Something is going to happen, I’m not entirely sure what it is, but something is going to happen on May 8th and 9th as Russia pauses the conflict with Ukraine to celebrate one of their most treasured holidays, Victory Day.
My spidey senses are telling me, Ukraine and the EU are planning something very controversial to coincide with this national holiday in the Russian Federation.
Germany has done this before, but this time with President Trump pulling back from NATO, this year holds a different context.
GERMANY – Berlin police published an administrative order on 6 May restricting freedom of assembly and access to public spaces in the areas around three Soviet war memorials from 06:00 on 8 May until 22:00 on 9 May.
In the restricted zones of the Treptow-Köpenick, Mitte and Pankow districts, the wearing of military uniforms and insignia is prohibited, as is the display of the letters Z and V, St George’s ribbons, flags and items bearing Russian symbols, flags of the USSR, Belarus and the Chechen Republic, and portraits of their leaders, as well as depictions of Ukraine that exclude its occupied territories.
Russian military and marching songs – including all versions of Sacred War – are also banned, along with any actions that glorify Russia’s war against Ukraine. The ban applies to everyone present in the restricted areas, regardless of whether they are participating in demonstrations or not. (more)
May 9, celebrated as Victory Day, is one of the most significant and heartfelt holidays in Russia, symbolizing resilience, unity, and remembrance. This day honors the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War. It is a time when the nation collectively reflects on its history, pays tribute to those who sacrificed their lives, and celebrates the enduring spirit of its people.
The Russian people, ordinarily invisible regular people, take historic photographs of their loved ones lost in World War II and prominently display them. Some cities and towns have marches where citizens carry those photographs during slow processions in silence. It is something rather remarkable to see and highlights a strong bond to remember just how many millions of Russians were killed during the great war.
It is more than just a day of respect, national pride and remembrance. It is a day that encapsulates the deliberate and hardened spirit of a nation. Nothing is open. The entire Russian Federation pauses to reflect on the character that defines what the word “Russian” really means. These are brutally stoic, deliberate and honest people; gifted culturally and generationally with an inability to pretend.
To the West they seem hard, but that’s not really what it is. In reality, Western cultures are enmeshed with polite indulgences that are foreign to the average Russian person. We take things for granted; they do not. We forget how good we have it, they see it. However, Russia also sees the downside to political correctness running amok, DEI and other gender-‘isms’ that create pretenses that ultimately become cultural rot and vulnerabilities.
Russians like the concept of Western ‘freedom’, yet they do not quite understand it because Russians do not respect the visible self-flagellation and suicide mission that seemingly accompanies the freedom they perceive.
Do not ever fall into the trap of romanticizing Russia, it is a hard and unforgiving culture difficult for most because Russians do not accept false politeness, nor do they respect weakness. They are very deliberate; unnervingly so, and that makes them cold.
I’ve said all that to emphasize the importance of his Victory Day holiday throughout the Russian Federation. This is not a day to disrespect Russia.
I’m not sure what snarky Zelenskyy and the cunning coalition of the willing have planned, but if they trigger a provocation that at this point seems predictable – they might not like the Russian response.
Then again, that’s likely the goal. The ‘coalition of the willing’ want to force President Trump to remain actively engaged and on their side.
Zelenskyy and his EU team are willing to provoke, then take, a massive counterstrike from Vladimir Putin against Kiev if that’s what it takes to keep the U.S. military engaged and aligned.
The Ukraine meat grinder must remain satiated in order for the EU power structures to remain in place.
This is a dangerous moment.
That picture of them all huddling around the fraud is telling…
they are all huddling around the same fraud: themselves
And the fraud actually believes they care about what he has to say. They just want war spoils when it’s over. And there are very valuable spoils to be had.
They sure seem insistent on getting their war. Pulling our troops out of Germany can’t come soon enough!
I agree and I think our servicemen are most vulnerable to a false flag episode to provoke a response from America.
For once I earnestly hope your analysis is wrong SD.
