The Associated Press is shocked, shocked, to discover that Customs and Border Protection has expanded their surveillance network beyond the “100 miles inland from every border” as authorized in the Patriot Act.
Worse yet is their stunned research showing license plate readers (APLR’s) are being connected to various other public and private sector mechanisms to identify travel patterns of U.S. citizens and collate them to facial recognition software applications.
Both the AP and CBS begin reporting on this domestic surveillance system as something quite new, it’s not. We have previously outlined the construct as it was assembled HERE and HERE and HERE.
This is the part of the performance where past and present DC officials, including many that you personally support (Nunes), say the risk is now too great to worry about the 4th Amendment. With borders unsecured by Obama and Biden, there is now no way to mitigate the risk from criminal aliens against the concern with privacy and the 4th Amendment.
In the bigger picture, this is why DC justifies extending FISA-702 reauthorization now. The argument says, ‘If we do not support and create the surveillance state, we cannot capture and remove all the criminal aliens.’
WASHINGTON DC – The U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring millions of American drivers nationwide in a secretive program to identify and detain people whose travel patterns it deems suspicious, The Associated Press has found.
The Border Patrol’s predictive intelligence program has resulted in people being stopped, searched and in some cases arrested.
[…] The Border Patrol has recently grown even more powerful through collaborations with other agencies, drawing information from license plate readers nationwide run by the Drug Enforcement Administration, private companies and, increasingly, local law enforcement programs funded through federal grants. Texas law enforcement agencies have asked the Border Patrol to use facial recognition to identify drivers, documents show.
This active role beyond the borders is part of the quiet transformation of its parent agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, into something more akin to a domestic intelligence operation. Under the Trump administration’s heightened immigration enforcement efforts, CBP is now poised to get more than $2.7 billion to build out border surveillance systems such as the license plate reader program by layering in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. The entire article is actually good; it’s just frustrating and annoying to see media pretending they didn’t know about this stuff until Trump.
CTH has been writing about this surveillance issue for well over a decade. The introduction of Palantir facial recognition, to the overall database of social media information and private identity information, now makes it very easy for the government to simply point a camera at your face and get every scintilla of information about us.
Almost all of the privacy advocates have given up trying to resist the outcome. However, I am not one of them. All it will take is a small mistake in the AI development programming, and people will see quickly just how dangerous this is.

“All it will take is a small mistake in the AI development programming, and people will see quickly just how dangerous this is.”
I can see the less dangerous common mistakes happening already due in part to humanoids faithfully following their “data masters”.
Over the past 6 months 8 different times I had to open my front door and yell out to a delivery person “I didn’t order anything!” while they were getting out of their vehicle and I would point to the numbers on my house.
The “hype” hasn’t passed by yet, but plenty of data scientists are already sounding the alarm. The social implications are recognized to be profoundly damaging.
“The Media” just wants to sell hardware while they can. The profession knows better. Better wise up fast: it’s another “con.” Just like “Y2K.”

My village doesn’t have them, but there are a few on a state and federal highway through the village and a lot in the bigger adjacent city.
Government “creates”the problem then government “fixes” the problem.
Government “creates” the problem then
Government “excerbates” the problem do it can “increase” the size of the government!
‘If we do not support and create the surveillance state, we cannot capture and remove all the criminal aliens.’
Never let a gubmint created crisis go to waste.

