It is difficult to imagine how the Biden administration can possibly spin the economic reality of increasing, unavoidable inflation making the economy weaker over the next year. However, somehow, they will try.
The AP is reporting that 68% of Americans now say the economy overall is their number one concern. Meanwhile, the federal reserve of New York is reporting the inflation results from December are likely to be the same, if not higher, than the inflation results in November.
The Biden administration has continued to push additional federal spending under the auspices of Build Back Better as the bridge to offset the impact from their Green New Deal energy policies. In fact, if you look at how the massive spending effort has been shaped, it becomes clear the overall goal is to push a new energy policy and then hide the impact by using COVID as the cover for the subsidies to try and offset the impacts.
It is a sneaky program when reviewed in totality. Shut down oil and natural gas production, cancel leases, block pipelines and use the regulatory arm to shut down any additional growth in the oil and gas industry, including refinery capacity. Then, try to hide the consequences by subsidizing the core constituencies who would normally be immediately impacted.
Unfortunately for the Biden architects, no amount of legislative spending is going to be able to offset the massive economic impact of implementing the Green New Deal by executive order, regulatory changes and administrative policy. The American people are not blind to consequences, and when they start to look deeper into the causes of this inflation, what they discover is easy to see.
Gas prices jumped 50 to 60 percent and appear to be maintaining that level with no foreseeable change in the future. The plastics, fabrics, containers and ancillary products all created from petroleum are also increasing at a rate similar to fuel.
The manufacturing system, processing, warehousing and distribution costs are also directly proportionate to the increases in energy costs. Nothing in the supply chain or the consumer economy is unaffected; it is all connected and as a result unavoidable.
We will find out tomorrow how the inflation data from December compares to the reality of 10 to 50% increases at the store. However, one thing is certain, the inflation is here to stay for the duration – or at least until the unsustainable price increases cause a contraction on the demand side for consumers.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Heading into a critical midterm election year, the top political concerns of Americans are shifting in ways that suggest Democrats face considerable challenges to maintaining their control of Congress.
A poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that management of the coronavirus pandemic, once an issue that strongly favored President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats, is beginning to recede in the minds of Americans. COVID-19 is increasingly overshadowed by concerns about the economy and personal finances — particularly inflation — which are topics that could lift Republicans.
Just 37% of Americans name the virus as one of their top five priorities for the government to work on in 2022, compared with 53% who said it was a leading priority at the same time a year ago. The economy outpaced the pandemic in the open-ended question, with 68% of respondents mentioning it in some way as a top 2022 concern. A similar percentage said the same last year, but mentions of inflation are much higher now: 14% this year, compared with less than 1% last year. (read more)
The vaccine mandates are only exacerbating the issues, as worker pressures will only increase additional impacts to the supply chain.
We are facing the perfect storm for major problems. Massive and persistent inflation, a critical shortage of products and a workforce that is forcibly removed from operating the machinery inside the economy. All of this Biden administration damage cannot be attributed to bad policy, not at this scale.
This level of cumulative economic impact is being done intentionally, in order to put leftist ideology over the best interests of the American public. You know it, I know it and the broader American middle class are feeling and seeing it directly.
We prepare our affairs accordingly.
Peppermint Bitchy my expectations of you can’t go any lower.
Loled out loud at “Peppermint Bitchy”
I really think she just needs to be properly serviced , either as a human being or an Android whichever one she is .
Ewww. I’d rather have Cherry 2000
THATS her problem; NOBODY black, white, pink or purple, male, female, binary or even trisexuals (I’ll try anything ONCE, twice if I like it!) is interested in “servicing” her.
You know its bad when even the smorgasborg of wierdos and perverts of the Dems, offers any prospects.
My expectations for the Brandon admin were exceedingly low to begin with, in fact NOTHING they have done, so far has “pleasantly surprised me”, how COULD it?
An installed POTUS, Corrupt AND decrepit, a V-POTUS who couldn’t even stay afloat in the Dem primaries, and a Cabinet selected with NO consideration to merit or expertise, the ONLY criterion being “diversity”?
AND, the whole bunch being gang that couldn’t shoot straight Conmunists,..the question is WHO, in their right minds, expected anything DIFFERENT?
Apparently mine weren’t low enough, because he’s definitely exceeded them, by continuing to go lower…
Store shelves were empty an hour and a half ago of all saltines, no matter the brand, no matter the salted tops or the unsalted tops, no matter the wheat or regular.
I looked at my used-t0-be junk food addiction, Cheez-Its: SMALL box, $5.79. What the hell? Guess they’re trying to compete with gas here in CA.
Is it still a” saltine “without the salt or just a “tine”? Just saying ?
Bidens job program hires people to pick the salt off, so the reduced and no salt crackers all start as saltines.
Lots of people eating thin soup?
I went shopping this morning at a family-owned chain here in Northeast Ohio and shelves were emptied of many items — crackers, especially. Fresh fruit, such as pears, were in limited supply. However, chicken parts were plentiful because we have a local supplier in our area. Another area of concern, mentioned by the cashier, was how much natural gas bills had gone up.
2.99 for cheese its here in vegas, on sale last week. I split time between Vegas and LA, shopped in Brentwood a few weeks back, that was a mistake. At least double for anything compared to Vegas. The marina Ralphs is not near as bad, 10 to 20 percent more.
Economists call it The Red Queen Effect based upon the Red Queen from Alice who ran on a turn table. She cried, “I must run harder and harder to stay in the same place.”
But, Americans must work harder and harder to fall farther and farther behind.
This is one bright side of the internet – finding recipes; here’s one (there are lots of them) for basic saltine crackers:

make your own…better, I’m sure and not loaded with God-knows-what

There is “speculation” that a fired CNN anchor has some “dirt” on his old boss. This may be worth following to see if there is any merit to the speculation:

Hmmm. Would he have the initials CC and is he someone prone to raging on innocent citizens who dare to question why it’s okay for him to be out and about during his bout with Covid? Does he go by the nickname of “Fredo”?
