Awww that I would have known of your tasteful guitar selections when daughter was a tot. I could have corralled and lulled to sleep a room full of toddlers with such relaxing music. Hopefully our grandparents here are sharing with their downstream ancestors these delightful tunes for the benefit of the littles in their lives.
We love instrumental music. My daughter is in love with Chris Botti, a trumpeter out of Indiana University here, who can lull her to sleep… even now. Between my love of instrumental works (guitar, piano, horns) and her mile-a-minute mind… they converge to grant her peacefulness and rest.
Music, just like camaraderie, is as therapeutic as the strongest drug. Thank you for these.
Morning, Woo 💕 Music IS therapeutic. I overdose on it daily. We have a local classical station which aired more ads than music. But last year they went to a PBS model…no ads, just continuous music with a few lovely programs such as choral music from Britain on Sundays, and a programme on Saturdays showcasing youngsters to whom God has given incredible talent with various instruments.
To inspire Savannah, here is a gorgeous English lady, Alison Balsam whose mastery of the trumpet is in no doubt. What a talent! Breath control? Wow!!! Huge to you both, dear friend 🤗😘

She often wears ear buds and keeps music going in the background to focus on what she’s working with and to drown out the “noise”. There can be lots of it at times.
On her school bus, there are mouthy middle schoolers with one in particular who keeps yelling “Wanna see me fight?!” They suspended her after she started whaling on another student. Daughter sent me recordings.
These kids are like animals with no proper training… similar to a jail house prison yard.
The elder students on the bus have taken to laughing… but as a parent… I don’t find it entertaining. What do those parents do at home?
Classical music theory should be mandatory! It tames the savage beast.

I’d hope that that sort of uncivil, disruptive, violent behaviour would be stopped by the school, Woo. It would have been once upon a time. But no standards of any description are required any more. No prayer in schools, no Pledge of Allegiance, no dress code, no requirements to act like a civilized human being and no consequences for not. Never mind lowering the educational standards so far (over the decades) that no student will be equipped to make a go of it in this world.
I feel so bad for Savannah…one more year to endure, right?
Our two first grands graduate this month, then off to smaller colleges. And I am very glad about this. Caroline (their mom) and Sarah Grace (their little sister by two years) are really starting to feel it, the house without the boys in it…and we are as well. All those days of picking them all up from preschool until the boys got their driving licenses…POOF!! Gone in a flash.
SG finally got her driver’s license after being turned away from her test originally because the school sent the wrong paperwork. That was on her birthday. But the boys made up somewhat for the crushing disappointment by giving her a tasteful silver necklace with three rings interlocking, each one engraved with their names. They will be apart for the first time in their lives next year. I don’t know who cried harder…SG or me!! Life doesn’t stand still. It will be hard…

Being in a metal can of a school bus filled with 13 year old hellions is a pretty good example of purgatory, ‘Woo. I’m not saying your goal of getting Savannah a real HS diploma isn’t valuable. It sure sounds like she’s developed the coping skills to navigate that stressful environment. Good for her.
However, and this is just information—not even a suggestion—your state has open admission and most colleges no longer require the SAT for admission. Especially since she’s already 18, Savannah doesn’t actually need to be
a HS graduate to start her next phase of education. Lots of special=ed students get
GED’s for this reason.
If you want to do so, since you made a good contact at the trade fair, it might be helpful to contact the HR person you met. Ask for a referral to a counselor who specializes in special needs students. You’d be just asking for higher ed specific information. You don’t have to actually agree to anything just talk about where she is and ask for advice about what to do next.
The training Savannah’s looking at will be for grown ups and won’t appear at all like HS. For this reason alone, a talk with a high-ed special needs trained counselor would be helpful. Just sayin’ . . . 🙂
The next step is Wednesday, May 8th, for the Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Open House with Vincennes University.
I’ll email the recruiter we met and ask him, Garrison, about a special ed counselor for her.
Good. Hopefully, the counselor should be connected to the training program or with the university. This contact will identify your daughter to both the program and the university. She should then gain ADA coverage at this point.
That is an important designation. I understand that the HS counselor often fain ignorance of the law (sometimes they are actually ignorant—had a counselor at my school who intentionally didn’t know chit).
Meting with a well trained counselor can be invaluable. Good luck and please keep me posted. 🙂

