I’ve said it before, U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra is the most underpaid U.S. emissary sent to a hostile nation and constantly surrounded by threats, bitterness, anger and hatred.
It would be easier to be U.S. ambassador to North Korea.
There is so much nuance inside this interview, it is remarkable.
Ambassador Hoekstra tries in his best diplomatic form to tell the two Canadians Michael LeBlanc and Dr. Sylvain Charlebois about the underlying nature of the U.S-Canada trade conflicts. However, in typical Canadian fashion both indoctrinated interviewers are curiously stumped by the points Hoekstra presents. I am prompting this one because you also need to see the body/facial language. WATCH:
[SIDENOTE: The Canadians needed to turn off the comments on YouTube because Canadians are angry, bitter, abusive, vulgar and nasty in every comment section on the subject of U.S-Canada relations.]
Canada’s greatest strategic weakness is what Canadians call their greatest strength, pride.
There is a big difference between being proud and being prideful. The Canadian worldview is based on the latter.
♦ The U.S. and Mexico pick up trade agreement discussions on July 20, 2026. Not long after July 20th, sometime within the first two weeks of August there is a high probability the next shock to the Canadian system will come from Trump. However, it depends on how far out on the ledge cult leader Mark Carney is willing to take his believers.
On/around the end of August we will enter the ‘Trump playing with them‘ phase, just like Trump played with them in Jan, Feb, March ’25 over the 51st state stuff. President Trump will create turmoil because he holds all the cards for when he triggers the next sequence of events.
Essentially, the landscape is already set up. The bleachers are already built. The venue is already selected. The prideful Canadians have no concept of it.
At a point determined by Trump he will invite them into the gauntlet. There is no escape and only one way in.
Carney sits down at the table, Trump announces his demands, Carney balks, Trump glances to Greer, Greer hands Carney the formal exit paperwork and then suddenly everyone around Carney realizes what just happened. Trump set up a CUSMA trap.
A six-month countdown clock now ticks loudly. Trump repeats his demands. Carney looks around at his trade delegation, then asks for a few moments. They leave to huddle….
In the Canadian conference room, someone tells the group a six-month exit is now active. The walls are slowly closing.
If no terms are accepted, in six months all U.S. trade with Canada is immediately laissez-faire, no trade agreement backstops anything, meaning every trade is subject to the sectoral whims of the USA commerce department to outline the terms.
Carney asks his team what is happening. Trump tells them to take all the time in the world to think about it, and to give Jamieson or Howard a call if they have questions.
Trump and Greer then hold a press conference, telling the world the formal exit paperwork has now been issued. However, the U.S and Mexico already have a bilateral deal outlined and ready to begin, so U.S-Mexico trade is seamless. The only issue is Canada.
The following day analysts, economists, banking and finance experts begin running the numbers for Canada…… A slow and unstable Canadian economy collapse begins first with a run on the banks by Canadian dollar holders. Everyone needs to buy USD.
Europe and the U.K try to step in to assist by buying Canadian treasuries, but the risk is astronomical.
75% of Canada’s economy is based on trade that is now uncertain.
Suddenly the team around Carney look at things differently. They realize Canada doesn’t sell 75% of their output to the USA; the USA buys 75% of Canadian output.
In every economic relationship, the seller has no leverage. All leverage belongs to the buyer.
The seller can sell anything, but without buyers they are nothing. In a laissez-faire system suddenly U.S. buyers start to dictate terms and prices. The seller has no option. Life inside Canada is FUBAR.
The Chinese move quickly, buying up Canadian holdings for pennies on the ever-diminishing CAD.
The ‘shoe drops’ sometime after July 20th.
Canada cannot see the gauntlet.
♦ Canadians will willingly want China to buy their assets instead of Americans.
Why? Because the Canadian identity is defined by their main focus on ‘not being American.’ It’s all they know.
I can tell you specifically how it will materialize if you want, because I have already gamed this out. You might even make some money if you pay attention.
Toyota and Honda will do exactly what they have said they will do; they will exit Canadian manufacturing.
With full approval by Carney and the Canadian government, BYD and Geely will step in, purchase and take over those manufacturing plants to create vehicles in Canada (pennies on the CAD).
Canada will cheer because they will believe they just saved all those auto sector jobs. However, a few reality months later and suddenly it is all Chinese industrial operations bringing in Chinese workers to retool the factories.
Canada will end up paying unemployment benefits to Canadian workers, while Chinese factory workers prepare the facilities to manufacture BYD and Geely autos. The Canadian people will grit their teeth, yet do nothing because they accept their provincial government has already been corrupted by Chinese money.