THE MOST INCOMPETENT AND DESTRUCTIVE GROUP EVER ASSEMBLED TO RUN THE US GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY!
That’s worth screaming from the roof tops.
And I do scream it from the rooftops !!!!
Most destructive? Yes.
Most incompetent? No.
The unelected puppet regime of the CCP, installed after a color revolution, is very competent at its master’s desire to sabotage and so deconstruct the United States of America.
Yes exactly. I wish people would drop the sneering jibes of incompetence as they both miss the mark and detract from the reality of what is being visited (rather competently, I’d say) upon us.
Totally agree. I am not and have never been amused by Joe memes and endless focus on his cognitive decline. That is NOT the issue, merely useless distraction.
Soros himself has declared this is number one aspiration.
Oh, I totally believe they’re incompetent, in addition to being intentionally destructive
THE MOST INCOMPETENT AND DESTRUCTIVE GROUP EVER ASSEMBLED TO RUN THE US GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY!
change to: THE MOST . . . DESTRUCTIVE GROUP EVER ASSEMBLED TO RUN THE US GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY!
The group is very competent at implementing destruction!
Change the “Run” to “Ruin” and I believe you have it.
The destructive group, is larger and have been working diligently to destroy this country, since long before 2020.
Call them Uniparty, Political elites, neo-feudalists, or my personal favorite “tyranists”, they have been at this destruction my whole life.
The only difference now, is they have shifted from “the long march thru the Institutions” to trying to “at last close the deal”, as a result destroying one of their greatest tools (credibility) and openly exposing themselves by word and action.
Not “INCOMPETENT”, just part of FBO’s plan. FJB, FBO, FBG. FTA.
And yet with ability to steal elections and UniParty minions laughing at us while sitting at the bar thinking up new bullshit to irritate us…one has to ask at what point did THEY decide for how to live our lives?
It ends when we remove 535.
Lets get going I am not getting any younger.
They’re not incompetent. They just work for China.
Especially the big guy.
If I were China (CCP, actually) I’d want my money back, as they are actually doing a piss poor job.
Think not? EVERY war is ultimately a war for hearts and minds, certainly this one is.
Can you imagine therecis anyone, anywhere that starts a day, convinced the jabs are poison, but ends the day thinking “Gee, maybe these vaxs ARE the way to go?
Now, try to imagine the opposite; THOUGHT jabs were o.k., but not anymore; you don’t HAVE to imagine it, there are many commenters right here in that boat.
Try same thought experiment on 2020 election, you get thecsame result; NOBODY who has thought the election was theft, is going to be convinced it was “secure”.
On the OTHER hand,…
WE are gaining new members, every day, and they are losing, every day.
Tired, yet? Not me!
Evil. They are evil.
Yes. And they have always been evil. There IS true evil in the World, and (having plumbed the depths)) I know there is NO limit to the evil I or any human are capable of.
Morality is NOT not having evil within you, morality is recognising the limitless capacity for evil inherent in ALL if us, and choosing NOT to allow it to reign.
Competent at destruction. On a related note, will my COVID mask protect me from Radioactive fallout from Russian weapons with fissile fuel sourced from United States’ Uranium One? I should probably pay extra for the N95 masks…
“COVID-19 is increasingly overshadowed by concerns about the economy and personal finances — particularly inflation — which are topics that could lift Republicans.”
And now we get “the rest of the story” as to why the narrative is flipping AWAY from the Rona! Everyone is tired of it and they are going to vote for whoever promises to work on the economy instead!
Yep. A couple of months ago, I read where a Pfizer bigshot said he thought the pandemic was going to be essentially over by the first part of the year late Jan.-Feb.
Of course, planning ahead, Pfizer ALONE is forecast to make $50+ BILLION in the next 2 YEARS off their new Covid pill, and every big PHARMA has come out with one. Oh, and the pills are supposed to be used along with the vaxxes!
This sounds like they know that across the globe, they are approaching the tolerance level of the populace – BEFORE they are dragged out of their hiding places and Nuremberged!
HOWEVER, massive $$$ Covid testing material factories are being subsidized and built, and massive contracts for testing have been signed!
That tells this suspicious cat they plan to continue using biowarfare to get their way! After all, it’s worked so well for them!
They’ve clearly stated their plans, just because they are outrageous beyond a sane persons ability to contemplate, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t believe them.
They’ve decided that climate change by humans is going to destroy the earth. Many truly believe the lie, TPAB are using that as a tool. None the less, if that is the message, then taking total control of every consumer, mostly in the western world mind you, is the morally superior position, than allowing billions of carbon based life forms to destroy the planet. We are nothing more than parasites to them. What do you do if you have parasites? That’s the plan.
vikingmom: Yes, because everyone knows that problems caused by one set of politicians are easily solved by another set of politicians, especially when both sets of politicians share about 98% of the same members.
Oh, I am well aware that it is simply a game of musical chairs but nevertheless, many voters continue to turn out the incumbents, in hopes that THIS time, the “new” bureaucrats will actually follow through on their campaign promises.
Actually, it is very hard to “turn out” the Incumbents, and not get same old whine, in a brand new bottle.
THEY have written the rules, and rigged the system, which they operate, to insure they stay in power.
You have a better chance of winning the big spoofer prize at a Carnival game, than wresting power from the elites.
And yet we MUST try, by understanding their manipulations, educating others and not falling for it any more.
Political parties are not government entities.
They are private clubs.
They do write the rules and rig the system anyway they want.
I think they’ll combine the Delta farce and the Omicron farce.
Now they’ll have the “Deltacron” farce just in time for the next election steal.
I really think that the “new” scary, scary variant tactic has been tried one time too many. People are getting wise to it and a larger and larger percentage are not going to play along anymore!
I have no doubt they have something else planned to drop prior to the election in November but I don’t think it’s going to be round 42 of the ronacoaster!
They can do whatever they want with confidence because our power to remove them through our vote has been compromised.
After stealing a Presidential election once can they do it again?
Can and will.
In broad daylight.
No, it actually happened in the middle of the night.
In 5 states at almost the same time.
