Put this in the USMCA (CUSMA) elimination/negotiation file. Europe has already been the visible example of what happens when you open your market to low price Chinese EVs.
With the recent agreement by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Chinese auto manufacturers are now rushing to establish the dealerships, before the Beijing-Canada deal becomes an issue in the USMCA negotiation.
China is NOT going into Canada because they foresee a great market of Snow Mexicans purchasing their low price EVs. They are going into Canada as a proactive measure to establish a North American footprint with an eye toward the USA.
(VIA MSM) – BYD and Chery are accelerating plans to establish a dealership network in Canada after the country introduced a quota allowing tens of thousands of Chinese-made EVs to enter at reduced tariffs. The rollout will begin in Toronto before expanding to other major cities, with BYD targeting about 20 dealerships in its first year. This marks a significant new front in North American EV competition, as Chinese automakers seek growth outside the U.S., where prohibitive tariffs keep them out.
Canada’s updated trade policy allows 24,500 Chinese-made EVs annually at a reduced 6.1% duty, giving BYD and Chery a rare North American entry point. This follows China’s surge to become the world’s top vehicle exporter, with similar pushes into Mexico, Europe, and Latin America. The quota’s scale is modest but strategically valuable for testing market response and building brand awareness.
The companies will launch in Toronto before moving into Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. BYD aims for around 20 dealerships in its first year, using consultants and internal teams to secure prime sites. While the network could strengthen visibility in key urban markets, experts warn the quota’s limited volume may test the viability of multiple outlets.
With U.S. tariffs exceeding 100% effectively barring entry, Canada offers Chinese automakers a platform to establish presence, gauge consumer interest, and potentially influence future trade talks. Similar strategies have been used in Europe, where Chinese EV makers have gained ground despite strong local competition. Success in Canada could pave the way for local assembly or increased quotas. Carney really looks openly gay in that photo while Xi Jinping looks like a closeted gay.
I can’t tell if someone is gay by looking at them, but I know predators and prey when I see them.
He’s got a trans child.
We all need to fax call our Senators and Senate Leader John Thune
John Thune Number Phone: (202) 224-2321, Fax: (202) 228-5429, Toll-Free:
We The American People are not stupid, We know What your doing!
reconciliation is strictly limited to budgetary matters under Senate rules. Policy-heavy legislation, like the SAVE America Act, faces near-certain rejection under the Byrd Rule, which allows the Senate parliamentarian to strip out provisions deemed unrelated to federal spending or revenue.
You go ahead and do this and you will have to face the consequences of trying to fool The American Public.
they don’t care, really,,,we are just the stupid little people, our senators kaine and warner tell us so
My 2009 GMC Sierra 4X4 has 231000 miles on it ! Same motor , newer transmission but it still hauls me and my dog to the grocery store and dog park! And it’s excellent in the snow! Knocking on wood here!
It has already been shown, EV cars don’t work well or not at all in cold weather. The chinese are making a massive dump to fck up the car market here folks.
Well. I’m glad my truck isn’t an Ev
I drove my Toyota Echo for 25-years and nearly 300,000 miles. You won’t get that kind of life out of an electric vehicle. Only reason I’m not still driving it is because some kid rear-ended me.
In the 1980’s, Linda, a co-worker of mine was just crazy about Tom Selleck and her birthday was coming up. I thought it would be really neat if I could get the little drug store I patronized to part with their life-size cardboard ad with Tom Selleck touting a man’s cologne – Chaz – by Revlon around 1979 (I remembered seeing him back that far, I think).
I had been seeing Tom Selleck in the drug store for a while before he finally hit it big with “Magnum PI”. He even seemed to have gotten slightly aged from the afternoon sun that would come in where he stood . . . but he was always cheerful and after I had found out who he was I would say “hi, Tom” as I would pass by on my way to buy 10-06 lotion or cotton puffs.
I thought I could possibly buy the cardboard statue, take it off their hands and they would part with it readily. I see on Wikipedia that Tom Selleck is actually 6′ 4″ so maybe it was not really life-size as I was usually in 3″ heels which would then be 5’9″ and he did not seem terribly so tall when I would dash into that drug store and see him standing there . . . but he still looked pretty good!
The drug store lady had to regretfully decline my offer to buy the cardboard statue of Tom Selleck; they were not allowed to sell those. I asked her if she would let me know if that policy ever changed. Meanwhile, I had to give up my neat idea to have Tom Selleck standing there by Linda’s CRT (Cathode Ray Tube – that’s what they called the computers at the desks) and a coffee with a croissant from around the corner when she came into work on her birthday.
