Kaliningrad is an enclave of Russia on the Baltic Sea, with a population of around 450,000 Russians. Kaliningrad is surrounded by NATO countries Lithuania to the north and Poland to the south.
Land access for Russia to Kaliningrad is a matter of treaties between Russia and Lithuania providing transit to the Russian enclave through Suwalski gap where railroads connect Kaliningrad to Belarus.
In an intentionally provocative move, the NATO alliance has now decided to use Lithuania to cut off access to Kaliningrad by land. The NATO alliance is saying this is part of their execution of economic sanctions against Russia by stopping the transport of goods and products through the Suwalski gap.
The blockade began today, and the Russian government is evaluating how to respond to this aggressive effort against Kaliningrad.
This action is being taken as the same time as EU NATO countries are threatening to rush NATO membership for Ukraine into place. There is no other way to look at this decision by NATO member states as anything except a deliberate effort to increase the likelihood of war between Russia and the western alliance.
(Via Daily Mail) – The Kremlin has threatened Lithuania after EU-sanctioned goods were blocked from reaching the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, fuelling fears of NATO being dragged into the war.
Moscow warned of ‘very tough actions’ against the Western security alliance member after deliveries of coal, metals, construction materials and advanced technology were stopped from entering the Russian territory. The Lithuanian chargé d’affaires in Moscow was told that unless cargo transit was resumed in the near future, Russia reserves the right to act to protect its national interests.
The Russian foreign ministry said: ‘We consider provocative measures of the Lithuanian side which violate Lithuania’s international legal obligations, primarily the 2002 Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the European Union on transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the Russian Federation, to be openly hostile.’
Loyalist senator Andrey Klimov warned it was ‘direct aggression against Russia, literally forcing us to immediately resort to proper self-defence’.
The head of the parliamentary sovereignty protection commission, he vowed that Russia would solve the blockade ‘in ANY way we choose’.
Any direct Russian attack on alliance member state Lithuania would be seen as an act of war against NATO and could spark a world war.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said his country was simply implementing sanctions imposed by the EU.
He said the measures implemented were taken after ‘consultation with the European Commission and under its guidelines.’
‘Sanctioned goods (will) no longer be allowed to transit Lithuanian territory,’ Landsbergis added.
The foreign ministry emphasised it has not imposed ‘unilateral, individual or additional’ restrictions.
But Russia disagrees, with Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying: ‘This decision is really unprecedented. It’s a violation of everything.’ (read more)
The western motive to provoke a war between NATO and Russia is transparent. In addition to the geopolitical ideology of the West against the country of Russia, the economic situation created by the Western alliance is tenuous.
Inflation is raging in all of the countries who followed the instructions of the World Economic Forum and the massive spending demanded within the pandemic response. The economies of the EU and the United States are now reflecting the results of those multinational corporation instructions known more colloquially as the Build Back Better agenda.
The Ukraine conflict is now being used as a cover story, an arbitrary justification, as politicians in Western government claim the Russian intervention into Eastern Ukraine is the source of the global economic problem. This is a false claim; however, it is being emphasized in a way that indicates fear on the part of the WEF member nation group, to the consequences of the economic damage now surfacing.
Traditionally, only two economic issues have ever been successful in stopping a large global recession: (1) war, and/or (2) housing starts. The approaches of the central banks, including the U.S. Federal reserve, have precluded housing starts from having any value to stop the global recession. That leaves ‘WAR’.
This is a very dangerous time as the Western alliance, driven by NATO following a predictable plan, is now positioning for an intentional war with Russia.
Strategically, Kaliningrad is to Russia as Alaska is to the United States. How would the United States respond if Canada blocked access to Alaska?
We are closer to a direct NATO conflict with Russia than ever before, and we are in this moment because Western government want that conflict.
The U.S. State Department, not the Pentagon, is leading us and the Western alliance into this war…. These are very dangerous moves.
(Reuters) – […] “If cargo transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the Russian Federation via Lithuania is not fully restored in the near future, then Russia reserves the right to take actions to protect its national interests,” it said.
Kaliningrad, formerly the port of Koenigsberg, capital of East Prussia, was captured from Nazi Germany by the Red Army in April 1945 and ceded to the Soviet Union after World War Two. It is sandwiched between NATO members Poland and Lithuania. (read more)
The only saving grace at this point … So long as there is no Naval Blockade nor NO FLY Restrictions over the Baltic denying entry from the North, the Russians can stick to non-military options as a response. They have the shipping and aircraft to switch to sea-air shipments.
So, do not leap to war drums just yet.
This too may backfire on NATO in allot of ways, in the same way the sanctions have not done so well.
I concur. Did the Berlin blockade lead to WWIII? Should Lithuania allow Russian trucks through its territory? Could such trucking operations be a trojan horse for a Russian invasion?
Russia should easily be able to supply via shipping from St. Petersburg (they supplied Leningrad via Lake Ladoga in WWII).
So, this doesn’t necessarily lead to war. If NATO slaps a naval blockade, that would be problematic. But isn’t Russia threatening to nuke Europe from the Kaliningrad enclave?
Not all steps against Russian aggression leads to war. But the concern is valid as NATO does not seem willing to end the Ukraine war, which at this point would be prudent.
“Could such trucking operations be a trojan horse for a Russian invasion?”
If you were Lithuanian, would you take that risk?
Huh?
We got a fellow proposing somehow that shutting down the Suwalski Gap would invite Russian truck convoys directly through Lithuanian territory to supply the enclave that Lithuania already cut off and that the rascally Rooskies would apparently only be doing so to sneak in an invasion force.
