Dear Treepers,
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
We are blessed and thankful to be unharmed and safe. Unfortunately, like thousands of others, our home took major damage.
The roof could not withstand hours of 140 mph winds. The front side of the storm had weakened it, and the backside had compromised it. There are multiple structural failures all around my neighborhood.
We have no power, water, or internet etc. All my time today will be spent working on debris removal, temporary patches, and simple recovery survival.
However, all will be okay.
All my love,
Sundance

Thank God you are all okay! Know that we continue to pray for you and your family, and for all those suffering through the impact of Hurricane Ian. God bless you…if we can help in any way, know we are here for you.
Maybe we could all chip in a little to help Sundance pay the deductible on his home insurance policy.
There are 15,000 readers here, right? If we all chipped in $10, it would pay his deductible and give him money to hire people to help.
Watcha say?
Count me in
Thou will be done
He is going to need much more than that. His family needs a place to stay with his roof out. Also, more storms are coming, the season is not over yet. It may take months before he can get a new roof.
Warmest wishes from British Columbia.
Good to hear you are safe. Do what you need to do. We can amuse ourselves for a while.
Praying for you right now, Sundance.
Thankfully, unlike Louisiana in 2005, Florida has adults in charge.
Right you are –
Yet I wonder what the adolescents in DC will do to punish Floridians … for their wrong-think?
Thoughts and prayers with all of you.
Sundance,
We are unscathed (just elevated water in the neighborhood). I’m probably 30 miles away (?) in East Orlando, and have extra chain saws (one pushing a 48″bar). I also have a BUNCH of fuel. If you think I may be of service, AdRem knows how to reach me. It would be my honor.
Warmest Best,
Strength’N’Honor,
skipper
Oh, and an “extra” generator, if need be..
Best,
skipper
Bless you, Skipper.
See if he needs tarps. I have two in bags, small size 6 x 8 but sturdy. One is out of the bag, dirty but intact. Three in total.
I am in Titusville just south of 50. I have 5 gallons with stabilizer. A wagon wheel barrel.
I have tons of other emergency stuff, solar powered lights, so find out what he need. I have a CRV. I can transport. I’m too weak and too short to be much physical help.
I bet if you get a list, we can bring him most of it.
Lolly,
That’s a very kind offer. Thank you. If I hear from him/them, I will find you “in the threads!
Best,
skipper
My prayers are with you all, and my sis in Bradenton.
Every thing can be replaced. Humans can not. Continued prayers for Floridians. Thank God you are safe!
I talked to my buddy in Lehigh Acres on Sunday, when the storm was still headed Tampa way. He and the Mrs. were busy picking up all of her lawn ornaments. He was digging out the storm shutters that came with the house, never used in five years. They were going out to get supplies and gas later that day.
Then the storm took that right turn. I finally got ahold of them a couple of hours ago. They suffered minor damage but “the area is devastated”.
Positive vibes to all!
Sticks and stones can be replaced. So happy you made it through.
Prayers to you and yours Sundance.
Myrtle Beach here…happy you are ok but so sorry about your neighborhood. Prayers for all touched by this massive storm. We’re awaiting our turn with Ian. Wind has picked up a lot and the ocean is angry. Fingers crossed and prayers being said.
Former Charlestonian here…my prayers for all y’all’s safety.
Thank you, prayer is all we have now. So very appreciated, Aggiegirl
Stay safe.
We are doing our best and are prepared, I hope. Thank you for your thoughts.
Those are the first pictures I’ve seen, post Ian. TV on the fritz. God help all of you affected. We are praying for you constantly.
Glad to hear that you’re OK. Wish I could help you clean up!
Good to hear that you are okay, Sundance but very sorry to hear of the damage 🙁
I recently moved to SC and am about to experience a taste of Ian. Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as you guys had it.
Stay strong!
I’m here in SC with you. Living near the coast and the water is really high. Ready to bug out if necessary.
