Dear Treepers,
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
We are blessed and thankful to be unharmed and safe. Unfortunately, like thousands of others, our home took major damage.
The roof could not withstand hours of 140 mph winds. The front side of the storm had weakened it, and the backside had compromised it. There are multiple structural failures all around my neighborhood.
We have no power, water, or internet etc. All my time today will be spent working on debris removal, temporary patches, and simple recovery survival.
However, all will be okay.
All my love,
Sundance
Glad you are okay!
Yes! Best Wishes for quick repairs!
Our youngest son (unfortunately) moved away to the central Florida area, so his house was not hit by the worst.
Still, it was concerning!
Glad you’re safe SD – those other things can be replaced.
It’s getting ready to hit us tomorrow!
Prayers for you and the family SALCPA!
🙂
You’re the BEST.
Praying for you! Stay safe…May God bless and protect you.
Deep felt thoughts and prayers go out to Sundance and all of those who were in the hurricanes path.
Sundance, you’ve built a tremendous family through the CTH. There’s very few of us who would not fly a couple thousand miles to get in to personally help you. I would. Once you’ve established your costs in dollars let us know! Best wishes
Time for Treepers to organize a Jeff Childers / Coffee & Covid-style multiplier for SD.
He will not know his costs until he gets an estimate. With the kind of damage the area sustained that may take months. Meanwhile his family needs housing immediately. His costs will be tens of thousands depending on exactly when he is able to get a new roof, if more storms come before then, if his walls develop mold.
Be safe.
There is just as much danger after the storm as during the storm.
Thank you for the update! We were worrying. Something like this sure brings things into focus. I’ll be donating soon. God bless.
Jesus bless you! We continue to pray for you and your family.
Glad you are safe.. Prayers for you and all other Floridians
Praying for you and yours Sundance .
God is with you .
So good to hear from you. Glad ya’ll are safe!
Happy to hear y’all are safe. Best of luck on the clean-up. Hope only months and not years. Looks like a rough one. Howdy from the Gulf Coast.
so very glad and relieved to hear you are safe-so sorry for the damage and heartbreak that so many Floridians are experiencing now. Praying for each and every one.
Praying for you and family, Sundance.
Wowie!! Stay safe!
Glad to hear you are safe. I hope that there have been no lives lost and your community can quickly rebuild.
Glad to hear, may God be with you…
Stay safe. Material comforts of life are replaceable; human life is not. Keep your faith in God, the Great Protector.
Thanks for letting us know you’re safe. Praying for you and your area.
So glad to hear Ya’ll are OK. It will seem like forever to do without power, the clean up and expenses of repair and replacement. However I found there are many memories of being grateful and the appreciation of family and friends pulling together. The laughter as everyone is that comes even while cooking on the pit for dinner. Nothing major, just hot food. Than being grateful for the can food for lunch and or breakfast. Take care Sundance. Thanks for taking the time for letting us know the outcome. As well the site still open. 🙂
The images of the damage are heartbreaking.
Best wishes Sundance and too all of the other residents of Florida affected by the hurricane.
All the best to you and your family. If I lived in your neck of the woods I would surely lend you a hand. God bless, God speed.
Anyone ever build a beach front house on a hull that could be raised by storm surge without damage?
Noah?
Oh, I LOVE that answer!
there was no rain before the Great Flood…..that was the folly of Noah and sons building an arc to weather the flood
How did people grow crops where Noah lived?
LOL X 10!!! Best response to any question I ever asked! NOAA VS Noah!
I’ve been fascinated by a similar thought for some time, a virtually armored pod that can elevate itself on tall pier posts.
Someone I know had their house knocked sideways off their pilings and the house was deemed totaled. The house itself was unscathed so he got engineers to not only check the structure but also determine best way to put back on pilings.
They dug down to bedrock and built concrete base and pilings to place the house on. The house has gone thru several hurricanes and ends up with a swimming pool under it but no damage.
Praying for you and family Sundance.
Can we donate to your recovery?
There is a donate button on the home page.
Excellent “advice” Richard….thank you!

Devastating pictures. Glad you made it through and you Sundance, and yours, are safe.
Be well. Our prayers with all affected.
Nature teaches us all the time how mighty she is.
DONATION SENT! God bless you, Sundance, and all the treepers affected. Been praying for you in earnest from Central Indiana.