Sufficiently disingenuous on multiple levels to come across as silly at best.
Nevermimd him, he’s reliving the Cold War in his head.
Agreed … for now. It is an excalation nevertheless.
i agree, russia can just work around it.and i think putin knows we need war to cure the inflation so he will do whatever it takes to see we implode without firing a shot.is he still supplying any european countries with oil or natural gas?if so time to cut em off.funny how he has germany refiring their coal plants.so much for the green new deal/build back better when you need electricity.
Democrats need a war to distract Americans from the destruction of our economy and save the 2022 election.
And historically, this has worked every time. Look at the election results in 1962 and 2002 for a measure of just how well it works.
Most of the GOP members of Congress also want war with Russia.
That’s right – all this crap has been bipartisan in all our countries.
You hit the nail on the head.
Too bad the Dems do not realize if Russia is provoked, a real war will only last for about 90 minutes….and there will be no winners.
well – maybe China – if the wind carrying the fallout goes in the right direction
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save with the world in a grave. Eve Of Destruction
Mis-spelled votes. When they need votes. Germans are not happy campers.
IMO, Putin does not want to see the United States implode as much as Putin wants to see the Globalist and the Biden administration to implode. Putin wants to see an economically prosperous United States for which to do business. …. Trump wants the same thing with Russia as Trump does with other Nations including China.
There is a difference between “fair trade” and stupid trade. Putin and Xi know the difference and are taking advantage of “stupid trade”. I can’t say that I blame them. I can say that Democrat run anything always ends up “stupid”.
Truly stupid separates them from the rest. Liberals excel in witless emotion like a bird taking to the sky. In fact when you look up stupid in the dictionary you’ll see a picture of an ugly bugger eating nitwit wearing a tee-shirt that says “Gender Neutral”.
The stupid runs deep in the lot of them.
Makes you wonder if Trump, like Lurch did w Iran, is conducting ‘talks’ with his foreign leader friends about the situation and how to thwart the current USA Installed Government clumsy initiatives.
A little bit of related history from the Cold War days.
There was actually an agreement between Western Europe and WARSAW Pact nations (including the USSR) regarding the shipment of goods via “sealed” trucks, train cars and air cargo containers marked with a TIR sign and having appropriate documents in hand.
The agreement essentially allowed passage of properly marked and documented goods without interruption via properly sealed means, without being opened.
I can recall TIR vehicles crossing back and forth without fear of being opened and inspected.
So, the “Ukraine War” is not even a legitimate excuse for the Blockade.
Also, there was this interesting license plate called SMELEM. They were official Soviet Military Observers allowed to move around Europe with impunity.
You are missing the point. The Russians will definitely ship out of St. Pete, but they have to do more when confronted in so in your face a manner with this kind of provocation. There are many different options at their disposal; they may not retaliate in a way that triggers war with NATO, but I assure you that they will retaliate.
Yes, as the U.S. retailated for the Berlin blockade. You can also argue this may prevent war if Russia wanted to use the truck convoys for further expanding the conflict into the Baltic States.
The Biden administration blundered or allowed Russia to invade Ukraine. Do we now offer “no” resistance to Russia while supplying 40 billion in aid to Ukraine? I oppose the aid, and would prefer things to wind down, but it is too soon to say limiting land shipping to Kaliningrad leads to WWIII. This is problematic, but I also think that the Internet likes to peddle in panic porn for clicks.
Are you even paying attention?
Russia does not want to expand the war, Washington does.
Russia didn’t want the Ukrainian war, Washington does.
Washington has done all it can to ensure that war was necessary and unavoidable, and clearly is seeking to continue and expand it with endless provocations and war mongering.
Since the instigation of the conflict the West and their Ukrainian war criminal puppets have proven that the word of the West is worse than worthless and that a limited engagement with a negotiated settlement is impossible and even suicidal as the West and it’s murderous intrigues will never end.
Washington has doomed the entirety of Ukraine to being completely overtaken and carefully gutted and dismembered as it is essential for Russia’s very survival.
All the details have been presented here by Sundance and many astute Treepers for some time now, and none of it has been about panic porn, especially for clicks. CTH is a special place that transcends the rando nature of the internet and you can expect umbrage to be taken when it is slighted in that fashion.
No offense intended, but you seem kinda noob.
A land blockade of Kaliningrad doesn’t lead directly to WWIII. Russia can supply Kaliningrad from the sea. I’ve have seen many sites besides CTH yelling WWIII, WWIII, if NATO even attempts any resistance. We supplied weapons to the Taliban, and it didn’t lead to WWIII. If we do nothing, i.e., appease, do you think that Putin won’t try to expand, and maybe even take back the Baltics, Poland, E. Germany, France (actually taking France and Ger. might not be a bad idea), ect. It would be great if the NATO governments wound this war down, but it does not seem to be happening in the short-term.
That said, you are correct that some elements of the West (our State Department) seem to want us in a shooting war. I was glad when Poland did NOT supply jets to the Ukraine, at Blinkin’s suggestion. I see no good actors here, Ukraine is corrupt, Russia is corrupt, and U.S. politicians are corrupt. Why did Congress give 40 billy to Ukraine? Because a great deal of that money will be routed back to the U.S. politicians. That is why the U.S. has foreign aid, to buy off the political class.
Antagonism and instigation lead to bloody noses and then all bets are off.
So, should we produce more oil? If the U.S. produces more oil, isn’t that antagonistic to Putie because it lowers the cost of oil and reduces Russian revenue to fund their war? What happens if Putie threatens nukes if we produce more oil, appease? Trump threatened to bomb Moscow if Putie invaded Ukraine, and guess what, Putie didn’t invade. Trump also produced oil. And we didn’t have WWIII.
