In a rare act of journalism, NBC actually followed up on the October 13th grand proclamation of Joe Biden to speed up California ports. What they found is exactly what everyone suspected, the grand prose from the White House was a political pantomime – absolutely nothing has changed. WATCH:
As noted, and as previously outlined, the issues with the backlog of the California ports have absolutely nothing to do with rapid unloading of ships and container vessels. The issue is the inability of California truckers to move those containers. The problem is a shortage of CA emission compliant internal transportation trucks to move the containers out of the port and into the U.S. mainland.
As a result… the politically expedient goal to get rid of the optical problem (the ships) by offloading containers into a California port system, that is already overwhelmed with tens-of-thousands of containers, is only making the original issue exponentially worse. More people are now starting to understand the internal issue that has been created by recent California laws, rules and regulations.
Daniel Greenfield at Front Page Magazine has a solid outline of the emission compliance issues and the problem of independent truckers not being able to work in California:
Front Page Magazine – […] Over the summer, the California Trucking Association actually went to the Supreme Court to fight AB5 and allow owners and operators to use independent contractors. The CTA listed 70,000 owner operators. In the years since AB5, Ubers have become scarcer and more expensive, which is what the law was actually designed to do, but the consequences to the trucking industry have been far worse albeit invisible to most people until now. While truckers are still protected from AB5, many in the industry are not willing to bet their future on SCOTUS.
AB5 was not only the assault on the trucking industry by California Democrats who were aggressively trying to unionize the industry and to impose environmental regulations on it.
Last year, the California Air Resources Board issued a press release boasting that it had taken a “bold step to reduce truck pollution”. The bold step required switching to electric trucks.
“We are showing the world that we can move goods, grow our economy and finally dump dirty diesel,” Jared Blumenfeld, California’s Secretary for Environmental Protection, sneered.
[…] Last year, California’s DMV began refusing to register thousands of trucks with an estimated 100,000 trucks under threat. With “green” trucks costing $70,000 more, this was a non-starter for already troubled independent owner-operators and even larger companies.
[…] Biden called for ports to operate around the clock, but that’s not going to magically bring back thousands of trucks or truckers. California Democrats still haven’t changed their regulations and without that, there’s no incentive or even legal structure that would allow trucks to operate. (read more)
Senator Kennedy — ‘Biden needs to try harder not to suck’…
https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/senator-kennedy-biden-needs-to-try-harder-not-to-suck/
Breitbart has an article about how he’s got the lowest rating of a President since 1953.
Of course the author failed to mention who that was, and was actually 1952 and it was Harry S. Truman.
Harry Truman — The Last Middle-Class President
http://teamidkiff.com/?p=688
HST’S last days as President occurred in early January 1953. Then Ike was sworn in.
That’s why he was put in. *To* suck. So bad that all negative attention would be focused him while the political, economic, and electoral systems are transformed.
THIS
As a Cubs fan, their mantra in 2016 was “try not to suck”
I see Biden tshirts in my future with the same slogan
For your sake .. I hope you are a Cubs fan from afar. Transplanted to a sane City and State
Hahaha! “Try not to SUCK” is my warrior son’s message everyday to his men! You know, when leaders lead, and their men respected them, remember that? Love Senator Kennedy! No further words needed! Do the damn job and don’t suck!
Elections have consequences. Even the stolen ones. F J B.
Everyone who lives in a state with a bulldog GOP Senator or Congressman (Jordan, that Chip guy from Texas, etc)
Please forward this article to them so they know the true situation and can
start asking the right f#cking questions
Sorry, I no longer believe questions, asked in Congressional hearings, are anything more than Kabuki theater,…since at least Fast/Furious, and the rise of Rooster.
The Clinton impeachment did it for me. The whole traitor Clinton Administration & Democrat Campaign Finance Committee all should have been rounded up, imprisoned, and many to face capital punishment to lesser criminal charges.
Googling why 16 candidates led me to CRH and getting schooled on splitter strategy. It was the only explanation that made sense. Been a fan ever since.
Once you see the strings…
I learned that strategy when that was used against Pat Buchanan and his “Make America First Again” campaigns in 92 & 96. Ross Perot and the Reform POparty was created to split the Buchanan Populist movement which was drawing in loads of people, rightfully worried about their jobs being shipped to Mexico and eventually China with the WTO. (and also the Immigration invasion & Cultural War)
Cheers friend
When the War breaks out, will China ship us the materials to fight them. Yes they will , because the war will be over before we can un plug the log jam in the west coast ports. Chicoms have all the marbles.
damned thing is splitter strategy always works – stupid effin voters
To this day I never understood why the House Republicans worked so hard at proving what that swine did, only to have the Senate Republicans completely ignore it.
David Schippers was a life long Democrat chosen by Hyde as the Chief Investigative Counsel for the House impeachment. He wrote a book about the impeachment after, likely because of his disgust, and named a few names of Senate Republicans that whined publicly about the impeachment.
I will never forget some of the things Schippers described in his book, particularly the evidence against the rapist.
At least one of those RINO’s is still in the Senate today.
Rooster is just another RINO avatar.
So true, and clearly seen with the COVID nonsense. Thousands of elderly killed in nursing homes. Congress yawns. Young kids being abused in schools being forced to wear masks, if they are even allowed in school, or have not committed suicide. Congress ignores it. Small businesses ruined when local politicians choose who the winners are. Congress looks the other way. People being forced to take an EUA shot or lose their job or be kicked off a transplant list. Congress is silent. Fauci, Collins, whatsherface at CDC and others flip flop daily, act on behalf of PigPharma, push their nutty science and now want to give kids their poison. Congress twiddles and fiddles.
Fauci and Collins are shown to have blatantly lied about their G-of-F research in Wuhan, and I believe only Rand Paul has mentioned it.
The most outrage I have seen on COVID in the past 2 years from more than a couple members of Congress is from Fauci funding horrendous experimentation on beagles.

Especially stolen ones, Donald Trump would be on the dock with a blow-horn giving directions.
At the very least he would be shaming Screwsome to EO the laws that are strangling the traffic.
The propaganda media mill runs cover for Screwsome and Slojo and the sheeple just go baa baa.
They are all so blind and dumb.