Stay safe, Observer.
Sundance, soooo good to know you’re okay❣️❣️❣️
-Phew!
Be and stay well✝️.
Great time for any of us who were thinking about donating to The Treehouse to go ahead 😊
Yes. This is definitely a “don’t just talk about it… DO IT” time. If we can alleviate any burden at all for Sundance – he sacrifices so much for us daily! So few take stands and boldly speak out — our Sundance is a national treasure and we are the wiser from him. Donation sent!
Donation sent. Also another donation to Samaritan’s Purse.
So good to hear from you, Sundance!!! Sorry to hear about the damage on the house, but we are glad you and the family are safe!!! We will continue our prayer for you that God abundantly and miraculously supplies all that you need!
God bless you!
Jean
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
As soon as there is gas at the corner store I will be headed to Orlando to help my cousin. West of Ocala we were spared. Time for us in the Panhandle and Big Bend to step up.
After Hurricane Charley, a family came from Tampa to Lake Suzy looking for people to help . We didn’t have any trees down but they did clean up a big bush that was in our yard that had been pulled out of the ground. We were so appreciative. They would take no pay.
Sundance, I am sure there are many prayers reaching God’s ears at this time for all of you. We are so thankful you made it through the night and no doubt His hand was keeping you safe. Our heart goes out to you and family.
Thank you for the update. Glad you are safe and well. My prayers will continue, God bless.
Treepers – You know what to do. Hit that donate button if you are able. Every bit will help Sundance & family and others.
Been waiting to hear from you. Sorry for the home damage but thank the good Lord that you are OK. So much horrific damage in Ft. Meyers. The Sanibel Causeway damage is unreal. Must say, DeSantis is doing a very good job with the hurricane team that he has assembled. The recovery staging of equipment and crews is excellent.
Blessings and prayers for everyone who has been affected.
If you want to watch live streams of local Florida news ABC Action News in Tampa has been doing a really good, informative job.
Good luck and thanks for keeping us informed as always.
Godspeed!
What a beautiful place to live! Despite the debris…it will clean up and be back as beautiful in no time. Good to hear you are all okay. God Bless;)
Good to hear you’re safe. We are on the Mid Atlantic coast and it looks like it’s going to peter out for us. Have friends in Tampa and Naples and haven’t heard from them yet
Glad to hear only limb damage and family o.k. Donation on the way.
Praying For Florida🇺🇸🦅♥️💯
Glad you are all ok !! Prayers to all in Florida and all still in the path of Ian and his remnants.
good to hear you are OK Sundance
prayers answered, stay well.
weird day yesterday without your post(s) though.
missed you
Then you are rich beyond your hopes. I am so happy all is ok for you and yours–you are ok. The debris can be cleaned up. The roof can be fixed. The power will get turned on (assuming your electric system is functional?).
Know that these last many days, many, many Treepers have mentioned you and hoped and prayed for your safety. You and yours are loved more than you may realize!
St. Joseph has got this for you…patron saint of workers, laborers, married people, pioneers, craftsman, People who fight Communism and of course, Carpenters…to name a few of this saint’s patronages.
We pray for your safety and strength during the clean up! We pray the hassles are few. And that you have an extra pair of work gloves and boots.
So happy to hear the sound of your voice through the written word. I was so worried for you. Courage. In the end, all will be sturdier.
Looks pretty rough there. Thank God anyway! Stay safe!
Glad you’re okay. Hoping you and all Floridians recover from this soon.
Thank God you all are not hurt, physically, that is. Sorry about your property – praying for yourcontinued safety as you all clean up and a quick return to the “before” picture (was gonna say “return to normal,” but who knows what that is anymore?).
Phil. 4:13
Sundance and family, good to hear you are safe.
We were thinking about you a lot!
Hope you continue to be safe in the aftermath, and that recovery and repair come without excess burden (all things considered).
Praying for you and your family.