Not all actions lead to WWIII. Putie ain’t a saint. Unfortunately, our current leadership is full of vile incompetents. But there are some steps short of WWIII that don’t appease.
Shut off the flow of everything to the EU.
Im sort of shocked Sundance didnt think of this, or mention it.
Ill assume he knows that air is still the best option to avoid conflict. NATO cannot dominate the airspace in that part of the world as it stands right now.
They know this. Russia knows it.
Its just more poking the Bear, and see how it reacts…
Im going to go out on a limb and say, these WEF/NATO clowns, dont have a death wish, and if they do keep poking this Bear, there is no place to hide or run.
Ruling over the ashes aint as much fun as they think it is.
They are nihilists!
If Sundance detailed every potential second third and fourth order consequence of all the actions he is noting he would never cease typing and we would never see his output.
He has us to fill in and expand as we are able and it seems to be somewhat ingracious to not appreciate that he has left some crumbs for us to discover and a wonderful place to share them.
Of course it’s more poking of the Bear, that foolishness has been relentless, and those prosecuting this war and seeking it’s expansion have no concern for the deaths they are inviting, none.
They are evil incarnate and believe themselves to be above consequence and at the end of the day Marx’s Sons of Satan would happily shrug their shoulders and smile knowing that they have ensured the rest of humanity is going down with them.
I’m sure we will be in a war formally, but I doubt that anything bad will be done by any major state actor to another major state actor.
Russia, China, Iran, and maybe North Korea all I have things they want to take that are forseen in this plan. Saudi Arabia is certainly a real Target. The combination of oil and Mecca make it irresistible. Adding that oil to the Russian and Iran resources will guarantee European acquiescence. And probably also neutralize Japan.
But if any Americans are committed to war overseas, the Biden Administration and probably with the connivance of the Pentagon, will make sure that the one sent are those they want out of the country anyway. What u.s. military forces are left inside the United States will be predominantly made up of ‘dreamers’, gangbangers, and the worst of the illegals now being brought in en masse.
The biggest Factor paper in our side is that large cities do not produce food or fuel. Please remember that the Patriots at Lexington and Concord did not March into Boston to take on general Gage where he was strong. They drove him out with a Blockade.
[Minor correction: “Kaliningrad” means “Kalinin City,” so named by the Soviets in 1947 in honor of Mikhail Kalinin on the ruins of the former Königsberg.]
This is extremely dangerous for Lithuania as it violates the 1993 treaty on transportation. Kaliningrad Oblast is considered to be Russia by Russian law (and so recognized by NATO countries, even Germany), so any embargo against goods moving from Russia to Russia is illegal. It’s also provocative as hell.
You beat me to that correction by five minutes. Little Russia or Malorossiya (Малоросиья) is a Russian descriptor for an area in Eastern Ukraine
I don’t want the US to win this war because I believe our government uses the Ukraine for criminal activity, and in ways that harm the average American. Most likely we won’t win anyway because we haven’t won any wars since WWII.
That being said, Russian control of Koenigsburg, thousand year old capital city of German East Prussia, is ridiculous, and a WWII relic. But of course Russia’s Baltic Fleet prefers Kaliningrad Oblast in the southern Baltic to Kronstad near St. Petersburg in the Gulf of Finland, for logistical reasons.
It doesn’t matter that the city once known as ‘Königsberg’ was the capital of a no-longer existing region. The lesson here is: don’t lose a war. The winners make history, the survivors write it, and the losers whine about it.
LGN is transported by very specialized, high-pressure ships. Not easy to build and require “de-liquification” equip to use the gas at the destination. Also very hard to build.
One torpedo into a high-pressure, floating propane tank and………kaboom.
This was posted by a fellow treeper a couple days ago.
This is what he posted with the video:
What he spoke about rang lots of my spidey sense bells.
Seems to be right in line with what Sundance is telling us here.
I had never heard of Gonzalo Lira II so I cannot vouch for his integrity or not.
He says several times that he’s been demonetized so he’s not making any money on this video.
It’s a video directed to All Americans.
He says he is in Ukraine at the moment he is making the video.
can’t edit for some reason
anyhoo, delete this sentence:
This is what he posted with the video:
Thank you for posting this. I referred to it in an earlier post but didn’t have the link. It was excellent.
Lira is the real deal.
Not given to hyperbole, contemptuous of the West with good reason which he expresses without bile, smart, and a good analyst with solid predictive skills.
Seems a right decent chap.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we got along?
I have been saying for decades that it’s not the people of any nation that is the problem, it’s their respective governments, including our own.
Back in March, I believe it was, Putin was giving an interview. At the end of it he turned and looked into camera and addressed the people in the West, making it very clear it was not us he was attacking but rather those Western nation’s governments which had pushed and prodded and incited and provoked the actions he was taking. I doubt many saw it. But I did.
And after all we’ve learned over the past couple of years about our foul government, and thanks to Sundance’s astute analyses, I believed him absolutely.
Agree, Maquis. What does he have to gain from doing these videos and reporting? Absolutely nothing that I can perceive.
And yes, it would be lovely if we could get along. Alas…
He’s a grifter—figured that once I recognised at least some of his anecdotes and ‘analysis’ were lifted from other people.
It particularly mystifies me how anyone can take Gonzalo Lira seriously when he retweets {link} a neo-Nazi attempting to exculpate the original Nazis; then justifies {link} the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, ignoring the reasons for the US oil embargo (Japanese occupation of French Indochina in support of their attempt to conquer China—and in a manner so brutal as to appal even Nazis {link}).