Illegal immigration- the gift that keeps on giving!
None of this is good for anybody. The federal goal of “safety” is a bottomless pit. Tracking and removing foreign individuals and groups intent on destroying America and working to prevent a national attack should be their main concern. By monitoring my house, license plate and street corner, it just angers me. What is worrisome is that there are no breaks or stops, and with the bane of AI, it’s not looking good.
AI will be used for good and evil, but evil will outweigh the good because of man’s inherent brokenness. Take the good and expose and punish the evil, just like we have done since the beginning!
Especially with all the FISA spying illegally on us and the IRS giving Holder all that information on us. Nobody got in trouble for it.
One small mistake or One willful action. Like the FISA Court and how many searches on Americans were conducted illegally? Wasn’t it in the hundreds of thousands and 70% were illegal searches? Anyhow has anyone been arrested and charged for breaking the law? NOPE.
This post by Sundance made me think back to 60 years ago and a 4th grade teacher I had. I recall it like it was yesterday. She spoke in words that fourth graders would understand. She spoke about the communist surveillance state.
I remember clearly feeling proud and safe in learning that such a surveillance state could not happen here in the United States. We are different. We have protections. We have the Bill of Rights.
The teacher talked about the sanctity of the U.S. Mail. “Nobody can read your letter but you and the recipient without a search warrant,” she told us. “When you drop an envelope in that red and blue mailbox on the corner, it can only be opened and read by the recipient.”
I especially remember feeling shocked when she explained to us that behind the Iron Curtain, there were TV cameras mounted high on utility poles. The purpose was to spy on citizens. But today as I went about my daily business, I estimate that I’ve been photographed and surveilled on camera at least 200 times by somebody, somewhere. And the cameras were not all on utility poles. They were everywhere.
So much has changed in my lifetime. It makes me both angry and sad.
Like I often say these days, “it’s a good time to quite old”.
Like I often say these days, “it’s a good time to quite old”.
Some of those cameras are in our pockets.
Yes, Indeed. However, the best laid plans of Big Brother can backfire on those in charge!
Biden’s Open Borders teams gave many, or most, illegal alien trespassers free “Bammy Phones” with their CBP One app loaded., to help them apply for Govt Free Chit, etc..
Then, smart America Firsters used cell phone ping tech to track the movement in mass of the illegals and found that most were concentrated or living in the Red states of TX, FL and Louisiana, specifically in the cities of Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Tampa, etc..
What was Biden’s dastardly plan? Was it to invade the Red States with illegals that would one day vote and dilute the MAGA votes in Red states??? If so, their plan was discovered by the intelligent use of cell phone tech to reveal their perfidious plot! “Hey, Big Brother”,…. your slip is showing,… again!
Sometimes, Big Tech can be applied for Good! Say, ICE,…. you using this data to “find’em, track’em, round’em Up and Head’em Out now”??? Say, can you track their use of Spanish-to-English language translation apps to help Round’em Up?
“Rollin, Rollin, Rollin,…, Yehaw!”
If we remove the SNAP money, free housing, education and health care, and pay them a bit to self deport. The problem might end faster. We need to get them out. Then work on the Islamists…they need to go too.
How convenient…Biden let in the illegal aliens and now it is the justification for the need for illegal surveillance of everyone…
FUBAR!!
This is like the supply-side, demand-side debates. One set of solutions works better than the other depending on the context.
If an illegal came here and:
1) could not get a job
2) could not get SNAP
3) could not get medicare
4) could not get social security
5) could not commit fraud to get any of the above
Then they would starve and go home.
I’m probably a bit off on my perception of facts, because the media isn’t reporting that a lot of companies are getting fined, shut down, etc. Maybe that is happening. But it seems easier and more efficient to make people want to leave, rather than to find and round up every last one of them.
The latter effort, of course, I still support wholeheartedly.
And of course there are already laws on the books about companies that hire illegals. Enforce them and watch the problem dry up over night…
There are also laws on the books about illegals, not getting snap or section 8 housing or free Medicare and Medi-Cal but what good does it do?
Any government’s attempt to make us more secure, improve our situation, or prevent harm will cause us misery and take away some freedom we had before. Hi, I’m from the government and I’m here to help you…
I know, I gonna get rich selling Groucho Marx masks on eBay and Amazon.
Long story short and after repeated acts of vandalism, these cameras will disappear in Ontario because the province has made them officially illegal. Citizens can have an impact on the surveillance state, even in places like Ontario, Canada.
I live in Los Angeles and we have had a huge increase in break ins. We have a very active neighborhood watch, and they have been having flock cameras installed and shared with law enforcement. The funny thing is what does it matter if you dont prosecute these people to the full extent of the law when they are caught. And most of the people in the neighborhood watch would be shocked to learn ICE is using this same tech.
I’ve seen on the news that Chilean and/or Argentinian and/or Colombian burglary teams fly up to LA for weekend crimes
One, it’s real easy for them to get US visas … apparently the US is stupidly lenient about handing out travel / entry visas
Two, a couple of these teams have behind high-profile robberies of professional athletes’ homes, because it’s evident the athletes will be away from their homesteads on game day (weekends)
Question for a friend. Since all of this is viable, why is Voter ID not?
Great question!
Every wifi device is map trackable from above. It is just a matter of bandwidth and filtering.
CLEAR VIEW
Script clip:
“However, Clear View AI faces significant weaknesses. The method of data collection, scraping images without explicit consent, has raised serious privacy concerns and led to legal challenges globally.
Accuracy can be inconsistent, particularly with individuals of color, raising concerns about bias and potential for misidentification.
The lack of transparency regarding the algorithm and data sources makes independent evaluation difficult.
Another major drawback is the potential for misuse and abuse. The technology could be used for mass surveillance, stalking, or other harmful activities if it falls into the wrong hands.
Moreover, numerous law enforcement agencies using Clear View AI have faced criticism for lack of clear policies and oversight regarding its use. The risk of false positives leading to wrongful accusations is a serious concern.
Finally, regulatory scrutiny and legal battles continue to impact the company’s operations and future viability in certain jurisdictions.
In conclusion, while Clear View AI presents a powerful tool for facial recognition with its vast database and
rapid search capabilities, the ethical concern surrounding its data collection practices, potential for bias, and risks of misuse outweigh its benefits for many.
The lack of transparency and accountability further exacerbate these issues, leading to a complex and controversial debate about the responsible use of facial recognition technology.
Before considering its application, a thorough risk assessment is crucial, weighing potential benefits against the substantial ethical and legal ramifications.”

