Not sure what your profession is, but there are so many jobs that are being conducted virtually, you may find something in your profession or related to your field, that you can do from home.
I had started to retire last year; submitted my paperwork but then the “jab” requirement was put on hold so I withdrew my retirement request. So glad that I did. At 74, closing in on 75 I plan to stay employed for as long as possible.
I am able to work a 30 hour work week, from my home thanks to the “covid” and my age keeps them from requiring me to come back into the office because I am considered to be in a vulnerable class! Saves me commute time, wear and tear on my vehicle, gasoline expenses, and I haven’t had to wear office acceptable clothing for nearly 2 years!
So far, it’s working to my benefit. Good luck to you and I pray you can find a similar situation for yourself.

I retired in January 2020 and don’t regret it at all. I live on less but my expenses are lower and I get to meet with friends, volunteer and do stuff around the house at my own speed. I don’t know how much you have saved and what your income would be but I personally don’t regret it at all. My only regret is that I still have a mortgage but it will be paid off in January, 2024.
I do feel sorry for renterss. My sisters tent just went up $300 but she lives in walking distance to her grandchildren so she’s not moving yet. She might get a part time job doing online tutoring since she was a teacher for a few years. I told her we’ll build her a tiny house in my backyard in a couple years when they are older and don’t need her for after school care.
Have zero debt. Decent amount in 401K and will get pension, just want to see where all this insanity being conducted by the freaks currently running the country into the ground is going to lead us to. I have a spouse to think of and I want them to be comfortable with my decision.
I sold my business and retired in 2020 as well.
No mortgage, no debt of any kind, low property taxes, insurance is the killer. Without dipping into my savings I can comfortably meet all my expenses with about 40% of my SS income. I’m very happy.
I breed horses on the side so I have some income from that that supports my personal horse and show expenses. That is an industry that if you stay in the high end, the rich folks buy no matter the state of the economy.
Our rent went up four hundred and fifty dollars. She jacked us up in October and now this past month. Makes me sick. I really want to move…….

My painting business us pretty slow at the moment. A few people are calling here and there but this winter is gonna be lean.
My neighbor is 44, single father, landscaper for a large nursery. A very hardworking and moral man. He goes to work, comes home, makes dinner for his son, does not drink or do drugs or shack up. His son is a sweetheart.
We talked the other day and he said food and gas prices are killing him. He used to have disposable income for extras, outings, weekend trips with his son. No more. He said he can’t believe how fast Biden is ruining the economy.
He is worried. While these elitist politicians and 7/8 figure communists living in their mansions Lie like they breathe, people like my neighbor are being hurt the worst. I don’t know how he is affording his rent plus everything else. He’s not on any govt assistance.

I, on the other hand, live there more than half the year, and have been making long trips into the interior for 55 years. I have a house there.
If you can work remotely, getting US-style wages, you can do well and live comfortably. Food is good, people are nice (if a little larcenous). And after speaking with Mexican friends, I think it’s safe from digital currency and the surveillance state.

I must be blessed because despite everything our family is getting ahead in this current economy. But then again we have always done things smarter not harder so your guess is as good as mine. I don’t question it anymore I just thank god I am where I am.

Speaking of onions, potatoes, and beets. The weather has affected the growing season in much of the country. There’s less good produce in home gardens. Many are lucky and had good gardens. A lot of gardens failed due to the lack of rain this past Spring. I got tons of potatoes, but not much else. I put home grown chickens in the freezer. I laughingly told myself, “it’s potatoes and chicken then! every single day!”
On the larger scale, the fertilizer issue combined with the weather issue has produced far less than normal. The wheat crops, for instance, will have less protein. A lot of corn in this part of the country grew, because it was irrigated, but the blazing sun and little rain caused the sweet corn to taste like field corn more suitable for animal consumption. It’s been a very rough year for farmers and ranchers, not to mention the cattle issues in Texas… not to mention that beef that was sacrificed is being exported. They’ll say, “It’s climate change!!!” and I’ll respond with “No. It’s the weather. So rather than sending billions to Ukraine, why don’t you help folks here at home with Food Security because a lot of shelves are empty and the prices are getting unaffordable for most families.”
Honestly, I thought Maria did a good job and stopped short of screaming at the Brandon Administration for causing the crisis (plural).
Potatoes and chicken make for a good curry … add some carrots as well … serve over rice
