage situations following the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
The first incident Friday, in Dammartin-En-Goele near the Charles de Gaulle airport outside of Paris, concluded with the killing of the two Charlie Hebdo suspects, according to Le Monde newspaper.
The two brothers — Cherif and Said Kouachi — were cornered inside a printing house after taking a hostage, police sources said. They also told negotiators they “want to die as martyrs,” according to the New York Times. (more…)
In an appearance to promote the upcoming season of his HBO talk show, liberal commentator Bill Maher slammed politically-correct liberals for not truly standing up for free speech in the aftermath of the attack on the Charlie Hebdo offices. Maher referred to the aforementioned liberals as a “pussy nation,” adding that they must stand up for their principles.
[…] Maher made his comments to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show Wednesday night. “This was really big shit,” Maher said. “And we have to not avoid who did this.” “Well, we presume…” Kimmel said before Maher cut him off. Watch:
…”While some Muslims today object to any depiction of the Prophet, others do not. Moreover, visual representations of him are not proscribed by the Koran. What unites Muslims in their anger against Charlie Hebdo is the vulgar manner in which Muhammad has been portrayed. What they object to is being intentionally insulted over the course of many years. On this aspect, I am in total agreement with them.
Stephane Charbonnier, the paper’s publisher, was killed today in the slaughter. It is too bad that he didn’t understand the role he played in his tragic death. In 2012, when asked why he insults Muslims, he said, “Muhammad isn’t sacred to me.” Had he not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive. Muhammad isn’t sacred to me, either, but it would never occur to me to deliberately insult Muslims by trashing him”…
Let it not be said that Islamists have the market cornered on moonbat religious idiocy. Whereas earlier we shared MSNBC equivocating lawsuits with murderous slaughter, similarly Catholic League President Bill Donohue essentially says, yeah, well those horrible cartoonists deserved it; they had it coming; they asked for it…. (Via TR) Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League, decried the violence of the Charlie Hebdo massacre on his organization’s website, but contended the French satirical magazine brought the attack on itself by publishing offensive cartoons. Donohue started by saying that the killing, “must be unequivocally condemned” but “neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction.”
“Those who work at this newspaper have a long and disgusting record of going way beyond the mere lampooning of public figures, and this is especially true of their depictions of religious figures. For example, they have shown nuns masturbating and popes wearing condoms. They have also shown Muhammad in pornographic poses.(more…)
