Once upon a troll …..

Concern Troll … the scourge of every blogger who has a comments section.

What is “trolling” ?

informal

submit a deliberately provocative posting to an online message board with the aim of inciting an angry response.

“if people are obviously trolling then I’ll delete your posts and do my best to ban you”

https://www.google.com/#q=what+is+the+definition+of+trolling

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtrl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29

We have found that it is impossible to rehabilitate trolls.  They will often write nasty e-mails, demanding to have their commenting privileges returned; try posting again under different ip addresses, e-mail accounts or nicknames and several other methods of attempting to work around the ban.

One thing is certain, though – they can’t help themselves and soon enough, if allowed to return, revert to type.  They enjoy causing discord, they get a rush from “getting a rise” out of either another specific commenter or the Admins, and they enjoy trying to control the commentary and deciding what is “acceptable” discourse.  It is a childish game of control and manipulation.

Trolling also tends to lead to threadjacking – getting a serious discussion deliberately off-track and away from any meaningful debate.  Trolling and threadjacking are some of the online tools used by OFA paid operatives to disrupt productive discussions on Tea Party and Conservative sites that talk about how to organize existing members and reach out to other like-minded people.

Fists & Boots: … Brawls over Air Jordans break out nation wide

H/t to Zerohedge.
According to those who track actual statistics, and not those produced by the Orwellian Bureau of Labor and Statistics (aka Bureau of Lies), “real” unemployment remains at about 20%.  We are at the tipping point where more people are collecting some type of government “aid” than are working a traditional full-time job with benefits.
It is against this backdrop that brawls broke out across the nation over the release of retro Air Jordan sneakers – at $185 a pop.  If this is the automatic response to denial to a crass commercial product, think about what will happen when the pipeline for automatic payments dries up.

There is another video embedded in the Zero Hedge piece.  There was a similar brawl at the Fair Oaks mall in Fairfax County, Virginia, which compelled non-Air-Jordan seekers to flee the mall entirely.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck.

Dear A&E, Congratulations, You Just Committed Suicide

A well written rebuttal by blogger Matt Walsh to the not-so-Glaad people, (thanks to a tip by Treeper DR)

Happy – Happy – Happy Phil Robertson has always been his own man.

Dear A&E,
I read that you are indefinitely suspending Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty after he quoted the Bible and said that the homosexual act is sinful. I get it, guys. I do. You punished the Christian guy for being a Christian because you got some angry emails from a bunch of whiny gay activists who lack the spine and maturity to deal with the fact that there are still people out there who have the guts to articulate opinions that they find disagreeable. In so doing, you’ve kowtowed to a pushy minority of vocal bullies who don’t even watch your channel, while alienating the fan base of the one show that keeps your entire network afloat.
Makes sense.

The Mitch is back…. Back against the Wall

Crustless Cucumber Sandwich & Cocktail Country Club Republicans demand Mitch stop the Tea Party tide, for fear their cozy pipeline to Government goodies gets swept out to sea.

The chatter amongst the Inside-the-Beltway C&CCS* set is the recent flare up in the barely simmering ideological flame war between the Establishment “Main Street Republican” Decepticons and grassroots Tea Party activists leading into the 2014 election cycle for the very soul and future direction of “Conservatism” in America.
In addition to not-so-subtle chats with martial industry lobbyists, at a fundraiser held in early November McConnell personally demanded Defense contractors pony up to stop the Tea Party assault or face a defense contract spending drought in the next Congress.
Defense Contractor BAE systems announcing the timely “cost saving” movement of a submarine contract to electorally floundering McConnell’s Louisville, KY district

Sources close to the discussions state McConnell is looking for deep pockets to fund his “one issue” campaign to “teach” those who seek to primary “approved” Establishment Republicans a “lesson” as some type of ill conceived anodynic salve that will simultaneously heal the internecine rupture and rally the troops while affirmatively castigating the wayward “wild eyed” Tea Party patriots and extinguishing any lingering questions about his impoverished ability to lead fence sitting middle America into rallying behind a resurgent majority Republican Congress. Overall support from the defense industries has tapered significantly since the 2008 cycle, and McConnell is demanding they open the spigot – wide.
Mitch needs cash. Lots and lots of cash!

Silence IS Consent …. Prog Media once again "blackwashes" murder, declines full coverage

25 year old 2nd Lt Paul deWolf, USAF, third year medical student and active duty officer on an Air Force scholarship at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor,  was murdered by three black thugs during a home invasion robbery of his residence, an off campus fraternity house he shared with other medical students.

