Ever since Elon Musk announced his intention to purchase a social media platform, take it private as a company and emerge as a new free speech communication force, things in the tech world have been all, well, a twitter (pun intended).
It’s not just the potentially game-changing social conversation shift that is driving the news; where –GASP– actual independent expression of opinion might be permitted in the digital space; there’s also a major worry amid the preexisting platform control offices of media about simultaneously arriving financial impacts.
Business Insider has reported that Facebook parent company Meta has initiated a hiring freeze through the remainder of this year. Additionally, following the news that woke Netflix is being rejected by subscribers, suddenly payroll obligations are a concern over there.
This comes on the heels of Amazon, and the omnipresent AWS cloud services, looking a little shaky as a business model, amid reports they have “overstaffed” their operation, according to the Washington Post. And as we would expect, the ever tech-heavy stock market is being driven into the basement by a series of tremors in the land of all thing’s Bezos.
Techtonic tremors are surfacing everywhere while people watch for the potential of an actual, dare we say, competitive eruption? Oh my.
The rag-tag rebel alliance is reporting to be nearing completed assembly of the ultra-MAGA Truth Social platform hopefully by the end of this month with a dedicated web application allowing all devices to connect to a larger scaled version of the Trump-inspired network. It appears Truth Social is using the combined technology partnership with Rumble cloud operations and a partnership for dedicated server banks.
Into this maelstrom of technological competition, enters the world’s most technologically cutting-edge entrepreneur, who also happens to be the world’s richest man, who also happens to be building out his own satellite internet platform called StarLink.
The scale of consequence for Elon Musk purchasing Twitter, is akin to the metaphorical John Galt purchasing the ma’ Bell telecommunications system of the 70’s. Yup, things be a changin’…. the Eye of Sauron, aka Google, is being challenged.
Even the Fourth Branch of Government recently appears to have taken a few body blows. The risk of corrupt and cancerous everything being connected to corrupt and cancerous everything else becomes problematic when one unstable card in the house collapses. If the U.S. intel community lose control of the Twitter narrative engineering platform, things get sketchy for all the dependents.
Meanwhile, the serious and stable tech engineers who never got down with the wokeism, yet kept their heads low to avoid isolation and social detection, are now starting to smile as fellow Asperger’s ally Elon Musk shows them how to have fun again, again.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the human resource flight path toward Twitter for bright engineering minds that value innovation over social isolation. A whole lot of people are currently stuck amid a tribe of co-workers perpetually angry about something stupid.
FORTUNE – […] It’s still unclear how a Musk-run Twitter might impact the company’s ability to retain current staff and recruit new employees. The company presented the takeover as a potential threat to its staffing abilities in an SEC filing Monday.
But at least casual interest in open positions at the company has skyrocketed since the Tesla billionaire showed serious interest in taking over the company.
In a statement to Fortune, Zhao clarified that interest is defined by the average daily clicks on Twitter job postings on the platform, compared to the average daily job clicks in a March 2022 baseline prior to the news breaking of Musk’s plans for the company.
Though clicks do not necessarily correlate to actual job applications submitted, and likely reflect current media attention, the increase shows that people appear to be interested not just in the media story, but in work available at the company.
“Say what you will about Elon, he does have a large fanbase of ppl excited to work for him,” Zhao tweeted. “He’s much more likely to capitalize on that attraction as CEO than owner.”
On Friday, Musk shared some of his own thoughts about hiring at Twitter, sharing Fortune’s reporting.
“If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware,” he tweeted on Friday morning. (more)
Giddy up.
When you get into the weeds with Musk endeavors, you realize without the support of governments his businesses wouldn’t be where they are today.
The question folks should be asking is how will Musk involve government with Twitter?
It is his MO after all.
I agree that conservatives are somewhat rushing to get on the Musk train.. it could be because they have been at the receiving end for so long, they welcome someone /anyone who hasn’t bashed them up openly or discriminates against them blatantly..so far
Musk is one of the greatest recipients of corporate welfare to have ever existed. He doesn’t oppose governments, he partners with them and abides by their mandates whether it’s here or China. His goal is to be a trillionaire. He believes twitter is undervalued and he can tap an underserved market of those who want freedom of speech.
Musk is probably America’s biggest welfare case. He must be watched closely when it comes to US and Chinese government roles in his business ventures.
Didn’t he repay that gov’t debt?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend….at least temporarily.
So long as he doesn’t renig on his promise to open Twitter up to opposing views….
My thoughts are, even if he is a lefty, he’s saying “hey let’s have open debate”. Which he may think he can win. But we all know he can’t. So kudos to him.
I love the idea of those who want utter control of everything being super worried about what might happen if/when Musk throws his huge monkey wrench into the works. I imagine he’s a hard man to bribe, a hard man to BS and a hard man to blackmail.
I keep remembering that the Lord works in mysterious ways. If the Fourth Branch is nervous, then I’m thinking we celebrate. This could be the cyber version of Jesus turning over the tables of the money changers. Look up, be thankful for the unusual men/women He uses. And, never let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Big picture — we are all in this sinking boat, pray we have just plugged one of the leaks!
Okay, I just read this, so take this however you should! Another possible kink in the armor, maybe a big kink.

