Sasse gets Comey to admit the FISA failures are in part Dir FBI responsibility.
Comey’s defense is that the system diffuses responsibility, and it would be better to go to a criminal warrant model, one agent one lawyer work, so responsibility is concentrated.
Sasse says many of his constituents think there is a deep state, and he wonders how that many bad actors can get away with what they got away with.
At least he is admitting a bit of reality, his constituents aren’t buying the kabuki any more.
Sasse also correctly notes that China is a bigger threat than Russia.
Best performance so far … Sasse. No contest.

It was all an accident. Too bad Nixon didn’t belong to this generation. All he would have needed to say was that the Watergate burglars we on a training exercise and broke into the wrong office building accidentally.

      • Zimbalistjunior says:

Nixon actually tried to get haldeman to get helms to tell the fbi to cease their investigation Bc of national security.
        Helms refused.

In the end Nixon was probably right Bc the fbi investigation did lead to revelation after revelation and the church committee which led to a curb on intel community kinda.

Why did helms refuse is a fascinating question. There is a school of thought that he was in league with Ray Cline who was anti Nixon Bc of the opening to China. (Cline was part of ‘Taiwan lobby’ with Goldwater and others).

You may have heard of Ray Cline.
He was Stefan Haller’s father in law.

And btw Halper claims to have been working in the same govt org (DPC) as the plumbers unit which burgled Watergate etc.

        Nothing to see here.

that’s a very deep dive summed up in short…

quite amazing these crony names coincidentally pop up one scandal after another.

is CORRUPTION inherited..or does it path itself with gain of function like a virus?

          • zimbalistjunior says:

yup…more coincidences already reported and discussed previously–
like strobe talbott, clinton and halper being at oxford together…talbott’s career starting with a shady scoop from russian source, clinton travels to russia, it goes on and on

looks like numerous recruits for the CIA–CIA picks out college kids and even high school kids who share similar amoral and somewhat lazy personalities—professional bull shit artists with some ambition but not enough smarts to get ahead on merit–
it helps if theyre related to spooks already–
and then CIA pushes their careers forward, helps them get ahead, and uses them as needed

heres a q: what do barack obama, beto, tulsi, mayor pete share?
answer: a single personality and profile type. malleable assholes.

its all fun and games except that theyve been ruining the country a little at a time…mediocrities on parade, completely amoral and ready to f the country if ordered…

problem probably started with the very formation of CIA—OSS needed amoral types, they were somewhat desperate– which is nice…except that dulles brothers combined their state department politics with the amorality, and you ended up with 70 years of shady deep state activity

James Comey is a sociopath. All the world is a stage for him. He craves as big an audience as possible when he’s on that stage, so that he can indulge afterward in fantasies about how many people he was able to fool. For him lying is all part of the act. He gets his jollies by lying and seeing how much he can get away with it.

Don’t feed his addiction: Turn off this hearing.

Amen! So sick of the social media Right giving air to lies. The Left sure knows how to rule with an iron fist, ignore its detractors, bulldoze the landscape with more lies, pave it with lies, and erect an entire political system upon the ruins. The Right worries how things may affect their phony righteousness.

Has anyone else noticed back when he was Director of the FBI that anytime when he would be seen in public, such as going to Capitol Hill to testify about this or that, he always towered over his security detail and entourage? I realize he is a tall man at 6’8″, but it seemed that he was a good foot or more taller than everyone around him. There had to have been people available who were closer to him in height, especially in the FBI, but it seems all the people he had around him in public were much shorter than he. Could it be that he purposely made sure the people he was around on the job in public were that much shorter than him so he could stand out better? There he would be walking down a hallway in the Capitol building surrounded by his people and towering over all of them. It always struck me as, well, it always stood out to me as remarkable.

It would be difficult to implement voter cheating here in SC. I am not implying it could not be done, just difficult. We have to show a photo ID and provide our signature on the ballot roll by our name in order to vote. I also voted early the last presidential election. It was in-person at the voter registration office. Same thing, ID and Signature required. I haven’t voted here in SC using a mail-in ballot, but I do know you must request one and you must provide your first and last name, date of birth and the last four digits of your SS#.

I don’t think Lindsey needs cheating to lose. He is on display as a swamp rat and I have to believe I’m not the only Trump voter who really detests him. I admit he looked pretty good during Kavanaugh but now he’s back to same old swamp rat Lindsey. I have to guess he’s banking on the Amy coney Barrett heatings to regain his good graces with Trump voters

If we can afford to dump only one rotten RINO (and I don’t think we can, actually – we need to get several more solid MAGA Senators), Mittens is a far better choice.

Lindsay is a pain in many ways but at least he didn’t vote (half-vote) for impeachment.

          • steph_gray says:

Oh and yes, I know Mittens is not up this round. I just looked at the list of the 19 who are, and given the current chaos, I would not dump any of them a month from now. 2022 is plenty soon enough to start the RINO hunt.

First things first – PDJT to keep the White House, R Senate to maintain, and House to win back… goals, goals…

  11. WhiteBoard says:

    this could be solved easily.

Cruz CORRECTS his statement, and says:

it is true the Trump campaign was spied on because of the 2 Hop Authority of a FISA warrant on Carter Page – whom communicated with the campaign as a part of his job.