Oh my! I am beyond thrilled to hear you are safe (thank you AdRem for the post)!! Sending positive thoughts your way!
Sundance has sometimes used a single word–Steadfast–to sign off on a heartfelt and difficult post, that single word indicating that in heart, love, and giving he stands firm in commitment to Treepers and Treehouse life.
The affection and care that flows through him to his neighbors today speaks that word: Steadfast
Those who read, love, pray, and stand by today from this digital point on the internet are, and will be, Steadfast
Steadfast includes the long haul after the crisis is over, when weariness inevitably becomes an issue, and details that demand attention keep accumulating.
Sundance, may you feel a whole bunch of steadfast flowing from this good Tree and buoying you up in the hours, days, and weeks ahead.
Beautifully stated Sharon.
Awesome heartfelt message! Very nice
This will surely be my favorite comment today Sharon.
I’m going to text this to SD….knowing it will touch him greatly to read it.
Is Sundance OK???
Yup, that was his words above that Ad rem posted on his behalf.
So special, Sharon. 🥲
You captured it all for us, Sharon! Thank you! <3
Well said Sharon. God be with the people of Florida, and others in the path of this horrible storm.

Of course he does
Amen!
God bless!
How is your family at Daytona Beach? Everyone okay?
Praise the Lord for answered prayers. Those of us who live near the Gulf and have experienced hurricanes like Ian know the difficulties you are going through. No water, no power and roof damage is a trial of one’s patience and faith I don’t wish on anyone! It is a time of neighbors coming together to help each other, with clean up and roof repairs. When I lost power for almost a week all our frozen foods thawed but we still had natural gas and all the thawed meats were grilled at once and eaten. My gas water heater worked so we could shower which was a big plus with no AC. Had to sleep with the windows open in the South Texas heat after the hurricane! Finding ice and bottled water was impossible! I hope and pray that Sundance will receive much needed help in home repairs and a return of power quickly! We need Sundance he fights! To paraphrase Lincoln!! Godspeed Sundance and all Floridians impacted by Ian!!!
“Money lost — little lost. Honor lost — much lost. Pluck lost — all lost. It appears you are on your way back.
God bless and god speed on the cleanup.
Thank God you’re safe. Stay well. You’ve got this.
Boomeranging the love right back to you, Sundance. Your massive family here praying for you and all whose lives have been turned upside down, knowing that even now, plans for help and rebuilding are in the works.
As we were going through the sad, stressful, busy time preparing to bury my sister Tuesday, leaving me the last one standing from my nuclear family, my heart went out to those in a similar situation who were in the path of the hurricane.
May they receive extra endurance, guidance, and peace during this time of turmoil.
Texas Rancher, I can’t tell you how truly sad I am to see you post this. I am sorrier than you can imagine. Heartbreak like that in these times is magnified I know, and one we are headed for as well with my husband’s sister overseas and unwell. Please, my friend, accept my most heartfelt condolences on a loss that I know strikes deep. She’ll be with her Maker now who without question welcomed her home. May He grant you peace in knowing she is at peace herself. Blessings to you, sir🙏
Condolences on the loss of your dear sister TR.
May her memory be a blessing
Oh my, so devastating. Must be so overwhelming, to wonder where to begin. I can not imagine. Heartfelt thoughts going out to you and all impacted by Ian. Thank you for the updates. you are a Good man! GOD KNOWS! So sad to hear and see so many properties damaged and destroyed. Sending steadfast resolve.
Good to hear you and yours are OK and weathered the storm health wise. Sorry to hear about the roof damage. Wish I were there to help. Please know that your posts on how to survive hurricanes before, during and after have saved many lives and encouraged many to selflessly help others in recovery. May those good deeds come back to you in spades.
God Bless Y’all!! So happy y’all are safe!! Love and Prayers 🙏 To All!
Glad you made it through. Can’t imagine going through hours and hours of 100+mph winds and not knowing if the roof, or worse, will go. I live in Oklahoma, but our weather ain’t nothing compared to the mental exhaustion of a Hurricane.
Very good to hear you guys made it through OK, but that really sucks about your home.
God Bless and Godspeed your recovery!
Grateful beyond words!
Glad you and the family are safe- Stuff can be fixed or replaced, people cannot. Wishing the best to you.