Definitely time to stock up on popcorn.
Wonder when Great Britain will step in and make some waves about the “Canadian economic situation”. Will the Brits want to relinquish any ground to the Chinese? A very interesting dynamic as the Canadian economy continues to falter.
The Brits have already relinquished ground to the Chinese.
Approved by Parliament Chinese will construct what has been called a “mega” Embassy not far from Whitehall in the heart of London.. Near the British Deep State operations.
It wouldnt surprise me one iota of the Chinese and the Brits are joining forces against the new sovereign construct which has been underway since the beginning of President Trump’s third term.
Time was when I wouldn’t have entertained the possibility. But I’ve learned a lot since then; such as the world we thought we knew disappeared long ago.
That should be interesting. We already know how the Chinese feel about muslims.
2 Chinese Brits have been convicted for spying for China
LONDON, June 18 (Reuters) – Two men, including one who worked as a British immigration officer, were jailed on Thursday after being convicted of spying on prominent pro-democracy dissidents now based in Britain on behalf of Hong Kong, and ultimately China.
Chung Biu “Bill” Yuen, 66, and Chi Leung “Peter” Wai, 41, who worked for the UK Border Force, were convicted last month of assisting a foreign intelligence service by carrying out surveillance on targets between December 2023 and May 2024.

You want popcorn to watch genuine and entirely preventable tragedy of people’s lives?
Looks like you have spelled snow Mexicans wrong
Yoi can’t fix STUPID. Sometimes you have to let the little fella stick his tongue on a frozen lamppost
…….or pee on an electric fence!
Carney and those guys probably never read “The Art of the Deal”? They should have, Trump rarely loses, but really how do these Canadians not notice the flags that Pete was telling them.
Did you notice Carney was on Trumps tail to talk to at that Summit. Carney ruined Canada worse than Justin.
The Canadian government is causing this. The USA is not causing it, nor can we unilaterally prevent it.
Maybe those so-called “intelligent” Canadians in the big cities of Quebec and Ontario should stop eating popcorn while watching their favorite news channel CBC and go online to seek the truth.
But that won’t happen as evidenced here from Dekester, BoboftheNorth and other true Canadians who have told us how brainwashed the rest of the populace has become. We can all relate to how they feel after suffering four years of a braindead, installed puppet for president here in the US……and we’re only one midterm away from that Hell on Earth scenario to return.
I wonder if those participants of the Freedom Convoy wish they would have stood up more firmly to Trudeau’s Nazi retaliation and brought this government control issue to a head earlier? Of course, the majority of Americans went along with our own Nazi orders during the plandemic so it seems like honor and nobility are rare traits in this day and age.
I only wish that somehow the sane Canadians get through all of this without a Chinese robot army invading their country.
I wonder how a Jim River DFT #6 would work on a CHYNA robot soldier?
Popcorn is definitely called for but, would rather see fencing being put up on the northern border.
Sundance has this gamed out very logically.
Tragically…..but logically.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
Hard lessons coming for Canadians and their liberal governing overlords.
I’m mildly curious how their government controlled media will spin everything as a positive as their country implodes.
He is also spot on about there being a difference between pride and prideful.
Speaking of said media spins…not hearing much from or out of Iran lately.
Word has it that the head of the Iranian Ministry of Truth recently received an airborne gift “courtesy of the red, white and blue.”
Khamenei’s funeral begins tomorrow.
His body or what left of it has been on ice since he was zapped
6 days, 5 cities, 2 countries.
His successor Mojataba has not been seen in public since March. Will he even make an appearance?

The corrupt globalist librats, have systematically ruined my country. It is with purpose and intent, masked by hatred of the native population. .
There are millions upon millions of 3rd world immigrants now inside our country, and they are not leaving. This filthy backstab by the libs is working as planned.
It has put tremendous strain on housing, education, healthcare, and about any category you can think of. We are now an occupied country in my opinion.
The 3rd worlders are already outbreeding us. Even in my small city, we are overwhelmed with these invaders. Within the next 10 years or less, the Canadian born and bred people, will be outnumbered.
The native population suffers, everyone, including me, has had to downsize, tighten the belts and try to make things work, financially. We are nothing but slaves at this point. Taxed beyond reason. This BS is ALL intentional, and it makes my dang blood boil. Whilst the invaders are subsidized by our tax dollars beyond comprehension, you can clearly see, the invaders arent poor. We are! The nomal middle class workers….
