Quite remarkably this ABC report on empty shelves is not far away from outlining the truth. They are still obfuscating some of the predictable reasons, and they completely ignore the vaccination mandate aspect that is going to worsen the issue, but they are nibbling the edges, nonetheless.
The backward-looking comparative statistics they cite, “15% shortage for food and beverages” overall, are nonsense. The severity of unavailable products is much higher than that. You will note from your own store visits the most unavailable products are the manufactured food and heavily processed products.
The raw material shortage inside the retail manufacturing supply chain path, combined with the increased demand on those manufactured sectors, is the direct cause of the manufactured food shortage. {Go Deep} [Example: a high demand for citric acid means complex foods that use citrus flavorings (ie. sports drinks) are in short supply. Chase that backward, and you see shortages in citrus & higher citrus costs, etc.]
Each seemingly small issue creates another small issue, which creates another small issue, which ultimately pokes holes in the supply. Poke enough holes in enough small categories from manufactured condiments to manufactured drinks, to manufactured cereals, pasta, grains, soups, pet foods, and the complex food processing system overall begins to show the larger problem. It’s a system collapse by a thousand paper cuts.
Some well intentioned people will claim the shortage of processed and manufactured food is a good thing, and people should eat more fresh foods and be healthier.
Let me be very frank about this. Without full-service fresh prepared food delivery operating normally (restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, lunchrooms, food trucks, venues etc) there isn’t enough fresh food in the U.S. retail distribution system (grocery chains) to feed 350 million people.
We simply need processed and manufactured foods.
Additionally, many of those manufactured foodstuffs (spices, sauces, etc) are additives to what people call “fresh food” preparation. If you want salt, pepper, olive oil, butter, tomato paste, pasta, flour, etc., you need processed and manufactured food.
As we go into this phase, the ABC report was correct on where these issues will be less noticeable, less fragile. The smaller grocery outlets with closer connections to the field. The closer the grocer is to the farmer, the less fragile they are in this shortage phase. “Grocers” (traditionally defined) will do better than “supermarkets”.
Also think about it like this. Does your grocery store have an in-store bakery? If so, their ability to make bread means they are less susceptible to running out of bread. If processed industrial bakeries experience issues, your in-store bakery may not. You will pay much more, but the product will exist. The key is having knowledge of where the product exists.
On a supermarket basis, the total operational excellence comes into play now. Top shelf field-to-fork operations like Hannaford, HEB, Publix and Wegmans will fare much better than Kroger, Ahold, Giant Eagle, Albertsons, Shop Rite, Meijer, Safeway, Winn Dixie etc. You can see how the former group rely more on fresh product supply chain relationships, and the latter group are weighted heavily toward low-price highly manufactured.
What are you seeing around you?

Was not too long ago farmers had to dump milk and plow under crops due to covid lockdowns. They sent their beef to the butcher. It takes years to repair.
Problem is, the system cannot be repaired because the system is not the same.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/01/09/temporary-empty-shelves-are-not-a-supply-chain-crisis-it-is-important-to-understand-the-difference/
“What CTH has been describing for the past several months is NOT what is noted above. What we have been describing is a long term supply chain crisis that will slowly unfold over a period of about a week or two, and then remain a problem over time, for a period of 6+ months. {GO DEEP}”
Yep..
This has to be intentional. The WEF wants a new system. The great reset. They openly said over and over that c19 was going to be used to reset the global economy.
Definitely intentional.
The perfect storm is by design. #Empty shelves Joe
We need those “I did that!” Biden stickers on every empty shelf.
Reminds me of the 70’s. I just can’t decide if it was the 70’s in America or the Soviet Union.
A truly sad observation, Comrade.
When oil got expensive, Biden opened the Strategic Oil Reserve.
When food becomes scarce, Biden will open the Strategic Cheese Supply.
I remember when a lot of Appalachia was living on gvt cheese and peanut butter thanks to Carter.
Bad times for sure.
I do not buy American cheese for that reason.
Peanut butter oil…….
Folks will either understand that and recall the visual, or they won’t.
You jest, but the Strategic Cheese Reserve is a real thing. The federal government, through the Commodity Credit Corporation (founded 1933), buys surplus dairy products to provide assistance to farmers to stabilize the price of goods. In a depression, or stagflation (ahem), people cut purchasing driving down revenues, which can put suppliers out of business and hurt long term production.
Reagan authorized the direct distribution of “Government cheese” to families in need under the “Temporary emergency food assistance program”. After funding was reduced to almost $0 in 1997, today the program distributes $1.6 billion a year in food assistance.
https://www.fns.usda.gov/tefap/emergency-food-assistance-program
Takes about two years for the live beef cycle to restore itself and start growing output again. Obviously, shorter cycles with hogs and poultry. The government needs to get out of the way and let the American agricultural sector rip.
Unfortunately, the desire of the government to control everything makes that difficult.
Local walmart had no beef at all this morning, completely out. Not even the higher grades of angus, etc.
Where are you please say where you are folks.
So … There is a distinct possibility in my mind that they know exactly what the consequences are, but they also know a large percentage won’t be eating. The percentage shortage seems to align with the percentage vaxxed.
Also, FJB.