Yet state legislators swear it was legit.
That’s because of “Biden’s Build Back Better Blindfold”. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Obscured by takeout pizza boxes taped over the windows though , you gotta give em that ?
That was the best….or not.
That is the question… isn’t it?
Or is there a limit to what they can get away with…
… if the red wave becomes a tsunami…?
Thanks for fleshing out my question!
From one crusty old vet to another.
What limit does one speak of?
Bureaucrats spied on a President and lied to Congress, lied about Russia collusion for four years, Lawfare group ran inference, Light bird didn’t like his Commander and Chiefs phone call causing impeachment and DOD did nothing. For promise of federal coin State legislators stole our election and installed a pants pooping avatar. The the Damn republicans said and did nothing. Unconstitutional vaccine mandates enforced by private companies and media telling us government pissing on our leg is climate change yellow rain.
For this crew, tyranny is a game THEY play with our lives.
It all end when 535 are removed the pivot to the peoples house.
MTG seems to be a thorn in their sides.
Greetings, fellow crusty.
What limit…? Good question, indeed.
As “the system” goes… sadly, you are correct.
But as others here and Sundance have alluded to, there is still… we the people who out-number them. So, how much will we stand for?
I fervently hope that the ballot box will somehow still be in play.
If not… is there, or will there be a point where the will of the people come into play?
One way… or another.
I agree with your final point, I would simply go further back.
They (UNIPARTY, with total “Congessional Republicon leadership) used Fast/Furious, and turning a blind eye to other gun smuggling, to arm the cartels with military grade weponry, IN ORDER TO ramp up violence, IN ORDER TO motivate millions to emigrate North, to escape the violence, and then hamstrung border enforcement, to faccilitate their entry.
They ‘sparked’ the ‘color revolutions’ the ‘zero footprint’ operation in Libya, and the no name operation in Syria, IN ORDER TO funnel 100’s of tons of U.S. weoponry into the hands of Al Queda, in order to ramp up violence in the ME, IN ORDER TO drive millions of refugees up into the soft underbelly of Europe, and then govts there took a “humanitarian” view, and so opened their arms, faccilitating a radical transformation of the demographics of europe.
Things like Tea party/IRS are really minor, in comparison to these other two, but yeah the Republicon leadership were threatened by the Tea party, so the Obama admin acted, to protect the right wing of the Uniparty from assault.
This crap has been going on since the Rocherfeller Republicans colluded with the DNC, MSM, IC to torpedo B. Goldwater in 1964, after assasinating JFK, SO THAT they could get us into a quagmire in Viet Nam.
Finally, I would say there IS a small “rump” caucus of MAGA in Congress; MTG, Andy Biggs, Boerbert, and perhaps a few others, and we need MANY MORE, in order to attack the REPUBLICON LEADERSHIP, as THAT is the black heart of the Swamp.
That it will be a “red wave” is not in dispute.
It needs to be a MAGA wave; changing a seat from Uniparty-D to Uniparty-R gains us absolutely NOTHING.
Agree with Everything you said.
They have total control. They will never give it up willingly. We are beyond solving this with voting, the corruption is too deep.
For a long time, voters have mistakenly percieved elections as being “D vs R” and thats an illusion THEY have encouraged.
But, its NEVER been about that, at least not in my lifetime (65 yrs).
Its ALWAYS been about the Uniparty vs US. Call it MAGA, or Tea Party, or Regan Coalition, or Barrys boys, the Republican base has been betrayed, manipulated, used and undermined as the leadership pursued, by action and inaction, the agenda we now see exposed and mistakenly THINK of as “the Democrat agenda”.
They didn’t pay any negative consequences for rigging / stealing the election so what exactly is the downside for them ? Walk a mile in their Birkenstocks .
Yes, because nothing has been done to rectify the issue in the first place; or at least not that I have
heard – and wouldn’t republicans be shouting about election reform “from the rooftops” so-to-speak?/lol
Obama’s second term was most likely stolen, he was not popular by then.
It wasn’t stolen. Neither was his first one. They were given to him willingly by the uniparty. Look at Mitts actions the last several years, he’s one of them.
Them being the global cabal that is bent on destroying what we have known as the western world. For the sake of saving the planet.
I am personally convinced “Bush v Gore” was a giant gas lighting operstion, to;
Generate a crisis, where one didn’t exist.
At the time, only about 4 percent of voting districts used the funky “punchcard system” (remember the “hanging chads”?) but by focusing National attention on them, they generated a natural, expected and anticipated responce from “the general public”;
“REALLY? In the 21st century, we can’t do BETTER than THIS? What about COMPUTERS?!!”
This then generated a ‘demand’ that the FEDERAL GOVT. involve itself in “the MANNER of elections” which is a STATE perogative, and ushered in the Fed giving $, BUNCHES of $, to purchase Dominion and ESO systems.
Never let a crises go to waste really means CREATE the crises, in order to create a clamor for the Fed givt to “do something” in order to justify the Fed govt expropriating State authority, and citisens autonomy in a way that subverts the Constitution.
They have been using this tactic, succesfully, since early 1900’s, at least.
Ats what I secretly thought at the time also, Mr Bain Capital was totally looking like the grown up in the room after four years of Zero at the helm .
Is your middle name” Formation” by chance ?
With the full approval of the GOP:
Deductive Reasoning: The GOP Was “In” on the Steal
YES, of COARSE they were.
Anyone who doesn’t see that, needs to put down Hunters crack pipe.
They were “in on” the (failed)”insurance policy” an attempt to “Watergate” PDJT half way thru his first term.
McConnell and Ryan/McCarthy did far more to inhibit, stall and derail PDJT, than Pelosi or Chuck. They had the POWER to do so.
Thats why Ryan gift wrapped the gavel, and gave it to Nanzi; the Uniparty is like a tag wrestling team, and they switch the flag flying over the Capital from Blue to Red as it suits them for politcal perceptions and expediency, but it makes no real difference; its all kabuki theater.
