SD, if I may opine, as a former Navy Search and Rescue Crewman, you never get in a fight with a hysterical pilot/ sailor/fill-in-the-blank in the water. Stealth to gain control is first. Then, if that doesn’t work, drown them, rescue them, bring them back to life in the helicopter. Brutal…yes. But, sometimes the hard decisions are the appropriate decisions. Just my two cents from atop my soapbox.

Problem being, every new trough creates vested interests who will fight to the death for their new entitlements.
One of those interests is the political class, because that’s who gets paid (campaign donations, jobs, investment opportunities, etc.) by the trough-feeders to defend the trough.

Quartz from Brazil for radio crystals, and bauxite from mines outside of the US for the massive amount of aluminum needed, where the only 2 things I know of we needed outsourced. Return this place to ‘Island USA’, and now that includes Canada and Mexico. Heck, we even invented synthetic rubber so we did not need sap from the Far East.
