Ever since Elon Musk announced his intention to purchase a social media platform, take it private as a company and emerge as a new free speech communication force, things in the tech world have been all, well, a twitter (pun intended).
It’s not just the potentially game-changing social conversation shift that is driving the news; where –GASP– actual independent expression of opinion might be permitted in the digital space; there’s also a major worry amid the preexisting platform control offices of media about simultaneously arriving financial impacts.
Business Insider has reported that Facebook parent company Meta has initiated a hiring freeze through the remainder of this year. Additionally, following the news that woke Netflix is being rejected by subscribers, suddenly payroll obligations are a concern over there.
This comes on the heels of Amazon, and the omnipresent AWS cloud services, looking a little shaky as a business model, amid reports they have “overstaffed” their operation, according to the Washington Post. And as we would expect, the ever tech-heavy stock market is being driven into the basement by a series of tremors in the land of all thing’s Bezos.
Techtonic tremors are surfacing everywhere while people watch for the potential of an actual, dare we say, competitive eruption? Oh my.
The rag-tag rebel alliance is reporting to be nearing completed assembly of the ultra-MAGA Truth Social platform hopefully by the end of this month with a dedicated web application allowing all devices to connect to a larger scaled version of the Trump-inspired network. It appears Truth Social is using the combined technology partnership with Rumble cloud operations and a partnership for dedicated server banks.
Into this maelstrom of technological competition, enters the world’s most technologically cutting-edge entrepreneur, who also happens to be the world’s richest man, who also happens to be building out his own satellite internet platform called StarLink.
The scale of consequence for Elon Musk purchasing Twitter, is akin to the metaphorical John Galt purchasing the ma’ Bell telecommunications system of the 70’s. Yup, things be a changin’…. the Eye of Sauron, aka Google, is being challenged.
Even the Fourth Branch of Government recently appears to have taken a few body blows. The risk of corrupt and cancerous everything being connected to corrupt and cancerous everything else becomes problematic when one unstable card in the house collapses. If the U.S. intel community lose control of the Twitter narrative engineering platform, things get sketchy for all the dependents.
Meanwhile, the serious and stable tech engineers who never got down with the wokeism, yet kept their heads low to avoid isolation and social detection, are now starting to smile as fellow Asperger’s ally Elon Musk shows them how to have fun again, again.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the human resource flight path toward Twitter for bright engineering minds that value innovation over social isolation. A whole lot of people are currently stuck amid a tribe of co-workers perpetually angry about something stupid.
FORTUNE – […] It’s still unclear how a Musk-run Twitter might impact the company’s ability to retain current staff and recruit new employees. The company presented the takeover as a potential threat to its staffing abilities in an SEC filing Monday.
But at least casual interest in open positions at the company has skyrocketed since the Tesla billionaire showed serious interest in taking over the company.
In a statement to Fortune, Zhao clarified that interest is defined by the average daily clicks on Twitter job postings on the platform, compared to the average daily job clicks in a March 2022 baseline prior to the news breaking of Musk’s plans for the company.
Though clicks do not necessarily correlate to actual job applications submitted, and likely reflect current media attention, the increase shows that people appear to be interested not just in the media story, but in work available at the company.
“Say what you will about Elon, he does have a large fanbase of ppl excited to work for him,” Zhao tweeted. “He’s much more likely to capitalize on that attraction as CEO than owner.”
On Friday, Musk shared some of his own thoughts about hiring at Twitter, sharing Fortune’s reporting.
“If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware,” he tweeted on Friday morning. (more)
Giddy up.
In other words, a company that makes a profit rather than left wing propaganda.
Dump trucks of sand..
Except Tesla is now paying for employee abortions
So there’s that
And the brain chips that one of his companies makes.
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/tesla-pay-travel-costs-staff-seeking-abortion-services-rcna27704
I just put the link so Treepers didn’t have to look it up 😇
“Travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state.”
When did Trees start trusting nbcnews? Sources matter.
Treepers not trees autocorrect takes another…
Just look around.
Abortion is a good idea.
I would never condone abortion but since it is mostly liberals who use that method to murder their children, I often wonder if it’s God’s way of reducing their number to a manageable level…
LOL
Liberals and other Low IQs
If genes determine behavior, libs are voluntarily removing themselves from the human gene pool.
Interesting you mentioned that and in a sophisticated manner – something that has escaped my brain. I read an article about 5 years ago, in which the researchers looked into your concern. I wish I could remember the stats, it was quite extensive, but the result of legal abortions was a significant reduction of elected liberals.
I recently read an article that the majority of all abortions are blacks and Hispanics (just as the racist Margaret Sanger wanted).