“So … There is a distinct possibility in my mind that they know exactly what the consequences are, but they also know a large percentage won’t be eating.”
Nice. Now extend that out. Where does that lead us? Play it out and think of the possible landing spots for the nation in an election year.
Not saying it WILL go there. Simply saying, play it out and think of the possibilities for THEM. Why? Because as your sentence above indicates, very little they do disastrously is by accident.
It’s not accident or incompetence (Biden), it’s by design.
🇺🇸💪👍👍👍
Yes. Thanks. Exactly what I said “very little they do disastrously is by accident.”
We’re good.
Many decades in the making.
The best source for info is your favorite cashier at the grocery store. They will give it to you straight and they will see far more on any given day than you can.
Yep. Our church friend Ray, who is a stock guy at our local grocery store, warned us 4 weeks ago they were having problems getting in their orders and that food shortages were coming soon. God Bless Ray!
I spoke with a lady at our local Natural Grocers. She told me that, although they are receiving stock, it’s not always in the quantity they order. She said they may order 6 cases of product & only get 3 cases in their delivery 😐 They are a small regional chain.
How many container ships are sitting in the ocean fully loaded?
California intentionally delays the unloading.
Those container ships may have have food stocks in them, but not perishables like produce and meats.
My favorite checker tells me that more and more are paying with cash but also that they ask to use her guest card. They don’t want big brother knowing what they purchase but want the discounts. Your personal card also gets one fuel points to be used for discounts but she said people are willing to let those go because they want the privacy from an intrusive government.
Of course people are using cash and emptying their savings accounts. Our government cannot be trusted. They’ve got lists of lists on everybody. They’ll call people “hoarders” and make it illegal. They did the same in Nazi Germany. The government confiscated everything and sent the unclean off to the camps. And there are actually Americans who think (eye roll) that people who buy in bulk are the problem! Rather than thinking how wise it is to have a stocked pantry for the hard times coming.
#MassFormationPsychosis
Retired Magistrate here: Went to my local Kroger store again yesterday to pick up some more items on sale. Everything was fairly well stocked even the frozen potatoes. Lots of paper products on sale so I took advantage of buying more. This Kroger store has a Manager’s Special section for baked goods so I buy those and freeze them.
As a result, we are as stocked as we can be. I keep telling people now is the time to stock up; some already are, others don’t have a clue but seemed to listen and said they will stock up and others….well, let’s just say they think I am one crazy old lady.
Yes, I lived through the Carter years and things were really lean then. However, both my parents lived during the Depression and the make do, use coupons, and stretch what you have mentality has stuck with me and has held me in good stead all my 74 years. With praying and planning we will survive this.
Oh, as an aside, today was our January potluck at our church. After the sermon we all went downstairs and had a wonderful potluck lunch. Our small church has a lot of good old fashioned cooks and bakers. So, we all had fellowship, food and fun. Blessings to all.
I say you are NOT a crazy old lady! Rather, a wise one.
This makes me wish most my grandparents were still around to give advice. They were the gardeners, canners, and shade tree mechanics. They could recombine odd ends to make a decent meal, and could recycle as well as anyone.
Fellowship will sustain us in the storms to come. Those who own all the devastation have no idea what a powerful thing that is. Or Who is at the centre of that fellowship.
Amen. He is at the center. Jesus Christ…!
A few years ago I was at a country church potluck. There was enough food for an army. One big difference between a church potluck and a buffet is with the potluck the meat dishes are first and the filler stuff is last. Anyway, at the very front of the line was a big country ham baked in an orange juice glaze. A little old lady was there to slice it into slabs about 1/2 thick and about the size of your hand. I held out my plate and she plopped a big center cut on the plate. I asked her if this was a Kosher ham. She said it is a Coon Creek ham so it better be.
” I asked her if this was a Kosher ham. She said it is a Coon Creek ham so it better be.”
HA!
I’ll be passing that line around, thanks!
“Kosher ham”! 😀
How about asking if it was a Halal ham?
I learned to can because my grandfather did. I was always so impressed by his jars of colorful food when I was growing up.
I’ve tried to tell my daughter and her husband to stock up but they are young and living close to paycheck to paycheck. Fortunately, he was just promoted and is making mire and she is close to getting a new job and making more as well. In the meantime, I stock up not only for me but for them, just in case. They lived with me for 10 months, moving out in July and while I love them, I don’t really want them back so if I can help them with some food uf need be, I would rather do that, lol!
The Conservative Treehouse should be REQUIRED READING FOR ALL.
The information is beyond anything we’ve ever seen on the internet.
👍🏻 Just beginning my lucky seventh year reading here and being lucky enough to have found the place!
Same here. I found this site during the summer of 2016, when I got “involved” in politics. (I’ve always known they are crooks and liars, and I am in my 60’s)
Little by little I ventured away from other sites as well as fox news on the tv.
Now I only come to The Treehouse. No need to go anywhere else.
Seems to me, the best and current information is right here!
My cousin called from AZ the other day to ask me when I heard about something, cant remember what at the moment, but he knew that I would have already known, because I am always ahead of things LOL. And THAT is because I come here every single day to read TRUTH!
God Bless The Treehouse and all of us in it.