You know, I see comments all the time about my country. People assume we voted for this. People say we have been disarmed. People say we are ignorant. You name it, Ive read it. And is it disgusting and far from reality.
Our elections were stolen. Just like all the elections in the Western democracys in recent memory. Just like 2020 in the US. That is blatantly obvious. I do not know 1 single person in my life, who voted for the lowlife, gender bending, globalist, filthy left. Not one! The majority DID NOT vote for this insanity. The globalists stole it. Period.
We are not disarmed either. Castro Jr outlawed the use, ( for any reason, including home protection ) purchase or transfers, of a pile of firearms, and that was it. Then the clowshow librats tried to have a buyback, gun amnesty, or whatever retarded name they gave this program and it has failed, spectacularly. Less than 100,000 firearms were turned in. The rest of the people refused.
As far as ignorance, most Canadians would give you the shirt off our backs, or offer assistance to anyone who needed it. It is only the hardcore far left morons who are ignorant. These Communist s**tbags have taken over our education. Our airwaves. Our internet. Our social fabric. They come for our children and grand children with their disgusting grooming tactics. The far left is the loudest voice, because they have infiltrated the main pillars of power. Our culture is dying, because the Communists wish it so.
Im not sure where all this is heading, but dont ever think a majority voted for this, because we didnt. There are a lot more patriots, than there are blue haired, nose ringed, gender bending leftard filth. There are a good number of us, like myself, who love President Trump, and all of you who voted for him, and believe me when I say, we all wish we had someone like him.
Instead, we have been hijacked by the same forces that have hijacked the US in 2020, the entirety of the EU, and perhaps before that, with Teh One being elected.
The world is under seige by Communists and corrupt, unelected bureacrats.
As I say, I dont know how this period in history ends up, but at some point, unless very good men and women, do very bad things ( rightfully ), we are in for a rough ride. I fully expect things to get much worse, before they ever get better. I might not live to see it, but I sincerely hope, that the real patriots, worldwide, stand up, and fix this mess.
A series of unfortunate events.
A series of unforced and self-induced errors.
Those pretentious glasses!! I just can’t.
The way the fella kept pursing his lips, too.
He was so obviously sure that our Ambassador was slow, and that any lack of understanding was on Hoekstra’s side.
I am half Canadian. I lived for 5 years in NFLD and brought me home a Newfie wife. I am telling all my Canadian family to save what you can and hope they can weather the storm. I can’t tell you how many people including family think I am nuts. I hate it that this is going to hurt them badly and most of them can’t see it. Trump is the devil to them, lol. Some of my family back in Canada get it and hate Carney and love Trump and would love to become the 51st state.
canada 51st state, very bad idea. 2 dem senators and all the stuck up french. US should drop to 49 states and eject Kali. The USA would be reborn and achieve heights unthinkable after slicing off that tumour.
Cali would have to take NY, NJ, MA, RI, VT, OR, WA and MN with it. They are just as misguided.
Humans who pretend they are G-d.
No on getting rid of Kali.
First and foremost we do not surrender territory to anyone, especially commies.
Secondly, California is a red state, it is not the problem, the machines and a fraudulent electoral system is the problem. They have to run on 17% illegal ballots just to maintain power.
Finally, would you really like to see two new PLAN bases in San Diego and Oakland and Twenty-Nine Palms hosting the PLA?
Actual American in CA might be red, but the illegal invaders have ruined the math.
This is the 17% illegal ballots that I refer to. Stop the steal, and it all changes.
Then REMOVE THEM by any means necessary. You and I both know what needs to be done. If the Dams and RINOS steal the midterms then I believe either President Trump will do it or WE THE PEOPLE will.
It’s do or die and I don’t want to die but I’ll be damned if I’m going to watch these elite pols destroy our Constitutional Republic. I
It’s not about me…..it’s about my children and grandchildren. That’s why the Founders did what they did and they were brave as hell to do it. God Bless every one of them or all of us wouldn’t be here.
Is your state doing illegal alien removals? How many flights per week?
This is a Federal mess, created and cultivated by 535 members of House and Senate. This was done to California, not by California.
California JUDGES did a lot of it overruling the will of the voters.
We could trade Minnesota for Alberta, just sayin’
Yes. Get Gloria Aldrich on the phone. Hollywood divorce for Kali. Grounds: Abusive relationship.