But more interesting, in the past abortion clinics were called out for being placed in mostly minority neighborhoods. To counter this, Planned Parenthood carefully places about 65% of their clinics in areas that are not actually IN minority neighborhoods, but right on the EDGE. That way, if anyone checks it appears they aren’t targeting minorities. But someone took the 2012 (i think it was) Census and mapped all Planned Parenthood locations with a 2 miles radius and discovered the dirty little “secret” that they are STILL in minority neighborhoods.
Yes.
First their families and culture were targeted by welfare and the great society.
Second their progeny were targeted for destruction by legal and paid abortions.
Third, let’s remove the wonderful colored Motown, jazz and blues and replace it with vile , disgusting, debasing rap.
Gangsta and otherwise.
But then they come to your home and get your children for their projects/indoctrination and turn them against you. Tricky thing.
No, it is not God’s way to kill the innocent.
If you find yourself often wondering such ridiculous and cruel things, perhaps you should seek to know the true living God and Father.
Dear fellow Christian… I will not judge you as you seem to be doing me. I will only remind you of the Plague of the Firstborn; during which, God Himself killed every firstborn Egyptian child and firstborn offspring of every Egyptian owned animal. There was no minimum age limit…
If you’re not familiar with this, see the Book of Exodus in the Bible…
God works in mysterious ways, some of which may seem confusing, unnecessary, and even cruel.
I personally think there should be an age limit!
I though many large health insurers used by corporations cover that, unless a state forbids it (CA doesn’t). Nice attempt to take a swipe at Musk though.
The right or wrong of abortion is an insoluble disagreement within our society. The brilliance of the founders, finally to be acknowledged by SCOTUS 50 years later, is that such issues are relegated to State Legislatures, and need not destroy consensus among us on federal issues – like preserving the right the people to free speech, free press (including social media) and the right to peaceably assemble.
Focus on preserving our constitutional republic against these rabid Leftists.
Didn’t the founders write that everyone has the unalienable right to life? Yes, that includes the pre-born. So no, the problem is not insoluble. Abortion is murder, and is therefore unacceptable.
I think they would tell you that’s an anti-federalist argument. Which is why they warned so heavily against government wading into social policy.
It’s not like these things didn’t exist then.
That’s not a pro abortion argument from my side. I’ve just spent a LOT of time in that period of history and understanding their intentions.
Except that’s not what the current draft says… Legislators being federal as well.
My money is on Democrats ramming that right on through after the ruling. Or, first honest chance they get.
Neither side of this is remotely within the bounds of constitutional restraint. It’s at best social political democracy on both sides.
Agreed. Plus, the ending of Roe makes the marketplace between States more vibrant. You don’t like the laws in your State? Move!
Forgot one. “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. I’m still trying to figure out how that works for the casual citizen.
It’s cheaper than paying for maternity leave.
Oh my. That does fit within their moral compass.
They figure it’s cheaper than paying for a maternity leave. It’s always about the 💰
That’s what successful companies do. They make money for their shareholders.
Perhaps he has come to the realization, that people who kill babies, should never be Mothers. He should add sterilization onto the package.
Why wouldn’t they? It’s better on their bottom line. Abortions and their travel costs are way cheaper than maternity leave.
In New York State some 40 years ago my large government employer paid 100% of an abortion but zero for childbirth expenses related to the baby. I had to write a check for my son!
No one ever said or thinks Musk is perfect, he is flawed, but he is all we have at the moment, to make progress against the grotesque and corrupt digital world that others have created. If he actually comes through and creates a place that is a fair exchange of ideas and information – that is huge. It is incredibly important – essential – he succeeds. So there’s that.
Let’s be fair, this is most due to the employee healthcare plan offered by the insurance company
Thank you, Lord. Next to charge all these generals and traitors to be criminally charge from covid, warmongering, war crminals and crimes against humanity.
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the human resource flight path toward Twitter for bright engineering minds that value innovation over social isolation.”
Imagine being a software engineer in this field and being able to focus on innovating and doing your job rather than whether the purple haired Antifa freak in the next cube will report you to HR for lacking pronouns in your bio.
Slight change of subject, but I refuse to put my pronouns in my bio. Ever! As an IT professional I know there are plenty of purple haired freaks to watch out for. People even got going on the Roe decision this week.
If I were at a woke company my pronouns would be:
“Using pronouns about someone in your presence is disrespectful, please use my name instead, if I’m not in the room I don’t care”
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the human resource flight path toward Twitter for bright engineering minds that value innovation over social isolation. A whole lot of people are currently stuck amid a tribe of co-workers perpetually angry about something stupid.”