AMEN
Yes, the Jessica Chambers case led me here in Dec. 2014. I had no idea then just what a treasure trove of info this site would prove to be.
Here, here; let’s hear it for Sundance and the CTH team!!!!! 🙂 We all appreciate you guys so much–and fellow Treepers, too! I learn a LOT from Sundance’s posts and these pages, each and every day. BLESSINGS to all of you as we face this next trial. May God help, protect, guide, and BLESS all of us in these uncertain and often downright SCARY times . . . .
Amen
I share it as much as I can.
No eggs.
Tip on eggs. I have not tried this yet, but saw it on YouTube.
Glasswashing eggs. It’s how families kept a supply of edible eggs through the winter before electricity, when the chickens would naturally stop laying for the winter.
Mix Lime (the kind you use for a mason’s mix) with filtered or distilled water in a large 5 gallon bucket. I think it’s a quarter cup of lime to a quart of water, but don’t take my word for it.
Place farm fresh eggs that have never been washed gently into the mix. Stores the eggs refrigeration free for up to six months. So you could store a whole lot of eggs now at the current prices.
You need to have a local egg farmer who is willing to supply unwashed eggs.
You also won’t find the correct kind of lime at Home Depot or Lowe’s, you have to order it online. A 50 pound bag of it should run you under $40.
Well worth it to have a reliable supply of edible eggs for cooking and baking.
True. It works. The important point, as you state, is unwashed eggs (but not dirty from chicken poop). You can’t get unwashed eggs from the grocery store. An unwashed egg has a protective coating in place from the hen. Once you wash the egg, bacteria can seep into the shell. Store eggs are washed/disinfected, then refrigerated. My hens are laying and it’s snowing (no artificial lighting), so you never know!
We heat our barn in winter. oil radiant. chickens slow down but still keep us in eggs. We sell what we don’t eat. Just enough heat to keep them laying. we use to use heat lamp but I could not sleep at night. Woreyed a chicken would fly up an brake light.
Caroline from the homesteading family on YouTube has a video on this. I’ve been intrigued and would love to do this, but you have to have fresh, unwashed eggs, which I have not been able to procure.
In the video she sampled them a year later and they were still good.
I’ve been told that states have laws against selling unwashed eggs. Haven’t confirmed, but that may be why they are hard to locate.
I remember seeing an old cooking show where they suggested breaking eggs into ice cube trays, freezing them and storing them in a freezer bag to use later.
I know that works for egg whites, I believe yolks may be different.
You have to scramble the egg before freezing.
One thing I noticed this week is that a lot of things that you could buy online from Costco.com and Walmart.com are designated as “in store purchase only”. Previously, they were available (at a mark up to cover delivery). I’m surprised those stores still deliver, considering the transportation issues. That could be for any number of reasons: low stock, transportation issues, trying to get folks back into the stores who had switched to online shopping. Who knows. I’m just taking note and making alternative plans. And one plan is to make a list of things I will no longer buy and will find alternatives for. For instance, I use paper towels a lot on the farm because of the amount of clean up I do. But, they’re really a convenience. Another, we always used Crisco to grease a cookie sheet or cake/bread pan until we started using parchment paper. It bothers me that I’m hearing that aluminum foil is in short supply and I use it a lot, so I’ll get more, but then ration it for myself. I’m not going to purchase commercial detergents any more, and make them myself from bars of soap. I’m just basically making a list of things I think I can find alternatives for and getting those basic ingredients stocked up. We’ll see how it goes.
Also, I’m thinking about the cost of everything going up every week and when I purchase just a few things from Costco and it’s over $100, that’s shocking. So yeah, Jen, I’m lowering my expectations. But, not in a good way. Saving up for more pew pews.
ammoseek(dot)com
There was interesting article on Zero Hedge explaining how the ammo supply is basically controlled by two companies and they are going to make sure the price doesn’t go back down.
With inflation, the baseline will come up to the current price rather than the current price coming back down to the baseline For this reason, I don’t see much further price decrease.
Stores, which lag in the distribution chain, have higher prices than online – but without any shipping costs. They had lower prices going into the shortage and higher prices coming out.
Lots of good quality import ammo available.
Yep, those into Curio and Relic are used to buying surplus ammo and imported ammo. IME it runs pretty good. Some surplus stuff has corrosive primers but regular cleaning takes care of that. Ammoseek locates the deals, particularly the can and crate lots on surplus. Good resource.
Search of rags by the bale. They are scraps from clothing manufacturing and are actually about the same price as paper and they can be washed. Expect to pay about $250 for 100 pounds including delivery. A lot of my industrial customers use them. They are much better for grease and oil than standard paper towels.
Excellent advice. I found some old sheets in the linen closet too!
Flannel sheets are the best!
Thank you. That’s a great idea.
There is a Goodwill Clearance center near me, s Indiana near Louisville, where they sell the leftovers from regular stores by the pound. Good place for rags.
puddings are made with cornstarch and milk eg cocoa bananas no additives and save $
Was talking last year ( 2021 ) to a department manager at local grocery store.
He said one of the reasons for canned food shortage was the lack of cans in which to pack the food. Whether that was because the work force was sick from the coof, couldn’t get raw materials because truckers were sick…probably an amalgam of all of them.