As Nietzsche famously wrote, ‘He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into the abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.’ (Beyond Good and Evil (1886)).
Sadly, some champions of many causes go too far and end up mirror images of their opponents. So it is with Lira: to criticise, oppose, desire the fall of, modern Western governments is justifiable—arguably our duty; but to go beyond that, to condemn everything the West has done in history, to always side uncritically with our enemies, is neither reasonable nor justifiable. At this point, Lira is the mirror image of those neocon Russophobes in the West, painting Russia’s actions past and present in the blackest possible light, promoting hatred of the Russian nation and people; so Lira does the same to the West. Both parties cultivate a war of extermination.
No country is entirely free of sin or error; but the European nations and peoples—including Russia—have done more good than harm. We have much to be proud of in our past, and I do not accept the current misconduct of treasonous political Establishments across the West require me to reject my own country in its entirety along with my European heritage; indeed, it is my love and pride in our past that informs my shame at our present.
He states his fear is us doing nothing ever, me thinks he is on to something.
He has a checkered past. I would call him a con man based on some of his past behavior, and prior to the SMO he was running a Fight Club-style hostel.
However, he has been insightful on the Russia-Ukraine issue. Just remember he is a self-promoter and a bit of a showman.
Sources please.
It’s very hard to come up with sources, because most them are virulent attacks on him for being a “pro-Russian” shill, which he is not, and because most search results are related the period he was missing.
For those interested, I’d encourage you to look into “Wiltshire Boulevard,” a book he crowd-funded and never released. I’d also encourage you to look into his “Coach Red Pill” era, when he was making waves among the involuntary celibate (incel) and Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) communities. Again, a lot of the search result are going to be biased against him and those groups. Nonetheless you will get a sense of some of the things he was saying about women a few years ago, things he either believes or was pretending to believe in order to solicit donations.
I want to make it clear I do not hate Lira, and that his observations on the current situation in Ukraine have been interesting and overall accurate. But he tends to move from online community to online community drumming up attention for himself. That is something I believe people experiencing his content for the first time should be aware of.
Yes, never read anything like that about Mr. Lira.
He is well-respected by his colleagues.
My husband and I watched this not 2 hours ago. Then came here to see almost the same news. If you are prayin’ folks, this is something we need to be praying and fasting over.
The thing is….he has not been wrong since the start…….. and think about it….. which MSM news channel do you think is telling the truth right now??
No one tells this guy….he tells you and logically…… why it is that way.!
Gonzalo has been a voice of sanity. He lives in Kharkiv in Ukraine and was arrested a month ago by the Ukrainian side and held in detention. All of his accounts were taken over thus making it hard for him to broadcast. He is very spot on with this message of what we are being dragged into. He is on The Duran News quite often with on the ground analysis of what is happening in Eastern Ukraine. He also is not allowed to leave the city but is still able to get information out.
Definitely one I pray for.
He says Russia invaded Ukraine in February because the Ukrainian army was poised to invade the Donbas and Russia.
Am I missing something? Isn’t Donbas part of Ukraine? And why would Ukraine invade much larger and more powerful nuclear-armed Russia?
After he said that, I stopped listening.
“In every war, the first casualty is the truth”
Sundance (@TheLastRefuge2) just tweeted this article out👇
Russia takes more Donbas towns,
Zelensky warns of intensification
https://nypost.com/2022/06/20/russia-takes-2-more-donbas-towns-as-zelensky-warns-of-increasing-attacks/?utm_medium=SocialFlow&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter
You’ve missed a tremendous amount, clearly.
Novorossiya, the Eastern portion of Ukraine, is almost exclusively Russian speaking people of Russian extraction, and Ukraine has been waging war on them with literal Nazi forces since they announced their wishes to be independent after the 2014 US instigated and directed coup in Kiev installed an illegitimate president.
Subsequently the Minsk Accords were negotiated and Ukraine has steadfastly ignored them while genociding a portion of their population and diverting a river to deny its waters to Crimea. They were indeed poised for a “Final Solution” like full scale military incursion into the Donbass.
Washington also littered the land with Bio-labs focused on the Russian population on a genetic level and has done everything in their power to make Ukraine a menace of unimaginable degree to Russia and its diaspora.
After he said that, I stopped listening.
“In every war, the first casualty is the truth”
In every thread, feigned misunderstanding and refusal to listen is the first assault on truth.
Maquis: Thanks for clarifying. If I understand correctly:
Donbas is part of Ukraine, but separatists there aligned with Russia have been fighting a sort of civil war with the Ukrainian government for years. Check.
But what about the claim by Gonzaolo Lira II that the other reason Russia invaded Ukraine in February was because Ukraine was supposedly about to invade Russia? That seems highly unlikely. Care to offer a comment on that?
There are a lot of layers in threads, “what is truth?”*. You mention a couple. There’s also hubristic types posting, who think they have superior knowledge etc., who believe they can read what lies behind other posts but are frequently dead wrong. In fact, historically, such hubris has caused offense escalating to major conflicts from time to time – ironic that we see it in this thread about a war.
(* Pontius Pilate)
Hubristic. That’s a new one for me, shall I wear it with pride? 😉
Honestly there are many folks here who strive for value added commentary, many of whom have vast knowledge and experience and a life long love of learning, and we greatly value this community where we find people we can learn from and people we can share our understandings with.