21. “Leftists may claim that their activism is motivated by compassion or by moral principles, and moral principle does play a role for the leftist of the oversocialized type. But compassion and moral principle cannot be the main motives for leftist activism. Hostility is too prominent a component of leftist behavior; so is the drive for power. Moreover, much leftist behavior is not rationally calculated to be of benefit to the people whom the leftists claim to be trying to help. For example, if one believes that affirmative action is good for black people, does it make sense to demand affirmative action in hostile or dogmatic terms? Obviously it would be more productive to take a diplomatic and conciliatory approach that would make at least verbal and symbolic concessions to white people who think that affirmative action discriminates against them. But leftist activists do not take such an approach because it would not satisfy their emotional needs. Helping black people is not their real goal. Instead, race problems serve as an excuse for them to express their own hostility and frustrated need for power. In doing so they actually harm black people, because the activists’ hostile attitude toward the white majority tends to intensify race hatred.”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/unabomber/manifesto.text.htm
“moral principle” Where did you see this on the left?
The left is full of high sounding words but, be aware, that they mean – to the left – the opposite of what they mean to the general population. Or even the dictionary.
Exactly. Society is largely comprised of Apaths who are easily manipulated and controlled. Whichever way the wind blows, they will invariably join a blind stampede to avoid being trampled.
Their thought processes can best be described thusly: “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way..”
Most of these people have no idea what they are even ranting about, which is why they cannot possibly pause to entertain a rational discussion.
Wokeness appeals to those who are weak of mind and spirit. The mob is what holds sway, nomatter which cause they may lay claim to at a given moment.
Best to be like a matador who deftly steps out of the way as these dimwits come charging past.
33% of the population has always consisted of the spiritual void and weak minded persons who are attracted to the loudest noise maker.
That thumbs up picture looks like he was a fan of the Fonz.
Just keep him away from sharks in kiddie pools.
I love that guy! But I worship Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. I pray the Lord brings His blessings on his mission.
Anything to distrupt the statist govt is a welcome change.
Netflix might have trouble making payroll???? Hahahahahahahhaha.
Maybe the subscribers weren’t interested in kiddie pr0n like “Cuties” or watching two vapid, dimwitted narcissists like Harry and Meghan.
Karma.
Their stars are overrated and overpaid.
Especially Big Mike.
Another view of Netflix’s problems:
https://www.takimag.com/article/hollywood-apartheid-is-ready-for-its-close-up/
Yeah, who would think at this point in time that advertising a Black Lives Matter collection of movies was a good way to get viewers.
Idiots.
Some of them might get a following if they didn’t make them all look like bufoons. They mostly don’t even act like real people. I’d rather they act like real people instead of bufoons. Of course, might be the writers when you get down to it.
Hollywood has another problem. It tells people who are Hispanic that they are “not hispanic enough”
Or “don’t count as hispanic”. So they literally make it harder to fill the quotas 🤦🏼♀️
So are the rest of them……Some are not worth a plug nickle no matter how much they think they should get.
Here’s my own anecdotal take re: the ‘new’ Twittersphere-
I was suspended (banned) from Twitter in late October 2020 for posting a very thorough and well sourced overview of the Biden Family history of financial shenanigans (crimes) as reported by Real Clear Investigations . . . . Never got an official reason, never got a response, was never reinstated & never bothered going back until I created a new account a month or so ago before the Musk acquisition. Got put in time out once for saying Vindman should have been court-martialed & executed for his participation in a failed coup.
Now I’m back and regularly remarking on the stolen election and the various other crap the “Progressive” Marxists are pulling without a peep!
I’ll eventually get on Truth Social, but in the meantime, being back on Twitter unencumbered by the infantile Twitter police is somewhat liberating.
I was kicked off in November of 2020 and I’m still “suspended” I guess. That’s what it says when I try and like something.
Same here, I just started over and it seemed to work.
I was banned in late February, early March. I quoted a Joy Behar clip of her sniveling about the Ukraine war and how she couldn’t go to Italy because of it.
I said something along the lines of people should hurry up and send their sons to die in Ukraine so she could continue living her privileged lifestyle.
I’ve appealed their ban a couple times just to be a thorn, and I get the same non-response in reply about being banned for targeted abuse.
Whatever. I still have access to my account, so I make sure to spend a little time each day looking at leftist twitter accounts and reporting the death threats and targeted abuse they tweet daily.
Geez.
Twit “protecting” Joy Behar from a little well-deserved criticism.
Unbelievable how low they’d go.
