There is a certain irony in the timing all things considered. President Trump has given the EU until July 4, 2026, to fulfill the trade agreement previously negotiated (ie. the Turnberry Agreement) or 25% tariffs on EU automobiles will be triggered.
(Via Truth Social) – “I had a great call with The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. We discussed many topics, including that we are completely united that Iran can never have a Nuclear Weapon. We agreed that a regime that kills its own people cannot control a bomb that can kill millions. I’ve been waiting patiently for the EU to fulfill their side of the Historic Trade Deal we agreed in Turnberry, Scotland, the largest Trade Deal, ever! A promise was made that the EU would deliver their side of the Deal and, as per Agreement, cut their Tariffs to ZERO! I agreed to give her until our Country’s 250th Birthday or, unfortunately, their Tariffs would immediately jump to much higher levels. Thank you for your attention to this matter.” ~ President DONALD J. TRUMP
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer recently spoke directly about what was creating this problem. His interview and explanation in detail is below (MUST WATCH):

7/4/2026 … Outstanding Mr. President !
Turning the screws, and picking such an conspicuously important holiday.
Europe has always resented us for a host of reasons, least of which was for upsetting the Old Order by declaring that our rights originated with our Creator and not from governments formed by Men.
Talking about tariffs, this doesn’t sound good.

Never ends.
Yep
IKR
It’s odd that tariffs are the only taxes Democrats don’t like.
Anything that helps America is anathema to them.
about to say much the same thing. They want NWO, not a nation that can depend on itself and tariffs support that effort.

Sundance nails it.
Yes they are focused on next steps alright…. Next step to find a way to suckle on the US economy… BTW… if we are supplying our own oil at a glowbull market price why are our prices so high..? Could it be we are subsidizing the EU fuel cost… I’m sick of being the worlds money tree..
Speaks much of one’s character in consuming other’s wealth instead of learning how to cultivate their own.
PDJT better fix the price of gas before the mid-terms or he may get crushed. It was over $5.50 a gallon in St, Petersburg Fl today and will probably keep going up after the fighting continued in Iran today.
What fighting? Also, would you prefer to have $7 a gallon if DJT didn’t initiate his economic policies? Have some patience.
Many of us more aware of the bigger picture, long game of Trump are patient, including with fuel prices. Nevertheless, optics are still important, especially pertaining to those who are not so aware, who just look their fuel prices at the pump and draw conclusions on the basis of that.
It’s only a problem because entitled Americans can’t understand that some sacrifice is necessary to ensure a future for our children and their children to come.
Here is one issue….we were stretched tight during Biden’s years…but there are many who live on tight budgets and are literally stretched to the limit now.
And those who live on SS are not rolling in cash. And the increases given, were taken away by Medicare and inflation.
I will tell you who is doing ok….and that is the union workers, who in IL vote for politicians that will raise taxes, to cover pension liabilities.
So many aspects in so many different places.
My last thought is that today, given all the fraud that has been uncovered…I think Americans have a right to feel entitled especially when Somali fraudsters are driving Mercedes and others are driving an econo car.
Why would people on SS be having a big impact from gas prices?
If they’re retired, where are they driving to?
I’m on SS and I can go two weeks without driving anywhere if gas prices were a problem.
I’ve been retired for seven years, and I travel far more now than I did when working. The closest gym is 18 miles away and I go three times a week. My grandkids are 25 miles distant, and where bulk shopping is, and I go at least once a week.
As a retiree, I have more work than I ever did, my Dad warned me, and at 29 mpg, I still have to fill up weekly.
I can’t imagine what you are doing, or more specifically what you’re not doing to make gas prices a non-issue for you.
If gas is costing you that much, use the money you’re spending on gas to buy a set of weights and work out at home.
Do you have to change your grandkids diapers everyday?
You go bulk shopping once a week?
That might explain why you have to go to the gym three times a week.
Ummm…health issues? If your health “loses robustness” with additional years, let us know if your driving habits change.
Also, nothing against being judgmental, but you might want to give some thought to the meaning of “inappropriate” when it comes to venues for expressing it. CTH’s focus is Constitutional politics. In my judgment, let’s keep it that way.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
All valid points but at the end of the day hard times call for sacrifice whether we want it or not. I’m on a fixed income as a retired army guy but I’ve always thought of the grasshopper and ant parable. I’ve spent a lot of my free time preparing for the storm and fortunate to have the means to do so. I see a whole lot of grasshoppers consuming away without any thought towards “what if the crops disappear?” I listened to people all evening bitching about gas prices but then turn right around and talk about all their happy fun times they have planned for the summer to come without any thought about that money they will spend doing it. Pure hypocrisy. POTUS is damned if he does and damned if he don’t because the fair weather conservatives will only care about their bottom line when the piper comes calling.
Btw Ive always loved your comments Aggiegirl and do understand your frustration. Believe me I hate paying at the pump right now but the strategy behind the moves VSGPDTJ is making makes a whole lot of sense to me and I got a feeling in the end he will come out on top for the American People.