Wen to the same grocery store this afternoon. sign on the door:
“We are experiencing delays from many of our suppliers. Thank you for your patience as we work to replenish our supply.”
As noted in the article, many spots of highly processed foodstuffs were low to empty. One curious low spot was heavy cream. Only organic cream in pints was available.
It’s all interesting.
For my wife and I not much has changed. When I met my wife over 30 plus years ago she did very little cooking and even less now. I married her so I can’t expect her to turn into Betty Crocker now but I was lazy then and can’t understand y it’s not ok to be lazy now? Luckily for those of us who live in SW fl. , (Naples) there are 2 places which have a great display of prepared and fresh fruits and a great deli. One is Oakes farm and the other is it’s bigger brother called “from seed to table”. Also a very big President Trump supporter. Pray and pray more.
Naples isn’t that far from Immokolee either and that place is rocking this time of year with winter vegetables and citrus.
Thanx. Will take a ride out this week. Sadly, moved from Anna Maria Island a year ago. To be closer to daughter . Am not familiar with much outside of Naples. Naples ok, AMI so special. 20 years there. For those looking to come to fl . West coast of fl. is soooo much better than east coast. And TY for the tip fragemall.
Heavy cream has been scarce for months. When it’s available I buy it heavily.
How do I keep the embedded videos from auto playing ?
You need to block it in your browser…
Yep, I use ‘Disable HTML5 Autoplay‘ browser add-on in Firefox. Works good.
Can confirm Publix being well stocked. Noticeable bare spots were cream cheese, flavored drinks, and flour or anything made out of flour that was not made in house (pasta, crackers), but nothing was completely out. Heavy whipping cream was limited to one per customer though, so some weird issues in the dairy section. Strange to have milk but no cream.
Cream is a key ingredient in comfort food.
Forgot to mention the rice section. Could be a blip, but it was pretty picked over.
What was most noticeable was the prices just skyrocketed on a large bag of rice.
Go to the Indian or Hispanic groceries. I bet they will still be stocked with rice.
Or Asian. Better rice too including some types that are really good and not available in regular grocers.
+1 , Brown rice is so delicious.
I love the smell of jasmine rice cooking
I truly believe the combination of caramel coloring and aspartame that’s in diet cola caused my colon cancer. I drank it excessively for decades. Aspartame is bad stuff.
It’s weird that you would say that, I stopped drinking diet Coke about 17 yrs ago and would tell people I didn’t think the caramel coloring was good for me. My sister drank regular cola and died of colon cancer 5 yrs ago.
Since then I’ve learnt I’m diabetic and have been reading about food; artificial sweeteners are bad news but some believe that sugar is on par with cocaine, heroin, etc for addictive properties. I was told to use Stevia, eat lean meat and fish, fresh vegetables and fruit but not potatoes, oatmeal, eggs and plain greek yogurt which I sweeten with local honey because, well, it’s plain greek yogurt. Was specifically told to avoid dairy.
Last night I found a little video that said to eat dietary fat and glucose will get back to normal; bacon, steak, eggs, dairy, avocado, olives and of course there was a product at the end, smart blood sugar but I’ve spent money on dumber things than a book that can help me get off my meds. I’m off insulin and only on an oral med which I’d like to get rid of. Diabetes is too annoying and has to stop.
KETO, plenty of info on Youtube vids etc I have been KETO now for going on 10 years. I reversed type 2, cured apnea, lost 150 pounds, and life has never been so good!
When you give a kid a can of coke, you may as well give them a Budweiser. The liver damage is exactly the same.
I don’t preach, people can eat as they wish, but KETO saved my life. What a lot of people don’t realize, is many cancers need sugar to survive. Switch to allulose if nothing else.
I agree with you that KETO works for a lot of people. However, there are some people with rare heart and blood vessel conditions that absolutely cannot do KETO. I know one personally.
Weight loss is what saved your life. Most healthy, sensible, balanced diets will yield the results you have experienced.
Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and Diet Dictocrats
By Sally Fallon
An excellent book to have on the shelf. Animal fats are a key to a balanced gut (microbiome). It goes into great detail of how different foods affect the body. Nothing gimmicky. No fad diets, etc. Solid information including how to make healthy foods.
Check out Low Carb Down Under on YouTube. Others also.
Since 1977, scientists have warned of the risks of brain lesions, cancer and neurological disorders from consuming aspartame, which is found in thousands of products around the world including diet soft drinks.
It took me a long time to figure out Aspartame was causing my migraine headaches.
If I remember correctly, from a doctor’s book, it is similar to wood alcohol which is toxic! When it is heated, it becomes more dangerous than before!
Of course, the Greedy Globalists who made/sold it, didn’t bother to tell us that as they provided recipes that required cooking with it!
We are north of frederick md. Went to walmart for cat food (grocer doesn’t carry it) looking around there was more empty than full. Meat and milk seemed to be the worst off.
We buy our cat food, which is the only food our cats like to eat, at a hardware store, and yesterday they had it on sale.
Hardware stores carry a lot of hard to find items – not a great quantity tho and are slow to restock. I’ve been making a trip every week or so and checking things off my list.