Californians just confirmed that they like their Newsom. These ships can sink waiting to unload their made cheap in China trash. Let Calis pay air freight for their trinkets.
I hope the unloading delay gives our more ingenious citizens here in the U. S. time to do a start up manufacturing and building some of the parts, and other things being held hostage on ships by CA Gov. and demoncrats! Like Sundance says, AMERICANS CAN DO IT EVEN WHEN NOBODY ELSE CAN! (Wish I could find that thread)
And
I love what DeSantis is doing! More power to him!
I got one of these coming
https://store.turleytalks.com/collections/laugh-cry/products/i-no-longer-most-crazy-president-unisex-t-shirt
The California Air Resources Board needs to be stripped of its power. The disruptions they cause to the entire nation with their dictates skews markets all over the country. Not just the ports – gasoline formulations, electric vehicle requirements, emissions controls.
Shut them down, make California 50 state compliant. No more special little fiefdom for them.
https://babylonbee.com/news/new-computer-models-showing-california-under-water-causes-huge-spike-in-support-for-climate-change
Exactly. I hate opening anything new with that stupid it may cause cancer warning.
Actually, I laugh.
“Look! It says HERE, This product is known to cause Cancer,…IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA!
Good thing we’re not IN Cal, so we can go ahead and ENJOY!”
Them poor Californians, seems like near EVERYTHING gives em the Cancer,…I bet its too much sun that does it,..buy hey I’m just a hayseed.
LOL exactly what I say! And, if you’re a man, only smoke the cigarettes that have the warnings about pregnancy on them. Those can’t hurt you.
“Everything is known to cause cancer in California.”
The label itself is needs its own label.
How about the toxic products that kill/harm pets and children/people made from the Democrats favorite campaign contributors and ideological twins totalitarian communist-Democrat China?
They are restricting inter state commerce. Unconstitutional rules.
Exactly. Recall that argument that a window washer who lives and works in New York City and never leaves is engaged in interstate commerce because he deals with views to New Jersey. California’s deranged rules and regulations do far more real damage, to far more people, than a smudged window in NYC.
It’s INTERSTATE COMMERCE for god’s sake! CONGRESS HAS THE POWER–and the responsibility–to regulate interstate Commerce…….CALIFORNIA CAN SIMPLY BE TOLD TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP re what kinds of trucks can participate in our nationa enterprise.
The very argument used years ago to allow Mexican trucks into the USA (NAFTA)
I’m loathe to stomp on the 10th Amendment.
That said, the federal government COULD federalize the ports to become federal property as well as the federally funded Interstate Highways that run between those ports and adjacent states. For the ports and the federal roads, the feds could mandate that no state laws can be more restrictive than those of any adjacent state.
Eliminate CA’s ability to singlehandedly affect the nations commerce.
Or, invest bigly in port expansion in the Gulf states. But isn’t the Panama Canal being run by the CCP?.
“[T]he federal government COULD federalize the ports.”
Don’t cut your throat to cure a nosebleed!
The proper response to socialism is not more socialism.
I’m only referring to CA ports, because of the state’s asinine extreme green regulations which are negatively impacting 47 other states. It’s far from an ideal solution and would have to be far more transparently executed and overseen by the feds than anything else they’ve done.
Mine is simply an option to try to resolve a problem caused by a stubborn, ignorant and corrupt state government. It’s far from ideal.
But rerouting 75% of current CA maritime traffic through Panama to U.S. Gulf ports or through Suez to u.s. eastern ports has its own vulnerabilities which are not insignificant.
Pres.Trump had the correct solution (bring mfg back to the USA) but the corporate multinational oligarchs have no interest in cooperating.
SOME OF THESE PEOPLE HERE WHO COMMENT AS WELL AS SUNDANCE COULD DO A BETTER JOB OF RUNNING THIS COUNTRY!
And yes, I was yelling.
At the very least they appear to be able to think critically and use rational logic. Not being brainwashed or corrupt has its advantages.
Meanwhile … Gavin Newsom has used the massive Federal COVID bailout $$$ to hire even MORE “green bureaucrats” into State Bureaus of green malaise.
Bureaucrats whose sole purpose is to take things away from Californians. Use less. Conserve. Alter your “greedy” Western lifestyle and SUFFER for the planet … like all the 3rd worlders. Get off your high horses and join the 3rd world. Gaia demands it … or we will sacrifice you to the COVID gods.
That’s what it’s like living in CA
Jeffrey,
It’s not just CARB, the rules regarding shipping containers are another BIG bottleneck in the supply chain!
It’s too bad there isn’t anyone in the Bai Den Regime with the intelligence to realize that the trucking companies need a place to dump the empty containers; like maybe one of the large, mostly empty military bases that are scattered all over SoCal!
On the plus side, I’ll bet you’re going to see a big drop in the price of empty containers for private use. I’m willing to put three of them on my property, and I’ll only charge $1,000 each! That’d make a great workshop and storage area!
CARB can make whatever rules it wants. I could care less if the people of California get another container of made-cheap-in-China trash and it doesn’t matter what it costs. If the shippers want access to US markets, they need to send the ships to other ports to reach the other 47 states.
US Code; Title 15, Chapter 1:
“Every contract, combination in the form of trust or otherwise, or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, is declared to be illegal.”
There ought to be enough material here to bring a lawsuit against CARB. The question is, as always, who will bell the cat?
I wish they could devise a way to save US from THEM….
Well, we shouldn’t actually raise any expectations of Democrats doing anything other than making problems and making them worse while blaming others.
Isn’t that what they are saying. ‘Lower our expectations.’
If mine go any lower, we’ll be in iron shackles being whipped to do whatever our Democrat Masters want.
Lower my expectations? I can’t lower them any more than they already are. Even the lowly tick has higher expectations than I have of this government.
In truth if this illegitimate and criminal/treasonous was closed due to lack of congressional funding it would be better for America. No Government would be better
You could be eating grubs.
That’s a feature not a bug.
So semi-trucks in California have to run on electricity instead of diesel fuel. Even if they could get their trucks fitted for electricity, where would they be able to recharge their batteries as they drive cross country? Or will they just have to drive them to AZ and offload their trailer and cargo to a diesel-powered truck? Where is there any sense in that? Oh, never mind, we all know the answer.
