It’s not the apex of institutional hypocrisy, rather it’s the unmasking of political ideology. The ACLU is filing a lawsuit today in Virginia demanding that mask mandates against parents and student civil liberties be reinstated.
The ACLU wants the Virginia mask mandate reinstituted. The ACLU does not want parents and students to have a choice on whether to wear a mask.
The Washington Post headline is akin to folding the universe upon itself and looking back through the mirror: “ACLU challenges Youngkin order mandating choice on school masks.”
The civil liberties organization is arguing against allowing civil liberties.

The plaintiffs represent 11 students with conditions that include cancer, cystic fibrosis, asthma, Down syndrome and diabetes that make covid-19 more dangerous.
“Universal mask use may be necessary to protect some children,” the plaintiffs write. “For many of these children, Governor Youngkin has effectively barred the schoolhouse door.”
Eden Heilman, legal director for the ACLU of Virginia, said parents from across the state reached out to the group. “Some are keeping their kids out of school if they are able to,” she said. “Some work and there is no virtual option, and they simply have no choice but send the kid with a mask and hope that their kid doesn’t contract it and suffer really dire health consequences.” (read more)
No one is stopping the plaintiffs from wearing a mask. The plaintiffs are demanding that everyone else must wear them.
This lawsuit is akin to the FAA dropping their mask mandate for air travel, and yet the ACLU suing the airlines to keep every airline traveler in masks because immunocompromised people need to fly.
If it seems bizarro world the American Civil Liberties Union would be suing to keep civil liberties and choice away from people, it would be; except that the ACLU does not exist to promote civil liberties, the ACLU exists to advance political ideology under the guise of civil liberties.
The mask dropping from institutions continues (no pun intended).

Weingarten and her comrades want permanent hammer-and-sickle lapel pins, swastika armbands and Little Red Books of Chairman Mao. They really want permanent lockdowns and an unending state of emergency as in the films “Songbird” and “Twelve Monkeys”, with Weingarten and minions hauling people away to quarantine camps forever as in the former, or in charge of a geeky oligarchy as in the latter.
We’ve always known that the ACLU was just another Leftist front organization; this is just the ultimate proof.
They should just drop all pretense and shorten their name to AFU -American Fascists Union. Of course, that acronym means something else to a lot of people but it works either way.

I used to respect the ACLU, but that was 40 years ago when they had a more accurate idea of Civil Liberties and actually defended many of them. But that was then, this is now!
With very few exceptions, the actions and pronouncements from the ACLU have been far left-of-center, for decades. At times it has been difficult to distinguish between the ACLU and the SPLC. based on the progressive garbage they both spew.

The ACLU of Illinois actually supported the Illinois General Assembly and governor last fall exempting the covid vaccine from the Illinois religious exemption law.

The ACLU of Illinois pontificated, “No one ever contemplated that this would be used in a fashion where an individual would be able to opt out of care, of a service, and then collect protection under the right of conscience.”
How pompous of the ACLU to declare that people don’t have a right to refuse the covid vaccine on religious grounds or any other grounds.
Illinois Governor Pritzker’s office referred to those who wished to seek a religious exemption to the covid vaccine as a “fringe element.”
“The Health Care Right of Conscience Act was never intended to allow people to avoid public health guidance during a global pandemic. The administration supports efforts to clarify the law, so it cannot be misinterpreted by fringe elements,” said Emily Bittner, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor JB Pritzker, in a statement.
The ACLU doesn’t stand for civil liberties as their name false suggests. They stand for governments and businesses trampling on civil liberties.

I believe that the Canadian truckers have done for us far more than we realize. Because they were the first large group of people to stand up against people who would take their liberties and livelihoods away in the name of political ideology (and possibly, in response to blackmail). They are beginning to “rip the masks off” of groups like the ACLU, who are being forced to take ever more unsustainable positions. No longer can they simply assume that no one is paying attention.
Like the woman who refused to go to the back of the bus, or the kids who refused to leave the restaurant counter, they are demonstrating the truth of what MLK wrote about while sitting in a Birmingham jail cell: “disruptive non–violent resistance works.”
It’s protesting mandates inside of huge rigs that makes their protest so impossible to ignore. Higher numbers have gathered in protests all over the globe, but people are small and easily crushed. Not so the trucks. (I like the farm machinery protests too!)
Everybody will eventually get the covid infection and should survive thus be enabled with natural immunity. These teachers are illogical idiots. They don’t think it through, just mindless robots. The ACLU used to be about civil liberties but then about 20 years ago – around the time BushChimpHitler became president – they got captured by the left and now it’s just another left wing group that is living off its past reputation.

When they use the word “may” in their statement you know it is not based on science.