That’s call mission accomplished to the democrat / communists.
I had no idea that Hannaford was a top shelf field to fork operation. Many thanks to sundance for that info…
I only know that they have become my routine local grocery – I also love Market Basket, but Hannaford has better sliced deli meat which I repurpose in many ways. So I tend to hit Hannaford maybe 3 out of 4 trips.
But every couple of weeks when I visit a friend further out in northwest MA, I frequent a local small “orchards” grocery. I got in this habit because nothing can compare to their apples.
Today I found myself buying all my fresh produce for the week there. No holes in their (smallish) shelves at all. And despite the location in an upscale town, the apples and produce are very reasonably priced in addition to being far better quality.
By the way – the Hannaford in the same exurban area had been hit hard when I checked it on Saturday. Many holes in shelves. In their case I am suspecting more of a hit because of jab mandates and employees out sick with the OmiCold than so much of a supply chain thing. But some of the more chronic newer shortages were in operation – picked over/empty shelves of juice, half and half, inroads in bread, of course barely any wet cat food.
My new quest for the lowfat cheese also, this time, revealed a shrinkage in the availability of ALL the cheese, and still the utter disappearance of lowfat.
Hannaford is one of 5 U.S. food store chains owned by Ahold Delhaize, a Dutch Company headquartered in the Netherlands.
Other AD chains in the U.S. are Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Fresh Direct, and Giant
ref. https://www.aholddelhaize.com/brands/
What, perchance, was Ahold’s position on Naziism in WWII? Collaborators? Profiteers? Not in existence?
Who owns it? Who owned it then?
Just curious.
I remember when it bought Giant Food. Closed the bakery operation, which was a loss because they baked the best donuts ever.
Giant also instituted those “black-owned” or “Hispanic-owned” signs last year. That was it for me. Have not stepped foot in one since. Ahold can G FI
The grocery shortage is transitory – just like inflation.
“Its mind over matter: if you don’t MIND, it doesn’t MATTER, see?”
Yes, it too will pass when enough of us die.
Dang! That takes courage, to leave your job to stand for your principles.
Brave! Generations to come, of his family should be proud of this man.
How far we have come, that a man should be commended as “Brave” and his family be PROUD of him, for leaving his job.
I agree, its just that its SO ‘in the looking glass” bass acwards!
Plenty of us have, though some of us got a kick out the door when they shut down our businesses. Never forgive, never forget. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
The parallel economy will welcome the gentleman in the video. Canada has one too.
Good video.
I know that road. Driven it many times to Abbotsford.
[Example: a high demand for citric acid means complex foods that use citrus flavorings (ie. sports drinks) are in short supply.
How many people know the citric acid in almost everything is made from……corn….. fed to Aspergillus mold?
Think about the ramifications of that.
Can you explain that?
My occupation took me everywhere and I got to see all manner of things most people will never even be aware.
Corn syrup put in giant tanks fermented with mold under controlled temps and the mold flourishes and we eventually eat the mold poop as citric acid.
https://althealthworks.com/citric-acid-gmo-mold-corn-author/
Margarine for example can be made from soya processed with industrial solvent. (think dry cleaning solvent)
I’m not sure if it’s the same thing, but manufactured citric acid, which, like you said, is in almost everything, causes widespread inflammation in the body. I read a medical study on it. I immediately went through all my canned goods. It’s not added to everything, but to a lot of vegetables.
I realize that Sundance’s position, and he/she is correct, is that a collapse in the supply chain of this magnitude is life-altering for Americans. I do see some good in it though. Processed foods are bad for us. I agree that people need to eat, of course, but processed foods are death to the body. We must do everything in our power to avoid them – which means going out of our way to save those family farms the Elite are destroying – by buying everything they produce. Just sayin’.
That’s exactly right. In the process of this mess we have a child who is boycotting everything on the left. Which means pretty much everything we used to do and buy from so the new routine is a meat market and as farm to table as we can get.
I thought this would be expensive, but shockingly it is not.
We still do Costco, Fred Meyer for a few things but Whole Foods, and processed foods, soda are out.
Having enjoyed great success and health on keto, a few years back, I switched the whole family over to a lower carb lifestyle. The first couple of weeks was more expensive as the boys satisfied their carb cravings with the food on hand. But once the kids began to be used to the bulk of their calories coming from protein and fat, the grocery bill went down. Turns out constant bread and cereal are more expensive than eggs, peanut butter (with a spoon)! and cheese.
We’ve laid in plenty of peanut butter and canned meats. It’s not fresh food but it’s still cheaper than eating cereal and bread.
Protein powders mixed with milk are a great nutrition source for a keto way of eating. I like Premier Protein and Muscle Tech.
There are lots of shocking factoids when you delve into how things are made!
I knew that, because I am allergic to corn. It’s terrible really. They use it in so many things.
Many beef processors douse the meat in citric acid. Our processor uses a hot water bath, but yeah. Not good.
Citric cid is sold in health food stores to aid in sprouting seeds. I bought it for a recipe for tonic water from cinchona bark. It is supposed to draw the goodness out of the cinchona bark. I think it is also used as a preservative for vegetables, whic perhaps prolongs shelf life.