Sounds similar to the Democrats ideological brethren in the Soviet Union when that Liberal insane asylum was running a schlock science called Lysenkosim, which resulted in millions of middle class Christians to be purposely starved in the Ukraine in a Holocaust you never hear about because it was done by the Soviet democrat Bolsheviks who the US Soviet democrat Bolsheviks adore
The CA trucks just have to drive to the CA border and drop the trailer which has been going on for a couple of years already. The notion of heavy trucks running on electric only is unworkable at this time bur then Californians just confirmed they like their Newsom. Once the cost of handline freight through CA gets high enough, the shippers will pay the extra to go to other ports.
Thank you, Admin, for approving my comment! I know y’all are having some weird issues. Thanks for fixing it so quickly!
Why is my comment (above) awaiting approval?
It’s not EPA compliant.
LOL!
mspsgt, That is an internet winning comment right there. Very well done.
No telling, but the algorithm sometimes seems a little buggy.
Re “Why is my comment (above) awaiting approval?”
I understand it’s been happening to several people for some as yet unknown reason. I’ve had a few get ‘stuck in the bin’ myself during the last few days. I’ve seen comments from the Admin saying even they’re not sure why; but, they’re checking regularly to see if any are getting held up and seem to be doing a good job sending them on their way as quickly as possible.
In other words, at least in many cases, the poster did nothing to cause it.
I think something else is tampering with the on line status here. A few times lately I’ve had trouble getting in. Thank Goodness Sundance found a better platform to use after Word Press did us dirty. The new platform might have trouble occasionally but they get it fixed QUICK.
Low social credit score /s
All it takes is the tyrant in charge of California to write an EO suspending the CARB regulations and AB-5.
It’s so easy, a caveman could do it. But since this involves conmunist demoncrats and losing face if they do, it won’t happen.
And yet our illegitimate governor got the feds to suspend EPA regulations so we could burn more coal, which we need because he shutdown almost all of our nuclear plants. Solar for the most part isn’t tied to the consumer grid. Wind power, lol, you’d think with all the windmills we have would power the world, but no. They’re basically just good for killing birds. This is all planned. They know what they’re doing. Notice you don’t hear ANYONE from either side of the aisle clamoring for California to loosen the noose around the trucking industry. That tells you all you need to know about the desire to fix this problem.
Wind generates a significant amount of power in America. They do kill birds and they also get out of balance from bugs sticking to the blades. Icing is an issue as we saw in Texas this past winter. What would make most folks angry is just exactly how much the industry is subsidized by the taxpayers. I began my career in power generation at a 1,330 Megawatt coal fired generating station in 1975. I’m not convinced that there is any issue with GHG emissions that gets the so called scientific community to get their panties in a wad.
Solar and wind is energy is nothing more than investment vehicles for depreciation to be sold and cycle repeated.
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/10/the_real_cost_of_government_mandated_wind_and_solar.html
The issue with wind in Texas was only ancillary to icing. You can look at the daily wind integration reports for Texas at http://www.Ercot.com the grid information wind and solar reports. Texas has about 33,000MW installed of wind generating capacity, which is about 28% of of the total capacity. On summer afternoons, it is a frequent occurrence that wind generates less than 1,000 MW average per hour. When demand hits more than 70K MW wind most of the time generates around 2 or 3% of its capacity. If you go back and look at the reports for February 14 and 15 when the problem was at its peak, wind generated about 800M out of a potential of 29K MW. That failure was the predominate cause for the problems we encountered. When 28% of your potential generating capacity is producing less than 1% of its supposed capacity, it places a huge burden on the remaining sources. Unfortunately, they couldn’t handle all the added load and power demand had to be shed. If the goal from some of our idiot liberals of having 50% of our power generated by renewables/unreliable, you can imagine how much worse it would have been. The world is about to see that this year.
Our contract expires Dec 1 so I’m shopping plans right now and the best rate I can find is $50/month higher. I actively search out plans with the least amount of solar…between the lack of reliability, lifespan, inability to recycle so just bury them, and use of hydrocarbon fluids the “green” moniker is just too much hypocrisy for me.
They are trying to burn up the east coast with solar panels. They are everywhere. And they only have a lifespan of 25 years, the number of years it take to recoup the cost. Stupid stupid stupid.
The issue was again epa regulations that made it prohibitively expensive for Texas to ramp up coal fired power plants, so they just didn’t. There was plenty of reserve capacity in coal and gas plants.
Their IS NO AISLE.
Clause was-his-name, said in War, there is a “Center of gravity”; take it out, and your enemy is defeated.
The Center of Gravity IS the Republicon Party.
Without the GOPe, the Dems NEVER could have taken us this far. They are the Dems enablers.
TAKE THEM OUT, and the Dems have no leg to stand on.
The commies running Killifornia want to destroy this Country.
They lose a lot of those containers. Every year they fall in the oceans.
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/coast-guard-monitoring-40-adrift-shipping-containers-near-strait-of-juan-de-fuca/
Thats been happening for years. Mostly too far out for salvagers to get to, and the wind and currents can take them anywhere.
This I did not know. Thanks Mopar
Re “They lose a lot of those containers. Every year they fall in the oceans.”
Finders keepers, losers weepers?
Not sure of all the laws. But salvage is a big industry in ocean shipping.
If one had an organized approach, it could prove lucrative if done right.
Where are you going to take the recovered cans—to Long Beach?!
I agree.
Don’t forget about the crumbling infrastructure. Potholes are causing chassis failures and don’t have enough mechanics.
https://www.worldcargopacific.com/2021/01/05/severe-chassis-and-labor-shortages-plague-la-long-beach-port/
Good I hope the normies have the sads at Christmas. The hell the Biden voters and the apathetic people of all political persuasions have put us in and the worse that is yet to come was completely avoidable.
As usual, your idea and I pay. Wrong, people! Wrong time! Maybe they can eat fresh air.
Move the port’s to Texas?
Mexico Pacific coast. Rail or truck to AZ, TX, NM.
Dealing with drug cartels for shipping can’t be worse than dealing with California democrats.
lol.
Wouldn’t Canada be a more realistic candidate for this task?
Their rail system already connects Saskatchewan to CONUS for the delivery of cereal grains to Chicago.
You just explained how Buffet will make even more $ from this.
