Sure, you can create a party. Since states (meaning legislatures) control what parties are allowed on a ballot, creating a party does nothing. You need to get on ballots. Typically that means you have to qualify to be in a primary election. That usually means some sort of party infrastructure. Some states require state-run elections for party officers. So that might mean a two-step process.
Presidential elections are held under different rules, as you are voting for “electors”. That makes it a bit easier to get a “third” party President candidate on a November ballot.
30 states require voters to register to vote and designate a party. So again you need a party-in-being before you can register voters.

There was a time, it’s true, when there was little difference between the parties. All were basically liberal humanitarians who thought this or that would be better for the country and themselves. In which case going along to get along worked. But that was before the Democrats were cannibalized by true evil, and they ultimately became members of a death cult and useful idiots in some kind of demonic mission.
I don’t think many Republicans have been so captured, and yet they still seem blind to the nature of the war they are in and the need for courage and urgency if they and we are to be saved from much more severe chastisement. I think that’s probably mostly attributable to a combination of cowardice and complacency, as well as garden variety corruption. In other words, I think they mostly know not what they do.

John Thune doesn’t appear to have his ducks in a row or, for some other reason, can’t bring himself to prod other US Senators to get behind this act. I think Thune has forgotten or lost his way when it comes to the majority of the good people who strongly support passage of this Act. The other Senator from SD is Mike Rounds who is a co-sponsor of the SAVE Act.. I mentioned Mike Rounds because he hasn’t been in DC so long as to forget his roots lie in SD. John Thune will probably be like Daschle in that he’ll stay in the DC area. Bet he won’t move back to Murdo where he was raised! So, SD conservatives have a couple of years to find a good candidate to primary Thune out. Bless your heart John!

Let’s talk some about “minoriity voter intimidation”. Witnessed it first hand, when I
lived in the hood. This was JUST PRIOR to McKinney’s meltdown. Went to vote in the
primary in my roughly 85% black neighborhood. Voted dem back then, but was surprised
and mortified to see that there were actually voting machines that were identified by
party affliation.
One wall, 3 machines identified as “Republican”. The rest of the poll place had about
7 machines identified as “Democrat”. This was in a compact neighborhood with many,
many, many long time residents. Everyone knew everyone else. Everyone also knew that
any black resident that didn’t vote democrat was portrayed as, basically, a race traitor.
The sheer intimidation of crossing in front of all your friends and neighbors and daring
to vote Republican in a primary was probably more then the majority of my neighbors
were willing to deal with. PS: My white neighbors all bitched about the ghetto renters, but
not a single one of them would have EVER considered voting for a Republican.
They were club – slinging Black Panthers intimidating voters outside a voting location in Philadelphia. The Lightbringer’s wingman (Eric Holder) refused to bring federal charges against them.

I think Schumer did want to abolish the filibuster (not just smoke anyone out). Sinema and Manchin blocked it. Neither are elected officials anymore. Dems will pass it eventually.
You cannot hate re Republican party enough – they should be called the “stab in the back” party. I’m afraid Ronald Regan was wrong – 40 yrs later it is apparent you cannot fix the party. We need a new one – a real America First party.
I listened to an explanation that to approve the ‘standing filibuster’, or in plainer terms a true filibuster as I recall from my youth (the 70s), this would give the Democrats control of the floor, and risk an ‘endless’ string of amendments etc. intended to embarrass Republicans. Well, sorry, but you have given the Democrats functional control of the floor, since Trump has threatened to not sign anything until this is voted. Time for the RINOs to be called in and told they will lose MAGA support, entirely, if they cannot join with the rest and vote this. That will not happen, of course, because the Senate is fully invested in doing nothing more difficult than naming things and passing larger budgets.. And they have been for some time. We are doomed by these RINOs.
Not sure what “functional control of the floor” means, but I guess a majority vote could object to the motion to adjourn (non-debatable) , forcing the Senate to recess and continue the “legislative day”, allowing two speeches per Senator of unlimited length per “question”. The subsidiary motion to amend amounts to a new “question”, restarting the “two speech” clock.
So you keep coming back to the need for 60 votes on a cloture motion. Unless you decide to go for the “nuclear option” (a way to amend the rules by majority vote without a 2/3rds vote to suspend the rules on cloture).
Cornyn now wants to end the filibuster to pass the SAVE America bill.
Unless you get it passed….these op-eds mean nothing.

A lot of the hold outs are from SMALL states geographically far away from the frontline Border states that are most affected by illegals from their Treasury-draining costs and taxes as well as their crimes and degradation of the public spaces and cultures. JD Vance is the President of the Senate. He can take the chair. The chair can rule on parliamentary questions or questions of order. A ruling of the chair can be appealed to the whole Senate. If the ruling is on a debatable matter, the appeal is debatable. A majority vote is required to uphold the ruling of the chair.