I read a story of a car-jacking where the thief waited for the person to load their groceries into the car, then took the car. The car was later found, sans groceries.
This will become more common… Brace for Impact!!
I carry a Beretta 96D wherever I go. .40 cal 160 gr. JHP. I will not be a victim if I can help it.
Yep saw that during the last crash in the ’08-’12 period. Only had to say ‘step back please, sir‘ a couple times. Concealed means concealed. They apparently got the message. Took to parking with defensible shot lines though; one must consider collateral damage.
That was when I decided to leave California for good. Where I live now I can throw the groceries in the truck bed and leave the keys on the dash. Stress gone. Smile wide. Life extended. Just stay off my lawn 😉
I like your style!
Things will probably get worse because some people are allowed to steal whatever they want.
Oh wow
Ugh
Sig P365s for everyone!
Went to Safeway yesterday and it was well stocked. I live in a ski town with a lot of tourists and casinos. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
That could trigger panic buying, and then… all hell will break loose.
Virginia: lots of food shortages at the target Kroger and Food Lion stores. It’s been this way for at least a few months now but it’s definitely worse now than it ever has been. Instead of going to one store to get everything I needed a couple of months ago I would have to go to two stores and then three stores and now even after going to three different stores I still can’t find everything I need so I essentially go without certain things. The produce guy at Kroger yesterday told me that he was stocking everything they had and it was pretty pitiful.
Same here in our Hampton Rds VA Kroger.
“Et Tu? Chuck Todd Savages Biden Over Failing Presidency As Liberal Media Cuts Bait.”Zero Hedge.
Hard times are coming, may God use this moment to destroy the evil left once and all. May good prevail, whatever is coming, let’s pray that God uses it to save this country from this communist takeover over. Pray and be ready to get through this.
This is what Chuck Todd voted for.
I’ll say it again as a reminder. Eat local and eat fresh. Live healthier and better. Big box stores with all their convience is a trap. The cabal knows where people are weak and exploit it.
Think like a chess player. They established an outpost and exploit the advantages. In this case, eatting and buying local and fresh challanges their outpost with a bishop attack.
Support local farms and markets. farms are a blessing.
“Make America the Soviet Union Again”.
Wheat crops were devastated last year, and that will show up this year, and add to that China has halted exports of wheat citing the need to feed their own people.
I didn’t know USA bought wheat from the Fields of China… Lol.
China’s harvests were devastated by floods late last fall. They’ve been buying up lots of food stocks. Our wheat harvest was severely impacted by drought in the upper midwest.
China puts plastic in the dog and cat food and arsenic in flooring! Cadmium in the toys! Isn’t (Un) Fair Trade wonderful people
They don’t, they supply Hong Kong and Taiwan, but if you look at the pattern, for the past 12 months China has been buying up millions of tons
We have plenty of wheat, not sure why the topic came up.
So how much of this is due to the idiotic California truck emissions standards?
What if, GOD, allowed the left to steal the election because he didn’t want our great POTUS to be blamed for what’s to come?
What if GOD, will use what’s to come to get rid of the commies, destroy this evil swamp once and for all. This is a battle between good and evil and our GOD may be answering our prayers.
Many people need to wake up, maybe this will be the wake up call.
GOD is the only one I trust to save us. Good will win in the name of Jesus!
GOD will not “destroy evil once and for all”, until the very end.
He created us with free will, for a reason.
I meant in DC/swamp. Destroy their credibility, expose them so good people can take back the leadership of this country.
Agree, but I also believe God may have other plans in mind for His People and He’s had enough of the evil going on in this country.
Where the rubber meets the road . A Canadian trucker makes a short video saying this will be his last trip into the US. Will forever refuse any vaxx mandate. Show this to any who have difficulty grasping what is happening.

Yes, FOOD is vital, but ALL supply chains are experiencing disruptions, cause ALL supply chains have same vulnerabilities, and are being hit with same shocks.
So, car parts, building materials are also experiencing shortage/unavailable.
Used building materials, and “pick-a-part salvage yards are a viable option on building materials and car parts, in addition “stocking up NOW” for things you know you will need, later on is prudent.
Before the CFR Clinton/Bush treasons of Free Trade, in many we were much more self-sufficient. Pat Buchanan used to warn that putting us into those criminal & treasonous trade deals would subject us to the whims of the global economy. The man was a prophet
If we lose Dementia we get Kamala and she is sharp…
“It’s time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day.”-Kamala Harris.
She’s so incredibly stupid and so incredibly incapable and so incredibly unlikable. Just like Mayor Pete. People with the absolutely lowest approval ratings were put into key positions in the White House. Another “tell” that the Election was stolen.
I think face-lift Nancy who had a chinese “spy’ as her driver for years.
That was Diane Feinstein….though Nan could have her own too!
My bad. Thanks for the correction. I get them cali millionaire commies mixed up between Boxer,Feinstein, and Pelosi. 3 champagne socialist frauds
Both from SF though.
Dianne, you mean. As in “Frankenfeinstein.”