Doesn’t China own Canada’s ports or is that airports?
All “MAGA Inc”( if there is such a thing) has to do is to announce the building of a port 200 miles to the south of LA in Mexico. The Deep State will fix the issue within a week.
Agree with dd_sc about the cartels.
Have to go thru the Panama canal, to get from China to the gulf coast; Sundance has outlined this, already.
WHO’S great idea was it, to SELL the Panama Canal? Dem Dems, wit Republicon help.
WHO’S idea was it, to export our manufacturing to CHINA? Dem damn Dems, with Republicon enabling.
UNIPARTY sucks, Joe is just an avatar FOR the Uniparty.
IIRC, Jimmah Cahtah GAVE the canal to Panama in a fit of wokeism.
“Canal Zone Brat” is, amongst my other titles. A proud Canal Zone Brat.
I think Kissinger had his paws in that one, the big give-away, too. Its been so long, I don’t remember.
Can we say “Nation Building of the 1970’s”?
It was a mix of foreign policy give away, in an attempt to bring a third world dictatorship, that often benefited from US $$$, into the new brave business world. Or that was the selling point. Plus expiration dates on policy and treaties.
That said, there was a Congressional slip up during treaty negotiations where the treaty wording also said “American citizens would not pay income taxes.” Initially agreed to by the fearless leaders in the the Swamp.
What they “meant”, was the US citizen employed in the CZ, would not pay income taxes to Panama….
For a while, no one paid ANY income taxes…to the US…or any other entity.
There was a big kurfluffle since the wording of the treaty/’contract’ meant….but clearly did not ‘state’ the original intent. Back then, clear statements were a whole lot different and “intent” did not play into it.
Yes, they fixed that one in a big hurry after people were filling for and getting all of their US income taxes refunded. Eventually, it got “fixed” and the IRS reclaimed the tax dollars from the Americans. With interest.
I have good memories of my times there, swimming in the canal, eating mangoes and avocados (the size of grapefruits), off the ground–and they tasted better than any crap you can buy today, my excellent government education (it was due to great teachers, back then).
Oh, and the coffee from the family fincas…also fallen waste to GMO and coporatist farms…does not taste the same…
Those were the days my friends, we thought they’d never end…
Oh, and the dcatators sent their relatives to the American schools…went to school with a few nieces and nephews of Noriega and Torrijos…along with others from their ruling class.
For GODS sakes. It’s not the UniParty. UP is an Avatar / sales force doing bidding of Corporate America.
Main Street verses Wall Street is really vs. Corporate America. Wall Street is the vehicle for funding them. Congress sells the package.
Think about it. Why does Corporate America support the mandate? Why does state government support the mandate? Answer promised federal dollars. Why is 80% of products in big box stores made in foreign countries. Answer to circumvent environmental and labor hourly wage.
One reason the comment that the likes of Trump should never rise again is Commerce. When Trump refused the CoC in NAFTA negotiations that set the full weight of the fourth branch not motion.
It’s not Wall Street our battle is with. It’s corporations we should focus on. Covid firings push back is a first step.
Exporting our manufacturing to China was led by non other then President BJ Clinton. First, he brought the Chinese in to the WTO. Then he renewed GATT and the rush to exit the US was on. After that, President George W “Sonny” Bush saw how happy his big business supporters were to get rid of high priced American workers and decided to leave well enough alone. Obama had no clue and continued the exodus. It was Trump that revealed the wrecking ball.
Ron DeSantis volunteered Florida.
Since so many Cali residents have relocated, why not
Shippers don’t want to pay the extra cost of ship miles and Panama Canal fees.
Better than letting stuff rot at sea.
Back in the day, I remember my dad talking about the cost of a transit, it cost about 0.25 per ton, if I am not mistaken, (for a ship to transit). I forget how that was calculated but it was then, supposedly, a very good deal even with the cost of operating 2-3 tug boats, the canal pilot, locks usage etc…
Given the new locks system, and Panamax ships…am wondering if they are now obsolete?
Kings Point students should do a comparative cost analysis since it seems most ships come from China to LA. Or as the media would have one believe.
If AB-5 affects Interstate Commerce, then isn’t that State Law abrogating the US Congress’ authority under the Constitution with respect to the Commerce Clause?
“The “Dormant Commerce Clause” refers to the prohibition, implicit in the Commerce Clause, against states passing legislation that discriminates against or excessively burdens interstate commerce.”
“In West Lynn Creamery Inc. v. Healy, 512 U.S. 186 (1994), the Supreme Court struck down a Massachusetts state tax on milk
products, as the tax impeded interstate commercial activity by discriminating against non-Massachusetts products.”
So isn’t the AB-5 impeding interstate commerce? ( I’m just asking. Not a lawyer )
One would think that’s the case, right? Why aren’t other states filing lawsuits? This problem is known to everyone yet the silence on the matter is deafening.
Demonrats don’t care about any Laws.
Is that the same Commerce clause, that was used to make schools shooting galleries for crazies, er “Gun free” (except for the crazies) zones?
Yeah, NEVER be able to apply it to free up this shipping container mess, too busy twisting it into a pretzel, to justify insanity and stupidity.
Many judges don’t care about the law, either.
For the sake of argument, Cowboy, let’s say you’re right and Congress does, indeed, have the authority to sue California for non-compliance with the Commerce Clause. Wait… did I just say “Congress???” Excuse me while I go cry in a corner somewhere.
The corner is reserved for reload work.
No it is not. The truckers could buy electric vehicles and ship to NV or AZ warehouses. Cost is not an impediment.
Tell me where these mythical 10,000 electric trucks are, along with their charging stations
20,000 trucks they would have to shift run the trucks to recharge them 12 on 12 off
Do you have $300,000 for a new electric truck? Do you have 13 hours and several 220 chargers available every day to charge truck batteries. What do you do with your old diesel truck when nobody in California will buy it???
I’m not sure it has anything to do with electric trucks.
AB-5 affects interstate commerce. CA could enforce AB-5 for containers with final destination in CA. But if the containers are destined beyond the borders of CA in another State, then AB-5 is interfering with Interstate Commerce. The SC struck down the MA tax on milk products because it interfered with interstate commerce, a few pennies per item. You’re saying that holding containers hostage for a $300,000 truck is “not an impediment”? That doesn’t make sense. I’m trying to understand, but this just doesn’t make sense to me.