I sent the Alison Balsam links to her, but they wouldn’t work on her phone. There are barriers it seems while she’s at school to what goes through on her cell phone. She’ll give a listen later. 🎶

My favourite still remains the unfortunately late Rolf Smedvig…but videos of his are few and far between which is a darned shame. His group, Empire Brass which I had the great pleasure of hearing when they came to our small East Texas town decades ago as part of a series call “Community Concerts” made a huge impression which has never left me.
At the moment I can’t find the piece I thought I’d saved. This will have to do. It is a gem. Happy, light, a real mood lifter 😘

I gave birth to a daughter who was one of those “highly effective” people who only needed 4 hours of sleep… whereas I needed more than that. Thus my dependency on strong, rich coffee ensued.
Now, sleep is for the weak… ha ha!!
She was a very happy and content baby, though. Her day care providers would take their breaks and hold her, because she was calm and warm. Not much has changed. She is still that way.
In this crazy world, we can set the standards in our own homes and find our sanity.
Praying Lloyd can rest and hoping you’re finding ways to keep the pain at bay. I’m sure Greg1 could give tips for that. He will heal in no time and feel so much better for going through this challenge. I pray it so.

I’m pretty much in heaven if I get 4 hours. Lately 1 to 2 is more like it. Savannah and I would get along great! My dad often worked 2 full time jobs and was good with cat naps.
My son never slept through a night till he was 2 years old. I’m conditioned and experienced 😃.
And…the real President sleeps 4 hours a day.
Lloyd is getting a bit discouraged, I think. He’s experiencing more pain rather than less (that is to be expected), but I removed his dressing as directed today and his wound looks just fine. Tincture of time (and patience)!

Well, ole’ Prince was bigger than me. I was more “his boy” than him being “my” dog. Still remember curling up with him in his doghouse on a cold winter day. Sigh. . .
I’m sure he didn’t mind sharing the space at all with “his” boy. Sigh. He seemed to have taken to you, as my Maine Coon has taken to me.
I can’t nap anywhere without him right alongside me. The closest of the close with big floofy soft fur and the deepest purrs. He tells me when it’s time for bed.
He has his own dining room chair where he sits patiently waiting to be served a nibble or two. He sits very politely and we will lay a morsel at his place and he gently scoops it with his paw off the table and into his awaiting chompers.
He is the absolute gentleman.

Jay, I have just the fixin’s for those eggs with some leftover tidbits of a bone-in ham I roasted and pieced apart and put in small increments in the freezer. It is so much cheaper than purchasing cold cuts for kiddo’s lunches. I especially love the Aldi’s bone-in hams, as they are not as salty. Those eggs look divine. Even a spiral sliced, you can pick up for $1.99 a pound, whereas cold cuts run almost $8 to $10 a pound.
Lovely Begonias, too. I have set a lot of seed on my patio and I’m eagerly awaiting their yield!

I’m learning about the water bath to easily remove the peach skin and cutting a cling perpendicular to the seam and twisting to remove the pit.

My peaches are only the size of grapes at the moment, but would I ever love to send them to you when ripe. They are so sweet and juicy, not at all designed for travel. In fact, I can’t give them and the apricots away fast enough; they spoil so quickly. A friend makes jam, and another freeze dries, so they get the bulk. Burros love them, but their gut doesn’t!
SzbLady, Peach and similar fruit pits are poison to animals – they contain cyanide – maybe that’s what the burros are telling you. Lost a dog once when a neighbor’s tree dropped fruit into the yard, and we didn’t know at the time of the danger.

Years ago, laetrile(b17), was derived from apricot pits and used as an alternative cancer treatment.
You can buy bitter apricot seeds (not pits) for cancer treatment today, which I did for my Sweeney. Not really sure if it helped him, but he lasted longer than expected.
Burros are really smart animals. Datura plants grow naturally all over the southwest. They are also known as Jimson weed, locoweed, and a few other things. We have them everywhere. They have beautiful white trumpet flowers in the daytime that close at night. Very very toxic to equids – also oleander. Our guys have always ignored them as though they don’t exist. Phew!
I’ve pretty much given up on most indoor plants because of toxicity to kitties.

