(UK Independent) The Libyan former prime minister Ali Zeidan fled last week after parliament voted him out of office.
A North Korean-flagged oil tanker, the Morning Glory, illegally picked up a cargo of crude from rebels in the east of the country and sailed safely away, despite a government minister’s threat that the vessel would be “turned into a pile of metal” if it left port: the Libyan navy blamed rough weather for its failure to stop the ship. Militias based in Misrata, western Libya, notorious for their violence and independence, have launched an offensive against the eastern rebels in what could be the opening shots in a civil war between western and eastern Libya.
Without a central government with any real power, Libya is falling apart. And this is happening almost three years after 19 March 2011 when the French air force stopped Mu’ammer Gaddafi’s counter-offensive to crush the uprising in Benghazi. Oh how cool, a liberal haven nominates then selects a transgender to win a title of “Miss Congeniality”… oh, but how all the cool kids voted…. yet they couldn’t quite bring themselves ( Delta Tau Delta fraternity) to vote for her to win the big title of “Miss Delta Queen”… and dating her is well, um… nevermind.    Smiles everyone, smiles… we’re cool n’ stuff.    

CALIFORNIA – A Chapman University senior became the first transgender contestant in the university’s annual all-woman pageant Wednesday night, winning the title of Miss Congeniality.

Addie Vincent, 21, faced off against 15 other competitors for the title of Miss Delta Queen, a competition organized by the university’s Greek system. The pageant’s winner was Alexandria Kessinger. (more…)

(Reuters Report) Russian state media said Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to break with Ukraine and join Russia on Sunday, as Kiev accused Moscow of pouring forces into the peninsula and warned separatist leaders “the ground will burn under their feet”.
RIA news agency said 93 percent backed annexation, citing an exit poll released as voting ended at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT). Another Russian agency said turnout was over 80 percent.
Caught in an East-West crisis reminiscent of the Cold War, Kiev said Russia’s build-up of forces in the Black Sea region was in “crude violation” of an international treaty, and announced plans to arm and train 20,000 members of a newly-created National Guard to defend the nation. (link)

An al-Qaeda supergrass (informer) told a court last week that four to five Malaysian men had been planning to take control of a plane, using a bomb hidden in a shoe to blow open the cockpit door.

The ATF wanted to seize lower receivers (base for building a AR15, but not a functional weapon) claiming they were “illegal firearms” and wanted Ares customer lists, to be able to hunt down the people who bought them. Ares refused to turn over the lists and got a temporary restraining order against the ATF. The ATF then went to the judge ex parte (without Ares present) and got the judge to essentially nullify the prior order, so they could go in, grab the receivers and the list.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s national security team discussed the Ukraine crisis in a session at the White House on Saturday after a last-ditch bid to find a diplomatic solution to the Cold War-style standoff with Russia floundered.
Secretary of State John Kerry, who just returned from talks with his Russian counterpart in London, was at the White House meeting along with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
Obama did not attend the meeting but was being briefed about it and other developments involving Ukraine, said Laura Lucas Magnuson, a spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council.  (read more)

“Definitely,” said Gibbs. “Absolutely.”

Today we think of Sharon as she attends to final services for her beloved husband and closes a link within the chain of life.

You see, it’s rare when we are able to witness a link close within the chain of our life.  Usually we can only see the individual links in hindsight.
We hear a familiar song, or stumble onto a reminder, and we recognize all that existed within that memory has changed completely.  Perhaps we live in a different place; perhaps we hold a different job;  perhaps we are surrounded by entirely different people than those who exist within the stirred memory, within the previous link.  We can see them clearly in hindsight, but never actually see the closing as they are forged.
It’s profoundly rare to be cognizant of the moment the link closes and a new link begins.  It is more rare, still, to participate in the closing.

For many beautiful reasons Sharon holds a very special place in all of our hearts; so instead of presenting a story of time remembered perhaps you will pause with us for a moment – and join us in sending your thoughts, prayers and heart across the miles.