If the worst is passed, then I’m glad you all are okay, hopefully there were no fatalities. You can rebuild homes. You can’t bring back the dead. Hopefully you’ll all be okay down there.
In the silence here, we knew you were Held in the thrashing of the storm there.
But so good to hear your own voice tell us you are OK.
Many prayers of thanks to our Almighty God, and many for strength, encouragement, and continued protection as you deal with what can feel overwhelming.
And I think of your back also Sundance, praying that it will stay strong and without any negative impact.
All my donation money for the rest of the year is going to Samaritan’s Purse. Encouraging others to do the same. My family is all safe and homes are mostly fine after dodging the worst of it. Definitely puts into perspective how lucky we are to “only” be getting a Cat-1 this weekend.
Praying for you and yours Sundance and all Treepers who were hit by this.
This made me remember questions being raised here last year about organizational priorities and patenrships, which also might include where some of the funding was going. I made a note of the link:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2021/12/18/december-18th-2021-presidential-politics-resistance-day-333/comment-page-2/#comments
(I won’t re-print the entirety of what was written, as it can still be found at that link.)
““Click to be directed to Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. They are partnering with Church World Service to resettle Afghans in partnership with local churches.”
“What I found particularly interesting is this is the only place that I could find on the web or on the sites of the two organizations listed that connects them in any way. Have a look and see if you can find it. Why might that be? It’s worth asking if one organization that appears to style itself on following traditional biblical values in outreach might prefer not to have their affiliation well-known with an organization that might have different perspectives and priorities than the public image of the other, especially regarding political affiliations and objectives. Well…
https://refugeeresettlementwatch.org/2019/11/23/church-world-service-one-of-three-federal-refugee-contractors-suing-trump-funded-from-us-treasury/
“Yep, they just happen to be one three federal refugee contractors that filed a 2019 lawsuit against the executive order giving state and local governments the authority to block refugee resettlement in their jurisdictions.”
“If the apparent lack of transparency of Samaritan’s Purse on their website and in some basic web searches as far as their relationship with this organization are an indication, one has to wonder what percentage of donations to the organization will go towards funding organizations like this. It’s up to organizations to lead with transparency, accountability, and oversight, especially when such partnerships like this are not only contemplated but reportedly implemented involving untold amounts of what some might deem funds and missions dedicated to Great Commission goals.”
The Cajun Army is Great also.

Good choice. Always check CharityNavigator.com before donating to any charity.
Glad to know you are ok. That was a heck of a storm.
Praying for you & family Sundance. Praise God you all are ok. God speed in your cleanup/ repair priorities.
Some NICE REFRESHING weather from North Eastern Florida pushing through the rest of the state.
Less humidity and cooler.
Tender mercy.
Glad to hear you and your family are ok.. Take your time to
get things in order.
Heard from BIL in Cape Coral..They are fine, no power, some minor damage
to house to the soffits and the screen on the porch but otherwise, thankfully
no water damage.
So sorry you had to bear this, Sundance; but, bottom line, I’m so glad you are okay. I hope recovery is as quick and painless as possible.
Thank you for all you do.
Ground report Fort Myers…
My son is one of probably 3 people in Fort Myers that hasn’t lost power and still has patchy cell text/ calling, but no data or internet.
He was on the top floor of a 3-story apt. building. Perhaps being fairly close to the Emergency Management Center kept him on the grid that probably operated on battery power.
He just let me know that ALL Lee Co. hospitals are being evacuated to wherever. At least one flooded, and none have AC or electricity. Water pressure is basically zero.
Collier County had to take over 911 calls when Lee’s failed last night.
Nusing homes were evacuated pre-Ian to Healthcare Hospital in Fort Myers, which subsequently flooded.
No idea how many people we’re talking about.
REPEAT…Lee County has NO functional hospital, including ERs.
The area is decimated.
The photos used in the post were taken from the greater Ft. Myers area…. 🙁
Continued prayers!