I agree about Commiefornia with a caveat, eject the lower 2/3’s, but make the 50th state “The Great State of Jefferson”. Cleave off the relatively sane portions of Cali and Oregon and make a functioning state. Sacramento and Salem don’t function, they grift. Talk about taxation without representation…geesh.
Just my 2 c.
Canada is such a beautiful Country, but once again, it shows you how Liberals can destroy anything.
Liberals destroy everything they touch. Cities, academia, news media, healthcare, religion, K-12 education, government, law enforcement, everything they touch.
Slavery
Where in NFLD?
Newfoundland
Newfoundland?? I’m assuming.
Sorry, I thought you wrote : What is NFLD?, where’s my glasses??
Don’t feel bad…when he said the thing about “Newfie” and wife, I thought he was referring to the famous and huge lovable canine water rescue breed..

You were a lucky man to live on that glorious ROCK! Never been there but follow a guy who does and hikes all over it as well as Labrador, etc. I hope they take your sage advice most seriously. This won’t be just a cold winter, b’y!
I have close family in Canada too.
It’ll be tight, but they’re welcome to camp out on our living room floor.
It’ll be like when relatives escaped communist Cuba, left everything behind. You’d think they’d be prepared, but they don’t seem to be.
You might think someone in Canada would read this and come to a realization that the prior agreement was a means to an end, and the end is approaching. It is too bad about Carney, the Canadian people deserve better than a WEF fraud.
And so do MAGA Americans in Massachusetts!
Yes, the failing state to the south. NH is completely surrounded and always outnumbered, but never outgunned!
The Peoples Republic of MA.
Home. Not far from the protest zones on the Boston Common. Shameful, 250 years of degeneration.
Keep your powder dry!
We do have some great Canadians like Dexter and I know several longtime lurkers. They just can’t reach the right people with samizdat.
Ego is a very untasty dish. Politicians hate having to eat it. The only fear I have is that Canaduh will become a chinese province.
I have to believe Trump and his team has games this out. We will not have a Chinese province directly on our northern border, although it doesn’t seem so far fetched as it stands right now.
Canada has allowed Chines police stations in their country!
So has the USA.
We’ve got illegals, mooslims and cartels in some USA police departments.
Addressing the Mexican cartels threat to American law enforcement https://share.google/jBgoaZ25l1v280tnh
Canada may react by inviting the PRC to flood with soldiers in their suicidal haste to “oppose Trump.” They have already shown their minds are completely closed to reality, so they may attempt this, despite this being unlikely to come to fruition due to our reaction…
Pretty sure Trump let Xi know that the western hemisphere is off limits during his visit. The complete domination of US military equipment over Chinese in Venezuela and Iran, would be another good reason not to.
Canada’s military is so depleted in numbers that Carney is giving a fast track immigration pass to any asylum or immigration seeker if they accept to join the military shortly after their arrival in Canada.
Yes, and I read an article somewhere, that described how this program has made them even less mission capable, no English proficiency and cultural exacerbations that has led to an epidemic of fights.
Insanity! Who will they be ‘protecting’?
And pride is the deadliest sin.
Amen!
“Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity”
“The whole dilemma with ego is that without personal humility, you step on the scale, look in the mirror, and are always short of your goal.”

Great quotes… thanks. “without personal humility”… self-examination.
Hoekstra is great. I love his interviews.
After listening to him read the percentages of how much of a given market Canada exports to the US, all I could think was Canada is so screwed.
Make Vermont Maple Syrup great again.
We do import a lot of great, three band member, music from Canada (Rush and Triumph).
T
Rush did add a fourth member for their current tour.
They had to get a new drummer because of Neil Peart’s passing, if I recall correctly, so there will now have been four members of Rush in total, but they’re still a three-man band.
They have onboarded a keyboard player to give Geddy Lee breaks from tickling the ivories so he can concentrate more on the bass.
Yes, he has the right demeanor for where he needs to be (and a thankless job). Slay the sacred cow, delicately, but with candor. One can see the machinations in ihis head as he makes decisions on the words used.
Halal slaughter for that cow.
That’s becoming universal in Canada. Just like Australia.
He was polite and gracious. Respectful.
This is why I always read in the grocery store where an item is made, and if it is Canada ,I look for a different same item, not from Canada. I shop at Winco, and a lot of their Winco branded items are that way,I tried their Fz lasagna once and it was crap, runny,no meat,no taste,no more Canadian crap for med, more so now.
All I could think was how Canada’s government has screwed the Canadians.
And will keep doing so until forced to stop.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Carney evidently failed to read, and believe, this. Now Canada gets to live it.