What has all this got to do with Xi – well, darn it, it does, because he actually looks like a cardboard statue in every photo I see of him, standing there shaking hands with someone, the exact same expression on his face! It’s a sort of concentrated attempt at looking happy but not actually THERE; he is sort of looking into outer space in a different direction, not at the person with whom he is shaking hands, does he have an astigmatism? I challenge you to Google any number of photos of Xi and tell me he is not wearing the exact same expression.
At least Tom Selleck always looked like he was glad to see me!
You’re right Suejeanne.
Xi always appears emotionless and expressionless as a cardboard cut out.
I read his presentation as condescending toward his prey before he eats their lunch and then devours what’s left of them. Carney being the latest “meal”.
The Iranian regime uses an actual cardboard cutout of their current (temporary) Supreme Leader. It must be a fad.🤔
I won’t drive a car I don’t know how to pronounce.
Is BYD prounoinced “BID”? Is Gely pronounced “Jelly”?
I will not be driving a Bid or a Jelly!
It’s quite simple. BYD is 比亚迪, Bǐyàdí, full name: 比亚迪股份有限公司, Bǐyàdí Gǔfēn Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī.
Geely is 吉利, Jílì, full name: 浙江吉利控股集团有限公司, Zhèjiāng Jílì Kònggǔ Jítuán Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī.
You can also buy a Volvo or Polestar, which are 100% Geely, or a Belgee, a joint venture between Geely and БелАЗ, Белорусский автомобильный завод, Belorusskiy avtomobilnyy zavod, BelAZ.

In other words, …… “See the USA in your POS!”
Now that’s a sales jingle!!
A friend had a Tesla it would go into limp mode, he would be along side the highway on the phone with tech support waiting for an update so the pos would move. One of the special times the highway patrol was calling a tow truck as the update came in.
Can’t image have to get the update from Chyna, these things roam the streets collecting and sending all the info back to home base.
They are battery driven cars and the Chinese batteries catch fire frequently.
Yes, thank you!
That clarifies the actual name and pronunciation of the vehicles, although I will not be driving either one.
One thing would concern me. If these manufacturers were to Americanize the names for the US consumer it would make it seem more palatable to the public and many would not question their true origin. Many folks are identity driven. Pun intended.
You spell it out, like ‘BMW’. Or for convenience “evil”
Carney, son of Maurice Strong.
Geely owns Volvo. I don’t know if they are involved here but it’s only a matter of time before other Geely products show up.
I noted several posts about how Carney is stupid, dumb etc. Based on my research I would say what makes him so dangerous is that he is very smart. He’s been able to do way more damage to Canada in one year than Justine the drama teacher did in ten.
To me, Mark is the ultimate WEF puppet psycho-lizard green (pretend) zealot Satanist. He is truly evil and ruthlessly focused on becoming a billionaire at any cost.
He has a trans child who attended the Tavistock Institute in London. His brother is Estate Manager for William and Kate in London. His wife is an accomplished handler known to associate with the likes of Ghislaine Maxwell as well as holding various positions on WEF-aligned global bodies.
He’s carried out his masters’ bidding as Governor of the Bank of Canada, then Governor of the Bank of England, followed by a spell leading the Brookfield empire, and now this role which he secured by leveraging Canadians near-universal TDS.
He’s been an ally and advocate of the CCP for all of that time. And their active business partner during his time leading Brookfield. He stands to make tens if not hundreds of millions from Brookfield’s future success.
Every single thing he does is to increase his personal wealth while executing the WEF agenda.
In the context of EVs, Brookfield is invested in every aspect of their manufacturing and supply chain, as well as power generation and delivery and the Carbon Credits associated with compliance.
Underestimate him at your peril!
^^^^ this
Carney’s brother “is Estate Manager for William and Kate in London.”
Notice how much goes back to the vicinity of the “British” royals?
Notice how much rotteness swirls around them?
It has been just this month, I no longer think of England as “The Mother Country”. Historically, yes, England started the Colonies. Once upon a time, they gave us a language, The Anglo-Saxon Common Law, a parliamentary system, other good things.
But that was a different people. A different time.
England is now dead, suicided by its rulers.
We are strictly American, now.
Forget that stuff about “my ancestors came from _____________”. That is relegated to historical footnotes.
Completely agree!
Thank you for laying out the stunning and unnerving connections and alliances of Mark Carney.
It’s apparent then that he’s serving Canada up as the latest hot meal for the communist CCP to gobble up with full knowledge and clear intent.
I’m sad and sorry for the brainwashed neutered Canucks and for Americans who were once friends and allies of tge good ole boys to the north.
I also infer the British royal family are not on our side either. They probably never were.