It may not be the winter of death that Biden predicted but it will certainly be the winter of discontent for working class Americans. At this point, a working stiff would have to be dumber than dirt to vote for any Democrat.
There voters who are dumber than dirt. If there is one thing I have learned, “There is no shortage of unthinks”.
“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” ~ H.L. Mencken
Most are not stupid, they are complacent. Unable to see over their fat bellies far enough to realize they are the first to go..
Unfortunately, you’re right. I know some of them too.
That the Democrat voter base has “useful idiots” that some refer to as “libtards” is not in question, but it really gets us nowhere, constantly commiserating with each other about that.
The productive but uncomfortable work we need to do, is to recognise the Republican Base also has plentu of “useful idiots”, battered conservatives who, despite a lifetime if betrayal by the RNC, continue to fall for the GOPe manipulations, voting for “the lesser of two weavils” because “the Dem is WORSE!” despite recognising RINO stands for Republican In Name Only, in other words DEMOCRAT.
SAY it that way, in order to SEE how rediculous it is;
I am voting for the Rino (DEMOCRAT) because the Democrat is WORSE!”
WE need to focus our time and energy on edumacating the MANY useful idiot REPUBLICAN voters, who are still attributing Republicons in Congress behavior to “Stupid, lazy, greedy” or “plays by marquis of queensbury rules” and get them to understand NO, it is INTENTIONAL.
The only seats that count as wins, are seats taken by MAGA candidates. Anything else, is a LOSS.
…and many of them are unfortunately.
I live in a deep blue state. The true-blue committed Democrats all around me are now rewriting history to suit their current narrative: “Our inflation problems and our supply chain problems all began under Trump. Biden had nothing to do with it. The only solution is to pass a multi-trillion dollar stimulus bill.” Yada yada yada … the drumbeat goes on.
The dumb-beat
They are about 49% of the country, enough stupid people for them to survive.
They are taking the clot shot boosters.
My ‘expectations spectrum’ unfortunately does not go any lower…
It is impossible to lower our expectations of the Biden administration any further. Interesting numbers, climate change and racism are near the bottom.
Yet, last night I saw some Twitter posts on thelastrefuge2 where some people were posting photos of empty grocery shelves, and claiming that the shortages are based on race!
Some people have played the Race Card all their lives as a one-stop solution for their problems, and they will NEVER stop playing it, until they are told that it doesn’t work anymore!
Empty shelves are clearly based on race. He who gets to them first wins.
Take a look at the empty shelves at some retail and department stores (see the video of the mass
robbing of a Nordstroms in downtown Chicago) and decide for yourselves.
🤣🤣🤣
“Yet, last night I saw some Twitter posts on thelastrefuge2 where some people were posting photos of empty grocery shelves, and claiming that the shortages are based on race!”
Yep. Those who race to the store first get the goodies.
Never let a crisis go to waste. The bigger the crisis, the bigger the opportunity.
This is not new by the way. Communists always use the “anarchist” label when they do their dirty work and that goes back more than 100 years. Antifa has the goal of anarchy as the path to usher in communism.
Cloward Piven is the best known academic explanation of the tactic. Biden is simply the best chance the left has ever had for carrying out this policy.
Didn’t Comrade MaObama give The Cloward Piven folks some sort of award in the Rose Garden??
There is major momentum in the inflationary spiral and stagnant wages. There’s no stopping it now, it will run it’s course until the Feds stop printing money to accommodate the voracious spending by the Uniparty. There’s going to be a great reckoning when the music stops.
Used to be that you could park your money in real estate in times like these. As if there’s ever been times like these, but the dems have a plan to stop that too. The next place would be gold or silver, both of which now are heavily manipulated. I’m thinking of loading up a warehouse with good bourbon, and quality vodka. You probably will still go broke, but you’ll be popular with your friends.
Firstly, IMHO screw prescious metals like gold/silver.
Go with not prescious metals, like steel, brass, copper and LEAD.
Cause “he who HAS the lead, will end up with the Gold!”
Secondly, again IMHO some diversification into two categories arecworth considering.
ONE, things which are difficult to produce oneself, AND things which can, for a little while, enable those experiencing extreme shortages, to have a little taste of luxury.
And thirdly, take into account “addictions”.
So, yes people will always be able to make alcoholic beverages out of SOMETHING, but for afficianados, the taste of blended aged whiskey will be something they will trade a premium for.
Cans of tobacco, will remain fresh a long time, and tobacco will be very difficult to grow.
CHOCOLATE is difficult to grow/process.
Think of the oft repeated story of GIs in WW2, with nylons and chocolate bars,…
I remember watching The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington, and realizing the things people would barter with won’t be diamonds and gold.
Since then I have stockpiled the complimentary bath products from every hotel I’ve stayed in. I know it may sound crazy, but I’ll be the cleanest crazy around lol.
My problem is this doesn’t impact Biden voters, i.e., dead people, wealthy people, affluent suburbanites, welfare recipients.
Does it affect enough people to matter?
“It” affects ANY on “fixed incomes” and in lower and lower/middle incomes, and WILL begin to affect those in middle/high, SOON.
IF you can’t buy meat and milk, at ANY price, at ANY store in town, you are affected.
Put another way, “trickle down economics” DOES work, but it works BOTH ways.
A leaky boat drowns ALL on board!
I’m certainly not a Biden voter.
I could give a long list of details of how it affects me, but I’m not going to. Nobody’s business.
That is a clueless statement to make….”this doesn’t impact Biden voters, i.e., dead people, wealthy people, affluent suburbanites, welfare recipients…”
I am not any one of those.
Sundance’s headline made me laugh
Was it mad tv or snl that had a short clip on “lower expectations? Need to photoshop pskis face and Brandon strolling into the sunset
Anyone talented enough to try?
Mad TV had the “Lowered Expectaitons” skits.
I think Psaki is a Russian asset.
A Russia Russia Russia asset.