People don’t understand that the Oil market and gas prices are as fake and fraudulent as the real estate market.
A manager as a gas station calls two of the nearest gas station to see what their prices per gallon is and they set it accordingly.
If a gas station buys 10.000 gallons at $3.00 a gallon and gas goes up to $4.00+ the next day do people think they sell their previous 10.000 gallons at $300 ?
FYI our SS was solely impacted by millions, if not more, individuals who under the Obama and Biden years where not qualified to to receive it, DOGE uncovered it and it is being cleaned up. This also includes fraudulent Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and WIC benefits. Put the real blame where it belongs.
Put the real blame where it belongs.
Uh bill clinton for 50 Alex?
One thing that really stuck with me as I started thinking about retirement & had many senior clients … How critical it was to put an inflation cushion in the income projections (I use 3%), AND how critically important it was to have a separate Medicare kitty in a separate acct, just for premiums, co-pays, drugs, & deductibles.
Retirement advisors have said a minimum of $75,000 for each senior, just for medical.
SS has had great calculators on its website for 30 years. I always used them.
And politicians and and the judiciary get suitcases full of cash from the dope industry run by China in the U.S.
I concur! It seems that some don’t grasp what some of us are faced with. Limited income for some, is far more limited than the same for others. Sometimes we don’t have choices.
Amen to that.
we need to understand the choice is higher gas (we lack refineries) OR nuclear elimination of our children, family, friends and western civilization by these religious fanatics who love their death cult
Premium or regular? Last week in Port St. Lucie it was just over 4 dollars a gallon.
My IL ‘hood is 4.95.9 now down a whole 4 cents a gallon….
I bought premium, 1 1/2 gallons for the lawn mower…freaking Honda mower says to use premium….6 bucks a gallon.
And we are approaching vacation time and many people travel by car, they will not be happy.
The other thought, the Treehouse “rally queen”….heard Trump distinctly say that he would have energy costs cut in half…I believe the time frame referenced was a “year”….(am old and memory sometimes not good, just in case am off)…
Which leads me to the protests in Iran…were there alphabet agencies encouraging the protests, leading to this current situation? I do know their economy was very bad…but knowing they couldn’t pull another pandemic….? And just when things were getting better?
Gibbs Rule #39–There is no such thing as coincidence.
North Carolina Mountains price is less than $4 a gallon with $3.50-$3.75 available at shopping clubs. Seniors don’t need exercise gyms to exercise. Try walking –better yet get a Rescue dog and it will give you plenty of walking and fetch exercise.
$3.89 this morning in Austin.
Where did you get that price, full service 93 on the beach or at a marina?
Just drove across the state never seen those numbers.
Carry on.
Our oil is mainly light crude, but our refineries are designed mainly for heavy crude oil, which we import from Saudi Arabia. The present circumstances in the Strait of Hormuz are the cause of our fuel prices; however, a new refinery designed to refine light crude is under construction in Brownsville, Texas.
Lotsa heavy crude coming from Venezuela currently. Our global oil companies are just using what the price will bear strategy.
We also refine ALL OF Mexico’s somewhat sour/heavy crude (though its not nearly as bad as Venezuela).
Their regular PEMEX refineries are so poorly constructed & maintained that they can only refine MX oil into machine lubricants (of which they export a lot), but no gasoline or jet fuel.
Their “new refinery” in Tabasco is a year+ late in finishing, 100%+ cost overruns, failed all environmental standards, and the initial distillate tests are not looking good.
Madame Presidenta should remember that should we refuse to refine their oil into gas, MX would shut down in 10 days.
Check your local and state gov too
Delay and pray to their deep state idols fate will flip the USA once again into their cash cow.
As USTR Greer mentioned, they’ve had a long time to deal with this, and they’ve put in a lot of language that still needs to be negotiated. Makes you think the EU is slow-walking this thing.
Dithering as such snobs can be in thinking they could succeed.
The economic adjustments will continue until trade balances improve.
It’s because they are terrified of their people. Taking our money and flooding their nations with illegals was tolerated because it was business as usual because the gravy train was running hard keeping things afloat. Now the money is drying up and a whole lot of pissed off ethnic Europeans are about to wake up to the reality their “leaders” have put them in.
They were never quick to begin with, Brussels (the EU) is a bureaucratic hellhole where the interests of 27 member states are represented (supposedly) and is not as unified as they pretend it is.
I see an occasional Rivian’s on the road, and more Tesla’s….
Buy American made cars.
I say buy cars that are not screwing the American taxpayer………………….
EVs are heavily subsidized by hardworking American taxpayers – most of us who cannot even afford a Tesla.
Many Teslas still on the road enjoy free electricity incentive at Tesla charging stations, subsidized by hardworking taxpayers.
EV owners pay no highway tax or impact fees built into gasoline and diesel taxes at the pump.
Gas and diesel car owners are assessed vehicle and fuel fees at state and local levels to subsidize the EV industry.
EV owners are not subject to regulatory environmental fees built into the bulk fuel used to generate their electrical power.