Sundance may be very wrong in what he thinks here.
The “actual independent expression of opinion”
that The Founders had in mind (1st amendment) can only occur when the writer uses his real name.
The Founders were insuring that each American citizen had an equal place on the democratic stage, not that – using a false name – he could dispense meaningless, nasty and worthless BS.
you obviously have not paid attention to the favorite storylines of fiction where a good person must assume an identity so as to protect the loved ones around them. From Robin Hood to John Galt to Star Wars, these stories showed that people often have to hide behind a veil of anonymity to avoid the wrath of a corrupt government (that is always the common denominator)
You may want to take note that the founders used pseudonyms when writing the Federalist Papers. Maybe they wanted their arguments for the Constitution to be more important than name recognition.
For another more current example, look at all of the work Obama is doing today under the pseudonym “Joe Biden!”
Barry Soltelo(sp)?
Doxing is a common political tool used now days. Doxing is revealing the identities of political opponents, so that, they can be identified, financially ruined or physically harmed. … … Saul Alinsky’s famous list for radicals includes = Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual.
There are ‘instant mobs of protestors’ acting out preplanned activities. ~Everyone has a grievance now days. Anger inside our own Country is displayed on the news. … People seek ~anonymity to avoid the ‘instant mob’ that quickly forms wanting harm for its opponents.
Hi Mongo1931 — We generally know Sundance’s real name. He adopted the pseudonym, some 15 plus years ago, when persecuted for uncovering the truth about a media vilification campaign. Petrel
There is a time for everything. The history of the Christian church from the time of the Apostles had much anonymity among their writers. Many documents from that period have no definitive author. Christians met in hiding (e.g. catacombs) for centuries and even today in many countries they function underground. As someone mentioned already, the Founders wrote many pamphlets anonymously, and to each other without mentioning the actual names of third parties, and many of their writings where very ambiguous on purpose. You are right that the 1st amendment was intended to live different than they lived when they fought for it. But unfortunately, they also let us know that from time to time there may be a need to sacrifice to preserve it–and that may ultimately demand your all. It will not suffice with just signing your name in some protestation, getting rounded up, and then taking a beating–that may be all that some are capable of doing, but this will not suffice. Ask Gen. Washington what it took to get freedom. He did more than just loud speaking and be censored. That may end up to be what happens. But only the Lord knows the price He will exact from us for our decadence and neglect of what is good to live a life focused on self-gratification, which has led to where we are today.
Why did Publius use a fictitious name?
Musk says that the managers ought to have coding/technical skills.
Good!
Product engineering over social engineering? That’s a step in the right direction.
Here’s an example of tectonic plates shifting. When people are allowed to openly express themselves, and other open-minded people see it, we find the common ground with people who may have been labeled in such a manner that many people would be disinclined to credit anything they say.
To late to edit- I wasn’t implying that Ticker Guy was close-minded or biased, just that you can’t discover unexpected areas of agreement if you are prevented from hearing what someone else really thinks.
Musk may or may not actually be doing one thing with Twitter that many liberty movement supporters can agree with. Whether or not he lives up to the expectations that many have hope for still remains quite a ways off to be seen.
He is still a technocrat that believes any technology that man can invent is good and should be put into full effect no matter what the potential detrimental effects may be. Musk believes in the benefits of digital implants, digital tracking, and eventually trans-human integration of humans and machines.
Musk is also a very social progressive who supports many of the most radical progressive ideologies including the right to sacrifice unborn children on demand.
In the case of what Musk says he may be doing with Twitter the enemy of my enemy may not be my friend but we can have very limited common interests.
We don’t want to worship him, we just want him to run an honest digital platform. I’ll per perfectly happy to disagree with him on other issues.
A whole lot of internet companies swallowed wokeism, became led by Billy Joel’s “angry young man” in senior and management positions, and thus actually became “sh*t holes to work in,” despite the glowing HR come-ons. I know many folks who signed on with starry eyes but then got the hell out within the year. (Not just Twitter.)
My IT job’s not “glam,” but it’s fulfilling and it sure the hell ain’t “woke!”
Financially, many of these have been playing “numbers games” for a long time. If it sounds too good to be true … 🧐
Eventually it will all catch up with them. 🤷♂️ Reality’s like that.
Seems like lots of trolling going on here re the Musk/Twitter situation? His takeover is quite obviously great news on its face, and all the right people/organizations are freaking out, so really not much need for people to remind us treepers that he isn’t Jesus, and that we had better temper our enthusiasm. It’s great news until proven otherwise; the end…of the beginning.
Sources say that Elon Musk is planning to fire about 15% of the workforce, at least 1,000 staffers, at Twitter as soon as his purchase of the social media platform is complete. It’s believed he will fire many of the firm’s woke staff following the transfer of ownership, which will take around six months, after which Musk is likely to wield the ax.
Poor triggered flakes . . . someone call a Waaaambulance!
Ah, the fond memories …
He’s basically saying that Twitter had stagnated because its workforce became bloated with untalented people who were being hired not because they had any useable skills, but because they were woke and wanted to help with all the censorship. They are now of no use to the company because Elon wants to stop censoring everything, and grow the company. Growing the company will take talent, which is something the current employees RESENT.