🤣👍.. love it .. reminds me of tv comics back in the day that would do a monologue sounding like college prof but make absolute NO sense..🇺🇸💪🤣🤣👍
I did my shopping at a small H-E-B store in northeast San Antonio on Friday night. The frozen potato section was mostly empty. It had lots of ham last week, but display has been removed. Fresh oranges were on sale, but their price had recently been increased so it’s a wash. There were a limited number of products for Valentine’s Day. Organic food was $5 off. There were a few weird Mexican cookies on the shelves, but that was about it. Pasta was picked clean, and there was no real maple syrup. There were very few frozen waffles available. There were maybe 50 cans of wet cat food available, and it was only one brand. H-E-B sells their own brand of flavored carbonated water, and there were only a few cases of the least popular flavors. Bread was low, but it was being restocked. There was quite a bit of soup. Milk products were stocked, including quarts of cream that have been missing recently. Fresh fruit and veggies were well stocked. There was lots of fresh meat.
One additional thought on processed foods vs fresh foods. When I worked with St Vincent de Paul, we limited our offerings to mainly processed food. It was cheaper, and it was the only thing that many people we served know how to cook. If processed food is severely impacted, then many of these people will starve. They don’t know how to go from raw ingredients to a meal.
Cool that you know about the real maple syrup. Most don’t realize they are using high fructose corn syrup. I helped tap maple trees one winter
What is with the frozen potato thing?
Rise in popularity of air fryers. They do a great job on frozen fries and tots. 15 minutes at 400 degrees, no cooking spray or preheating. Easy mess to clean, too.
People should have been prepared and if not they better hurry it’s still doable. I’m looking forward to the whining and misery among the Biden voters I know.
I stumbled across lib tweeter…. They are learning nothing. They think the trouble with Joe is he’s not left enough. 😒
They’ll just blame us.

Just got back from the grocery store in Porterville, CA. No shortages on anything, yet. Even the wet cat food isle was well stocked. The store I shop in is a family owned grocery store.
I checked the frozen potatoes and there were ample supplies of fries, hash browns, etc. Lots of fresh produce. Meats were all stocked. The only empty shelves I noticed were for Gatorade. Plenty of pasta.
I waited to go to the store till 2 pm when it’s usually pretty quiet. The store was packed and people were buying whole carts full of food. So, things may change here, too, shortly.
Thank you, Sundance, for your heads up about this in advance. When you first brought up the upcoming food shortage I completely changed my menus. I live, month to month on my little Social Security. I have been eating Ramen noodles for 2 meals per day in order to save some money. The money saved has been spent on stocking up for the future. God bless you!

I have never planned a bigger garden. We bought 1/2 cow this summer, and have heeded Sundance’s warnings, stocking up on everything we could. We bought plenty of seeds the past couple of weeks, assuming that we will be sharing them with family and friends when the soil is ready this spring. When the reality of food shortages finally sinks in to the masses, things could become very ugly. Now that the hapless media is finally beginning to send out warnings, that first domino may fall pretty quickly.
EnoughIsEnough: Very smart. That 1/2 cow will give you all the Half & Half you will ever need for coffee.
We bought the wrong half 😂
You got 1/2 the steer? LOL
LOL. As a mad coffee drinker who loves H&H I appreciate your joke. Enough, you are smarter than most. I hope the best for you and hope you are in flyover country and have some security weapons. Adorcam and Eufy have survelliance camera’s that can run on batteries and electrictiy. No monthly fees either, easy install
We are on 23 acres, on a very small lake, in western Wisconsin. Our neighbors are deer, turkey and other assorted wildlife. Life is good.
👍
Lucky you friend. I love waterfowl. You ever keep a list of what you get flying into to your lake? Goldeneyes are gorgeous.
We have eagles and every type of duck, hawks, loons, along with a huge array of small birds. Turkeys are fascinating to watch, and of course the deer, bear (hibernating right now) and occasional fox are a treat. There are many days I get absolutely nothing done for staring out the window.
An excellent opportunity to give up processed food and processed news.
Made a run to a small local grocery store yesterday. No pasta except for two small boxes of elbow macaroni, not one box of any type of crackers, dairy section was light and yogurt had been pretty well picked over. No half and half, meat was ok. Some frozen vegetables and a few bags of Tatar tots. We forgot to look at the chip isle, we bought the last two boxes of Raisin Bran .
,
A couple of weeks ago we did find Kroger brand half and half, but haven’t seen other brands since Christmas. Also a couple of weeks ago Kroger’s had a lot of egg noodles. I don’t know about now. Canned corn is very difficult to find, but we were able to find some in an out of the way WalMart a week ago.
All this wonderfully detailed information and no location.
Middle Tennessee, North of Nashville, South of Clarksville
Our Kroger has sales occasionally on exactly what we’re trying to stock up on.
I loaded up the shopping cart (brand new! all four wheels turned) with 2 pound blocks of cheddar, mozzarella and Colby cheese ($4.99 each). Also got pork loins, buy 1 get one free. Last week, they had half gallons of milk for 87 cents.
Other than that, the shelves are getting emptier by the week.
Where?
Intentional? (tied to Great Reset agenda). Or just typical Dem incompetence?
In addition to some of the other products mentioned, I’ve been having trouble finding hydrogen peroxide. Shelves used to always be full of it, but CVS and the local grocery store rarely have it now, and if they do, it is in small size spray bottles.