Even this old lady had noticed that some of her remarks were just left off and never a word. Of course, maybe my remarks aren’t worth much anyhow, but if they don’t want them there, they should at least tell me to back off. I don’t go I’m not wanted, but I don’t go where I know I’m not welcome. Just say so; maybe I won’t be so stupid if it just comes outright…..”go away, we don’t want you here, or we are tired of you, go away.”
I’m talking about here, not Twitter or Fake book either since I don’t go there.
I find Elons comment prioritizing “infosec “, as a win against the 4th branch of gov, the INTEL Beast.
But combined this with server hardware and it’s a major F’Off to the Jacks Coffee Shop business model!
Independent Free Speech demands privacy of the data (HW & SW), with no one getting their grubby hands on it!
@Elon knows this and is fundamentally transforming the Twitter physical architecture to truly provide a platform for FREE SPEECH!
100%
I interpret it that way also.
@Sundance, I seem to recall another group of Patriots making the same moves recently. 😉
Stand back and look at Elon’s strategic view. Everything ties together to support The Mission (colonizing Mars). Space and surface transportation, tunneling (for radiation-safe habitats), communication, robotics (to fill out manpower needs in a new colony), solar power, power storage, and so many more.
If you watched “Battery Day”, you will remember the presentation on the new hardware processor architecture that Tesla designed to train the A.I. that will autonomously drive their vehicles. Likely this architecture will impact the development of the A.I. for the robot as well. It was said that this processor is a supercomputer with very few peers (count them on one hand).
It is not a stretch of the imagination to presume that it may be adapted to run the servers required for Twitter, vastly improving the performance and reach of the platform.
quantum computer? I would not be surprised if Elon had a functioning one, or a nearly functioning one to be making these gambits.
Does that mean that I might even be able to use the words that get you shut down on most sites; like he** or Da**? I slip sometimes, and I’m just glad there are no little ones here to pick them up. There is another one, but mostly I just misspell it; like a sheet: on the bed.
👍👍👍
can you spell T….E…..X……..A …..S
I’m happy at my current job as a software dev, I’ve worked for them for 20 years and have over 30 years experience writing commercial mission-critical software. But I can conceive working for a guy like Musk. It would be quite intriguing I think.
“are you effective?”
ahh…uhhh
uhmmm
oh shit…not supposed to ask that ..
(said 60 percent of all twitter and social media “employees”)
elon is taking no prisoners.
seismic event occuring…
about time.
The history of the world is either the product of great men (Christ, Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler etc.) or the product of dogmas. Leftists obviously object to the premise of great men.
All us romantic conservatives yearn for the next great man. Donald Trump has not been forced from the scene. We now ache for an Elon Musk to supply what we need. Conservatives have the huge advantage of tolerance – we do not ask Trump or Musk to be perfect. Leftists trapped into their dogmas rely on censorship to hide the huge flaws in their logic and their practices.
So find a black leader with huge flaws and call his critics racist. Find a female leader with huge flaws and call her critics sexist. Or, simply call them human and go from there.
And all we want is a level playing field (which our constitution is supposed to guarantee) and we’ll kick their ass every time.
Oh, you just wrote another one I might use once in a while…..it I’m really pssst.
Please be my guest!
Hey, the flaws don’t even have to be huge…..just a little one they object to will do.
Christ is the Son of God, He is God incarnate.
A great man who changed the world is my point.
His return will change the world, again my point.
I submit that the great man theory of history is most definitively proven by Christ.
Love James Woods!
Musk buying twitter is like Trump becoming President back in 2016. The potential upside is high. If nothing changes, well, it’s the status quo. BUT if he does deliver on even half of what he says he will in regards to free speech/conversation, it changes everything. A neutral twitter, a true public square, becomes the only legitimate news/discussion space. Every other place then has to become like twitter, or whatever platform it is, in order to stay afloat. “THE MESSAGE” ends because it can’t survive reality. It won’t end overnight, but its’ ground becomes much shakier than it is now, and it’s looking really shaky.
thank you sundance, for gaming this out and saving me so much thought-time.
you ROCK in a culturally changing way.
keep it up!
Don’t know what I would do if he wasn’t here on a daily basis. I spend too much time here as it is, but I’d be so lost without this site. I thank Sundance also. The only place I go regularly.
The great, monumental figure of John David Rockefeller changed the world to a stunning extent.
People burned whale oil in their lamps to supply light in the evenings. The kerosene available was smelly and expensive.
Rockefeller made kerosene cheap and of far higher quality. Rockefeller did more to save the whales than any Greenpeace warrior.
Rockefeller then pioneered the concept of economy of scale. Gasoline was cheap because of Rockefeller, and the era of the automobile was born.
