I was watching an elderly British citizen being hauled off to jail for criticizing Palestinian flags flying everywhere in his neighborhood. It is now illegal to express contrary views in Britain. The “police” inexorably got him into cuffs and then into the center of the street, late at night, where he proceeded to make a lot of noise protesting the injustice of it all … and they just casually let him rant.
And it struck me that … this is exactly what they want: public demonstrations of their capricious power and the useless protestations of the oppressed. Everyone looking through the curtains (and social media equivalents) at the pathetic scene get the intended message – “Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile.