Actually, CA is not interfering with interstate commerce. CA is not charging a tax on interstate freight movement. It merely is saying that if you drive a truck in CA it must meet certain criteria. Just because something costs more in a particular state does not mean the state is violating the commerce clause. When the cost gets high enough, the shippers will unload outside of CA. But people in CA are already paying higher prices than the rest of country which they seem happy to do.
Archie… how does buying a new EV truck that’s gonna run upwards of $250K with trailer not amount to a cost impediment? I mean, even if there were enough of these trucks, who’s going to buy all the old school diesels that the average indy drivers are still making payments on, hmmm?
The truckers could just as readily buy nuclear powered helicopters and fly the freight directly to the point-of-purchase. Cost is not an impediment. ?
How do you charge an electric Truck Tractor when California blackouts have caused them to ask people not to charge vehicles during peak demand periods. Sheesh. Cost is an impediment when you have a perfectly good TT that can effectively and efficiently move good sitting in your parking lot.
Thats how I read the commerce clause, unfortunately the feds have read it to mean that they get to tax the crap out of us get rich. It empowers them to and dictate regulations on everything that ever crossed a state line at any time or might some time in the future.
Lester Holt just can’t come to grips on the problem, not on Nightly News … if he were to really try to cover it, it would take way too much time for an evening newscast. Plus, it would be one of those politically explosive stories that would have some serious blow-back. So the result is a hashing out of the problem without any real examination of the why of the problem.
NBC =

Yes, what ended up on the cutting room floor?
There are so many states that can and will accept freight at their ports….give it a while…… and let them go the same way as so many democratic cities….. then they will learn…..but for many that will mean going to the wall while the politicians survive.
“…many in the industry are not willing to bet their future on SCOTUS.”
That just might be THE understatement of the year. Not one of us would take that bet either. SCOTUS is now a defanged and impotent, shriveled anachronism.
I used to think honour and a healthy respect for their oaths to protect and defend the United States Constitution meant something to the justices (small j) who swore on the Holy Bible when they took it. I have now been completely disabused of that fairy tale.
Maybe someday they’ll put a protestant on the high court.
Please, no GHW Bush Episcopalians or Hillary Clinton Methodists. They have caused enough trouble already.
I grew up in a lovely Episcopal Church. Somewhere along the line it lost its way. Any number of strayings from the liturgies and teachings of God. I’ll not judge anyone’s beliefs. But that the Bushes feel at home there with the path it has followed doesn’t surprise me.
Maybe someday they will put someone who loves this country on the court.
I think Justice (with a capital J) Thomas fills that bill. Perhaps Alito, who at least seems to love the Constitution. The rest seem to be in love with their ability to twist straightforward language into tight unbreakable knots. Deadly for rulings and our country.
Its too bad there aren’t any other left coast states smart enough to take advantage, eg ports of Portland, Coos Bay, Astoria in Oregon or Vancouver and Puget Sound in Washington.
In fact those moronic state governments will probably follow suit. And they’ll waste more money on unreliables onto the power grid.
Is it intentional, that’s the last remaining question.
Yes it is, the mask fiasco was step one, serious shortages and inflation is step two> Now O’Butthole is well on the way to implementing socialism.
I am not convinced, Robert.
THEY are supposedly following some elaborate plan, a new Fascism, where government does the bidding of the Multinational Corps, to maximise their profits,…
GUESS who’s crap, is sitting in those containers, NOT being sold? The multinational corporations, THATS WHO!
The Vax is mainly “killing off” the chronically ill; Diabetics, COPD, CHF etc.
These are the 10 percent, that 90 percent of Rx drugs are dispenced to: they are “killing off” the Golden goose, for both Big Pharma, AND Big (Corporate) Medicine.
The behavior seems to me more like INSANITY (which often includes self-destructive behavior) a failure to correct such behavior, and even to defend, violently against any questioning OF the behavior.
I really think there is NO ONE “Behind the Curtain”.
We are in Salem Witch trials”, French Revolution (Off with their heads!) territory.
Or, fiddling and diddling, while Rome burns.
Marxism
Yes, they wish to dominate the West Coast: California, Oregon, Washington. They wish to destroy the economy and control shipping ports.
As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me that people think electric cars/trucks are independent of grid power.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1451543776992845834.html
Yesterday I rented a boat and took the leader of one of Flexport’s partners in Long Beach on a 3 hour of the port complex. Here’s a thread about what I learned.
First off, the boat captain said we were the first company to ever rent his boat to tour the port to see how everything was working up close. His usual business is doing memorial services at sea. He said we were a lot more fun than his regular customers.
The ports of LA/Long Beach are at a standstill. In a full 3 hour loop through the port complex, passing every single terminal, we saw less than a dozen containers get unloaded.
There are hundreds of cranes. I counted only ~7 that were even operating and those that were seemed to be going pretty slow.
It seems that everyone now agrees that the bottleneck is yard space at the container terminals. The terminals are simply overflowing with containers, which means they no longer have space to take in new containers either from ships or land. It’s a true traffic jam.
Right now if you have a chassis with no empty container on it, you can go pick up containers at any port terminal. However, if you have an empty container on that chassis, they’re not allowing you to return it except on highly restricted basis.
If you can’t get the empty off the chassis, you don’t have a chassis to go pick up the next container. And if nobody goes to pick up the next container, the port remains jammed.
WIth the yards so full, carriers / terminals are being highly restrictive in where and when they will accept empties.
Also containers are not fungible between carriers, so the truckers have to drop their empty off at the right terminal. This is causing empty containers to pile up. This one trucking partner alone has 450 containers sitting on chassis right now (as of 10/21) at his yards.
This is a trucking company with 6 yards that represents 153 owner operator drivers, so he has almost 3 containers sitting on chassis at his yard for every driver on the team.
He can’t take the containers off the chassis because he’s not allowed by the city of Long Beach zoning code to store empty containers more than 2 high in his truck yard. If he violates this code they’ll shut down his yard altogether.
With the chassis all tied up storing empties that can’t be returned to the port, there are no chassis available to pick up containers at the port.
