Rubio is the CIA’s new and improved Ron DeSantis. Unlike Ron DeSantis, who flamed out because he wasn’t authentic, Rubio is going to very much publicly appear to be authentic.
I’ve noticed a couple of things about Rubio as he performs his duties as Secretary of State.
First, he doesn’t appear to be getting attacked by the UniParty very much, as compared to President Trump or Tulsi Gabbard or Pete Hegseth for example.
The most effective MAGA warriors seem to incur the most wrath from the enemy, yet Rubio has, for the most part, been spared. I wonder why?
And second…..Marco Rubio IS NOT a natural born United States citizen.
Rubio was born in Miami, and after living there I can understand why you think sections of it are not part of the United States…
4ubio’s parents weren’t US citizens at the time of his birth, which means he’s not a Natural Born Citizen, and therefore INELIGIBLE FOR THE PRESIDENCY.

Secretary Rubio made his MAGA bonafides clear when he declared in early 2025, without preface or hesitation, that the US government is using Ukraine as a proxy for war with Russia. By doing so he effectively burned all his boats upon arrival at that shore. He has demonstrated powerful loyalty to President Trump and his agenda for America.
Rubio will always be intelligence like Obama, Bush, and the Clintons.

At this point I like Rubio more for ’28. His transformation from deep state tool and member of gang of eight seems more sincere than Vance’s from being Peter Thiel’s boy. His judgement seems more internalized, whereas something about Vance seems like he is reading cue cards.

It doesn’t really matter. He can’t win the Rust Belt. The diverse groups that put Trump over the top in ’24 won’t line up behind Rubio. Maybe Vance, but that window is closing too.

A very good possibility, she has shown much courage, though I do not know enough to judge her MAGA bona fides.
Tulsi Gabbard has close to 100% MAGA bona fides, she is a former Democrat that believes in leveraging the power of government to implement government solutions to government problems. Not all of that is bad, obviously, but MAGA and Tea Party / Don’t Tread on Me libertarians currently have a shaky alliance that is held together with massive amounts of money and she may be best positioned to keep the money flowing.
I don’t like Tulsi for President, but that is where things stand right now. I would like an actual conservative for President, not a slightly reformed Democrat.

Vance is a man, similar to Obama, who doesn’t know who he is. He has no foundation from which to fight. Vance is VP for a reason, and it isn’t because he is a rock solid independent critical thinker that speaks his mind.

Im with you @stark. I feel Vances statements and actions are heavily poll tested and choreographed.
VP is unfortunately just a show pony position not one to implement or grow much skill.
I had hoped he’d learn trumps ways, but I don’t think hes a trump-in-training, it feels.more that hes just waiting his turn.
I don’t think he excelled at his chance at diplomacy with Iran.
I still think his wife is a democrat. Which always proves to be a detriment to conservatives in government.
Rubio makes me nervous just because I don’t understand how a zebra can change his stripes. I sure am very close to conviced of his sincerity just because his success is backing up his words.

Vance’s wife bothers me, too. The Hindus are busy taking over lots of govt entities: Vivek wants to become OH’s Gov — he’s a buddy of the Vances, who named one of their kids Vivek. FBI’s Cash Patel is not that great as Director. There’s so much to investigate, but I think he’s getting fouled up before he can even start. With Vance, and his pretty blue eyes, not one of his now four children looks like him! That’s what happens with interracial marriages. Whites lose out and J.D. was the one who made a point of how much he considers the people of KY/Middletown OH to be so formative in his life. The outsiders/non-Euros spot weakness and pounce, so they can get a piece of what Western Civ has built. I have seen this in my own family. The others can see our “niceness” and will use it for their own purposes. Remember, he met Usha at Yale Law School. Sorta like Bill met Hillary there many yrs earlier.

His wife is another prominent concern, as is the fact that JD is his third name, but the number one thing that makes me leery is owing everything you have to one man. Thiel has financed or bundled financing not only for his political career, but his business endeavors, with the convenient timing of his changing from a critic of Trump to a supporter.
I am one of those reformed critics too, as many of the extra million(s) that voted for him in 2020 and 2024, so I understand changing positions with better information, but I didn’t receive millions of dollars in the process either.

Declassified documents were released-just prior to the ASEAN Summit-laying the blame for election interference on China.
And of course the Corrupt Corporate Media was right on time, grilling Secretary Rubio about dialogue with China over election interference.
If I didn’t know better (sarc) I would think that there is an operation being conducted to blow up talks with China.
Secretary Rubio, to his credit, refused to take the bait. Same is true with President Trump, who will still have a cordial, respectful, productive meeting with Xi in September.
Seems like President Trump has everything under control.

International politics demands a certain degree of kabuki theatre.
What would you prefer, having a dialog with them or lobbing nukes? The U.S. has no choice than to get along with a country as large as China. We will have differences and disagreements. Those can only be solved by negotiation. The alternative is going to cost millions of lives.
Because they need to discuss it face-to-face?
Rubio said we don’t agree with them but the two countries with the most power need to communicate.
President Trump puts America first, his ego comes after and he uses it to keep us first.
Even if that means having talks with your biggest enemy.

Listening to Secretary Rubio’s press briefing in Manila reminded me of JD Vance’s address to the Munich security conference last year, in that America is blessed to have these two men as the potential presidential ticket in ’28 to carry on the policies of President Trump. If I had my druthers, I’d prefer to have Rubio heading that ticket since he’s older than Vance by 13 years and would undoubtedly have more appeal to the Hispanic vote, but I think a private meeting among these two men with Trump at the appropriate time will determine who is willing to accept the veep role.
As our 47th President often says, “We’ll see what happens.”