I have a desire to defend this site I treasure, its righteous intentions, and the wonderful intelligent good-hearted folks that post here and that instinct leads me to challenge criticism that seems to demean or minimize the contributions others make here. There is room to differ and we are better for it, but all too often there are agendas.
You might be surprised how many agents of dissimulation come here to subtly cast shade, divert attention and to agitate.
NATO since 1991 has steadfastly ignored its pledge to not move further East. That same year Dick Cheney announced that NATO and the US must break up Russia, not the already dissolved Soviet Union, but Russia itself, into countless pieces and “de-colonize” it, yes, he used that word, and wrest and divide its resources.
It appears that Bush I’s NWO has steadily progressed towards that goal. The corruption in Ukraine is epic, far surpassing that of Russia. The CIA has managed the OUN, the Ukrainian Nazis who were active before Hitler, since the end of WWII, and they are rabidly anti-Russian and the prime forces prosecuting the persecution of destruction of the Russia loving peoples of Donbass.
Russia lost 27 million lives in WWII and Ukraine played a most destructive role in that. They have been making themselves the willing vassals of players more vile than their own leaders and threatening Russia in many ways, including with Obama’s Bio-labs working on bio-weapons focused on the Russian populace and genome.
No matter how implausible the threat to Russia may seem to those of us outside of it and so far away from the frontier, to Russia it had become existential, far from being in their minds, it was quite literally on their doorstep on the very military highway that last almost toppled their land.
Truth has no agenda. We do our best here to work it out.
“Agents of dissimulation”…..that one’s going in my memory bank. 😀
😊
Have you even heard the words maidan, euro-maidan, right sector, azov, odessa’s massacre, shelling of donesk, etc?
Mr. Lira is an independent journalist who has been in Ukraine for some time.
His reporting and analysis are respected by many other independent journalists.
Check out The Duran~the entire website. Excellent reporting and analysis. Be sure to watch one or more of Alex Christoforou’s excellent daily update videos.
Here is a June 14 interview with Mr. Lira:
https://theduran.com/russia-ukraine-china-taiwan-nato-w-gonzalo-lira-live/
The west must feel very confident of the outcome in their favor.
China is liking their lips.
Precisely. China will invade Taiwan when we become bogged down in eastern Europe. The worst case scenario is a preemptive strike on US weapons stores in Guam.
That would be catastrophic, for both sides. There would be no walking that one back.
It would surely go south in a hurry.
I so wish I could agree.
Yet Washington is China’s vassal.
Kissinger created the monster that created WEF, same as he created the modern China to dominate the globe; the WEF and the NWO wants the resources of Russia, and nobody covets the vast resources of sparsely inhabited Russia than does their resource poor neighbor China, from whom those territories were taken long ago.
Dot-dot-dot-ad infinitum.
World War Xi.
Methinks China has been convinced to look south instead.
Why get into a fight with Russia, which is a good trading partner, when you can have Australia instead (with a little schadenfruede on the side for taking it away from the British Empire, and get a little revenge for the Era of Humiliation)?
Gunboat Diplomacy – but in reverse.
Boomerang right back atcha Prince Charles.
China, by the way, now has the largest navy in the world, with the launch of it’s new aircraft carrier. I think the UK has not even one.
Yeah, Australia is in a perilous spot, but that won’t sate China.
I believe they are trying to play Russia, and Russia knows it but have no choice but to pretend to be allies.
I think the Dragon hopes to savor the Bear last.
Our idiots in the US State dept have convinced themselves that we can win a nuclear war. Putin and Xi both know that they are up against corrupt idiots. We need to do more than just pray.
NATO is a trouble maker, the US military at high levels is as bad or worse. The US has no business in any of this and the people are past the point of correcting the course.
And is the course correctable?
The course isn’t correctable. Plans already existing, together with contingences. All the decision are being made already. In the past a nuclear war was feared, not any more. That’s the difference. It’s enough for only one side to abandon the fear of it to trigger a full participation of every one else. Few years back, Putin warned the enemies of Russia, that Russians aren’t afraid to die, because they go strait to Heaven/Paradise and the others just die. It’s unnerving to hearing it from the leader of a nuclear power. What made him say it?
NATO is “delinquent”. This is 100% US. NATO does what the US wants them to do.
2 days ago Powell said rapid changes to global money system are in play.
Russia + Chyna are near or ready to bypass the ” Swift ” payment system.
I think I read this on @DoombergT or Zerohedge.
The dollar seems to be moving away from being the world’s reserve currency. Serious consequences.
Guaranteed.
By design.
Only if you are American…the party is over……
Saudi is not interested in the USA any more…. since the embargo against Russia…. you do not have to pay them in dollars any more……. The “BRIC’s’ countries are just setting up an alternative to Swift its almost finished…
Now you can pay with Chinese…Russian currency and gold….. so the percolator has its days numbered.
“The U.S. State Department, not the Pentagon, is leading us and the Western alliance into this war…. “
And if it does not favor the State Department’s efforts to trigger World War III, what is the Pentagon doing to counteract the State Department?
Is the Pentagon too busy protecting America’s southern border from invasion? Nope that is certainly not it.
Too busy polishing self-awarded medals and worshiping a rainbow flag.
Oh! I see why they are so busy!

You can bet they are not teaching them the US Constitution.
When the receive their commission they won’t even be able to pass a simple test on it and most couldn’t even get 5 out of 10 on a test on the Bill of Rights.
Pentagon IS THE power!
The Pentagram is too busy protecting their select Protected Species from hurt feelings. Get back to ya later on that ‘warfighting’ thing.
