GERMANY – Volkswagen (VWAGY) has agreed to sell its Osnabrück plant in Germany to Israeli investor Aurelius Capital and the state of Lower Saxony, paving the way for the factory to shift from car production to defense manufacturing.
Vehicle production at the plant is scheduled to end in summer 2027. Aurelius would become the majority owner alongside Lower Saxony, with the aim of preserving the site and a large part of its workforce.
The new owners plan to develop the site gradually into a competence center for security and defense solutions. Aurelius and Lower Saxony are planning an initial anchor project with Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems in air defense, with further industrial partnerships and projects expected to follow.
The project could involve producing air-defense systems and components for Germany and Europe. About 1,400 of the plant’s 1,800 jobs could be preserved, according to labor officials. {source}

Actually there was nothing wrong with the French soldiers – 100% of the problem was French leadership.

Still have my diesel Jetta wagon, it’s old enough to drink, drive, and vote, 215,000 miles so far. I coast down every hill I can find, since diesel is now $6.30 a gallon (in a red state) and I know at 50 mph I get 55 mpg on the flat. I’m keeping it until the body rusts out completely and it falls apart. Love that car (our family has had a total of 9 VW’s over three generations, including an oval window, a Transporter, and a Squareback).
One of us had a diesel New Beetle; the entire electrical system failed while I was driving it, but it was a DIESEL and it did what diesels do, it dieseled long enough for me to find a gas station to park it. That was an exciting drive, the electronic fuel system was out and the idle was crap, but it worked.
I am sad to see what is happening to VW company.