The hardest lessons in life are the ones that you learn by living through them. But you never forget them. They make you BETTER, or BITTER. Your choice.
I had the pleasure of meeting Pete Hoestra at an event in mid Michigan while he was chair of the MIGOP. Smart, kind, no-nonsense man.
There are a lot of people from west Michigan like him. Lots of TRUMP signs stayed up through the interregnum, in spite of Dem electoral fraud that took over the state legislature. Note, Ric Grenell is from Jenison in west Michigan too.
The catnip is strong with this one, Sundance, but in the interest of US-Canadian relations, I am going to refrain from piling onto these two pompous buffoons who are circling the toilet bowl of irredeemable relevance awaiting a final flush…! 🙂
They used to say when the US sneezes, Canada comes down with double pneumonia.
I remember the saying as ‘When the USA sneezes, Canada coughs’.
Canadians are definitely not Americans. That’s why we should watch their problems like we watch any incompetent third world country. It is sad but you can’t help those that won’t help themselves. I am not optimistic but if Alberta and Saskatchewan become independent we should look to help them out.
Actually, if you look at a LOT of Canadian actors, their bios used to begin with “John/Jane Smith is an AMERICAN actor…” Canadians like to be “Americans” when it suits their purposes, and technically, as residents of the American hemisphere, they are!!! 🙂
At the end of the day it is going to boil down to this very simple take: Who exactly is going to miss who? I guess many Canucks are going to have to spend their winters in freezing cold Canada from now on instead of the warm USA. Well, they could go to Mexico and get gunned down by the cartels.
They won’t be able to afford going to Mexico to get gunned down.
The psychology of excessive pride, often termed hubris, reveals a paradox: while intended to elevate the self, it systematically dismantles the hater’s relationships, decision-making capabilities, and mental well-being.
Hubris backfires primarily because it distorts reality and disables the individual’s ability to learn. This phenomenon, sometimes formalized as Hubris Syndrome, often emerges after a period of success or the acquisition of power.
Psychologically, hatred is often a reaction to inner pain rather than an external threat. It functions as a distraction from unresolved trauma, insecurity, and self-loathing.
Leadership in Canada is their own worst enemy.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Potential backstop for Carney: US traitors.
Dems steal/R’s forfeit midterms. House impeaches Trump. Senate *convicts* – all the known/suspected Rino’s plus D’s reach supermajority threshold.
100% Positive Trump does NOT have 34 Senators loyal to him or MAGA. And lame duck last two years they don’t fear him.
That’s a more plausible than not scenario. And only the fear of 34 Senators that the voters will string them up from tall timber in their districts stands in the way.
What is out there that we can do to make them fear their voters?
And this scenario isn’t the only one. Judges already have demonstrated – and gotten away with – usurping executive powers. Tying up the legality of the judicial overreaches for two years in the courts without setting precedent with ruling is easy-peasy.
Not meaning to be a turd in the punchbowl, but, these are very real scenarios, since Sundance is laying out potential scenarios. Not all of them turn out so fairy tale-ish. Just sayin’.
“What is out there that we can do to make them fear their voters?”
Another J6, this time with millions; we have the numbers, and if every MAGA patriot within a day’s drive of DC showed up and just said NO! ENOUGH!, change would happen quickly. No guns or ropes needed. Remember, these people have no spine.
Your analysis may well be realistic. I would point out, however, that your Senator count assumes that there are 100 Senators still alive and in attendance at the Capitol when the vote is taken. Is that a safe assumption?
Last February I visited some friends in South Africa and one friend told me that China had 25% of the automobile market locked up there.
Quite a few auto makers had closed their plants already.
Fast forward to today and that same friend is here visiting the US for work.
He recently told me last week that China now has 65% of the market in SA.
It’s only a matter of time he said until they own the whole market there.
That’s a country that Toyota and Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes all owned at one time.
He also said that every factory is Chinese now there except for the few automakers holding on.
The cars are very cheap.
He said a SA can buy one of those crap cars for around 15000 dollars but if the car breaks down the Chinese are the only ones that can fix them.
Canada is about to find out a very hard lesson that the US is a very wonderful country with a very forgiving people.
China, not so much.
Being a Canadian is embarrassing. Less about “prideful” and more about the volume of low IQ. I was just discussing the level of arrogance here. Another ex. Brady Tkachuk follows his brother out of this God-forsaken failing Country and instead of it becoming a teaching moment for Ottawa and the NHL, they instead do this:
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/article/sens-hold-promotion-inviting-fans-to-exchange-tkachuk-jerseys/
Unfortunately the US is dealing with spiteful, immature bitter Children.