There is no Pentagon. What you have in the military, from the rank of colonel or rear admiral on up is a collection of far-left political butt kissers. Remember, at a certain rank, appointments must be approved by Congress. Competence is not prized at this level; proven corruptibility is the gold standard.
So now “we” have instituted a seige on a Russian polity.
When do “we” round up their descendants here?
I understand camps are already prepared . . .
No protracted war [or series of wars] can fail to endanger the freedom of a democratic country. War does not always give over democratic communities to military government, but it must invariably and immeasurably increase the powers of civil government ; it must almost compulsorily concentrate the direction of all men and the management of all things in the hands of the administration. If it does not lead to despotism by sudden violence, it prepares men for it more gently by their habits [which become the habits of cattle and sheep]. All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and the shortest means to accomplish it. This is the first axiom of the science.
.- Alexis de Tocqueville
Soggy Bottom to be fumigated.

NATO provoking war to justify the great reset and Russia benefits from war. Sounds like a win win to me.
We should hope Russia benefits.
In order to survive.
The NWO covets all she has.
Darth Cheney so declared three decades ago.
It seems easy to type those words.
If a nuclear war ever came to pass, residing where I now do, well, that would mean that every single person I love and care about, would die. All of them. 9 grand kids too. The base 1 mile away is an absolute target, no question.
I guess a win is good if you aint got skin in the game. Seems pretty flippant to post something like this.
I would prefer no one gets vaporized, myself included, thanks. I agree with the premise, Ill agree to disagree, it is ” win win”.
Agreed.
The West supported an attack on oil platforms in the Black Sea. Contact your representatives and demand they stand down.
Who will cap the wells? What will the environmentalists say now?
They will say it is Bush’s fault
well, actually a lot of this IS Bushs’ (all three of them) fault
What’s crazy is that Ukraine claims those are their oil platforms. So why bomb them if they are your own. Question everything.
edit
Russia should just use the biggest ships in a convoy to go right in to port.
Will happen, but Russia will not stop there. They have to respond, or the next provocation will be even more reckless.
Gonzalo Lira warned about this provocation this weekend, how dangerous a move it is. He addressed his talks to the Americans because behind all this is the Americans. I see the bloody hands of the Biden administration and the grifters among the defense contractors, Congress, Zelensky et al, European Union, NATO, CIA, Soros, globalists, WEF. They will do anything to defeat Russian independence.
They are losing in every way – economically, politically, and militarily. They look like losers, too.
I hope that Putin institutes an air lift and possibly a sea lift to supply Kaliningrad, like the Berlin airlift that broke the Russian blockage in Berlin. That Putin will not allow these grifters to pull him into an expensive war and will not allow them to get out of their own puddles they made of their countries.
nato countries led by this SICK fraudulent non-administration will not be happy u til they’ve split this Planet in half with their precious ww3
I wonder if Russia provides oil and gas to Lithuania. If so I assume they’d cut off supply in response to them breaking their treaty with Russia.
In the meantime no Western media has reported nor condemned Ukraine forces shelling and terrorizing their own citizens for the past 3 weeks, killing many, destroying homes, businesses, etc. Donetsk along with other areas.
It’s infuriating! My heart goes out to those Ukrainians with deep gratitude to Patrick Lancaster @youtube.com one of few Independent journalists who are brave enough to report the truth. He’s been in the ground during these non-stop attacks. His videos are harrowing…absolutely heartbreaking watching and listening to the citizens under fire.
“I wonder if Russia provides oil and gas to Lithuania. If so I assume they’d cut off supply in response to them breaking their treaty with Russia.”
You realize Kaliningrad’s gas supplies are piped through Lithuania, right?
So when Kaliningrad gets no gas through Lithuania does Putin declare war on Lithuania for blockading gas supplies to Kaliningrad?
I heard about this yesterday. Not a peep anywhere in the MSM.
Sanctions have been in place for weeks. Why wait till now? When Ukraine is on the verge of surrender?
The United States should be negotiating a settlement agreement between Ukraine and Russia not throwing gasoline on the fire! It should have never gotten to an armed conflict in the first place!
True that. But, where’s the money in a peace agreement?
A cynic would say that polling data show a real lack of interest in Ukraine among the American electorate, so they are trotting out a ploy that they have been holding in reserve to try and distract voters from the economic catastrophe that is FJB by giving them an even bigger crisis abroad to worry about.
This is far more than distraction.
This is destruction.
Deliberate.
“We are closer to a direct NATO conflict with Russia than ever before, and we are in this moment because Western government want that conflict. ”
Stolen elections have consequences!
Especially when stolen by a puppet of China.
Russia has advised that they are able to bring their material (normally construction material, etc.) to Kaliningrad, by sea. Lithuania advised that the refusal to allow the usual rail service was abiding by the ‘sanctions’. Geesh.
NATO is a defensive alliance. Lithuania has just committed an act of war. Sounds legalistic, but NATO is about responding to attacks, not making them.
Russia has undoubtedly gamed this out. I wouldn’t expect a sudden response, but US recklessness is breathtaking here.
Russia should level Lithuania. They should treat Lithuania like the US military treats anyone that gets in the way of profits – indiscriminate bombing of civilians and civil infrastructure.
Really? Like Russia is levelling Ukraine after Russia invaded them. Talk about escalating into a multi-country war in Eastern Europe.
The US does not indiscriminately bomb civilians and infrastructure. I can’t believe you would suggest this.
Over a decade ago there was this tv show on Faux called “Shock and Awe”. It was really exciting with generals providing color commentary, instant replay, halftime interviews and everything.