Rockefeller became the world’s richest man, by far, because he was a man of intense consequence.
Will Elon Musk be a man of such magnitude? God, we need it!
Raptors2023: Strive every day to be your own person of intense consequence.
I profoundly agree.
This is shaping up to be one seriously crazy year or so…..
You must have been in shock the last 2.5 years it’s been the craziest in my lifetime. Well obama was a warm up for this.
You are right. That started it for me. I’ll shut up not. Promise.
I’d say seriously crazy year again.
Sundance really does break it down. Gotta say I gain alot of understanding of things I would find NOWHERE else. Theres people in THE KNOW round here. Thanks for all you do. An oasis of information in a stormy sea of lies and propaganda.
Here’s to hoping it lasts…
This is such great news that people will actually want to go work for Twitter. Also I’m glad that Elon is a tech guy at heart and made that statement about messing technical. There are so many out there in positions that are there b/c of wokeness. Get rid of those loons.
When they hire for “diversity” instead of talent you get a lot of subpar performance and it shows.
Hiring for diversity in a technical field is a recipe for disaster!
There’s more of us than them and they are beginning to realise that we are beginning to realise that!
That’s why Obiden had a meltdown and declared that the “MAGA movement” is an “extremist” organization… they know that they suck and are not what Americans want or believe.
Attention passengers! Welcome to the fundamentally transformed U.S. of A. As you work your way through the current state of America, for you own safety please make sure that any inconvenient facts and associated criticisms are stored neatly within yourself. In other words, keep your seatbacks and personal opinions in the fully upright and locked position. Otherwise Big Brother, and if necessary an FBI Swat Team will come to help you reorder your priorities.
You are welcome to file a complain via the soon to be DHS regulated Internet. We apologize if your dedicated U.S. Senators and U.S. House Representatives cannot respond to every inquiry. They may merely be previously committed to representing other more lucrative interests more relevant to their own pocketbooks and their own position. And as always, have a nice day and think happy thoughts as because of your wonderful and caring federal government and congress, you are safe and protected and all of your thinking will be done for you.
What I wouldn’t give to hear a Southwest stewardess repeat that with no mask on!!
Love that one and intend to steal…..Have a whole bunch of words stolen from others….hope you don’t mind…I’ve got to pass it on. In spite of telling others about this place, they don’t really get it like we do…’ooops, not supposed to do that again was I? I’d leave but there is still much for me to read. I’ll try to keep my yapp shut.
Sundance… You have to be a fellow Gen Xer; because it’s only us true blood Gen Xers that can find the Chicken Salad on the Chicken 💩aisle.
🙌🏼😂💃🏼🌞✝️🌞💃🏼😂🙌🏼
Your sunlight is always appreciated.
Love you Brother 🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸
I want to see some rolling thunder happen.
So…. if netflix, amazon, Disney all start to tank,
maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe down the line the
turds that own controlling interest
( Blackrock, Vanguard) will start to see some reductions,
also.
I’ve had this sneaking idea ever since watching the superb
video about who owns the world linked earlier this week.
Having a senior moment remembering the title, will post it later.
The sneaking idea is that since the 2 aforementioned firms
own controlling stock in damn near everything, they can slide
the profits of the ones making money across to the ones that
are losing. That way they can still dictate everyone stays on
the woke plantation.
Larry’s parents didn’t have the last name Fink for no reason.
Too bad Musk can’t buy the FBI and house clean that.
China already owns them.
Hey, if Musk wants to be John Galt, he’s got my support.
I have no interest in an electric car but know that his company had made some rides that a lot of people love.
RE: ““If Twitter acquisition completes, company will be super focused on hardcore software engineering, design, infosec & server hardware,” he tweeted on Friday “
=> Precursor for Elon FIRING BOATLOADS of technically-incompetent Twitter frauds.
Message to each Employee:
”Bring all of your documented software output, including metadata for each day of your employment, to the Musk Performance Review Board on Monday. We look forward to rewarding our top producers.”
• Those showing up empty-handed will be subject to liability for defrauding the company.
• Those showing up with algorithms to cancel freedom of speech will be subject to prosecution … by both the company and their victims.
Unless they agree to rat out their bosses, Ωpeers and co-conspirators – both within the company and without.
BKR, You have the best rapid fire lethal spitball posts!
“A whole lot of people are currently stuck amid a tribe of co-workers perpetually angry about something stupid.” Kinda encapsulates the a great many of (if not the whole) millennial generation. In other words, “Everyone else is tired of your complaining, so get back to work and do the job you were hired to do.”