(they are letting this go – to protect the public from outrage of FISA)

Such a silly statement merits little regard here on a SERIOUS site. First, the RNC holds NO authority over the choices of the voters. Secondly, SCOTUS has deemed a recall of a FEDERALLY elected member unconstitutional. This means it would require an AMENDMENT to make it happen AFTER ratification.

Cruz said to Comey that he could be viewed as “either corrupt or incompetent, and I don’t think you are incompetent” or something very close to that. I have 2 problematic thoughts about that.

The 1st is that Cruz left out a 3rd choice that of Comey being both, instead of just either or. I always like to put it as they are are either incompetently corrupt, or corruptly incompetent, or both. (smiles)

The 2nd problem is that as I look at all the Senators on this committee, or in the whole Senate, or members in the House, or within all our government agencies — there are way too many that I think could be viewed the same way — incompetently corrupt, corruptly incompetent, or both!

DeSantis seems to be.a good guy, but his background is not that of a problem solver. We need another problem solver like President Trump. Politicians and attorneys are not that type of people. Businesspeople spend their lives solving problems and fixing things. We should be careful not to fall into the old trap the voters were in for generations as they would constantly elect people with the same type of background. I’d have to see significant evidence that DeSantis, or anyone else, we support for President had the skills like President Trump has or I’m afraid we’d just be going back to the same old thing. Not that DeSantis isn’t a good man and useful in many places, but the leader of the Executive Branch needs to be the right kind of fit or we won’t be able to continue President’s Trump successes.

  32. cboldt says:

Comey answering Tillis says he does not think FISA was abused in going after Carter Page. All he will admit is that he was wroing in thinking the FISA apliaction review process was honest and sound.
Tillis asks if Comey thinks the mistakes were result of political bias. Comey answers he thinks the process was devoid of political bias. ZERO political bias in any of the FBI actions. See Horowitz report. Tillis says but why did Horowitz say “murky” and you say “no doubt there is no bias.”
Comey repeats the lie that Horiwitz said “no evidence of political bias.” Horowitz said “no documentary of testimonial evidence of political bias.”
Comey knows nothing of Hunter Biden investigation.
Bird-brain Hirono trying to make a point.

  33. zimbalistjunior says:

Comey states that Horowitz claims he found no evidence of political bias.
someone should check that. i believe horowitz said no evidence political bias affected decision making.
which horowitz later explained in hearing before these same idiots that he didnt find that there was no political bias nor would he disagree with the possibility that political bias affected decision making—just that he didnt find the evidence.
to which durham wrote a letter specifying his clarification of this issue.

now, using the roger stone or flynn case rationales, this statement by Comey would suffice for an indictment on false statement or perjury.

All those who sometimes might recall, plead ignorance, or opt for silence because of sources and methods, security, and / or ongoing investigations apparently need the sunlight of declassification, redaction removals, and revelation of documents to help clear up their confusion.

Let’s throw in Sullivan, Berman Jackson, the DC courts, the SDNY, the FISA judges, Nadler, Schiff, Pelosi, Letter, Schumer, and both houses of Congress as well. Let’s also remember their alleged helpers CrowdStrike, Mifsud, Sir Wood, Baumgartner, Downer, Halper, Chalupa, Veselnitskya, Goldstone, Akhmetshin, Simpson and Jacoby, Bromwich, Sussmann, Ferrante, Van Grack, Richman, Wittes, and Weissman.

I don’t want them or the people they purport to serve to be under any more confusion. Just like the Washington Post and New York Times when it came to Watergate then and this issue now, we know that the more legitimate sunlight comes, the more the public’s right to know can be served towards the goal of justice — which is the ultimate goal of both the media and these public servants and concern citizens, no?

The President may be restricted as far as what he can do on the election integrity matter, but he can do much towards the cause of justice nonetheless.

    Sunlight, now.

Brute force, lies, and appeal to emotion. A careful admission of a few into lower ranks that are well-cared for, and the system works.
Of course the players will claim they are service justice. Of course the press will claim it is honest. These are universal claims. There is no government and no press anywhere on the planet that claims otherwise.

the FBI was strong arming ALL PARTIES. they had Hillary by the balls with the server investigation (who cares if its closed, they own hillary).

they had to own POTUS too.

Comey was using his powers to dominate CONGRESS, PRESIDENCY, and JUDICIAL

Can’t bear this anymore. I now realize that the country I’ve loved, served, and nearly died for is lost. All that remains to be clarified is how steep the descent into misery will be. The great American experiment is over, a victim of the apathy of its citizens, corruption by its elected officials, and a turning away from God and His principles. Cry for the beloved country.

it gets the DARKEST before the light comes.

You are seeing the TIDE at its highest, right before the turn. watch for the document drop by the gov after the closing of the hearing.

I pray that you’re correct, truly I do. I know that it is in God’s hands AND I also know it’s too screwed up for anyone else to fix it!

It is painful to think how far down this country will go and how long will it take.

Lyin Jim is a waste of time. I want to hear from Julian Assange. Would like confirmation from him that the late Seth rich provided the DNC emails. That would blow this wide open. Alas, that is why the senate won’t call Julian. If we want facts, we don’t go to the senate.

Sedition and Conspiracy and Arrogance as doing such. He went rogue & deserves full punishment. Americans demand it!!

Stopped by CTH for a brief update on Comey hearing. Thought I may see where someone posted:

Comey wasn’t at the hearing, for that reason, but we can send Trump’s Proud Boys to pick him up, Sen Booker told us they on call.
