Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †
“Words”. Just “words”. Days after Spike Lee’s vituperative rant, in which he mentioned his musician father and the address of the home in Ft Greene, Brooklyn where he grew up, his father’s home and the home of a next door neighbor were vandalized with spray painted graffiti and had windows broken.
Spike Lee deals with the fallout of his inflammatory remarks close to home: Vandals spray paint graffiti and break windows at his parent’s home and the home of a neighbor – “Do the Right Thing”
The graffiti stated: “Do the Right Thing” – an apparent reference to a Spike Lee movie of the same name…. in which the climatic scene revolved around violence related to an argument about music ….
Spike Lee may enjoy inserting himself into controversy to keep himself relevant in the ever shifting sands of pop culture, but even his own family has had enough:
“And I think Spike needs to stop with whatever situation he was talking about over here ’cause he doesn’t live here and he’s not involved in it, you know,” half brother Arnold Lee told CBS 2′s Jessica Schneider.
Lee has spent the last few days apologizing to neighbors, and trying to mend relations between the neighbors and his family. Owners of the vandalized property state to repair the damage and remove the graffiti will cost “thousands” of dollars. No word if Lee has manned up and offered restitution, errr…. “reparations” ? for the backlash from his incendiary rhetoric.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the insufferable racist hypocrisy embedded within the ideology of Democrats. Imagine if Clint Eastwood demanded black people not be allowed to move in to white neighborhoods ? C’mon media, progs, et al… baby steps… Can you see the racism?… can you?…. step toward the light… it won’t hurt… honest.
FORT GREENE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Spike Lee had some harsh words for whites moving into predominantly black neighborhoods in New York City while speaking at a Black History Month lecture at Pratt Institute on Tuesday.
As 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported Wednesday, the director and Brooklyn native said that white newcomers to neighborhoods like Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant are doing the wrong things.
Lee told the audience that while he’s all for democracy, he doesn’t like that whites are trying to impose their standards and wealthy ideas on everyone and everything, D’Auria reported. (more…)
As first reported by the Army Times, a US Army Pfc (Private, First Class) posted an Instagram “selfie” (“sheffeynation”) of herself hiding in her car during the sounding of “Retreat” to avoid standing at attention, saluting and rendering honors to the American flag as the colors are lowered for the day.
To quote Ms. Tariqka Sheffey:
“This is me laying back in my car hiding so I don’t have to salute the 1700 flag, KEEP ALL YOUR ‘THATS SO DISRESPECTFUL/HOWRUDE/ETC.’ COMMENTS TO YOURSELF cuz, right now, IDGAFFFF.”
PFC Sheffey enjoys collecting her twice monthly pay checks but doesn’t feel she should be forced to “honor” the American flag/
UPDATE: Less than an hour after delivering a mortally flaccid and limp wristed denouncement of Russia invading Ukraine’s Crimea, Dear Leader shows up at DNC fundraiser to announce HAPPY HOUR.
YESTERDAY – CNN’s Chief International Correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, informed network anchor Wolf Blitzer on Thursday that there was no indication that Russian forces were planning to intervene militarily in Ukraine. Less than 24-hours later, Russian forces militarily intervened in Ukraine.
“Some are concerned we might be on the eve of another Cold War,” Blitzer fretted. “What, if anything, would stop Vladimir Putin from getting involved?”
“There doesn’t seem to be any notion that he is actually going to do so,” Amanpour insisted.
“The U.S. right now says it only sees Russia’s military exercises ‘within the normal range,’” she continued. “It does not see any of the kind of massive planning that Russia would have to do in terms of planning, and logistics, and securing air, and land, and rail, and road corridors to incur into Ukraine.”
The last time the federal government had a budget in place and signed by the president was Sept of 2007 for fiscal year 2008, and it was signed by George Bush. President Obama has NEVER had a day in office with a budget in place to restrict or guide spending proposals. Not.One.Day.
WASHINGTON DC – Senate Democrats will not write a budget for the next fiscal year.
One year after writing and passing the first Senate Democratic budget resolution in four years, Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said her conference will not make an effort in the 2014 midterm election year.
In a statement, Murray said there was no reason to do a fiscal 2015 budget after the two-year deal struck in December with House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
That deal set budget ceilings for the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years. The 2015 fiscal year begins on Oct. 1. (more…)
WASHINGTON DC – Archivists released thousands of records from the Bill Clinton presidency on Friday, including documents on activities by former first lady — and prospective 2016 presidential candidate — Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The more than 4,000 pages of documents include records on the health care task force Mrs. Clinton chaired in 1993, as well as her efforts on children’s issues, women’s rights, and micro-credit for developing countries.
The Friday release is the first in a series of document dumps from the Clinton era over the next several weeks that are expected to total more than 30,000 pages.
Most of the focus will be on records related to Hillary Clinton, the former senator, secretary of State and unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2008 who may make another bid in 2016. (more…)
“her mom Ethel, joined the ovation“…. Yeah, of course she did.
NEW YORK – Kerry Kennedy has been found not guilty of drugged driving — and gave herself a hearty round of applause after jurors were dismissed from court by a Westchester County judge.
The jury handed down the verdict after just 30 minutes of deliberation Friday morning. The six-member panel had deliberated about 45 minutes Thursday night after being handed the case.
Kennedy — who had faced up to a year in jail if convicted — hugged both her lawyers as the verdict was read, and then began clapping after the jurors left the courtroom.
Her lawyers and a band of supporters, including mom Ethel, joined the ovation. (continue reading)
About four weeks ago it occurred to me that my husband and I must sometimes look a bit like those kids tucked into the back seat of the family car heading out to an unfamiliar destination – back in the day.
The youngsters are surprised at being on a trip that they knew nothing about the day before but they find ways to make the best of the unexpected outing on an unfamiliar road. By noon, however, the sense of adventure wears thin and the question(s) began floating up from the back seat to the authorities in the front seat.
Are we there yet?
He’s not staying on his side.
How much farther is it?
I see a house! Is that where we’re going?
….are we there yet?
Deciding ahead of time what we can stand. Trying to make sense of the turns and the shifts. And thinking that accepting the inevitable will allow ease in the interim, we immediately forget that the unknowns are unknown at all times.
Not knowing what we don’t know has become home port.
Like Alice in Wonderland we walk bravely at full height on the surface in the sunshine of the woods, but then our struggle to comprehend shrinks in direct relation to the querulous question that we try not to ask again at three in the afternoon of this long, long day as we realize we are falling, falling, falling.