Sad, but the concept of reap and sow is universal.
They actually believe they hold the cards. Like the US is going to go broke because they are boycotting the USA. It’s laughable. They claim to have boycotted FL last winter. I didn’t notice. None of us Floridians did.
It’s a population of 41 million people. Florida alone has half that. Hoekstra is basically calling them a bunch of foot stomping children and they’re oblivious. With these smirks on their faces no less.
He’s being diplomatic by saying we love Canada and they see that as him begging for Canadian business. He’s giving them enough rope and they don’t even know it!
Agreed about the alleged Florida boycott. I live in Sarasota County and there was no shortage of snowbirds last season. I didn’t think to do a proportionality check comparing Canadian and U.S. snowbirds but there was no obvious shortage of Canucks. And they brought their credit cards and checkbooks and supported our tourist/hospitality people at a normal level.
Same here in Dunedin, the spring training home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Streets as busy as usual.
No shortage of Canadians who love America here in Florida.
looks like PH repeats several times that the U.S. buys 93% of Canadian Spirits, while Canada blocks the sale of U.S. spirits into Canada. The interviewers just don’t get it. PH plays the empathy card – how would you feel if you were us? Blank stares. PH repeats the figures. Gets back a few nods. The Canadian guy just can’t see it.
It’s like the scene from Monty Python’s The Holy Grail. The 2 guards stand at the castle entryway while a sword-wielding Knight charges. Both guards stand and nod. The Knight charges. One guard smiles and nods. The Knight charges. Smiling, nodding guards until the Knight is there lopping off heads.
Canada is in trouble.
“Heeyyyyyy!”
Canadian pride.
“Pride goeth before the fall.”
ELBOWS UP, JC! Patches over worn material and all, eh!
All Hat and No Cattle. I am buying long on Knee-pads for export to Soon to be VERY NEEDY Consumers in northern North America.
Canadians should do themselves a solid and fight their own Revolutionary War against the Crown. The fighting would be over in a blink, and even THEIR military could handle a hollowed out British Army/Navy. They would, however, have to suffer the wounds and losses from thousands of paper cuts
Poor old Mike Meyers has lost me on his Dr Evil regurgitation’s for Verizon spots at the World Cup, though the Robert Wagner stand-in made me nostalgic. Mike no longer has cache South of the Border! 🙂
OK, so where are the Chinese gonna sell their locally manufactured EVs?
In Canada? A market too small. A country too cold. No charging infrastructure. Outside urban centers, the people really love large trucks, real trucks (not cyber).
I think that after a notice of withdrawal is issued by the US President, there will be negotiations between Canada and the US and a bilateral agreement will be signed.
Selling the battery electric vehicles is secondary to the primary goal, exploiting the carbon credits for having manufactured them.
Getting some more money for the cars is just icing on the cake. Those are sold cheaply as they are heavily subsidized by other people’s money as the case with all the “green” mandates in the EU and elsewhere.
True, but it still does not address the problems of cold weather and lack of infrastructure.
Only 4% of vehicles in Canada are currently EV, and there are less than 10,000 charging stations, less than 1,500 are quick charge.. Those are mostly located in urban and suburban areas.
In winter, the warmest areas of Canada are generally colder than the coldest areas in the lower 48. EVs are good when you have short commutes, but there is an awful lot of empty in Canada.
All of those are inconvenient facts for the industry, but that is not the manufacturer’s problem once the car leaves the factory and is sold.
Not that control freaks see any downside with limiting travel options even more outside of urban areas.
Those plans are likely on hold. The circumstances have changed rapidly.
China will stay with Chinese production and export for now.
Optimism is best John. Let us pray this comes down to hurt feelings, pick oneself up by the bootstraps, and go along to get along. Cause President Trump is going to win. The only thing is by how much and how big!
China may think they are coming in,,, BUT Trumps big stick in this hemisphere will rear its beautiful head! Interesting times. 😎
I don’t think there will be a bilateral agreement with Canada. I see them going all in on stupid. I gave up on people seeing the truth staring right at them. I gave a guy a chance at a sweet heart deal and he turned it down. I was accused of cheating him. Several years later he asked if the deal was still on the table. You just can’t help some people.
Expect anchor babies.
The more Canadians talk the less I feel like tolerating them. Know your role ya big dummies.
Soft men make for hard times. Canada about to get a life lesson.
