CALIFORNIA – A yearbook photo of a high school teacher making a political statement by dressing up like slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin was stirring up controversy in the community Thursday.

As classes let out for the day at Brentwood’s Heritage High School in Brentwood, California Thursday, students were more excited than usual because the school had issued the 2014 yearbook.

Very quickly, a portrait taken by longtime history teacher Spencer Smith became a hot topic sweeping across campus.

In the photo, Smith is dressed like Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager killed by neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman in 2012.

Smith is wearing a hoodie with the hood covering his head and he’s holding a bag of Skittles candy.

Reactions to the photo among students were mixed.

“I think it’s OK that he did it, just not in the yearbook. I think he can do it at his house or on his Facebook. But not in the yearbook,” said sophomore Amber McKim. (more…)

PURE GOBBLEDYGOOK – Progressive Rhode Island School Tries To Walk Back Cancellation of “Honors Night”… #MiserableFail

liberal-menatl-disorder-275x75

A Progressive Middle School in Rhode Island cancelled an Honors Night event to celebrate academic achievement because it rewards success, which they say is too “exclusive“.

The public calls them out – they reverse course, or well, try too, and fail miserably.   Here’s the announcement and the walk back.   You decide:

Dear Cole Families,

We would like to take this opportunity to notify you of a change to our annual spring events at Cole [Middle School]. Honors Night has been a longstanding tradition in our community — one that was created in the Cole Junior High School era.

Members of the school community have long expressed concerns related to the exclusive nature of Honors Night. Therefore, we have made the collective decision to recognize students during team-based recognition ceremonies and graduation. This will afford us the opportunity to celebrate the individual and collective successes of all students and their effort, progress, and excellence.

Additionally, our Cole varsity athletes will receive their medals and trophies at an after school ceremony.

Best wishes for a nice weekend.

Kindest regards,

Alexis Meyer and Dan Seger  (Principal and Vice-Principal)

OK, you getting this?  Because it’s too “exclusive” to honor the top performers they cancelled the event in favor of an ‘everybody equal’ ceremony.

What do they do next ?   They tell everyone they didn’t communicate the change well enough.   GASLIGHTING ALERT !

Progressive Middle School Cancels “Honors Night” Because It Rewards Success Which is Too Exclusive

Question for PROGS:   Then why grade ?

Within your ideological stupidity – If there is no differentiation between the assimilated drone mind that must be just as good as, but no better than, the standard deviation, then why even grade the kids?   Might as well just pass out collective distribution diplomas.

socialism_democratic_partyCONNECTICUT – Middle School Cancels Honors Night – The notice was sent to parents over the weekend in an e-mail signed by School Principal Alexis Meyer and Assistant Principal Dan Seger.

Citing concerns about the “exclusive nature” of the annual honors night at Archie R. Cole Middle School, school officials have decided to scrap the tradition.

Instead, students who would normally be recognized at the annual spring tradition will be honored during team-based recognition ceremonies and graduation. (more…)

How dare you not comply !   “Your ?…. You want YOUR ?”

angry-michelle-obama-jpgWASHINGTON DC – Sounding a new aggressive tone, first lady Michelle Obama vowed in a private conference call on Monday to fight industry efforts at rolling back healthy school-lunch standards, an issue that could come up for a vote on Capitol Hill later this week.

The remarks to health activists were made in an off-the-record conference call at the beginning of a week of intense lobbying around proposed changes in the national school-lunch program, which sets standards for fat, sugar and sodium levels in food.

Colorado High School Senior Told He’s “Not Welcome” At School After Raising Gadsden Flag As Senior Prank…

…And, despite the splodey head response from the school, he raised it according to all flag decorum.   WOLVERINES !!

gadsden flagCOLORADO – Greg Stoneburner, a senior who just graduated from Central High School in Grand Junction, Colo., said he was told in no uncertain terms that he was no longer welcome at the school after raising a Gadsden flag on the school’s flagpole. Moreover, he told Examiner.com in an exclusive interview Friday, the principal withheld his flag and his diploma until after his graduation walk.

The incident, he said on Facebook, took place on May 9. That’s when he replaced the school’s flag with the yellow “Don’t Tread On Me” banner often associated with the Tea Party as a senior prank. He also posted a paper to the pole that told the history of the flag.

Gadsden_flagThe prank didn’t sit too well with Jodie Diers, the principal of Central High School, who was livid over the prank. Other students, Stoneburner told Examiner, claimed she was angrily yelling to have the flag pulled down when she first saw it. According to Stoneburner, she pulled him out of a scholarship breakfast and told him and his parents the flag was a “slap in the face” to the school. She then said he was “not welcome” at Central High. (more…)

Just Another Typical Day At Nimitz High School – Aldine, Texas

Remember the lap dancing teacher ?  Yep, same school district

HOUSTON TEXAS – […] Police say the teenager was using his phone in class and got physical with the substitute teacher to get it back.

The student actually walked himself to the principal’s office to turn himself in. He was charged with injury to the elderly. His name isn’t being released because he is a minor. (continue reading)

Weapons Grade Stupidity – North Dakota State University Bans Fencing Due To Weapons Policy….

(Via MoonBattery) Zero tolerance for weapons lunacy isn’t limited to grade schools.

In colleges, the time-honored sport of fencing may take it in the heart:

The newly formed fencing club at North Dakota State University (NDSU) cannot practice on campus thanks to the university’s weapons policy.

“The current interpretation of the non-weapon policy in NDSU…understands our fencing equipment as weapons,” Enrique Alvarez, the club’s coach, told Valley News Live.

The swords the club uses have no sharp points or blades. The tips are flat and spring-loaded. Still, the university deems them weapons; as such, possession or use of the swords is prohibited on university owned or controlled property.