And with all the containers piling up in the terminal yard, the longshoremen can’t unload the ships. And so the queue grows longer, with now over 70 ships containing 500,000 containers are waiting off shore. This line is going to get longer not shorter.
This is a negative feedback loop that is rapidly cycling out of control that if it continues unabated will destroy the global economy.
Alright how do we fix this, you ask? Simple. And we can do it fast now,
When you’re designing an operation you must choose your bottleneck. If the bottleneck appears somewhere that you didn’t choose it, you aren’t running an operation. It’s running you.
You should always choose the most capital intensive part of the line to be your bottleneck. In a port that’s the ship to shore cranes. The cranes should never be unable to run because they’re waiting for another part of the operation to catch up.
The bottleneck right now is not the cranes. It’s yard space at the container terminals. And it’s empty chassis to come clear those containers out.
In operations when a bottleneck appears somewhere that you didn’t design for it to appear, you must OVERWHELM THE BOTTLENECK!
Here’s a simple plan that @POTUS and @GavinNewsom partnered with the private sector, labor, truckers, and everyone else in the chain must implement TODAY to overwhelm the bottleneck and create yard space at the ports so we can operate against
1) Executive order effective immediately over riding the zoning rules in Long Beach and Los Angeles to allow truck yards to store empty containers up to six high instead of the current limit of 2. Make it temporary for ~120 days.
This will free up tens of thousands of chassis that right now are just storing containers on wheels. Those chassis can immediately be taken to the ports to haul away the containers
2) Bring every container chassis owned by the national guard and the military anywhere in the US to the ports and loan them to the terminals for 180 days.
3) Create a new temporary container yard at a large (need 500+ acres) piece of government land adjacent to an inland rail head within 100 miles of the port complex.
4) Force the railroads to haul all containers to this new site, turn around and come back. No more 1500 mile train journeys to Dallas. We’re doing 100 mile shuttles, turning around and doing it again. Truckers will go to this site to get containers instead of the port.
5) Bring in barges and small container ships and start hauling containers out of long beach to other smaller ports that aren’t backed up.
This is not a comprehensive list. Please add to it. We don’t need to do the best ideas. We need to do ALL the ideas.
We must OVERWHELM THE BOTTLENECK and get these ports working again. I can’t stress enough how bad it is for the world economy if the ports don’t work. Every company selling physical goods bought or sold internationally will fail.
The circulatory system our globalized economy depends has collapsed. And thanks to the negative feedback loops involved, it’s getting worse not better every day that goes by.
I’d be happy to lead this effort for the federal or state government if asked. Leadership is the missing ingredient at this point.
.
The circulatory system has been injected with a virus that wants to kill us all . . .
They don’t want a solution. They want us to suffer.
CA legislators takes away job then shites in your yard and tells you to clean it up.
“Force the railroads to haul all containers to this new site,..”
Absent a clear and present danger to life, liberty or property, the civil authorities have no justification to exercise their police powers.
Are you suggesting that we resolve an economic crisis through command and control? This would take us farther down the road to the police state our political “servants” are vociferously demanding.
No force greater than the economic one. Rail companies will happily transport containers to wherever you want them. All you gotta do is pay for it. Ultimately we, the consumer, will pay dearly for the added costs associated with this “crisis”. I use quotation marks as it’s debatable how much of what is going on is intentional.
Set up staging areas near Bakersfield and Victorville. Stage the empties there, Bakersfield for Northbound, and Victorville for Eastbound. Dump em and stack em. Deal with it when empties have value. Clear the ports out and clear the truck chassis.
Anything going rail, goes through the Alameda rail corridor. Even if it is a temporary stop, establish a full/empty staging area to clear the ports.
There’s a way to do this, if people want to do it.
I like your idea Cowboy. I would suggest to tailor it by having the staging areas in open areas on this side of the mountain ranges. Tejon and Cajon Passes get a little icy in the winter and the CHP close them down.
kleen,
like 1000 buerocrats and lawyers at the bottom of the Ocean, your plan is “a good start”.
My problem is with your GOAL; as I am not a Globalist, but an Economic Nationalist, I DON’T WANT the “Global supply chain” to work.
I DON’T WANT all that CRAP from CCP-China, flooding into our country.
I want those Multinational Corporations that got in bed with Xi, to suffer for their perfidy,…AND Xi, as well.
Same thing for Brandon, applies to them. THEY perverted the elections in California, and got what they deserve, and likewise the National elections.
Now, let them experience the consequences of their actions, and all those shipping containers can get dumped in the ocean, for all I care.
Or hey, take em down on the southern border, stack them 20 high, and 5 deep, and end to end, no gaps.
kleen ~ This is so impressive! It could work, IF the Biden Regime would cooperate. However, I see this problem as yet another prong in a Cloward-Piven strategy, like the border crisis, meant to overwhelm the system. Alarm bells have been ringing for months about the potential supply chain problem and nothing has been done to avoid it, so isn’t this just another part of The Plan?
Biden’s we’re paid 1.5 billion. Our liberty sold to the highest bidder
Chicagoland reporting…4 years ago, on the West side of I-55 near Pulaski, is a train depot of sorts…4-8 years ago, the trains were lined up on all the different train tracks, with freight trains hauling containers. There were no empty train tracks.
On the North East side of I-55 at the Pulask exit, was a truck/container terminal…4-8 years ago, it was full, they were stacked two high then.
Back in March (my timeline might be off a bit so bear with me), or so of 2020, the train tracks were empty–or maybe had one or two freight trains on the tracks. The big ‘parking lot’ for containers, was also empty.
At $3.69 a gallon for regular, am not interested in a random drive to check it out.
80% of the short haul truckers are paid by the load, not by the hour. If they are stuck in long lines they are moving fewer loads. Will they give up at some point?
These people think, no one will find out what they have done.
Hey….this one posted all by itself! 😀
I hope! Thanks for checking.
This is all part of the master plan and tied into the agenda. Don’t expect any relief after the ships have been off loaded. They will just stack up the containers and like the golf ball scenario no improvement. Hopefully these shipping companies will avoid sending US goods to these ports in liberal blue state ports that are in lock step with destroying our economy. Texas, Louisiana and Florida come to mind. JoeBamas failures advance the cause. The media is gas lighting themselves because nobody is watching or reading their propaganda anymore.
.
Is this a FIFO system?
