President Donald Trump and Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin held a one-hour phone call today, discussing the latest round of negotiations between U.S. Emissaries Steve Witkoff, Jared Kusher and their Russian counterparts.
Obviously, for us at CTH it makes no sense to read manipulative U.S. media reports of the Russian perspective on the phone call, when we can just read the Russian readout for ourselves. You deserve better. So, here it is:
[PRESS RELEASE] – Aide to the President Yury Ushakov: President Vladimir Putin had another telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. In their customary respectful and business-like manner, the leaders exchanged opinions on the trips made by US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kiev on September 5–6.
The telephone conversation lasted exactly one hour. It was constructive and quite frank. As you understand, the conversation itself is confidential, so I am not at liberty to share with you many important details and nuances.
The outcome of the visit by said US representatives was assessed as positive. The work through this channel and some others will continue.
Clearly, the conversation centered on Ukrainian settlement. Donald Trump directly communicated the desirability of bringing the conflict to an end as soon as possible, as it would immediately open up prospects – impressive and far-reaching ones at that – for the full restoration of relations between the U.S. and Russia. In his view, this would have a particular impact on trade and economic ties, promising huge benefits for both nations. Donald Trump is keen to see a breakthrough achieved during his presidency.
President Putin supported this approach in the context of potentially building a constructive partnership between the two great powers and praised the mediation efforts by the US and Donald Trump personally with respect to finding solutions to the Ukrainian conflict. An objective and extensive analysis of the current developments in the special military operation was provided, along with our vision of the overall progress on the battlefield and achieving the goals and objectives of the special military operation. Speaking of which, actual tangible actions that the Americans could take to expedite the cessation of the hostilities were outlined.
In view of the speculations regarding Russia’s alleged hostile intentions against European states, it was stressed that no aggressive plans against Europe have ever entered our minds. The circulated myths about the Russian threat serve as a pretext for Europeans to ramp up their support for Ukraine and their own military expenses.
Notably, during the telephone conversation, the leaders agreed to continue the work on resolving humanitarian issues, including detainee and prisoner exchanges. Our President noted the efforts made by US First Lady Melania regarding the return of both Russian and Ukrainian children to their families.
Overall, colleagues, I will reiterate that the conversation proceeded in an upbeat tone. The presidents agreed to stay in touch and speak to each other by phone if the need arose.

I very much stand by my prior outlines on the best interests of the U.S. as it pertains to the strategic intention of President Trump. CTH is confident we have this analysis nailed {GO DEEP}.
It would of course be absolutely terrifying for the EU/NATO warmongers if Russia and the United States ever had normal diplomatic and business relations. Their entire strategy for eighty years has centered around “the great Russian Bear, poised to attack and consume all of Europe.” Which is, of course, precisely why(?) they have moved their armed forces directly to Russia’s borders on every side they can reach.
If Trump and Putin are “the grown-ups in the room,” this is especially damaging to the warmongers, because they expect the United States to fight their war for them while, as usual, they sit back and watch.
To them, eighty years of peace is far too long an interval between “Chapter Two” and “Chapter Three.” They’ve never forgotten their “Operation Unthinkable” plans to conquer Russia, but they did forget absolutely everything else. Russia, however, has not. And this one fact might be our very best hope for peace. Russia will never allow its people to forget what war is, and what it costs. Because, it once cost them everything.

I wonder whether the continuing investigation of Ukrainian corruption is forcing Zelenskyy to agree to the deal. Almost everyone around him has already been implicated. Could he be next if he stands in the way?
Re #2: Cut off US funding to Ukraine.
That and all intelligence support. I believe Putin would very much like to partner with the U.S. in many economic areas, but only after the Ukraine war ends under the terms Putin set out in 2024. President Trump’s help to make that happen is what Putin wants. The big question is, what is our President willing to do.
Be funny if Trump said: “I was talking with Putin and he said if Ukraine held elections he’d pull all troops out of Ukraine” that would probably be a bridge too far for Dictator Z.

A trade deal would bring in other allies from industry (mining, petroleum, forestry, agriculture, civil aviation, etc.) as a counter to the perpetual war lobby. This could help cement a long-term deal. PDJT is looking at constructing something novel. Burnham, Metz, and the other seven dwarfs have no vision.
