He seems like a nice enough guy. He’s a college professor and has a PhD in classics-an academic who speaks like one.
I have found VDH to be one of those commentators who enjoys talking about issues and historically analyzing various political topics without really getting to the crux of the issue, which is good vs evil.
He’s an affable fellow with a soothing voice who kinda sorta thinks President Trump is accomplishing some good things, but finds our President not quite as couth as he would prefer.
I don’t dislike VDH. I’m just weary of people on “our side” who like the academic lounge kind of talking about our problems without getting dirty by taking action.
In other words, he’s no Sundance.
He tends to bore me when he’s talking. Maybe the monotone of his voice. It takes him too long to make a point. He is easier to read.

I see it from people I am friends with and very intelligent people in my family too; the hyper-focus on it to the exclusion of everything else. Its a type of blindness created by brain washing, I think. I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t track with intelligence, and I wonder what it is tied to. Please God, help them see.

You left out the word “new” in your reference to what Sundance said; so, I wonder if you missed its importance, i.e., even though Hanson’s Canadian audience has increased unexpectedly “since he started talking about Canada,” his many American listeners still far outnumber those from above our northern border.
In other words, Hanson’s newest audience members to the north are not likely to endanger his livelihood.

I’ve heard this episode already but only now am seeing Jillian. She was just the voice from the Daily Signal (I think, unless I’m confused with the Caller) who was asking VDH questions to get his explanations started. Didn’t really take note of her.

I think she is best known for being a host on the TV show “The Biggest Loser”. This was in the early 2000’s.

I think this is a misreading of what’s going on here. She’s a fitness expert, she got her fame on the show “The Biggest Loser” where basically she and other coaches helped people lose weight. She’s lesbian and one would presume liberal.
A couple years ago, she started openly questioning why the liberals were so insane now. She’s basically “conservative adjacent”. She doesn’t claim to know everything and doesn’t represent herself as an expert on anything other than fitness, which, to her credit, she is an expert on fitness.
So the exasperation you’re seeing from her is genuine, she’s not an expert on Canadian trade and she’s talking to someone who’s explaining it to her. She’s not acting like she has it all figured out, and she’s not an overly political person.

I watched a video today on the Credit Suisse disaster back in the late 2000’s. I was not paying attention back then but there was a whistleblower from within that implicated the Swiss Bank in drug running, human trafficking, and other illegal activities. She’s not that political, she’s just a fairly normal person. I think the reason she can’t get down with the crazy liberal ideology is because she doesn’t see herself as a victim, on the show she was always basically preaching if you want to be healthy you need to eat right and work out and didn’t take any excuses. Despite his credentials, and they are rock solid, he was raised on a farm in California. His stories about this are legend, from digging out a septic tank at the direction of his father or crawling around on his elbows in a earthen crawl space to repair plumbing in his childhood home at 70 plus years old.

Canadians love Hansen because he speaks in tones they find comforting. He’s an establishment guy who is somewhat MAGA but still very much a part of the old Republican guard. He can say these things to them and not be ‘scary’.
Even the most conservative of them, outside of a few who have or are waking up, still pine for the days of Bush and Harper. Americans who support Trump have moved on from that era because they see it for what it was. We have to remember that the Canadians largely benefitted from NAFTA; we most certainly did not. Furthermore, they were largely insulated from their losses during the GWOT; we weren’t. They have been insulated from the structural failings of their system because their system has always been more socialist; we were not.
I agree; it would do them well to get a bit of a cold shower. Cold showers aren’t pleasant usually, but they can wake you up. I don’t envy them their current position though. We should be truly grateful that we have the system we have, however flawed. They have no real safeguards, nor an ability to get someone like our President thanks to their system.
Flooding a country with non military (immigrants) was a tactic used by Persia during the Persian Greek wars. It destabilized the existing population because they felt they could not attack what they saw as innocent people. By the time it was too late the targeted existing nation state was concquered by Persia.

I agree. He has a very good handle on explaining both why Trump is doing what he is doing and his method and also contrasting that with the crazy that is the Democrats. He hasn’t yet latched onto the vision of National Sovereignty that Trump is executing and which Rubio is the torchbearer. I think he will in due time.

I like Hanson but he is one of a type I refer to as “thank you Captain Obvious“. Long winded faculty lounge dissertations, cultivated if front of captive audience of young heads full of mush. A step up from National Review but falling short of mud and blood solutions. He plays well among the Georgetown cocktail circuit crowd. Polite and rational observation without actually expecting anything to get done.

In WWII the Canadians produced a lot of fine soldiers. I believe Canada doesn’t have an army because it’s been mostly dibanded. It’s a mistake to alienate that part of the Canadaian populous. What part of Alberta reflects that old Canadian bravery present from the beginning of settlement?
VDH is simply put a professor. And a professors job, though seldom used these days is to teach people how to think not what think. I believe that is a strength Hanson posesses. At time s he gets passinate about his subject and overteps. He then backs up to his original purpose. Having people learn how to think is a very great service. Donald Trump on the other hand has a job of convincing people to elect and support him and his allies a very different proposition. That creates the difference in how they present.

I visited Niagara Falls a month ago and it was beautiful. I did the full tour of the US and Canadian sides. When we went over to the Canadian side, I swear I saw almost no white people. Everyone was brown or black, and most of them were begging on the street corners. It looked a lot like Vegas but with no white people. There is a globalist effort worldwide to replace whites without question. Remove the few left with common sense, and they have their Communist Utopia.
Smart people listen to VDH and Thomas Sowell. If you think you are smarter than those two, you are kidding no one but yourself.
I thought it was interesting that his daughter is so offended by Trump’s lack of social niceties. And Ms. Michaels says the same about her mom. It doesn’t surprise me, though. I see it from people I am friends with and very intelligent people in my family too; the hyper-focus on it to the exclusion of everything else. Its a type of blindness created by brain washing, I think. I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t track with intelligence, and I wonder what it is tied to. Please God, help them see.