How do we follow along to see if/when the Twitter sale concludes? At this point I know he still doesn’t own it. Yet.
CirclinTheDrain: Give it six months. If the deal closes, you will most certainly hear and read about it. A lot of legal work remains to be done to close this deal.
Wouldn’t it be something if all these big-tech companies really were just fronts for the deep-state administrative swamp?
I wonder how many financial statements from these places claiming massive revenues maybe aren’t legit or are completely fraudulent? I realize for this to happen it would involve a massive interconnected circle of accomplices, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
It would also require a whole ton of people to keep their pie-holes shut, so it still seems unlikely, but as the Website Hosts here have postulated, something’s not adding up with all of this. Musk better be careful, he’s encroaching on Jeffrey Epstein territory here…..
No doubt a lot of politicians children work for Fb,twtr, goog, etc,. Schumer got 2. Bet it 100’s . prob. more. Irony is like the country right now the minority of people are dictating the policy .
AG Garland’s son in law owns a publishing company – a company based in Boston that publishes CRT books for the schools. Coincidence that he went after school kids’ parents for speaking up at the PTA meetings? I think not.
“Wouldn’t it be something if all these big-tech companies really were just fronts for the deep-state administrative swamp?”
THEY ARE!!!
I concur.
How can Twitter handle the processing capacity in a profitable fashion without NSA level processing and server support.
There are similar connections: Jeff Bezos’ maternal grandfather was one of the first leaders of Dept of Defense Agency DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Was it a coincidence that his grandson started Amazon? Amazon is a shipping and tracking company. Who else is very good at shipping and tracking? Maybe a government department with an annual budget in excess of $730B who ships and tracks equipment all over the world.
The U. S. Military developed a program called Life Log for tracking member’s life events. It was decided that it would not be ok to track people without their consent. The program was ended and a month later Facebook was introduced to the public as a platform where it’s users would voluntarily share their life events (same result as Life Log, but with user’s gleeful consent). Facebook was sold to the public as the story of a boy genius from Harvard, not a military tracking tool.
Similar things have been said about Bill Gates and the development of Microsoft where Bill Gates’ father is a member of “the club”. Another boy genius story.
There are more similar stories, but you get the point.
The more I learn, the more I feel like Mongo. “Mongo just little pawn in big game of life.”
Thank you! I just asked the question that you just answered earlier and farther down the stream.
I have always wondered how a concept like Twitter got so big so fast — 140 characters of inanity was my impression when it began. Paying for the servers to handle the traffic for the originators’ goals required huge a pocketbook(s). Did the concept attract private investors or did government departments provide the backing for Twitter and Facebook.
The regime is losing oxygen as its public support craters. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. While Rumble has an enormous challenge ahead of itself trying to build a web services platform in a worsening economy, they’re just starting whereas Amazon is huge.
This was the brilliance of Ron DeSantis and Florida’s move against Disney. It sped up the cultural shift in such a way as to get the CEO’s of major corporations to slow down and think – do I really want to attach myself and this company to a dying empire of lies with no public support?
I would expect several woke CEO’s to take their companies down with the regime of woke, but their destruction will be like a clarion call on Wall Street.
Daily Insurrection: Companies that dump the mindless wokeness will thrive.
I’m interested to see exactly WHAT Elon Musk will change about Twitter, and HOW those changes will affect Trump’s “Truth Social” platform.
Would a fair and unbiased Twitter render the need for Truth Social MOOT?
IMO, no.
I’m on Truth now. There are buffoons, some trolls etc. but at this point, the patriots far outweigh the looney lefties.
It’s refreshing not to be harassed by other members for expressing things like the IC is a huge threat to us, those imprisoned for J6 are political prisoners and RINO’s are as repellent as lefties.
Moot?
No. It would just mean multiple ways to spread the truth.
Why would you want just one Free Speech platform?
Musk has gotten rich at the government trough. I hope he’s legit, but my gut tells me this is the intro to the next stage of the play.
It’s time to crack down on speech, hard. Since Twitter is now ‘free’, there needs to be a Ministry of Truth to police social media. Then, news sites, forums etc. This may be a big pivot.
I would guess a large percentage of twitters staff are made up of foreign H1B employees from India etc..who dont even know what the First Amendment is.
they have to go back.
There were hopes Trump would address the H1B visa problem, but alas, nothing – nada – zero – zilch. In the mid-90’s there was a great deal of optimism that IT could lift even inner city kids into high paying jobs. The idea being, kids who learned how to code, could excel even without a college degree. The demand was exploding, and the supply of knowledgeable workers was limited.