Let the years long investigation begin. Lol
since the 2020 lead up to the stolen election, my habits have changed. hair stylist and massage therapist close we cut our own hair (looks like shit) and rub our own backs. shortages in grocery stores make me buy everything I see when it comes in like Adams crunchy peanut butter comes in and I buy everything they have, our coffee comes in same thing, polar kipper snaks boxes. so I am panic buying. we have enough to last a year and to hell with everybody else is my mantra. neighbors have become much closer. schools irrevalent got out old Latin and calculus texts for grandson to hell with public education. Instead of the usual (pre election steal) 15,000 miles we now drive 5,000 at most shortages in liquor store makes me buy whatever is available. everybody on our road has arsenals and we won’t go gently
I would like to know how this has affected you all
When we lived in the USVI (St. Croix) the supply ship came once a week. If you saw something on the shelves you might want in the future you bought it right then because you never knew if it would ever be there again….
The USVI is an absolute mess. Chitago in the Caribbean. At this rate soon the entire USA will be Chitcago.
Cheers!
Same here in British Columbia.
In my early working life ( late seventies) I worked for a food broker.
I learned so very much about the intricacies of the business.
Here we are forty odd years later, I am still able to utilize the lessons learned to the benefit of friends and family.
I just returned from the grocery store ( A trip I take every other day)
Two 628 gram quality cereals ( $8.00) Campbells New England Clam Chowder 540 ml ( 5 for $10..00) all Canadian $ plus other stuff.
Our cupboards are filled upstairs.
Stock up folks…our shelves here in Southern British Columbia are rapidly emptying.
Hey this is nothing.. our grandparents brought us up, and they lived on war rations.
Their frugality was instilled in us.
Happy hunting!
Hello, D😊. Wondering about Justine’s no unvaxed truckers across the border edict coming within a few days. How do you think that will affect Canada should our truckers blockade or stop delivering. I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this. But the other way from Canada? What are your exports that we would be in trouble without?
Hi B,
Trudeau may be the worst of the bunch. He may destroy Canada before the next three years is over.
I can’t think of much that would affect you folks.
As you know.
Wood, and Energy are the biggies that we supply Americans.
We will be crushed..primarily fresh fruit.
Gearing up a garden, no hair stylist, just Great clips now or other cheapo place. Have had great haircuts though. Looking for new Chiro and massage therapist. Looking for a new primary doc. Yeah a lot has changed and will continue sadly.
Restaurants, bars, barber shops, and of course, church. Places where people get together and talk. Human interaction is the enemy of the Left. Leftists want anomic people – people who interact with the State and nothing else.
But if people sit home and watch CNN? Splendid for the Left. They’ve got control of TV and they want to keep it.
Fox News drives them crazy (if they actually watched, they’d feel better).
Censorship of the internet is, of course, spreading. Enjoy the few conservative outposts. I’m not optimistic.
I would suggest you consider that stockpiling only lasts SO long, and if the assumption is that “at some point this too shall pass” you are just HOPING your stockpile will last long enough, and maybe yes, maybe no.
SOME efforts to Self-sufficiency to sustain yourself, WILL make the stockpiles last longer, AND should this debacle last longer than your stockpiles, provide you with something to survive.
You say neighbors are aligned. How about a ‘pooled’ effort at growing your own food, community garden, etc.?
I just got off a call with my investment advisor. We made some key changes to my portfolio that will hedge bigly on what we both agree will be some brutal inflation and at least four interest rate changes in the upward direction coming soon to a Fed near you. He made a good point that banks do great during such times, so we invested in some bank funds. Makes me sick, but you gotta do what you gotta do. He has done great for my investments over the last several years. 2019 and 2020 especially.
Curious if he had any suggestions as to moving funds out of the market and into cash and bonds? Advice seems to be all over the map on whether it’s time to get out now or ride the wave for a little while longer…
My layperson’s thought is I would rather sideline some cash and not get hit with 40-60% losses
than take a chance to make a little more in gains right now. The inevitable is on the horizon.
And,if one recalls with previous downturns, it happens fast.
Agree. I know we’re losing out, but having been burned twice we have taken the view that we need to protect our “seed corn” and that a Wall Street casino is not the place we need to be.
When the tide turns in the market, as it always does, we can’t afford at our age to recoup the losses. And yes, I know inflation is killing people like us who are uber cautious. So we choose to cut our cloth to our circumstances.
These uncharted waters are starting to get very choppy.
Leave in what you can afford to lose the rest in cash or metals and food.
You don’t go into bonds in a rising interest rate environment. You will get killed. Dividend paying stocks, esp banks are good. Also the oil and gas stocks are shooting up due to price increases. (see Exxon’s performance the last month.)
REITS also (my favorite is WPC).
Nice post.
Check out Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Toronto Dominion Bank of Canada.
Look at what they have done this last year to eighteen months.
IMO your advisor is correct, he just may be a “little late to the party”
Wait for it – all economic ills and shortages will be magically fixed JIT for the SOTU speech and a stumbling Brandon victory lap.
I expect in order to keep power the Xiden regime will reverse all the insane “executive”* orders, the economy will explode, and then claim credit for fixing things. Worse yet the sheep will applaud and vote for the same thugs that rolled them the first time.
Nope, it ain’t hapening. SOTU speach will be Brandons most lieingest speach ever, and thats saying something.
Take a shot, every time he slams “Trump”, and you will (thankfully) pass out well before thecend of the Speach.
“I inherited a catastrophe, but now everything is peachy!”
Those with power and wealth – the elite, don’t have to be concerned about the cost of living. They don’t see empty grocery shelves, the price at the gas pump- because their staff take care of these things.
They exist in their bubbles.
They conjure up new and devious plans to cause mayhem and harm, in a desire to control and acquire obscene amounts of WEALTH and POWER.
Pitiful existence to lack caring and compassion for others.
Pitiful existence to lack love of The Lord.
Marie Antoinette
Yes, but there IS a layer, one or two rungs down from the level you describe; they are a LITTLE insulated, but NOT entirely.
They WILL be effected, with whats starting in about,…6 days?
Within a month to 6 weeks, they are going to be having a rude awakening.
These are $100,000/year households. They may have landscapers and pool service, but they do their own shopping.