Is it a system of pay to play?
Is it possible that a certain state signed a huge contract with a foreign country for supplies related to the ‘pandemic’ when the ‘news’ was sure it was going to get worse and more prevalent. But, when that did not happen, and the state wanted to revise the terms of the contract, that foreign country insisted on the terms being met.
Could this whole fiasco be related to Gavin’s idiocy with coved treatment supplies and the Chinese backing up the ships with even more containers of recurring orders that they will not allow a reneging by CA . . .?
RAPE, PILLAGE, PLUNDER; AMERICA YOU’VE BEEN HAD!
NOTE: First my thanks to Little Joe. Little Joe, special thanks to you for reinforcing my lessons learned throughout your time in politics. Oh, do you remember the time we listed you, Billy Carter, and a whole gaggle of politicians as subjects in that international drug trade investigation? Hint, it was during your first term in the Senate. Why don’t you impress the folks by explaining the term, ‘Green Lining?’
Soldier/Cop/Mercenary, Retired
This article provides just another example of what’s happening in America that reinforces the confession/lessons learned first presented in 1989 (most presented in 1989, rest added during President Obama’s last two years in office) to the citizens of this old soldier/cop/mercenary’s community while serving as their police chief.
Soldier/Cop/Mercenary, Retired
A Soldier/Cop/Mercenary’s Confession/Lessons Learned
1. Soldiers (ground combat soldiers, that is) do not fight first and foremost for their country, the flag, motherhood, girls back home, nor apple pie! Before all else, soldiers engaged in ground combat fight for their fellow soldiers and their unit. Why? Because in every war/police action/whatever including WWII the strategies and tactics adopted by mostly incompetent/corrupt military and civilian managers (notice I said managers not leaders) were/are designed to maximize the profits of the military/industrial/political complex with little regard for the those personnel charged with employing the same. In short, the American soldier has been/is nothing more than a “mercenary” since 1969 with the creation of the “All Volunteer Army (VOLAR)”.
2. The Seven C’s of Leadership according to a survey of 1646 Vietnam era ground combat veterans listed of the order of their importance (according to the vets) are; Candor, Competence, Consistency, Commitment, Courage, Compassion, and Courtesy. The reason the soldiers in the survey chose the word “candor” is because to them candor encompasses both omission and co-mission. To a combat soldier lack of absolute candor, be it co-mission or omission, are equal sins! In short, soldiers expect/demand absolute candor from their leaders before all else. Note: The democrats have proven they are masters of co-mission, while republicans have proven they are masters of omission!
3. The American people are the most effectively lied to people in modern times thanks primarily to politicians, bureaucrats, academicians, and the media.
4. Arrogance plus ignorance equals stupidity (A + I = S).
5. The greatest threats to the American people are the corrupt and/or incompetent politicians/bureaucrats/academicians found at every level of government/academia, and the majority of the American so-called media.
6. The American Profession of Arms and our brothers/sisters in the Blue have failed to protect the American people from all of their enemies, both foreign and ‘most especially’ domestic.
7. There are only two primary requirements to be a career soldier and/or cop in America. One must be smart enough to do the work and dumb enough to take the job.
8. American soldiers and police officers must in addition to mastering all of their professionally mandated tasks learn to accomplish the same with at least one arm tied behind their backs and their vision impaired 50% or more.
9. Most of the politicians, bureaucrats, academicians, and media types I have encountered during my years as a soldier/cop/mercenary I most kindly refer to as; self-serving, witless, cowards. Note: I originally referred to the aforementioned folks as; “Self-serving, witless, cowardly, pissants!” After retiring to the deep woods I dropped pissants once becoming acquainted with the little guys; in that I learned pissants are not self-serving nor witless, and certainly not cowards!
10. After carefully watching the whole of the political class since May of 1960, I can say without reservation that most of the group will sell their souls and our bodies just to remain in power.
11. Want to see what the United States of America will look like if the left takes control of the government? Take your pick: New York City, Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or the complete packages; California, New York, Illinois, etc, etc, etc…..
12. If the so-called Progressive movement continues unchecked a number of able veterans are going to be presented with a challenge/decision. Are the American people worth another drop of our sweat and/or our blood?
13. The end goal of the elites and their minions is not (nor ever has been) socialism, communism, or capitalism. The elites of world have used all manner of ideologies, religions, terrorism, brute force, etc. to drive the masses/peasants/serfs/whatever in one direction. That direction leads to one of the oldest forms of human control ever employed in the history of mankind. That form of human control is, Feudalism!

California is INTENTIONALLY violating the Interstate Commerce Act . Regardless of California’s reason, its unique geographic location and subsequent importance to the distribution of goods to other 47 states (Alaska and Hawaii are not effected) is a blatant violation of long-standing statues regarding states interfering in the commerce of other states.
I would think ingenious and enterprising individual state AG’s are preparing lawsuits.
I agree. If we had real President this would be the first legitimate use by the Federal government of that Constitutional power in long time.
Time for the States to start building and making their own stuff at home so it becomes a moot point. Any Governor or Legislature that doesn’t do this needs to be purged and replaced with people who WILL do this.
Shipping containers are designed for multimodal transportation. Why are they not shipping the backlog of containers out on rail? Have the Californicators outlawed choo choo trains?
Elmer Fudd: The freight train lines headed east are jam packed. I have seen them myself.
Railway stocks are great investments.
That metaphor deserves an award. As I was reading that I was imaging wow that’s exactly what’s happening. This is all the doing of that hot garbage green agenda. It’s making things worse.
Here’s what a tour of the Long Beach shipping problem reveals…..
There are some fairly specific problems outlined in the thread.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1451543776992845834.html
thanks, CZ, that’s a good read
Their intention from looking at the emissions manual for the trucks is to charge the truckers on going maintenance cost. This means millions of added dollars for trucking companies.
It’s okay. As soon as Pete figures out how to breastfeed, he’ll fix this.
He’s definitely a late bloomer. I learned how to breast feed when I was an infant.
I’m still at it sixty years later!
Oh, he doesn’t want to be near those icky women’s b00bies
From a booming energy independent low U6 economy to this in 9 months.
Never in my wildest nightmares would I have foreseen this.
It doesn’t take Democrats long to screw up literally everything! They are a menace to humanity.