Corporate America decided instead, to import Indian workers with a claimed, but unverifiable degree, at a fraction of the cost. It continues to this day.
As a cellular telecom engineer for 25 years, starting with Motorola, it’s now nearly impossible to get a job without going thru an Indian contract agency. They even spoof a US number for calls to job candidates, but their call centers are located in India.
The Indian talent is brought in at as little as $15-20/hr for contract jobs paying $100k/yr for starting positions. The contracting agency gets the differnce, while the H1B workers focus on a path towards US citizenship. Some are bright, but remarkably most do not even know Unix/Linux, the standard OS in telecom, so they’re trained by the Americans, whom they eventually replace.
After a couple decades of this, the managers and VPs of telecom companies are now mostly Indians. They hire their own, and get kickbacks from the consulting firms who supply endless trainees, now trained by the Indians who were originally trained by Americans.
I imagine it’s a similar story in any tech coding job, but without the specialized knowledge-set unique to cellular telecom.
If we really want to MAGA, there needs to be another 20-30yr immigration moritorium, to rebalance the scales and allow now legal immigrants to adapt to our original [non-woke] values.
Being a Bell brat, my understanding was that the Ma Bell breakup was to ensure MCI etc an opportunity to compete….renting att lines werent enough for the powers that be….they wanted total and complete control….the only way forward was to destroy the Bell System…
Kinda like the train system….at least in Philadelphia…which the government ruined…
Looking back though…it appears that this was a way for the govt to further insinuate itself in the private communications sector…Bell Systems were already balking at the affirmative hiring requirements imposed by the govt….the top executives resented having to hire folks who werent qualified to do the job simply to appease the govt.
My father was a Bell man through and through, as were his peers….after his death in 1978, Bell Systens came under attack…his level 5 friends were given golden parachutes and were forced to retire….with a ‘younger set’ coming in to run things…
You know….the Old Guard at Bell ran the business as a business…when the Operator Union went on Strike, it was the executives who filled in to keep the Operator system moving….Can you see that happening today???? I dont think so….
So…in hindsight…I would say that that our government has been interfering, involved and even controlling information, since the late 70s/early 80s….
Coincidentally, the conservative Philadelphia paper, The Evening Bulletin, was pushed out of business during that same time period to the consternation of many Bulletin readers…
I love this Elon Musk phenomenom….even if it doesnt pan out the way I hope…to see the cockroaches scurry is worth the news cycle…..
I started my career with Western Electric and Bell Laboratories. I lived thru the Bell System break up and telecom hasn’t ever been the same.
My thoughts exactly😊
I worked across the street from Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ for about a year and a half in 1981-82. The young people who were hired at Bell Labs rented apartments close to mine and were the smartest computer people I could imagine. I went on later to a research career (biomedical engineering) partly because I admired the researchers from Murray Hill.
When my dad was a Bell engineer ( 30 year man) “the younger set” were called “Jet Jobs,” promotees who never stayed in a job on the way up long enough to learn how to do it.
Daddy began with Bell in 1949 when hiring was tough, even in the Ivies…10 men…3 got jobs…at the time he was hired..
He loved his work…and was a company man…his peers were company men…
That changed in the 80s….everyone wanted instant gratification rather than putting in the time and work….the money chase was on…..honor and integrity were out…
Hence…underlining Lindy’s remark above…
Many-years Bell employee here. Went through its breakup. So much I could say…
In 1979 I worked in a grocery warehouse in which the warehouse workers were Teamsters. They went on strike and all executive and office workers kept the company running. I don’t see that happening anymore.
BTW, many of those Teamster’s were making $25.00 an hour. in contrast, office workers were making apx $6.50 per hour, much closer to the average at that time. After the strike, office workers understood all too well just how much the Teamster’s were being overpaid for what they actually did.
A few short years later, the company went bankrupt. Of course, the typical commie union response was to blame the “greedy” corporation. Lol.
Treepers I read most of this comment thread and I have to say… y’all are very upbeat and I’m loving it! We’re coming off of a crappy rainy and cold week and I was starting to sink. But tomorrow-transition to summer and 5-6 days of 90 and sunny!
I don’t mean to bring the conversation down but why wouldn’t we expect the SEC and/or FTC to either try and say “no” or at least drag out their approval (of the acquisition) as long as possible? They didn’t exactly get along with Elon to begin with and if we are overjoyed they likely feel the opposite. I could see them delaying things past the midterms and in the meantime have Twitter really get repressive.
Why does “Chicken Little” come to mind.
I’m fully expecting them and congress to try to change law to make this kind of takeover far more difficult.