EV manufactures are not assessed any environmental impact fees for the costly disposal of their massive LIon batteries
EV manufacturing plants and LIon battery plants are heavily subsidized by hardworking America taxpayers and are most foreign owned using foreign raw materials
<<“EV owners pay no highway tax or impact fees”
Maybe not federal, but here they pay $50/year with an option to pay $0.008 / mile.
Greer was/is impressive.
EU made promises last year that they had no intention of complying with, while at the same time expecting the U.S. to live up to our promises to the letter, and immediately at that. President Trump is now calling them on their deceit. He has given them one chance to fulfill their end of the bargain. When they don’t and he imposes those tariffs, they are not going to be able to get out from under those tariffs without putting more on the table, along with evidence that they actually intend to comply. PT knows what he is doing and they don’t.
PT is ratcheting up the pressure and consequences, while they are somehow deluded that they can win if they keep playing games. I suspect none of them have enough business experience to see what is coming their way if they keep playing those games.
It’s been a well kept secret that a much younger Ursula von der Leyen was in a famous music video from the 1980s…
Der Kommissar…
Did someone in the eee uuu read the proverbial local tea leaves?
( hint?
GB voting today has the ‘reform’ party winning some elections as people tire of illegal immigration. double standards regarding laws etc.
i.e. some awakening to truths occurring? )
I do not know
People know…
Once you see the Euro-Technocrats without their clothes, you can no longer unsee their naked irrelevance to any meaningful human intercourse in these times.
Ursula is a failed German politician with no portfolio or country, a barker with no bite, a failed applicant for NATO Secretary (and THAT is saying something), living her best life as a mouth-breathing recipient of Euro-Welfare.
The excesses of the Palace at Versailles under Louis XXX had NOTHING over these contemporary carpet baggers and scalawags with million Euro per diem accounts to sustain them.
Independence Day is Coming for our Great American Experience. We may experience a hiccup or two along the way, but we will also jettison A LOT of EXCESS BAGGAGE that has cause some sidetracks, speed bumps, unneeded hitchhikers and travelers, and wholly unnecessary expenditures in our journey to fulfill our special and distinctive destiny under God’s Creation.
Iran is more honest than the EU. And Iran is nowhere near honest.
I may be looking at this wrong, but President Trump is giving the EU and Iran too much slack. The EU has had more than enough time to get their act together and giving them another two and a half months is not going to do anything constructive. As for Iran, it should be unconditional surrender, zero negotiations, or total destruction. I don`t know, maybe President Trump is hoping that the new firearms and ammunition that the Iranian People are going to get or have already received, will inspire them to kill off their tormentors, and take their country back. The brave ones that would have done that, have already been killed. The ones that are left are not going to do anything even with firearms. The railroads and bridges should be bombed now. If no compliance with the unconditional surrender, the power plants next. This war cannot continue to drag on, or the Republican Party and President Trump will come out on the losing end of the midterm elections, and God forbid, the rabid Democrat Communist Party will regain power and the United States as we know it now, will cease to exist. Well, what do you think, am I wrong or right?
I agree
IRAN 🇮🇷 SIGN NOW AND COMPLY
OR ITS
GOODNIGHT .
(period)
These EU countries do not deserve more time.
A federal judge just struck down President Trump’s alternative tariff authority and pressure is building to repay the 130 billion in tariffs that SCOTUS laid the groundwork for. Our enemies are here in our courts, and I think the Europeans sense this and are slow walking any agreement in the belief that the US stupid activist judiciary will derail Trump’s attempt install fairer global trade arrangements.
July 4th Times Up
Distrust and verify!
Fact is, for those who say that Iran lies, take a look at the ‘friendly’ nations and see what they score is on truth. When a nation like Iran see such blatant disrespect, why would they consider any less.
Stop giving them time.
I think we must reach for the summit sooner than later.
No matter what happens many will be lost along the way.
This journey is not for the faint of heart.
We need to stop enabling those who wish harm upon us.
I see frustration in USTR Greer, and who can blame him.
This is the same dog and pony show the Eww always plays.
Exactly how many “gimmes” does the Eww get? They (and collectively as separate countries) have been financially raping our country for 200 years. Enough already!
‘We agreed that a regime that kills its own people cannot control a bomb that can kill millions. ‘
Really? As in, a regime that coerces its own people to accept an experimental genetic manipulation injection that is not necessary, nor safe nor effective for the stated purpose? While suppressing safe effective alternative treatments? And driving propaganda and censorship?
Then buries astronomical signals of serious harm and fatalities caused by those shots?
VAERS grossly underreported adverse events and fatalities from the modRNA shots.

Pres. Trump, put the tariffs on high and stop moving the goal post and leave them working. Only remove the tariffs after they have been cooperating for say 6 months or longer. How do we make any money back if you keep postponing the actual punishment of which they have deserved for decades. Our GDP in trillions, keep the tariffs on! Thank you for your attention in this matter! Is what I’d say to Trump, 😉