👍 🎯 They never were. Nor were they “in charge”, at least in recent times.
The rebranding of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to House of Windsor to keep the serfs onside during WWI provides a clue. 😉 Talk about aura farming!
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Moscow, September 25, 2024
https://www.mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/1971297/
In Europe, Russia is leading the way. In Tula, there is a new Great Wall (长城) factory with an annual production capacity of 150,000 cars. The former Renault plant in Moscow has been converted to produce Chinese cars (Dongfeng, 东风) under the Moskvich brand. Many other Chinese car brands are imported into Russia.
Belgee in Belarus and Volvo and Polestar in Sweden manufacture special Geely (吉利) models for the European market. In Hungary, a BYD (比亚迪) factory is being built, which is expected to produce up to 300,000 cars per year. In the UK, on the other hand, Indian Tata cars are produced under the Land Rover and Jaguar brands.
The European auto industry is lagging behind and struggling with quality issues and excessively high prices. Cars are increasingly difficult to sell. If Europe wants to maintain auto production, the only real option is to produce Chinese (or Indian) car models under European brands.
Canada is a European colony under the rule of His Majesty Charles III, but since CETA (the free trade agreement), it has been governed more by Brussels. As a result, Canada faces the same problems as the EU. For Xi Jinping, it serves as an interesting prototype for China’s future takeover of European industry.
All China has to do is establish themselves and the next Democrat president will allow the Chinese EV’s from Canada in to the USA because of climate change.
Electric vehicles suck in cold weather. I had one, loved the pick up and features. In cold weather you get about 60% of what you get in normal weather. I can’t imagine Chinese batteries are superior to Volvo/Polestar, Tesla and the like. Probably won’t get 100 miles out of one of their cheap cars in cold weather without recharging. This move is not practical for any other reason than eyes on the US.
Volvo is now owned by China, and my understanding is that the batteries in a Volvo are just as dangerous as the batteries in the rest of China’s EV’s – they have a bad habit of spontaneously catching fire.
Given Canada’s cold weather, is it even possible to drive an EV and stay warm at the same time?
Why yes. Once you puncture the battery they warm up nicely.
Seriously, I saw a Cybertruck at the coffee shop the other day. I feigned interest and the owner told me one of the great things is the fast warmup of the interior. I asked about range and he said it drops linearly with external temperature. By up to 40% !
In closing I ventured that as it’s also bullet-proof he’d be fine if he ever needed to go to Toronto. Fun times…
Snow Mexicans?
As an Albertan, I assure you the preferred slurs are Snowbillies or Ice Backs.
Mexico is, in many ways, going in a better direction than Canaduh.
Very sad.
I remember Canada of pre-1990. The slice I knew was Alberta. Majestic lands. People a combo of tough and polite.
I have no pleasure in realizing the “Five Eyes” nations have rulers selling us to a CCP gulag.
If we did not have PDJT, then a giggly, promiscuous puppet named “Kamala” would giggle and burp up word salad as she did sell-outs even worse than Carney.
Globally, It is only MAGA and some similar national movements in other nations that are on the freedom side of politics.
BTW.
How does one say “gulag” in Mandarin?
Bluenoser here… I always preferred Frostbackistanian, but I did also steal that from a minty hillbilly from out in Alberta.
I’m visualizing Canada swirling down the toilet bowl of life.
I hope the Western provinces manage to gain their independence.
This is proof that one can eat Chili con Carney with chopsticks?
Step right up folks, the show is about to begin. Carney Barker is selling front row tickets.
As a mechanical design engineer I have a truth to spread: It is not hard to make an EV. The barriers to entry for the mfg of conventional IC vehicles is the internal combustion engine and transmission – a reliable high power, high efficiency IC is not trivial to design or mfg (look at Mini – their BMW designed engines are hideously unreliable). CCP China has proven in their domestic market that China cannot make a reliable IC engine, no matter how much IP they steal. However, a reliable electric motor and a battery are NOT hard to design or manufacture, so even Canada could have multiple homegrown EV car companies if they chose to. This is deliberate effort by the globalists to facilitate communist China’s attempt to dominate global EV mfg, even though there is ZERO reason for Chinese EV’s to be better, or cheaper than homegrown versions.
Instead of protectionism, maybe American industry can, y’know, try competing with foreign producers.
Even if that means the autoworkers have to be paid what they’re actually worth, instead of at inflated union wages.
This isn’t 1960. Americans need to realize that they now have a third world country, and they need to live as third worlders do until they get their butts up and start producing wealth again, as opposed to pissing it away on fritters.
Removing all the actual third worlders would also help a lot.