Yes, there’s a huge gap in income between even the top 1%. Income drops off drastically after that. Being in the top 5-10% is not as prosperous as it sounds, but it’s still pretty comfortable for now.
I can say the “demand side” in this house has shrunk considerably long ago in anticipation of where we are now. It will continue to shrink as things get exponentially worse.
This is a nonpartisan situation. Inflation and supply shortages know neither Republican nor Democrat. As things get worse, I hope that those Democrats who say they couldn’t stand Trump but whose fortunes in this country were improving and massively so will reevaluate come election time. Assuming that elections make a difference anymore, which I believe given the scale of electoral corruption they do not.
Someone here posted words to the effect he asked his democrat brother how he liked paying so much
extra for gasoline and the reply was it was worth it to get rid of Trump so I wouldn’t bet they will see the light 🙁
I remember that, Mycroft. I was astounded utterly and completely. But irrational hate does that to people. And there are unfortunately many who think that way.
I’m praying, however, there are many more who have the wit to compare where they were economically with Mr Trump to the situations they find themselves now.
Hope is eternal.
Were it not I would have offed myself a couple of decades ago.
😊…glad you didn’t. That’s no answer. But you know that.
Permanent solution to a temporary feeling.
It truly is.
Bear in mind, that may well have been an ego salvaging “come back”, a defensive responce.
It may not reflect how the person ACTUALLY feels.
As prices go up, and supply shrinks, there may even develop a large group who “hate Trump”, but BLAME Biden, as (at a certain point) they begin to affix blame where it belongs, even if they can’t overcome their TDS.
They always say he lied all the time and was nasty, so I ask for 3 specific lies, I never get 1 and never get the rest they just walk away.
I got much the same from my Kool-Aid infused sister. She thinks Biden is “On the Right Track” to save the planet by pushing fossil fuel prices sky high.
When I told her the story of a Tesla owner who blew up his car because a new battery would cost him $22.5K, she was incredulous. She also had no understanding of the impracticality of “Renewable Energy Sources”.
I wish she would move next to a wind farm, or the graveyard for the worn out turbine blades. Maybe THEN she’ll understand that NONE OF IT IS FREE.
It is astonishing that people don’t realize that behind every Tesla is a battery needing to charge with fossil fuels.
If you accept the obvious–that a high % of people are pretty ignorant even about everyday things–it’s not astonishing at all. Not at all.
She knows nothing about what’s she’s for. Typical
Polls and public opinion mean nothing to this administration.
Part of it is founded in their sheer arrogance, part of it is founded in a reasonably justified confidence they can steal any future election.
The hubris comes from;
“WE have gotten away with SO much, for SO long, that we can now get away with ANYTHING!”
The fatal flaw is, they accomplished the “long march through the institutions” by heavily relieing on THEIR CREDIBILITY.
When Chronkite said “And thats the way it WAS!” people BELIEVED him.
When Republicons SAID they were opposed to abortion, and supported smaller government, people BELIEVED them.
When Dems SAID they supported abortion being “Safe, Available and Rare” a Wall on the Southern border, etc…people believed them.
People believed their Dr and hospital, and medical profession actually prioritised their health.
ALL have now SHREDDED their credibilty, gleefully throwing away whatchas been their greatest weopon, thinking they don’t NEED it, anymore.
(I GUESS?)
And it is that arrogance and hubris, that guarantees that ultimately they will FAIL.
Stolen elections have consequences.
You can neither spend your way to prosperity nor borrow your way out of debt.
Nor vote your way out of tyranny.
Nor comply your way out of tyranny / fascism / communism
“The AP is reporting that 68% of Americans now say the economy overall is their number one concern. “
And how many said Liberty?
The choice for mankind lies between freedom and happiness and for the great bulk of mankind, happiness is better.
― George Orwell
Huge (good) news, especially coming before any Supreme Court ruling or stay on the vaccine or test mandates:
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/amazon-cuts-covid-19-paid-leave-40-hours-us-employees-following-walmart
I’m praying that the constitutionally ignorant and factually incorrect (fantasist category) Sotomayor sounded so off her rocker that it shocked her colleagues into making the correct ruling. Our country or what remains of it stands or falls on this judgement.
That was actually my first thought. If I were a squishy vote on the fence I would make certain that I did not align myself with a certified idiot.
My thinking, VB, followed that exact line. Essentially saying, “I’m with Justice Ignorant”.
We allowed those a-holes to rack up nearly $30 TRILLION in national Debt, and NOW we’re worried about the economy?
I don’t recall “allowing them” to do any such thing.
It actually matters (a lot) who is occupying the places of authority and making decisions that affect everyone.
If you want to accept reponsibility for the $30 trilliong in debt, go for it. I’ve been living on a budget, on less than $22,000 a year, and at this point have almost zero debt. The hearing aids aren’t quite paid off.
So speak for yourself.
I’m sick of taking responsibility for stuff I didn’t do and am not doing.
Ahhh, the good old days………..I remember when presidential elections all boiled down to one, and only one key issue: “IT’S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!!”
Egads.
I once said that “The worst I ever had was still wonderful” but one look at that picture and I realize how lucky I’ve really been!
The choice is regretable but obvious;
Death before dishonor!
We allowed those a-holes to rack up almost $30 TRILLION in National Debt, and NOW we’re worried about the economy?
It won’t be long until their Cloward-Piven strategy CRUSHES US with unsustainable interest payments and our collective standard of living resembles that of the proverbial struggling artist who is ‘couch surfing’ thru his 20s and 30s.
Ain’t gonna be NO mommy and daddy around to bail US out of this mess.
You can’t ‘BBB’ (Build-Back-Better) if your not at the bottom.
We are not there yet. Just ask FJB, FBO and FGS.
Many Christians here will know the Cut-Flowers thesis, that a culture without Christianity may appear healthy, for a while. Then wither and die..
The western world has not existed without a Christian ideology for many centuries. Christian missionaries found receptive ears in the pagan countries of Europe. Clearly, it gave them something they craved. Christianity was not spread by the sword, like Islam.