If it ain’t broke, try, try again.
Californian diesel worries are hilarious! The cargo ships may have shutdown their engines, but they have massive generators going 24/7 while they wait, and those are pouring diesel by-product into the ocean LMAO! Oh, I just hate Democrats!
This won’t be fixed as long as Nazi Pelosi and F. Joe Biden get their ice cream delivered on time….
Shut the water supply being sent in from outside of Commiefornia. Tell them it won’t be turned on again until:
See which happens first: They give in or the state tears itself apart.
it’s not a bug, it’s a feature…. Barry Soetoro
Dems want china to run our ports.
They were upset when president Trump Booted China out of the Port of Long Beach.

How about they just start dumping those shipping containers, into the OCEAN, right there off the port?
Start with containers full of TEA,…as a hint.
And, before they do, spraypaint ‘lesko, Brandon! on the side.
After all, Biden putting the blame on the dockworkers, is like that idiot Baldwin, blaming the armorer, with his tweet “Who put a hot gun, in my hand?”
Same m.o., put the blame elsewhere. Ain’t working, for Baldwin or Biden.
To the elite, their REALITY is the headline, and they become so used to being shielded from negative consequences, for their actions, that anything is real, and nothing is real.
All that exists, is the image, the spin, and whatever they SAY is real.
Right until the sidewalk jumps up, and WHACKS them in the head.
Dutchman, I have never laughed so much at such a serious situation as I have at yours and many remarks on this thread.
This thread is serious/hilarious and your spelling has improved tremendously.
Proverb 28:16 Many are the griefs of the Ruler lacking a mind and whoever hates deceit prolongs his days.
Seems to be some missing tie ins to the lester dolt vid, so what did NBC cut out? No one wants to step on the CA emissions rule 3rd rail.
Green is GOOD! Dont question it, OR ELSE!
Remember when CFR member and traitor globalist RINO George Bush Sr said “A New World Order”? He meant the forthcoming “Free Trade” treaties his CFR comrade Bubba Clinton pushed through Congress for him, (one of the biggest betrayals of Heritage America in our history) to deconstruct Heritage America’s economy, and transfer our industrial technology and infrastructure to Communist China. (later they would treasonously send over US military & Nuclear tech).
That was what that traitor meant, the end of Heritage America dominance and the rise of Communist/Democrat China.
Colkitto: We must always take these dark-minded people at their word. Bush meant exactly what he said.
Same with this Klaus Schwab creep.
Agreed. Bush’s “Thousand Points Of Light” was twilight talk referring to the 1000’s of pages of legislation for those treasonous trade deals

This is really a California blockade. I’ve been to the California ports, and the East Coast ones too. The guys working the ports aren’t the problem. Far as I’m concerned, they can stack those containers higher! Btw…..FJB!!
Beautiful afternoon on the SoCal coast, today, and I can see a whole bunch of container ships sitting offshore, from Long Beach to Laguna Beach.
Slainte friend. How many of those container ships bear the letters “COSCO”?
Too far out to tell.
Apparently, Biden’s buddies at the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union have contributed to the problem by continually opposing automation, similar to the postal workers, which would have improved port productivity.
https://news.yahoo.com/supply-chain-crisis-exacerbated-bidens-030000024.html
FJB is probably unaware that Ports and ships are managed by some of the most sophisticated software out there. They HAVE the means to unload these ships with maximum efficiency.
but …
The trucks with empty trailers aren’t available. Huh? Seems the “green” voters … with the backing of the EPA have decided that BIPOC’s are dying in the ugly “urban” environment of The LBC an’ B what? Uh, my crew … (sorry, I be throwin’ down some Snoop). So … CA has made it really hard to be drivin’ no diesel rigs thru The LBC.
So youze alls gotsa be patient, and lower your expectation for gettin yer shit from China. It’s a new world order … and radical climate Justice is runnin this show. So back off whitey!! We know none of youze be drivin thru The LBC to pick yer own damn stuff. Damn crackahs.
That’s just about right. The world according to “climate justice” …
sundance has emphasized several times that everything the Democrats are doing, or not doing, is deliberate, planned chaos, division or decline. The Supply Chain Chaos is deliberate or it would have been fixed long ago.
SD’s article yesterday regarding Putin’s speech was very revealing. For unknown reasons, he seemed to be giving a warning OR wake up call to doltish Republicans and low info Americans. He noted that in the early days of the Russian revolution, dogmatic Bolsheviks were determined to “change existing ways and customs and not just political and economic ones, but the very notion of human morality and the foundations of a healthy society.”
He also mentioned the “Soviet Kulturtraegers (who) also invented some newspeak believing they were creating a new consciousness and changing values that way. And, as I have already said, they made such a mess it still makes one shudder at times.” What rational person doesn’t shudder at the present insanity of the woke and other movements that are sponsored by the Dems and allowed to sweep across most of the nation.
Putin’s history lesson and warning indicates that what is happening in the USA is a carefully planned major exercise or assault to drastically alter America. It clearly did not develop solely from a Marxist grass roots movement in the USA that was comprised of Marxist professors, naïve Hollywood dupes, fledgling outlier Marxist Leninist groups and a few radical politicians like the Squad.
This is an internationally inspired and funded effort to transform the USA and it’s worst enemies like China and the sellout wealthy globalist titans are involved in the takedown. If Putin is aiding the cause, its perplexing why he would provide so many hints about it. Soros is a major destructive pawn but is certainly not at the head of this despicable effort to ruin America. It has to be further exposed ASAP.
The puppet disgracing the White House, has no influence and therefore any of his dictates are meaningless. The puppet masters, are the ones deciding what gets done and what doesn’t.
Listening to the David Webb show and a few truckers calling in. The comments that stuck out to me was the requirements for bringing in an empty cargo container to be able to pick up a full one, the even higher prices for fuel and regulations as discussed here, the lack of repair parts for the current fleet and a two year wait for a new rig.

I wish Biden would just drop dead…Right now.
FJB should just mandate that the ships be fitted with wheels so they can drive straight to an Amazon warehouse.
FJB should order a canal be dug from the Gulf of California to Nevada, bypassing the port of Long Beach.
then continue digging all the way to seattle, and build the wall on the eastern shore of the new west coast.