I knew someone who was an athlete and would eat the apples, core and all. Never realized how dangerous that was.
Well, I’ll probably just get a rash from the peach fuzz blanching off the skins. We will see how I do.
If they are anything like the apples from last season which were trying to spoil overnight… my neighbors will be delighted with the gifting. And that’s okay too.
I make peach and apricot sauce (like apple sauce) and freeze it. Love peach crisp, but how much can a person eat before turning into a beached whale. The friends and neighbors we give to really seem to enjoy, so….win win. 🍑
Ohh, I so miss fresh apricots. Store bought, like the peaches are rock hard with zero flavor. I buy jars of All Fruit apricot jam to get the flavor I remember. Thankfully there is a home grown large peach orchard nearby. I’m waiting patiently for the peaches, plums, nectarines and giant juicy, sweet blackberries. Right now they have strawberries. Our farmer’s market opens tomorrow. Yippee!

Hey, GB!!! And so we are 😘👍🏻 I may have heard it first at uni. University of Texas Austin. Funny…one I DO remember hearing for the first time was Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuerez. My roommate had an LP and I wore the grooves off it. Interestingly as we’ve come to know one another here, I found that Garrison and I were at UT at the same time (he being in a teaching capacity while I was a lowly student). And we’ve worked out that we surely must have passed one another many many times while our lifes’@ paths crossed in Austin.
Those were indeed the days…ones I find myself being reminded of often with the music which our friends here post daily. With the selections come memories, some strong and some resurrected for the hearing of those songs from long ago.

You got me beat by two years. I graduated high school in June 1971, so this song came out either late freshman year or early sophomore year. It was a great tune. I am sure that the local garage bands in San Jose played it at our high school mixers.
Our sons both like music from that era. For Christmas, they bought us a nice new modern receiver, turntable and speakers. Our younger son came over last weekend and we played some of the old LPs of Grateful Dead, Cream, It’s a Beautiful Day, Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Doors, the Mark Almond Band, John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, plus some country-folk stuff like Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. He likes that authentic sound, with scratches and all.