Professor Sundance is not only a brilliant, indepth thinker, he is also a graphic and illustrative writer.
Wow. Your (SD) unequivocal credibility and comprehensive understanding of the economic reality that awaits Canada combine to clearly describe the certainty of a disasterous outcome.
My empathy embraces the good people in Canada who will suffer greatly from the dire consequences of failed national leadership.
Same as MG Rover in the UK twenty years ago. The deal went sour, but only after China had got what they wanted, access to the automotive technology which ended up in military vehicles and models competing for the Western market.
I’m just wondering about the wisdom a strategy that further embeds and entrenches Chinese influence on America’s Northern border. Is having a larger version of NZ as a neighbour really aligning with the recent DoW future National Defence Strategy.
At least they will have some Molson to drown their sorrows (but not any Kentucky Bourbon) 😆
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
“Make CANADA Great Again?”
Centuries ago, you were “great.” You had your own industries, and you employed your own workers (of course) to supply them.
“Where the f&ck did you go?”
You all now look at “China” as though your only remaining alternative was to roll over and [play] be(!) dead!
YEP!!! 🙂
Being in Canada, I’m not worried about some temporary collapse or decade-long recession.
Actually, it would be another decade, as Canada has just gone through a decade of recession; the figures were rigged by the Liberals, so Canada looked just above a recession.
Now, suppose the trade stuff causes a Canadian depression. It could actually be beneficial for Canadians because the political structure will collapse, creating an opportunity to build better politics and government.
Aligning with China and Eurosocialists is not just a casual economic malaise, but you do you.
Ok, so PDJT puts tariffs on all countries. Only China and Canada then put tariffs on the US. Canada then removes US Products from the shelves!! I was there last July and August. I saw the BC liquor stores. And they don’t really grasp the idea that this administration is not going to allow them to have a $60 billion trade surplus with us, the largest economy and the largest consumer market in the world!! They still really think they can get a “good deal” for Canada!!! Holy crap, you have the best deal in the world and it takes advantage of us and we are done with that. Canada had their chance to cut a deal a long time ago and blew it all up so they could walk around and say elbows up!! Put our GD products back in your stores, STFU, and walk nicely to the table and we will see if we can fit you in!!! Sheesh, how dumb can they be? Oh, and did you see Canada playing WC soccer in Los Angeles a few days ago?? Stadium full of Canadian fans!! Thought they hated us and were selling their condos and staying home. Yeah, saw how that went.
What is the best way to short the Canadian dollar?
Call George Soros! 🙂
In Theory Sell near or in the money Call options on their currency and buy them back at a lower price. Options in theory are suppose to be covered by having the actual currency value of the option on hand. Many take the risk of selling uncovered options but you may take a major loss if their currency goes up in vale vs the USD. I am not a currency or option expert so you should do your own research and Sundance may give us some ideas in the future. His ideas on PLTR sure did benefit many people.

So, will Trump make a play for Alberta? If so, will other western provinces join in, wrecking China’s prize?
Sundance, et.al, how big of a factor that Canada is supplying electricity to some parts of the country? I seem to recall them threatening to cut the power over the tariffs or somesuch.
Also, do you think it’s a threat to our national security in the long run that China is essentially going to take over Canada in many ways,?
Is China the bargaining chip? It is hard to believe that Carney’s team has gamed out nothing.
Simple issue. Canadians have nowhere else to sell that electricity. If they don’t sell to us, they simply lose 100% of that money. We fire up some new plants and pay 15% more. Oh well
The thing that sucks is that there are plenty of sane Canadians getting boffed by the bozos east of Manitoba. Check out the Quick Dick McDick YouTube channel. It’s good sht and they don’t like it anymore that those of us on this site. Those passive-aggressive political picks are tanking the country and the sycophantic virtue signalers are embracing their suicidal empathy.
Rebel Media is always terrific..
I’m going to play with your offer. Made some notes with a timeline and some milestones. I will engage in some friendly wagering with an acquaintance who fancies himself an armchair economist. He has a habit of relying heavily on the weekend finance shows on the legacy TV networks. He does brag about his subcription to WSJ, though.
Thanks for that video link. Would seem a sacred cow or two was slain.
I love this Guy!! I feel so secure knowing he’s in charge. He’s so down to earth.
When I was five, my older sister, who was seventeen, would give me a five dollar bill as a Christmas present.
I, in turn, gave her a dollar for Christmas.
That went on for a couple of years until my sister stopped giving me that five dollar bill because she said our five for one deal was no longer fair now that I was getting an allowance.
