That was our yesterday – trip to the “big city,” for doctor appointment, errands, shopping, and…..lunch (the best part!) We have very little choice in restaurants near our place, so that is a treat for us.
I hope all is proceeding well for Lloyd. Still early days post op I know. It Chris ages to recover from his two surgeries. He’s not a patient man. Hope lunch was divine, Dahling!!! Its been a long time since we’ve gone. I’m angling for a return trip to our favourite burger place one day where they make the most magnificent onion rings…proper ones in beer batter. And we did splurge on fish n chips from the mobile van which visits once a month. I swear!!! Rivals those we got in the UK. So glad to hear Lloyd was feeling well enough to do the errands and lunch, sis 💕 PROGRESS!!!

Yes, Lloyd is doing well, all things considered. We saw his surgeon yesterday who approved of the progress, so 👍 He will be starting PT soon. Pray for me! Ha ha!
As you might imagine, there isn’t a lot of fresh seafood round these parts, so we like to go to a favorite place that has a nice selection – quite a treat. Really tough to beat good fish and chips though. And, delivered – Hoo Boy!
My WM day is tomorrow. Not my favorite outing but gotta do it. I buy very little food there choosing the smaller local grocery for that. So, our monthly supplements, paper goods and bird seed and other non food items takes now at least a third of my SS.
I’m excited, our farmer’s market is now open on Saturdays and the orchard.

I was a supplement shopper today, deb. YIKES!!!!
But we have been doing well with them, and I figure its cheaper than falling ill, so I carry on. Bird seed and dry cat food also. And the rest not your shopping lost.
I’ve noticed that paper towels are the same number.of rolls but thinner…same for TP. (narrows eyes onto slits and deliver a the southern stare).
They did have a roast chicken the price of which has been dropped to $5. Four meals at least from that one, so yay!!!
In Wales we had a farmer’s market every Tuesday. Wonderful produce. Miss those…and yes we cut our cloth as best we can 💕
But other than that our SS check is gone in short order. Ugh!!!!
I do love the farmers market that sets up nearby on Wednesdays. And, most of the produce is organic.
I was watching an economist on Real America’s Voice this am. He said the total cost of housing has risen 114% since Crooked Joe was selected. No wonder so many young people have little hope of ever owning their own home. Sad and unnecessary.

I buy most of our supplements online at IHerb, and dog and cat food from Chewy.com to save on driving (plus they have good prices and lots of sales).
I’ll have to check out iHerb. I get dog food from Petsmart on autoship. Like you, we have a Walmart and 2 small grocery in town. The bigger grocery stores are 30 miles away in either Oxford or Tupelo.
It’s great to know your husband is progressing forward to full recovery. I hope when he starts PT it will be close by.

She’s all of 30 compared to my now retired physician of 30 plus years who retired a couple of weeks ago at age 87 . . . 🙂

Funny – not funny, when you spend over $100 on 2 lousy bags!
I know this ages me, but when I got married, I had $12 a week to spend on groceries. Granted, I was 16 (17 by the time my daughter was born). I kept a running tally in my head going aisle to aisle and putting things back along the way.
At the time I wasn’t vegetarian and could make a chicken last at least 5 meals! First as a roast, then sandwiches, then casserole, and finally soup with the carcass boiling away. And this will surprise you….I had a kitty even then – George.
Pancakes for dinner was on the schedule when everything else failed.
I am not complaining. It has served me well being frugal and knowing how to create meals almost out of thin air.
My mom always laughed because I would call her asking for detailed instructions about a recipe. Nowdays you can get detailed instructions on your phone. No excuses.
Unfortunately, that is seemingly a lost art. Door Dash is not a budgetary plan! Wish I had a nickel for all the young folk who have told me, “I don’t cook.”
We don’t eat a lot. As I said to deb up top, most of my spend is on supplements and household items.
Funny you should mention chicken. One for $5 today. We just had a sandwich for dinner and will do again on a day or so, then the rest with veg for another meal. They used to be $7, but Walmart has dropped their prices for quite a few things, and that is one.
Yes, cooking is a lost necessary art. I’ve been passing quick cheap recipes to the boys who are heading to college where they will learn in short order they’d better get the skill and quickly.
And how funny!!! We had a cat named George once in Wales!! The name just seemed to fit him.
As for pancakes, our daughter had us over last week for dinner where she served pancakes, fruit and bacon. Delicious. French toast is another cheap and cheerful fallback.
And as you say, shopping with a budget is an art form as well. Something else kids today are probably unable to do as math in your head is involved. Ah well…necessity is the mother of new skills. Perhaps they’ll learn 😎

By rightly(correctly) dividing the word of truth(2Tim 2:15), one can discern that “according to my(Paul) gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which WAS kept secret since the world began”, the ‘church'(grace age believers) has to be taken out of the way(raptured) before the tribulation.
Law(OT) and grace(NT) are incompatible/contradictory operational systems.

