The spike in prices, exacerbated by fertilizer shortages and poor harvests, has fueled inflation globally and raised fears of famine and social unrest in poorer countries.
It has also led to concerns about growing protectionism following Indonesia’s halting of palm oil exports and India putting the brakes on exports of wheat.
India, the world’s second-largest wheat producer, said that factors including lower production and sharply higher global prices meant it worried about the food security of its own 1.4 billion people.

I talked to my farmer friends and they said they cannot ship their nut crops because of present government shipping policies. Basically, the price for their nut crops is nothing. They can’t give their nut crop away. The price for wheat and hay is through the roof because of local Dairy and local Cattle demand. The whole thing is totally wacko.
The tree fruit season is about to start and who knows how it will be affected one way or another… The shortages are a guarantee because of the government. Tree Fruit is highly perishable and cannot be stored waiting for something good to happen.
On top of that Californias water policy is a total disaster. This directly affects crop yield. Nearly impossible to find a farmer or farmworker who supports Biden and Newsome today.
Feed the nuts to the local cows and take care of your area. The scary part is the licensed producers under VI patent their crops so no one else can grow them.
I’m surrounded by apple orchards and have about 100 producing trees on my property.
I don’t know about citrus but I do know that our apple farmers use cold storage combined with nitrogen generators to extend the life of their harvest.
The biggest problem that I see when it comes to apples is the switch by many orchards from producing apples for eating to producing them for alcoholic beverages like hard cider and vodka.
Juiced apples for alcohol don’t have to meet the rigorous demands for quality that fruit retailers place on eating apples.
Customers expect blemish-free apples, but that requires a lot of extra expense on the part of the farmer.
Apple vodka may help you forget your troubles but it won’t fill your hungry belly.
One of the larger orchards near me knocked down about 100 acres of trees and replaced them with hemp and they stopped maintaining at least another 100 acres of trees.
I grew 500 acres of apples and we could store apples for an entire year in “Controlled Atmosphere Storage (CA). However, it does no good if you can’t ship them.

And now the likes of Blackrock or Bill Gates buying the tangible assets of this country so they might have a corner on the markets and force higher prices in the long run.
You can not tell me these breakdowns are due to a political ideology, it is the trickle down effect of ethical imperatives that breaks down the nation, communities and families. Its an issue with you and me. Look at your local level politics, are they communists, or whatever. No. They are your neighbors trying to wring every last dime out of whatever it is they are doing. And these days, often, it is unethical what it is they are doing. But self and sin are bad bed fellows in a world going down the crapper.
We are conquered because all of us have been polluted with sin and act selfishly for our own best interest and not for the good of the many.

I will say this as a former military man, military contractor, Veteran of Iraq at Dept of State (not a desk jockey), graduate of Duke University in Political Science, History and Economics, I find him very much a breath of fresh air. If someone had hammered him hard as to strategic conclusions. He would have had to concede or retreat. Bottom line a Mexican drug cartel civil war, while it may depress Mexican wages encouraging investment there, and, while the cartels now operating in the US have annihilated Bloods, Crips, Biker gang retail market control of narcotics, it in no way has long term strategic economic interests of the US at heart. Period. Have you seen the death rates from Fentynal? As well, the border crossers are not now Mexican they are Central American. And, having the cartels operating in the US well they are no more going to act like the rotary club here than they did in Mexico. They are going to function as they did in Mexico. That was his point. They killed the gang opposition. He claims that’s why the murder rate dropped. I would agree.