Only bad thing was the ugly cheerleaders – Hannity, O’Reilly etc
Baghdad was virtually carpet bombed back to the stone age.
People at home were waving their US flags while the poor Iraqis were scurrying all about in the destruction.
“The US does not indiscriminately bomb civilians and infrastructure.” Wrong.
Guess you haven’t read much about the US carpet bombing of Iraq. Civilians, schools, hospitals, children, whoever. The US didn’t care. When 60 minutes pointed out that a half million Iraqi children had been killed – more than from Hiroshima – and asked Madeleine Albright if it was worth it, she answered, “I think that is a very hard choice, but the price, we think, the price is worth it.” Killing children in Iraq was worth it even though there were no weapons of mass destruction in the country, but we had to have a war.
Russia is not leveling Ukraine and are refraining as much as possible hitting civilian areas. They are destroying troops and troops concentrations. It is Ukraine who is leveling the Donbas, shelling civilian areas of Donetsk daily, hitting civilian run platforms in the Black Sea.
Agreed in full.
Still, I do find the original post suggesting such destruction should happen to be bizarre.
I wish that were true. But then there was that little slaughter in Afghanistan to distract from the negligent sacrificing of our Marines at the airport. And Obama’s secret murder drone list. There are, sadly, other examples. Our masters are simply evil.
“This action is being taken as the same time as EU NATO countries are threatening to rush NATO membership for Ukraine into place.”
This is news to me.
Finland and Sweden are being considered for NATO membership but Ukraine is not.
Kaliningrad can be supported by sea from Saint Petersburg but any naval vessels operating from there will have to endure the scrutiny of NATO candidates, Helsinki and Stockholm.
After witnessing the Moskva’s fate, Baltic states have now added antiship missiles to their shore batteries. Few ships have the anti missile capabilities of a Slava-class cruiser, so it appears that sinking less capable Russian ships will be an easy task.
Aggressiveness invites opposition and Putin has made many enemies.
He can respond with increased violence but his depleted army has no chance against the superior numbers and armaments of the NATO alliance.
It’s EU membership that’s supposed to be rushed not NATO
Correct
Is that you Old Realist?
That’s the other sock.
One for each foot…just like all the well-dressed men wear.
Marquis de Sock…didn’t you have a French ancestor?
Your moral blindness has caused you to mistake me for another.
“How would the United States respond if Canada blocked access to Alaska?”
They would probably send twinkle socks flowers and a thank you card.
A strongly worded letter from Trey Gowdy!
Canada *has* blocked access to Alaska. We can only access Alaska by sea, just like the Russians can do in Kaliningrad.
Why don’t we invade Canada for this unseemly provocation and annex British Columbia and Yukon?!
The Foggy Bottom State Department, once more into the fray for no good reason (except to hide incompetence).
Seems I remember reading that tax rates were 80% or more during WWII. Lots of tyrannical stuff can happen in a world war. This regime has no conscience. This regime wants global governance. WWII got us halfway there. WWIII could take us all the way. However, not sure we can win WWIII.
In the end, we are an aggressive avaricious pawn.
China does think they can win WWXi.
Our winning isn’t in their cards, they’ve seen to it that we couldn’t if we wanted to.
Good point.
I’ve seen WWII ration books.
War. Just in time to implement rationing of goods, gas, and electricity.
Nato, aka the US. The EU countries prefer we do the heavy lifting. They will offer token support. Can’t get their hands dirty. This will be the end of nato when Russia makes them feel the real pain.
Biden will allow chaos.
They will use either a war with Russia or monkey pox as an excuse to stop the mid term elections. The deep state KNOW they are going to lose bigly. All planned. All coordinated. Keep praying.
0bama doesn’t mind pushing towards WWIII with Joe Biden taking the arrows. He wasn’t man enough to do this when he was POTUS for 8 years.
If the EU really cared about ordinary people they would be doing their utmost to secure a peace settlement. Had my late father and mother’s only brother – who ended up in a German POW camp – known what was going to be happening today in the EU they would not have volunteered to fight for the Allies.
As far as I am concerned..
Poot can light the big candles and give us all a Glowing Alien Probing.
I’m done with My Nazi Sympathying Govt, illegal aliens, teenth this teenth that, rainbow colored hair people, pedo sympathyzers and cross dressing pedo fruit cakes.
Let the Fire and Radiation purify all in its own glorious way.
And those that survive…well cleanse the Nazi Survivors and there adherents.
FITA
A little clarification. The linked article says this is a Lithuanian led blockade, not a NATO blockade. Lithuania is a NATO country, but the defense article doesn’t include when a NATO country is the aggressor. The question is, would NATO consider a blockade an offensive move against Russia? NATO could go either way (or even split), but it is not automatic.
No, no, c’mon now, you know better than that, NATO is just a defensive alliance, it’s never reached out and bombed anyone else.
Anything these government assholes do from here on ain’t for nuthin’ or nobody but themselves. The FEDGOV suckers love power, money. luxury. Their motto: “Whoever dies with the most toys wins.” FEDGOV employs ruthless, cunning, shallow people. Tadpole shallowness. Spiritual, moral, ethical degeneracy is FEDGOV writ large.
The globalists are here admitting they’ve been lying re Ukraine, and have lost.
I’m guessing russia will go slow re Lithuania, but this illegal blockade will have them fulfilling all strategic goals in Ukraine, taking the entire coastline, destroying all military infrastructure, and forcing that entire eastern army to surrender.
In other words, this reckless action has removed any incentive for negotiations, and extended the war.
War. Inflation. Shortages of.food, energy, etc. Banking runs. Staged “insurrections,” likely 25th Am crisis. Satan has been busy.