Israel Update:
–President Trump is getting close to Israel again after some distance and upset with Bibi.
In a new interview with Time Magazine he gave two campaign promises. And I know that a word of Trump is iron. He does what he says when it’s possible!
“In the past I thought that it’s an idea that can succeed, and many people supported it. It became harder to apply”. He mentioned that the Palestinians are “educated to extreme hate which makes it a major barrier”.
This is exactly what I say. After a generation of de-radicalizing then we can talk about Two States. Not a minute before.
He is also getting closer to the Ex-Ambassador to Israel Mr.Friedman. This man is one of the greatest friends of Israel ever. He is an old friend of Trump.
He also suggested that “There are quite a few good leaders in Israel”. Suggested that Bibi is not necessarily the only one.
Many in Israel will be praying for Trump to get reelected.
In Ukraine they are scared. I just watched a video of Ukrainian soldiers burn an image of Trump. You will see it soon enough done by Palestinian too.
As a note: From my perspective I don’t like not Ukraine and not the Russians.
I don’t mean individuals. I mean historically as nations. Russia is now very pro-Hamas and Iran and have weaponized our enemies in all of our wars.
Ukrainians killed more Jews than any other nation aside for Germany. The Pogroms in the 1918-1921, over 100,000 people murdered, very brutal murders, sites that are similar to Hamas’s actions with rapes and torture. So while I have younger family who own a business in Ukraine and like them, historically we didn’t forget.
You see, I am looking at it from a completely different perspective than the US.
-The Chief of Staff gave 5 promotions and new appointments. Promotions to the levels of Generals. Strong criticisms in the Right. Rightly saying that he is complicit in the 10/7 failure and has no right to recreate the new command of the IDF.
He said that things must progress for proper function of the military.
He said that he chose those who showed excellence in the war. (Note: I don’t know them all but a few I do know and are really major heroes of this war).
The Right is afraid of political appointments of people who “think all the same.”
The Right complained that religious people get blocked from top positions because they are Conservatives.
But, three of the 5 new appointments are religious people.
He put someone over the West Bank who is likely a Conservative if you look at his religious education .
He chose someone who is questionable for the Head of military Intelligence.
I don’t know if he is not qualified. But he was a Head of Operations of the IDF on 10/7 and we don’t like anyone complicit. But from what I hear he was not complicit in the mess up. Not sure.
But the most important appointment in my opinion is of a man by the name Brigadier General Dan Goldfus. He Commanded Division 98 that fought in Khan Yunis Gaza.
They came with less air support and into the worst and most prepared Hamas areas and they performed amazingly well. They took over everything step by step. It is the Commando Division that has a few elite Brigades. The man also made a mistake one time and announced on the media that “The politicians should act in a way to deserve the warriors’ efforts and blood and Israel must unite”. He later apologized and got an official reprimand from his superior. But this man, regardless of his political positions which I don’t know, is a legend. You know in the old civilization of the Mongol Empire, the Emperor used to award his heroes a special title that carried a release from the death penalty several times in case he does anything wrong in his future.
Anyways, now General Dan Goldfus will command over the maneuver into Lebanon in a war against the Hezbollah. He is known to be a highly smart and cunning military leader.
This makes it news. News of importance and I feel good about this appointment. I will post a video or two about this man. I believe that his role may be historical in a case Israel maneuvers against the Hezbollah. He also “grew up” at the north Command and knows the area very well. The man came originally from the Navy Seals. Watch my videos later on.
-Bibi said that “he came to a decision to keep the war going to a victory despite all pressures, including Rafah”. He mentioned that there are disagreements inside and outside. I suspect that he suggested something about two in his War Cabinet (Benny Gantz and Gadi Eizenkot) who are more inclined left. If the deal with Hamas doesn’t happen and they consider it as his fault, they may leave the War Cabinet and Government. This will not by itself make the Government fall. It may even be good to get the lefties out.
Again, there is some skepticism about this statement because he dragged his feet so far and as I said: It will take a few weeks to evacuate the Rafah people and I don’t see anything happening yet.
At this point we’re still waiting for Hamas to answer. We are expecting an answer over the weekend. Rafah will be difficult as they are well prepared and booby trapped whole buildings.
We will need to be very fierce and carful.

Whenever possible, I want to share our collective “wins”.
The other day, daughter texted me from high school, she’s a Junior, and they were playing Christian music over the PA system again. The students don’t know for sure who selects the music of the day, but I’m encouraged to hear that a voice of sanity is present amongst the kids and offering them hope.
This is extremely counter to the propaganda pushed by the IN DOE.
The book she’s had forced on her now has many, many curse words, sex, the teen protagonist frustrated the boyfriend won’t have sex with her, and two pages written about her butt. My daughter and her work group assigned this book are appalled. I’ve instructed her to “reverse the flow”. When she is set upon doing her paper on the book, express explicitly how much she does NOT appreciate the content of the book and ask the teacher how much SHE would appreciate “F” you, “F” this, “F”, “F”, “F”… it is a garbage piece of literature affecting a garbage education and insulting the minds of our youth. This teacher has very young children, 5 and 8 years old… how will she feel when the propaganda reaches her?
It is exasperating, but I’m here to emphasize the WINS. The kids realize what is happening with the propaganda. They know and they can take the situation and turn it around in reverse proselytizing to express and assert their faith IN GOD… and they should at every turn.
I went to pick daughter up from work yesterday evening and as she was taking out the trash of the restaurant, she sees me and she just beams and smiles broadly at me. Freeing a hand to wave at me across the parking lot. She loves her job. It is low paying, but she really loves it and she’s happy there. Her hours have increased to 25 this week. She knows she could earn more, but job satisfaction and happiness with coworkers who are respectful matters. There are issues with management, but at her level the problems don’t exist as long as she doesn’t “get entangled”. Her mantra is to “help wherever possible”, so that she is doing.
As I sat there in the car, I realized how fortunate I am. My daughter is loving, helpful, compassionate, and her mind is set on what the LORD would think of today’s messes.
We’ve been enjoying the Little House on the Prairie box set dvds. The messages are so good and it weaves the Lord into various aspects of the stories. How do we carry Him with us at every turn and how do we see Him Divinely work and appear on our behalf?
It is time for the division, the separating of the wheat from the chaff. It’s where the men are called out of the boys, and the women called out of the girls.
I pray we each can stand tall as we go through our days and don’t just accept the ground we are on, but in our great and small ways… take ground.
Yesterday, it was her kissing her hand and tapping the door frames of the school to “claim it” for God. Today, it’s the PA system. Tomorrow let it be the students pushing back and returning the garbage curriculum and demanding better. Our kids so deserve and love to learn. They are worth the fight.
Say a little prayer for me as I have business stuff churning.
On another front, I’m watching the local government squeeze the little guys with 20 to 40% property assessment taxes levied that are forcing folks with fixed incomes to sell their homes. The land grab is extreme and it’s on. People are suffering for their voting choices.
A local fire station told me they can’t get weed control for their lawn, working hand held telephones, or light bulbs for their work area in their fire station. The money is coming from the firefighters pockets for essentials. The maintenance budget monies are being “reprogrammed” to support things the American taxpayer would not support. illegals.
The squeeze is on.