Furthermore, the law is not of faith (Gen. 3:12) and everything not of faith is sin (Rom. 14:23). Lastly, those who rely on keeping the law are cursed (Gal. 3:10) and the law actually STIRS UP sin (Rom. 7:5).
Gal. 3:1-4 You foolish [Americans] . . . This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
Answer to question #1: If you’re a true believer, you became that way by “hearing with faith.”
Answer to question #3: Just as you received Christ Jesus the Lord [by faith], so walk in Him. (Col. 2:6)

When we moved into our house seventeen years ago, our yard for some reason attracted stray moms to be, and consequently we have caught many of them and their litters and taken them to our very excellent homing shelter.
But there was one we couldn’t trap, and he has been with us ever since. Over the years he would let me pet him, but only for so long, on his own terms. Likewise when it suited him he would let me brush him. As best as I could I provided him shelter in our garage by placing old blankets and quilts under a couch we should have dumped a long time ago but which provided shelter, security and warmth in the winter.
He showed up every morning for his breakfast, occasionally missing a day or two as he was doing what cats do, wandering where we knew not. And I would always worry about him but never said out loud what I knew would come the day. He was his own man.
Two weeks ago after not seeing him for four days, I said to my husband that I feared we would not see him again. The feeling was that strong that we would not.
While he was with is, we gave him a better life than he would have otherwise had. I’m sure St Francis has come to get him…I miss him…💔

Not knowing creates its own roller coaster of emotions.
One of mine (16 years old) is slipping away day by day. We trapped him as a very young kitten. He needs almost constant attention and I find myself tearing up imagining the future. One would think losing fur children might get a little easier after so many – not at all so. 😢
Knew it was coming but pushed it to the back of my mind. The day I finally said what I said to Chris, I knew with certainty. Thank you, dearest friend.

Thank you, sunnydaze. What beautiful abodes! We have many ferals who live on our property. They own our garage, but we also built a few insulated shelters – but, oh my, not nearly as posh as these! What a lovely man. ❤️
We have two cat shelter houses on our back deck. One has a low-current heated pad that we plug in when the temps are below 60°F. There are up to 4 different strays that visit us; one of which – a beautiful Maine Coon female – has adopted us as its food & shelter provider. Her elderly original owner died 7 years ago and she became a “neighborhood cat”. No one from the deceased woman’s family bothered to adopt the cat.
Now that our back deck awning is up for the season (until November), the Maine Coon female, who uses the heated shelter box on cold days, spends her days on the glider. We think she is an older cat, 10 years at least. Another neighbor has been letting her in his house at night when the cat comes to his back door, ever since the woman neighbor died. He doesn’t like cats but thought the cat shouldn’t be ignored.

Hah. He’s a 50-something single man who says he goes out of town frequently. When he’s gone we don’t know if he has a renter who looks out for the cat or not. According to him there was a woman renting part of the house from him 2 years ago who actually took the cat to a vet for a checkup and a rabies shot. But the woman moved away and we figured thats why Phoebe (my wife named the cat since the man never did – he just calls her ‘Cat’) has been spending time on our back porch.
So kind of you and nbors to look after phoebe. Poor thing. She probably wonders where her owner went, and for sure misses her. 🙁

Remember what you are saved for – that the Son of God might be manifested in your mortal flesh. Bend the whole energy of your powers to realize your election as a child of God; rise to the occasion every time.
You cannot do anything for your salvation, but you must do something to manifest it, you must work out what God has worked in. Are you working it out with your tongue, and your brain and your nerves? If you are still the same miserable crosspatch, set on your own way, then it is a lie to say that God has saved and sanctified you.
God is the Master Engineer, He allows the difficulties to come in order to see if you can vault over them properly – “By my God have I leaped over a wall.” God will never shield you from any of the requirements of a son or daughter of His. Peter says – “Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you.” Rise to the occasion; do the thing. It does not matter how it hurts as long as it gives God the chance to manifest Himself in your mortal flesh.
May God not find the whine in us anymore, but may He find us full of spiritual pluck and athleticism, ready to face anything He brings. We have to exercise ourselves in order that the Son of God may be manifested in our mortal flesh. God never has museums. The only aim of the life is that the Son of God may be manifested, and all dictation to God vanishes. Our Lord never dictated to His Father, and we are not here to dictate to God; we are here to submit to His will so that He may work through us what He wants. When we realize this, He will make us broken bread and poured-out wine to feed and nourish others.

Pilgrim’s Progress, written in 1675 by John Bunyan, tells of a young man named Christian and his journey to the Celestial City, those he meets along the way, and the trials and circumstances he faces on his travels. The goal of that allegorical character was the hope of eternal life in the happy and glorious company of God and the Heavenly Host.
Bunyan himself was in prison during the writing of Pilgrim’s Progress and other books, theses and letters. His imprisonment followed his Bible teachings on reformation theology at a time when religious intolerance in Europe was at its height.
Cliffs Notes summarizes that Bunyan was accused of treating “sacred matters in too colloquial and familiar a style a manner.”
In John 14:2-3, Jesus told His disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.”
In today’s verse, in His High Priestly Prayer, Jesus reminds the Father of His longing to have His followers with Him in the eternal glory of His presence. It is the promise for everyone who has come to Christ by faith. That makes each believer a pilgrim on his own journey toward the heavenly place where the Lord dwells.
Like the young man in Bunyan’s story, there will be obstacles and adversity along the journey. Jesus told His disciples, “I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”
Pilgrim, you are a citizen of Heaven (Philippians 3:20)—this world is not your home; you’re “just a -passin’ through.” God has provided you with His road map for navigating the perils and pitfalls and experiencing the joys and pleasures of life with Him here and now.
As your heavenly citizenship comes with responsibilities, so does your temporary citizenship on Earth. Eternal values need to guide or supersede your earthly values.
Pray for legislators in states across the country to know the values God wants and enact laws accordingly.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