Assuming that leftist atheists share Christian values, is assuming an awful lot. People do not know what they do not know.
We are not waiting the return of something that must return, like the cycles in the economy. The welfare state creates humans as feckless as livestock.
The current fashion and fad for anarchism among leftists, even mainstream leftists, assumes that Americans will labor mightily to rebuild the country, after the collapse Biden’s people are striving to create. And why? Because Americans now are the same Americans of centuries past? But you leftists loathe the Americans of centuries past.
I recall a journalist visiting post-colonial Africa. The people had stripped the tin roofs off the colonial buildings built by Europeans, and turned the metal panels into huts. The grand buildings were left to rot. The journalist pretended to be impressed by this rejection of western values..Why not that future for America?
Interesting analogy with the cut flowers – it works.
I think you’d appreciate a “compatible” series I posted last week on Trevor Loudon’s site. First installment:
Archbishop Vigano – The Church’s Churchill?
It was a splendid article, Thomas. Well reasoned and written. Thank you for drawing my attention to it.
Thank you Betsy! When you put your heart into something – as I did writing that series (I’m not paid for those, but feel called to do it) – it’s very meaningful when someone like you expresses sentiments such as yours!
Dennis Prager cites the cut flowers analogy often.
I think I heard it from him first.
That makes sense. I love his Fireside Chat series!
Imagine the contortions the speechwriters will have to go through for the State of the Union address and the bumbling idiot trying to deliver it trying to make Americans believe the economic pain they’re enduring isn’t real but the pandemic is. Almost makes me want to watch it….almost, but I’ll pass since I can’t stomach him. I’ll wait for Sundance’s summary.
I couldn’t wait for bidens state of the Union. It honestly felt like there was no possible way he could get up there after all that has happened. They first teased the idea of a ‘virtual state of the union” thanks to the ridiculous covid hysteria. Instead they reduced the amount of ppl attending by a very large amount, and required face masks and more ridiculous, “Social distancing measures”.
Then think of this, the last time Congress met together on the house floor was Jan 6th 2021, when a double digit amount of members had planned to object to there states electoral college vote.
And finally, going back 4 years before that day. Joe Biden was VP, nd president of the Senate. So biden had the job of counting up Trumps votes on Jan 6th 2017. The same job that mike pence had 4 years ago, and refused to acknowledge the fraud.
Thinking about all of this, and the 30,000 national guard troops surrounding the capital for bidens inauguration. I really thought there was no way this idiot can show his face and address Congress. He’s by far the worst to ever sit in that seat, by far!
Even with a greatly reduced audience, it still promises to be a target rich environment for any insurrectionists, bent on overthrowing the government, by armed force.
Any takers? Buehler?
Sarcastic point is, IF such a desire existed, Biden inaugeration, ot SCOTUS makes a lot better “target” than J6.
What ever word-salad FJB is scripted to say does not matter.
Their actions have proven that words, previously accepted government policies, laws, nor the Constitution really don’t matter.
It’s their show; and they are 100% ‘all-in’. Tripling-down.
Would anyone care to lay odds that the speech will be prerecorded from the safety of Biden’s Bunker and broadcast as if it were live, all under the pretense of “Covid precautions”?
Before the Bumbling Resident’s SOTU is televised, go back and read the transcript of Nikki Haley’s Republican response to President Barack Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address.
In light of where our country is now and is heading , it’s interesting to read Obama’s and Haley’s trashing of Trump.
Its easy, once you know how. Take a shot (liquor, not the jab) every time he badmouths or blames “Trump”.
Take two shots, every time he lies.
Take 3 shots, every time he mentions covid.
You will be blissfully unaware, in short order.
At least, given his condition, it should be a short speach.
I hate to be a Grim reaper about things but, you will soon be witnessing and experiencing the worse economic catastrophe in our history at the current trajectory of spending and inflation. The Great Depression will be child’s play in the coming years. I pray that doesn’t happen in my lifetime.
I think THIS may turn out to be the “SHTF Scenario” that preppers have been warning us all about.
Food riots
Flash Mobs
Car Jackings
You name it…
Got
milkgold?I don’t have gold but I have chickens that lay eggs. When people get hungry, I’ll may consider bartering eggs for gold.
Chickens laying golden eggs, albeit not directly. 😉
Who said, “It’s the economy, stupid!”?
The Ragin’ Cajun, James Carville. Worked for Clinton and coined the term to credit Bill for the Silicon Valley surge (tech bubble) and to get Bill re-elected.
Reality – a monkey could have been president to the same results.
Just another goofy leftist.
James Carville 1992.
The reset is already well underway. This is a feature meant to distract. One of many that will be played back and forth. It’s all just a highly elaborate means of herding.
This is what I expected as the wheels come off, but the administration and Congressional Democrats won’t even have the RINO filth on their side for this filthy finger pointing:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2022/01/10/white-house-inflation-strategy/
Who is most pressured/at risk by this sort of shouting, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. His Wall Street/Multinational backers aren’t going to give him any room to placate the lovely communist AOC on this one.
Today 10 Jan, I went to a brand new, just opened HEB here in the Houston area…it is a huge store and one would not know there is a looming food shortage..the store was packed with everything you could want….altho I did see sparse shelves in the pasta aisle>>> I did notice multiple price increases on about everything
New stores will always get the best and most to attract buyers.
These people are so disassociated on a mental and emotional level that they can’t formulate any semblance of the capacity to consider they may be wrong.
They know that they’re wrong, but they don’t care.
IMO They work for Xi Jinping.
The Communist plan to strip middle-class Americans of their assets continues apace.
Biden and Democrat politicians will economically destroy the USA.
All economic bubbles POP.
The 2022 Home Foreclosure rate and crash of the
Stock Market Bubble will dwarf the collapse of the
2008 Housing Bubble.
Inflation will destroy the buying power of the Middle & Lower Class.