But I wanted to continue our arrangement and I got really mad at her for renegotiating what I thought was a great trade agreement.
The Canadian government reminds me a lot of the seven year old me!
On many of the recent Canadian posts, I’ve said many Canadians have both $CAD & $USD designated bank accounts, particularly Canadians snowbirds who winter in USA, particularly Florida. I read that most Canadians live 100 miles from the border. Inflation was 3.2%. It will continue to rise a lot. Might it become hyperinflation? They might have to cross the border and shop in USA to survive.
Capital is exiting Canada now and will continue to do so. I would not be surprised if they/Bank-of-Canada Carney institutes capital controls, too late.
Their economy is tanking now. It will become terrible. Here is an excerpt from the linked article, which has even more dire info, and USA hasn’t even withdrawn from CUSMA yet.
FTA: What makes Canada particularly vulnerable is that inflation is rising while economic growth remains weak. Canada has already slipped into a technical recession, household debt remains among the highest in the developed world, and housing affordability has become a national crisis. Citizens are struggling with food, energy, insurance, housing, and taxes, yet government spending continues to expand. The political class always assumes it can spend endlessly without consequence. Eventually, the bill arrives.
I have warned that Canada faces a much larger structural problem than inflation alone. The country has become excessively dependent on government spending, real estate, and debt expansion. Investment has been declining while capital continues flowing south into the United States. When governments begin relying on debt growth to maintain living standards, they enter the same dangerous cycle that has destroyed countless nations throughout history. Debt can create the illusion of prosperity, but it cannot create real wealth.

What’s the Canada investment play for someone holding US dollars? I cannot imagine ski chateaus in Whistler will become reasonable; that would be my first choice.
Short the Canadian dollar?
Short Canadian maple syrup ;o)
You might want to buy Silver and precious metals such as Maple Leaf 999 one ounce coins using current value Canadian currency. You will always be able to sell those Maples at current world silver or Gold value. As long as you feel that precious metals will not lose value this is a win position. Physical precious metal YOU hold. Paper options on metals your bank and broker control.
Yep, If I don’t hold the metal in my hands, I don’t have it at all…
From what I’m seeing, A lot think they have 10 years and Trump will be gone by then. Tic Toc
Does the U.S. really want Canada under the control of China?
Of corse not!
So what’s your FEASIBLE solution to stop it?
Once again Sundance is spot on. A story to share but I must de-identify some of the story. Returning from Europe/UK were at flight level 350 crossing 30 west over the Atlantic Ocean ~ 50 north . A flight attendant coded the flight deck and was allowed to enter. I was told we had the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Mr. Carney on board as well other government officials.
Often during those days I would have a book with me for my layovers. On this flight I had with me the book, When Money Dies by Adam Fergusson. A story of the potentially dire consequences when central banks print too much money. The nightmare of deficit spending, devaluation, and hyperinflation in Weimar Germany. We had just come through the Great Financial Crisis of 2007-08-09 and my book was apropos. The book was retrieved from my luggage and I asked the flight attendant if she would have Mr. Carney signed my book. Not only did he sign my book but wrote an entire page on why the central bank would never allow this to happen in Canada. Well, sad to say our money is dying in Canada. The Food Professor in your video should know this but he calls it “food inflation.” Canadians just don’t get it. On the ‘pride’ topic, recall and make no mistake that ‘pride’ leads to downfall and dishonour. Many Canadians believe Mr. Carney walks on water but we have yet to see any water turned into wine. Attention Canadians, be very careful what you wish for.
“I’m glad I won’t be around to see my country rot”, lamented Mario Lemieux.
Adding Canada to the US would be like wishing for another NY or California. Insane.
Better as a territory without official voting in D.C. Of course, the D’s would immediately seat them just like with Puerto Rico, so maybe not as good as I first thought…
I understand the play, but not why we want that as a nation. More Chinese involvement in anything in this hemisphere would seem to be a disaster. I don’t want them north of our border.
I think you have it about right, Sundance. And, as a Canadian, I am beyond angry that Carney was willing to goad Trump for political ends.
The one thing which you do not mention is that there will be a vote in Alberta, source of most of the Canadian exports to the US by value, on whether or not to have a subsequent vote on Alberta Independence. That vote is in October. At the moment pro-Independence sentiment seems to be hovering around 35-40% in Alberta. If Canada walks into this Trumpian chainsaw I expect a lot of fence sitters will realize that Canada is hooped. Man the lifeboats.
Trump knows this.