As we go on in intercession we may find that our obedience to God is going to cost other people more than we thought. Whenever we step back from identification with God’s interest in others into sympathy with them, the vital connection with God has gone, we have put our sympathy, our consideration for them in the way, and this is a deliberate rebuke to God.
It is impossible to intercede vitally unless we are perfectly sure of God, and the greatest dissipator of our relationship to God is personal sympathy and personal prejudice. Identification is the key to intercession, and whenever we stop being identified with God, it is by sympathy, not by sin. It is not likely that sin will interfere with our relationship to God, but sympathy will, sympathy with ourselves or with others which makes us say – “I will not allow that thing to happen.” Instantly we are out of vital connection with God.
Intercession leaves you neither time nor inclination to pray for your own “sad sweet self.” The thought of yourself is not kept out, because it is not there to keep out; you are completely and entirely identified with God’s interest in other lives.
Discernment is God’s call to intercession, never to fault finding.

GB Bari, as to your comment regarding my inquiry about Tulsi Gabbard, I have listened to about 8 hours of various podcast discussions with her – I like her from what I hear. I appreciate that she left the Democrat party, appreciate her 20 plus years of military service, she’s a Lieutenant Colonel, I think? She speaks plainly that there is bad infesting our military and the FBI, but sounds rationale in that we still are a nation of good people and we need to clean house.
I would love a local’s perspective on her service to the Hawaiian people.
I’m a Kari Lake fan for VP… but if we can’t have Kari… I am open to Tulsi bridging the gap. I think she could gather support of the “sleeper dems” who know what is happening with their party is off the rails. However, I think it “too late” for them, because they should stand up and speak out sooner.
But, swamp dwellers are swamp dwellers and they only care about re-election, as Victoria Spartz so eloquently spoke out about on her PBD podcast appearance the other day. (Patrick Bet-David) Victoria mentioned how these Washington ecolytes have never had a “real job” outside of government and thus they are completely out of touch with the American people. Their only goal is to raise cash to get re-elected and to hold on to power no matter what it takes. They fear turning on their own party, because they will lose positions on committees and thus funding for themselves and their district “pet” projects, which are often used just to funnel money into their own private businesses or NGO’s for use in nefarious activities.

I am a huge Kari Lake fan (thus my pup, Kari). I think the general feeling is that we need Kari in the US senate, and she has a good chance – absent the shenanigans present in her gubernatorial run.
I like much about Tulsi Gabbard, but I have concerns regarding some of her stances: on fracking, gun control, fossil fuels, transgenders in the military, free college, citizenship for DACA kids- to name a few.
I’d love for her to come out with very substantive and clear statements about these issues.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