A single data point here. When you throw gobs of money at a problem to make things happen, there are winners and losers. Here we have have a complete hand sanitizer bottling operation in which the equipment was new in 2020 selling under a liquidation. This sort of stuff leaves suppliers and creditors holding a very heavy bag with nothing but rocks. My business suffered two such failures in recent years leaving me with uncollected receivables of many thousands of dollars from customers that sent me an email and said “Tough luck. File your creditor claim at the following address.”
There are a lot of these. I watch these auctions as one of my businesses is buying industrial liquidation items for pennies on the dollar. Profiting on the misfortune of others is a big business. I looked into an auction in Indiana last year for a ventilator manufacturer that sold 100,000 square feet of stuff that was never used. Most of the equipment in this auction has a 7-10 year book value life, but will run for 30 years or more if maintained. Two years old and out the door. Someone took government money, massaged the life out of it and bailed.

Only 2 times in my lifetime have I ever actually felt like I was being stepped on by my government.
Obama/Biden and their first 8 years of utter insanity, and now JoeBama II – the sequel.
And we are rapidly* moving to that part of the conversation where our response to this constant haranguing will essentially be…. “…..or what?”
Like 10’s of millions, I’m sick of being threatened, fed-up watching these idiots lurch from one crisis to another using FEAR like a club on us with no more concern of what they’re doing to America than a f***ng crack dealer who sells to kids.
Economists reviewing polls is like a fingerless blind person reading Braille. (No offense meant to fingerless blind people).
The expectations were already lowered after the steal.
Looks like Buraq and China are running the US government. Sure glad I didn’t vote for either one.
Lot of unrealized culpability out there IMO.
The law of unintended consequences is the most immutable of axioms. I’ve been waiting for it to kick in when it comes to the Klaus, Bill, and George’s plans to take over the world. Just around the corner, I’m sure, will be the geopolitical manifestations. Russia goes into Ukraine? China into Taiwan? World War III anyone?
With these clowns I think it could be the law of intended consequences.
The Xiden administration, with it’s recycled Obama Maoist Communist in key position are mimicking Mao’s Great Leap Forward plan with this Green New Deal Plan and Build Back Better BS. Mao and his CCP government thought they could transform China from an agrarian society to a industrial society in five years. This was impossible and lead to massive starvation and catastrophic economic and environmental damage to the people and the country because of Mao’s lofty stupid ideas.
Now these Maoist Communist in the Democrat Party think they can ignore history and “do Communism right this time”. These people are as insane as their hero Mao was and are now causing the same type of catastrophic damage to this economy and country under the guise of Covid.
This Marxist/Maoist Green New Deal and Build Back Better is a product of the same CCP that Mao led to disaster in China. However, it is now being used as a weapon of economic war by the modern CCP to weaken and bring down the USA with media propaganda, corruption, bribes, payoffs (think Hunter Biden) and fearmongering intimidation (think Covid mandates and the insurrection narrative) to and by the sellout politicians of the Uniparty and the CEO’s of global corporations that control them.
The Great Leap Forward is alive again in the USA, being repeated under different catchy sounding names like The Green New Deal, Build Back Better and Covid Covid Covid. Let alone the Russia Russia Russia lies that we endured for four years.
You can steal an election and ignore the voters, you can’t ignore the consequences of stealing an election and ignoring the voters. This is why their plan, on the face of, it was clever but in reality, really dumb. The economic consequences of going for rapid economic transformation means it is impossible to ameliorate the consequences for your voters as everyone is affected. Neither can you use the media as a sword and shield to attack ‘Conservatives pouncing’, whilst writing articles about an amazing economic recovery, because you are increasingly fighting against the headwinds of reality caused by the mass impact of your policies.
Leftist Marxism has been metastasizing in the US and by extension Europe for decades, making the next year painful and distressing, but so is invasive surgery to remove such tumours. We were never going to be able to deal with the leftist inflitration without hardship so let’s just make sure the pain we’re going through and the sacrifices we’ve made finally lead to a routing of the marxists and their techno-feudal ‘dream’.
Taking a poll of the future generation of UK citizens, by subtlety canvassing my students, resulted in results that lead me to think the globalists and their acolytes have massively over-reached in their attempts at social engineering and censorship and will be punished.
One year of pain is optimistic. I would say seven years but that sounds sort of apocalyptic. Here in the US, this year, plus 2 years with a new Congress, plus 4 years with a new President and continuing with the different congress. One year to turn the ship by winning hearts and minds, two years to bring everything already started to a complete stop, four years to purge. Seven Years. If we can start this year, we have a chance. The key is simple, we cannot trust a new Congress or any politicians. We have to turn this ship ourselves and tell them to get on for the ride.
great graphic once again Sundance – my goodness .. . lol ..
I’m single and try to make it on one very moderate income, while trying to pay for my youngest daughter’s education still and of course a mortgage, while saving for a retirement income that was wiped out once already in 2009.
I find myself deciding not to drive somewhere far as one additional tank of gas will be 45 to 50 bucks. I know we all get it but it does get to you thinking about this all the time.
Considering I do not expect anything from the lying, repugnant, perverse, demonic, miscreants, it is really hard to lower my expectations.
Something that confuses me: There are many theories on the Dems well thought out plans to ruin our great country, and there are many evil, garbage Democrats in Congress … but they all seem so dumb to me?
Wanna know whos even dumber? The dumb ass’s that vote for them.
I live in the NY suburbs and tonight the temps are going down to around zero.
I have been out and about today and talking to clients and the main thing on everyone’s mind is the cost of heating oil, propane, gas and other fuels which have all doubled in price since our President Trump was in office.
Now we are waiting to see what the Supremes come up with- are they going to destroy the lives of millions of us Pure Bloods or do we get a brief reprieve?
I simply can’t believe we are going to last another 3 years. It is a perfect storm, planned and executed perfectly.
FJB is nowhere to be found and is really useless at this point, it is now all in the handler’s hands, who are they IDK, their moves are planed and they never move from the plan, they have no contingency plan, they plow forward and everybody is supposed to just go along to get along, they are blind to their surroundings or don’t care, stick to the plan. makes you wonder when you hear of Mass formation psychosis MSM is doing a wonderful job.