Putin has the deep state by the balls. They had all their eggs in one stinky basket called Ukraine.
The agreement between Putin and Biden, or whoever is handling Biden, on how to handle this was made long ago.
I think we will certainly be in a war before very long, but whether it is with Russia over Ukraine and Lithuania or Poland, or Iran over Saudi Arabia, or China over Taiwan, or some combination of the three I cannot predict. What I am certain of is that we will be in some War, so that it will be too dangerous for the United States to hold real elections this November, or probably ever again.
We have to look at what is going on in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world in context. Biden and the Democrats know that they cannot win an election again, maybe ever, so they just are not going to have any… or at least no real ones. Biden belongs to our enemies. It is all a setup.
We will have some very difficult decisions to make in November. There is no low-cost way out of this situation.
The Suwalki Gap is the only land connection to the Baltic States. The railways and road transportation that Kaliningrad seeks do are north of the Suwalki Gap and connect to Belarus.
This is the United States pushing its fingers up Russia’s nose seeking justification for a wider war. The boys of DC know not what they do. The real hero of this debacle is turning out to be Putin; I hope he continues.
The EU Commission are unelected bureaucrats, Europe is lost as long as these power bloated people make such critical decisions. Our own country is being run by bureaucrats. What a mess.
The goebbelists are never going to stop for a multitude of reasons, but the one I have always found the most disturbing is their mentality. It is on a whole other level than the elitist mentality that we are accusstomed to seeing in their minions.
The ones at the very top that call the shots, and that have set their sights on Russia and Putin specifically, see themselves as gods with dominion all the earth and everything upon it. Defy them, and they will never rest until you and everything you care about is laid to waste.
Putin… Xi… Modi… and all the other world leaders making a stand, know there is only one way to insure the future safety of their people. One things for sure, they plan to unleash the brunt of their wrath on We The People, if we fail.
The neo-cons and globalists are doing all they can to make the current war against Putin go hot. A great way to distract the gaslighted Western public from the evil policies they are implementing in their country.
The history of Europe is inundated by war, division and hate. The Euro “elite” have even involved most of the world in 2 World Wars and today another breed of reckless EU fools are in charge again and endangering the entire world.
The ceding of Kaliningrad to the Soviets was not a positive occurrence given that Stalin was the merciless dictator leading the U.S.S.R at the time but I understand the allies’ reluctance to engage in another foreign war so soon. 2022 might be the year given this reckless situation.
Note–Kaliningrad (formerly Königsberg) had been occupied by Germans from 1255–1946 but rather than imprison or subjugate the majority of German people, Stalin evicted them all and replaced them with immigrants from Russia and Belarus. I doubt life in Kaliningrad was free and joyous after it was ceded to Stalin.
I understand the Soviets anger and hatred of Nazis and their supporters but replacing one brutality with another brutal form of oppression was not a favorable exchange. The Biden admin is being led willingly or stupidly into another Euro quagmire or at worst, a nuclear holocaust.
No matter what you think, there is no choice. Putin invaded Ukraine and will continue gobbling up territory until he is stopped. Better to supply money and military equipment to Ukraine and fight a conventional war, than allow Putin to continue to advance into Eastern Europe. And that is when the crap really hits the fan. There will be a great chance that then some country will use nukes to stop Putin.
Putin is the aggressor and a Fascist dictator. He invaded a free Democratic country, and is agitating to invade other Eastern European countries. Putin stirs up local Russian agitators and then comes in to rescue them from the so-called”Nazi’s.” This happened in Georgia, Moldova and now Ukraine.
Interestingly, Putin is willing to completely rubbalize eastern Ukraine to “rescue” it. I guess it is just coincidence that the sea of Azov has all of Ukraine’s oil. And now it is Russia’s. This war is about oil and territory. FYI, Putin has also stolen and taken back to Russia, all of the grain stored in terminals at Mariupol. He is a classic old world murderous thug.
…but, a year ago, was there a problem?
…did something, by others, change?
guess what.
Free? Democratic?
The CIA has run the Banderist Nazis since the end of WWII and Washington owns Ukraine’s puppets and all their crimes.
Washington ran a bloody coup in the Zero years and this war is his baby.
Vast portions of Ukraine see themselves as being liberated.
May they so be.
NATO is defenseless and everyone over there knows it. If the Russians waited till a Saturday to start a war , NATO would have to wait until Monday to fight back so they wouldn’t have to pay the troops overtime. The only hope they have is the American taxpayer bailing them out. With our Military in the shape it’s in, forget it. The only way for NATO to survive a war would be to pay off Russia, in cash, sent over by that poseur, pervert in the White House.
They’d need to also send along the title documents for Alaska, Hawaii, and select America empire bits worldwide.
I’d say California, Oregon and Washington State too
I’d pack my bags but, well, might be an improvement.
If Russia plans on supporting Kaliningrad via the Port of St. Petersburg with sea cargo shipments that take 3 days to arrive, they had better get the Suwalski gap open before long . The port ices up pretty badly in the winter.
The playbook was written a long time ago.
1984
A state of constant war.
I doubt there are many enlisted U.S. Armed Forces who believe they are fighting for the American Way of Life. What do they believe? Who are they fighting for?
They are surely asking themselves a lot of questions these days.
According to their leaders they are all white supremacist domestic extremists entitled only to imprison ment. Why on earth would they fight for the parasites?
Hmm, so the supposed softening stance on Ukraine support recently was just a head fake?
Damn, should have known better than to expect these lunatics to stop.