DeWolf was asleep in his own domicile – a bedroom in the basement of the Phi Ro Sigma fraternity house – when he was startled awake by the noise the intruders were creating during their return to the residence after previously stealing and removing a PlayStation 3 game system.  At a hearing held this week, it was revealed by Ann Arbor police that the still unnamed alleged trigger puller currently jailed in Michigan on a bond violation in a different case, had not yet been charged with deWolf’s murder. Obamacare debacle harasses small business owners in NYC

The New York Post reports:
Thanks to ObamaCare, New Yorkers can now get health insurance with rainbow sprinkles.
In yet another bungle for the botched government insurance rollout, the state Health Department has mistakenly listed numerous non-health-related business as enrollment sites — including a Brooklyn cupcake shop that has been besieged by callers.
“I have nothing to do with this,” said Carmen Rodriguez owner of Brooklyn Cupcake in Williamsburg. “I run a very busy establishment, and I’m like, what is going on?”
“There has to be somebody who can help with ObamaCare; that’s their own mess,” she said.

CreepyObamaCupcakes

New Yorkers shopping for medical coverage under ObamaCare are being directed by the state’s health-exchange Web site to 288 locations where so-called navigators can offer personal assistance.
They are reaching places such as Rodriguez’s shop because the erroneous listings contain the businesses’ accurate addresses, phone numbers and even languages spoken.
The cupcake maker is at her wit’s end.

Prog meltdown: Harry Reid proclaims "Anarchists have taken over the House"

h/t Liberty Blitzkreig Blog/ZeroHedge
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid exhibited shameless self-serving grandstanding in a speech fraught with heavy handed hyperbole on the floor of an empty Congress September 12th, declaring that “Anarchists” had taken over the House because of the refusal of some conservative leaning Republican members of Congress to go along with the Prog agenda.
Reid further tips his hand and acknowledges that the recent uptick in citizen pushback is of concern to the Fabians, stating “people who don’t believe in the government, and that’s what the Tea Party is all about, are winning …. and that’s a shame”.

Rather than acknowledging the widespread dissatisfaction with the Obama administration’s trend towards imperalistic style governance, Reid and other like-minded liberals now blame the growing grassroots opposition to the multi-pronged progressive agenda as “anarchy”.  I guess “anarchy” and political opposition is only acceptable when it is well-funded, professionally managed and presents the optics that the Fabians find helpful.
The team at ZeroHedge posted the  libertarian  Mises’ primer on Anarchy for the unskooled.  Reid clearly needs to get out more and widen his horizons.

Presstitutes circle the Wagons: Daily Caller Intern asks where the Emperor's clothes are

Gabe Finger, an intern at the Daily Caller was sent to the WH press briefing today.  In a polite, respectful tone, the young man (who states his age is 16) asked for comment on the safety and security of George Zimmerman and his family:
“Because of the death threats being received by George Zimmerman and his parents, is the President going to take any action for his security, or are they on their own?”
The gathered corporate Liberal media laughed, dismissing the young man.  It only became an issue when others outside the Beltway Bubble began praising the young man for asking the question that speaks to the manufactured cultural divide on this issue that emanated from the White House itself, that the fauxrage machine got activated and they felt the need to circle the wagons and excoriate this young man and the Daily Caller for “disrepecting” the White House by sending an intern to cover the daily Kabuki theatre that is now Jay Carney’s Press Briefing Room.

Watch and decide for yourself:  Is Gabe Finger “disrespectful” and asking a “ridiculous” question?  Oh – by the way – you can follow this young man on twitter

Hey Gabe, you might want to flesh out the “biography” link on the Daily Caller webpage – know what I’m sayin’ ?
WASHINGTONWhite House Press Secretary Jay Carney dismissed a question Wednesday regarding the safety of George Zimmerman and his parents as “ridiculous.”
Asked by The Daily Caller during the daily press briefing whether the president intends to take any action to protect the Zimmermans — in light of the many death threats the family has received — Carney laughed and said, “Well, I think I would refer you to Florida authorities. I’m not aware of that story. But, you know, the president has called for echoing the statements of Trayvon Martin’s family — for calm and reflection in the wake of the verdict. And that continues to be his position. He certainly would oppose any violence.”

Decorum: A Gentle Reader's Guide to being a Good Guest

decorumpractical00ruthrich_0011

At some level, it bothers me intensely that this post is even necessary.  It speaks volumes about the fraying of the seams of civility and decorum which kept our tiny community bound together.

Many moons ago, a group of ragtag conservatives found each other and wandered through the wilds of the internet, going from home to home, in a sort of philosophical exile.