Thanks, Sundance. Keep up the good work. Have a great Thanksgiving when it gets here.
It won’t be a mistake. We are being led to the slaughterhouse.
Sundance sowing the soil against the favorite horse with selective fertilizer 🤔.
Sundance, just don’t drink too much of the Associated Press Kool-Aid. Just reading the excerpts you posted tell me it is still up to its old tricks of picking only the elements of a news story that fits its meme.
With security cameras on every corner and in every vestibule, venturing into public area is a surrender of your privacy rights.
The new technologies bring artful, imaginative ways to use those images.
Why don’t we all go on a wild roadtrip, north to south, east to west, “just to see the country”, and confuse their idiocy. /S
It’s all good….as long as I get to choose who it’s used on.👍💪💯
It would be cheaper and more productive to give every American family a TANK for self defense………..Individual Americans will do a better job at defending our FREEDOMS!
False Flags, the Patriot Act, and Open Borders have led to our acceptance of the Surveillance State. You would almost think it was by design? I can only conclude that our government is afraid of us. That being said and known, fear and lack of trust of our own government is induced into the population. Unless and until this situation is corrected our greatest enemy is neither China, Iran, North Korea, nor Russia but our own government. We have created and support a malevolent authority to rule over us.
Well, maybe they can catch the scum that stole my son‘s pick up truck in Houston last week. The feather in their cap to catch that ring. Alarm goes off for 10 seconds and within 90 seconds the truck is gone on star communication shut off almost immediately. Houston police say it’s the number one theft in Houston are those trucks and they head straight to Mexico.
Go figure. The Government creates the problem and then partners with Big Tech/Pharma/Ag for the solution which, invariably, involves the forfeiture of more and more liberty. 9/11 and the passage of the Patriot Act is a classic example. COVID-19 is another. At the end of the day, this evil partnership will lead to our demise under the false pretense of protecting us from evil. Oh the irony!
How different would it be if we had cameras in every politicians office, monitoring who they meet and what they are doing for their friends with money?Facial recognition software could be used to know who’s buying their attention.Spy on us,spy on you should be our goal. The cameras would be far less widespread if we required the political class to live under the same surveillance they want us to accept.Of course, ethics laws that mattered would be nice, too, but we have to start somewhere. Why not start asking politicians speaking in public why we can’t observe their movements, meetings, and deal making? We do pay for all of it,after all.Maybe people should start following politicians around with cameras,as a modest start.
I will say it once again. The advance of technology, combined with the preeminent goal of most human activity to acquire more and more money (wealth) at whatever cost, is going to lead to the downfall of humanity itself.
Enjoy your lives, suckers.
They’re gonna be po’d when they get to my “travel data”.
This guy sounds crazy at first but then you begin noticing things. His focus is on the surveillance behind the visible surveillance. And how to reveal it

Related to immigration. We don’t need this surveillance, we just need to fix things that are already wrong
Here’s one.
My daughter’s original social security card was “lost in the mail”.
1) why isn’t it certified mail or sent with tracking like UPS. It’s a very important document. Im certain it was stolen.
2) to get a new SS card for her was a huge hassle, why isn’t there an easy way to flag this ss number for illegal use? Its not easy. And no one at the SS office cared that it “got lost in the mail”
Just things like that. There’s a million ways we can stop illegal behavior without resorting to mass surveillance and mass data collection.
Our government is already at the point t of “show me the person and I’ll find you a crime” [and quickly]. They have all the tools now.
Give me an effing break. The alphabet soup agencies probably know where 90% of all the 100+ million illegals are, they just don’t want to do anything about it.