Entirely possible, even probable. Obama weaponized the SEC and FTC during his first two terms, and since he is now president for a third term there is no reason to think he won’t do it again.
Dead. On.
The SEC will likely have no reason to prevent Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, according to all reports.
I knew something had shaken DC and it’s big tech owners up when the equivalent of “50 intelligence agency officials” put out a warning about breaking up big tech. I’m betting the uniparty now tries to change corporate law to try and make another Musk style takeover far more difficult.
Those damn flying toasters were the beginning of Silicon Valley Leftism.
We should have ended it there and then!
“Something is A-Musk”
…who also happens to be building out his own satellite internet platform called StarLink.
I stated the same on an older thread when I considered why Musk would buy Twitter. His plan is to extend to a network independent of the current ISP providers, who for sure will be the next to be pressured into censorship of content. People would pay for content if the pricing was competitive with current satellite competitors in all ways.
I might add he has the ability to raise capital to build his own Cloud. He certainly has enough smart people in his current businesses to guide him. I may be wrong, but history has shewn [Jefferson] the digital equipment we use today tend to be a commodity tomorrow.
Coming soon: Space Laws
Godspeed.
I read today, on Malone’s latest substack, complete with spreadsheets and links of WEF people, that Musk will be a 2022
graduate of the Leaders class.
If this is true, consider this along with his current “love of free speech,” please.
What would this mean to the stated WEF goals?
I’m betting Truth goes the way of Parlor with a side of Breitbart. All the propaganda one can handle and all the data collection in the world to steer it with a dash of censorship to boot!
We shall see ..
Sounds like he is going to monitor his employees….. the infosec aspect hints to me — he needs to get and keep a reign upon his assets & make sure he can protect the value (changes) he wants to create … getting existing management on board will sure get their attention…
he will need to watch out for insider issues big time…
Since about 2012 there has been a shift in globalist companies trying to beat the market by implementing stock buyback programs. This has been necessary since Obozo started to destroy the middle class purchasing power—the real driver of a healthy economy. The economy has been hollowing for a decade now. Trump tried to reverse this—which he briefly did—but the boulder of destruction accelerated even while he was still president, with the scamdemic expenditure and systematic assault on the economy by the NWO crowd. Even before he was rushed out of office, the gains he presided over where being obliterated, and now we have gone farther and faster, deep into the pit of economic destruction. The Fed and the Treasury were weaponized against us, now with the gov/banks coming directly against the working class—many workers lost their jobs due to the vaccine requirements (paid/pushed by the Executive Branch), many businesses closed due to the lock-downs, the supply chain/manufacturing got hit hard as well—all source income to the middle class. Finally add inflation to the mix and the already stretched working class had to start cutting spending (e.g. canceling Netflix, Prime, etc.). So the combination of companies making money, not buy selling more products but by buying their stocks at with low interest rates, and the middle class losing their reserve, and the table was set for disaster. Now comes the increase in interest rates, making loans for buybacks more expensive, and the party is over. If they don’t reverse the interest rates in the next few weeks, the Dow will slim, and the companies that had no reason to exist/do well will close-→more unemployment-→ unrest/collapse. There are other contributing problems such as manufacture the was in Ukraine and its ramifications (But the train of economic destruction had already left before Putin crossed into Ukraine). So all the hollow companies will now show their true state—hence the lay offs announced. More to come. The thing about decadence and collapse, it appears they transition seamlessly into each other, though one does not really know how quickly they could do it. Pray that at least the CTH visitors are prepared spiritually and materially for what may come in the next few months. May the Lord have mercy upon us!
Somehow betting of Free Speech being the next trend became one of the greatest entrepreneurial moves in history.
It’s a bet against the entire current government racket of controlling and making us pay for their information.
Even Elon isn’t big enough to beat that, so I see this as really a bet on people’s will overcoming the criminal government.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐛 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 😟😔😥☹️
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is VERY different from Amazon e-commerce. AWS provides cloud services. Amazon e-commerce is online shopping. Completely different business models. The WaPo article linked is talking about Amazon e-commerce. Specifically the over hiring of staff in warehouses for shipping of e-commerce “online shopping” during Covid.
If anything it points to more people shopping back in brick and mortar.
AWS is a very viable business model as the trend in tech has been to move from on-premise to cloud since it can be cheaper to rent computing power and storage vs owning (and maintaining) the hardware to do so. Now if it’s assumed Twitter is paying AWS for cloud computing and/or storage, which would be a HUGE sum of money, but decided to move their operations to on-premise (as Musk alludes to in tweet)… well that would be a big revenue loss for AWS. However, none of that is represented in the WaPo article and would be huge speculation without a source otherwise.