I smoke cigarettes and an occasional cigar. A carton of premium brand cigs now costs over $92.00 after sales tax here in Indiana due to State mandated staged increases.
Tuesday while out running around taking care of other business I stopped in a smoke shop. Bought an electric cigarette machine, filtered tubes, and tobacco. The machine actually cost less than a carton of what we smoke. It takes about 2 hours to make 200 cigarettes (equivalent of a carton). It costs about $36.00 per 200 100 mm filter cigarettes. That’s about $3.60 a pack (20).
I sit an roll them while watching TV or having my morning coffee.
What tobacco?
What’s it taste like?
Probably free from the many chemicals?
Yes it is free from many chemicals. Nothing added to increase addiction.+. Nothing added to regulate the speed of the burn.
I suggest that if you smoke a certain brand that you go to a smoke shop with a person that can match you up with the right strength of tobacco and the right filter tubes to get as close as possible to what you enjoy.
Some tips. It takes a bit to learn how much tobacco to load for each cigarette. And it may take some trail and error to find the right combination of tobacco and filter tubes to match watch you like.
When rolling your own only take a small amount of the tobacco out of the sealed pouch at a time and then reseal the pouch. Roll your cigs. Try to even out the use of the fines over the whole batch. Fines pack. you’ll find stems that must be removed. The quantity of stems will depend on the quality of tobacco you buy.
Keep your tobacco from drying out. I use my cigar humidor but you can put an apple slice or a half and orange peel in the sealed pouch with the tobacco also. In fact you can give a flavor to your tobacco depending on the fruit you use to keep it moist.
This is not just novice me talking. I got advise from a friend that has been rolling his own for years before I jumped in. The $92+ price made me jump into it.

As a kid, when my grandfather would exhale you’d a thought he was in paradise. Go figure.
The smell of that and car gasoline just ain’t the same.

Oh BTW the tobacco is labeled as pipe tobacco to stay within the confines of the law. But it is made for rolling your own.
Red Odessa pipe tobacco is one of my favorites. I have a collection of pipes and can blow smoke rings.
I have grown Walker’s tobacco here in ID, it flowered and set seed. The seed is incredibly tiny, yet it makes a 4-5′ tall plant. The friend I gave some of the dried leaves to rolled a cigarette from them – once. After that he had to cut it with commercial tobacco (from the local Native tobacco stores/casinos) to reduce the strength.
Grid down, we can still have tobacco.
(I don’t smoke except for 3 days in college. Yuck!)

$92.00!!! When I quit smoking in late 1977, Winston 100’s had jumped from 60 cents to 65 cents in the individual vending machines in central MD. At about 2 packs per day, the habit just got too expensive since we had a new daughter to raise… I quit cold turkey and never went back.
Over the past 10 or 12 years the men in our family started enjoying some fine hand-rolled cigars with fine whiskey after every big family holiday meal. So maybe about 3 or 4 times per year I’ll puff a cigar with the guys. We go either in a garage or outside depending on the weather….the ladies appreciate it.
When I tried cigarettes in ninth grade they were 19 cents a pack. But if you got 19 cents worth of candy at the corner store you had a lot of candy. Since I have always loved candy the cigarettes lost out to my sweet tooth. Unfortunately I still have the sweet tooth, I try to keep it under control.
Wow. A Carton of Winstons are $45 bucks in Missouri. I did the rolling machine thing years a ago . I found it not to bad, but I found it difficult to pack the tobacco tight enough in those tubes

Those guys screwed up! Yes it’s ugly but not when you’ve got a Monk fish fillet on your plate. It is known as “poor mans lobster” and I actually prefer it to lobster. Best eating fish in the ocean IMO. But finding some place that serves it around here is the problem.
They sell monk fish frozen at the Saraga International Market in Castleton. If you’ve never been, it’s a field trip! The seafood department is outstanding with huge tanks of LIVE seafood swimming underneath the display cases. Take some time, though… you can walk around in there for hours. Every kind of international food you can imagine.
It has been about 5 years since I went to the mall there.

Our wren nest was abandoned. I think the robins and mocking birds raided it. We would chase them off if we saw them.
Four baby robins fledged yesterday to the neighbors hedgerow. We had heavy down pours throughout the night. Hoping they are OK.
I’m glad your robins made it out of the nest. I’m sure the rain didn’t hurt them.
Thousands of years of evolution has prepared them for all types of weather.
Hopefully the rain has brought some tasty earthworms to the surface
for some easy meals.
We’ve been getting a lot of rain so the the worms are prevalent in all the yards. My dogs don’t bother the robins. They all wander about together to share in the feast. Yes, my dogs eat dead worms.