The dollar store has peroxide.
Okay, now it’s hitting home. I’ll be stocking up on hydrogen peroxide from every store. I use it regularly for myself and the animals.

was in our local n.w. iowa walmart yesterday, milk really low,one whole shelf of bread was gone,so kinda wonder if that wasn’t a certain brand.and talked to a stocker filling the open coolers.he said as soon as he puts chicken out it is gone within 5 mins.frozen hash browns were non-existent but french fries waffle fries were overflowing.one other weird thing is spices,we have been looking for weeks for ground ginger and still none.also canned mushrooms.
Just found ginger at the Dollar Store!!!
I’m NW Iowa, too. County seat town. We have two grocery chain stores, and a Wal-Mart. I shop the two grocery stores and get non-food items at the Wally World. Last week the two groceries both had very little frozen potato selection. Had I not read Sundance’s article I probably wouldn’t have made it a point to notice. Price hikes are breathtaking: store with lowest prices had all Campbell soups at $1.99 EACH. Other store was 3/$5. Fortunately I didn’t need to buy any. Meat supply is always good at the Fareway. Hy-Vee reconfigured their meat dept. Large chuck roast was $40!! Specialty meats like bbq chicken wings used to be about $5 for a package of 6-8 wings. Now? That same package is between $10 & $12!! Bread aisle always has holes.
Rural east Texas here. About 1 hour from any major city. @ regional grocery store, Brookshire’s…
No frozen potatoes.
No small containers of fruit juice left.
No Ramen noodles.
Local walmart: very little canned soups left.
Brookshire’s used to let its local managers buy produce from local farmers. It has been on and off over the years. I expect it will be on again this year.
Seed potatoes apparently in short supply.
Both South and Central Mississippi are showing no changes that I can discern. I have noticed that fresh vegetables don’t last very long after you buy them, but everything is in stock so far.
Walmart in Fairfax,VA yesterday was completely out of chicken and red meat. Went to Safeway two miles away and they had both items. Stored was packed.
“You will note from your own store visits the most unavailable products are the manufactured food and heavily processed products. ”
Which explains in part why canned pet food has been scarce for months! 😵
Michigan: shortage of wet cat food .
Cat litter is almost always empty at big box stores, but I think I know why.
This was happening about 2 years ago (pre covid) too. We have a neighbor who worked at one of these big box stores. He is a hard working guy who was retired but wanted to earn some extra money. Since he was hard working, they put him on cat litter restocking. The younger workers would find a way to get him to do all the heavy lifting and the empty shelves were just because no one wanted to do it.
Cat litter jugs are very heavy. Imagine restocking a pallet of them. Our neighbor has has several joint replacements and was lifting litter despite having rotator cuff pain and tendon issues. We were outraged to see him assigned to that area. He never complained, but did eventually quit and took a job at a home improvement big box.
Other shortages are frozen chicken and potatoes (just as Sundance said)
Went to Publix in Vilano Beach today, no frozen potatoes and still limited gatorade products but store well stocked. T-bones where on sale so I bought four of them.
Meanwhile there are still shortages, even if they’re not in your area.
It just seems to depend on where you live. We have had shortages since the shutdown, now getting a bit worse, others mostly seem to be in small/rural areas in red states no problem. That is why the USA is great…it is large…and diverse….
The why are you here?
Although we are justified to criticize that which is due to incompetence, one needs to watch these to be thankful for what we do have.
And I can’t abide by the starvation of children no matter what the politics of their country might be.

VA Beach. Went to Harris Teeter. Produce was well stocked. No blueberries though. No La Choy soy sauce there either. What’s with La Choy.? Plenty of Kikoman but I don’t like it.
Crackers picked over but lots of wheat store brand which I prefer. Milk VERY limited. Plenty of half and half.
Only one big jar of Applesauce on shelf. A brand I don’t like. Plenty of the individual containers.
Canned goods and soup were plentiful.
Thanks to treehousers we stocked up on dog food.
Maybe it is me, but I get a different ambience in grocery stores now. Sort of like the calm before a storm.
I am pretty well stocked. We might have to make do with canned goods but we could make do.
At grocer’s today; have the following to report:
Most items stocked reasonably well (for a Sunday); notable absences were potato chips and other large bags of chip-like snack items, corn meal (out completely), flour was scarce, drink mixes (like Crystal Light) nearly empty, instant potatoes stock was rather sparse, out of Quaker Oats (one of the items I was hoping to pick up).
Other than that, not all together awful state of affairs – btw, this is NW Louisiana.
Local Walmart no Hamburger at all, No potato products, soup was maybe 50%, no Ramen style noodle at all, Spaghetti was maybe 10% there, spaghetti sauce almost completely out. Will note, locally there seems to be a 2 week swing on when you might get something you want at our local Walmart as of lately, (if you’re lucky). Interesting though, our local chain had most of these items. I believe the EBT users are wiping out most walmarts, they don’t seem to go to the local grocery chain which is a far nicer/cleaner store, albeit prices are slightly higher. According to online data EBT folks are paid out once a month, at two different dates depending on their last name, so that would explain the two week swing on when produce is available.