Although the pragmatic view is the EU and Ukraine are desperate to the point of partial self destruction……ruling over the ashes…..smh.
Why be so desperate. Everything they say says they are winning.
They say they are gaining ground.
And that they are killing 20 Russians for every Ukrainian that dies.
What on earth can they have to be desperate about?
It’s just a matter of time before Russia revolts and takes out Putin.
Not long at all.
If you believe what they say.
Of course, they will play up these upcoming barbarities as a great victory.
And the retaliation Putin is threatening will be played up as crimes.
A friend, years ago, who spoke and read Russian when it was the Soviet Union and translated for the Army in WWII described Russians as very pragmatic, no nonsense people.
If you dont understand them they come off as arrogant. If you do understand them theyre a great people.
Why are European nations still giving anything out of Germany any attention? Two world wars wasn’t enough?
Aside from all the financial benefits of keeping the war going, Russia provides the distraction the EU elites hope will keep their peoples focused away from their internal problems that were created by those same elites. So yes, I agree that something is going to happen. The EU elites don’t have much to offer and badly need to keep up that distraction.
Desperate leaders do Stupid things!
Thanks, Sec/War Pete,…. bring our US Troops Home from those ungrateful back stabbers.
“The Ukraine meat grinder must remain satiated in order for the EU power structures to remain in place.”
How about putting the EU power structures through the meat grinder?
There’s this thing about spiders. They can weave a very difficult and tightly knit web. Yet there is one weakness in web spinning. The spider can be killed.
Maybe, just maybe, there will be another response from Trump that they won’t like!
Two middle fingers.
If they somehow escalate something. I would tarriff EU 1000%
Or they’re gonna wave white towels standing atop a windmill
Retired Magistrate here: When I was much younger the U.S.S.R. (which included Russia) was referred to as the evil empire by President Regan. However, now it is the EU and Ukraine which are the evil empire. No, I am not looking at Russia in a “rose colored” glasses way, but in the way that Russia is proud of her heritage and sees it as a privilege to honor those who died defending Mother Russia from the Nazis.
Ukraine, the EU, the globalist central bankers, the global intelligence community, the corrupt corporate media, and our own UniParty—Evil Empire 2026
It’s always about money. Always. Anytime that particular group comes together you can bet obtaining money is heavily involved
Not only proud of their heritage, but they will never forget that over 27 million Russian soldiers and civilians died in that Great Wat to defend and preserve Mother Russia.
(BTW: my MD wife is RU, from Riga. She has told me many times how import this day is in Russia,… her father would march in the streets in his Mil uniform and medals on this day and all would honor the former soldiers. Her uncle, a RU fighter pilot is still MIA.)
It is often referred to as Mother Russia but it was the Soviet Union that fought the Germans. This included yes Ukrainians and other republics. Many of the biggest battles were fought in Ukraine. Many millions of non Russians died, sacrificed, and suffered in that war to only be treated as garbage by Moscow post war. Whatever the current state of Russia is today, it shouldn’t be forgotten what they were in those days. They were brutal murderers that far outdid anything the NAZI’s ever did. That doesn’t excuse what’s going on with Germany and Ukraine today but let’s at least keep the actual history in perspective.
Remember what we were told it’s not our war. A ‘good luck’ is as much as should be extended
The Euroweenies have forgotten that NATO nor the US are obliged to defend Ukraine or any other country that is bombed into oblivion in retaliation for their offensive attack on Russia.
May they be served their just rewards should they do so.
Watch Transistria and what they do in Hungary now.
A timely reminder for Transistria.
Speaking of which, the new NATO base in Romania would also be a place to keep an eye on.
My guess is that Russia’s response, if any, to an EU/Ukraine provocation would be to hammer Ukraine, a non-NATO country, which would allow Trump to say “It’s a non-NATO country, and there is no NATO response needed. Also, we’re exiting NATO anyway because NATO failed to support us in Iran using the same argument. So if Ukraine needs help, the little cocaine-sniffing grifter running Ukraine can beg the whiny Spaniards, the feckless Italians, and the mewling Germans to help — and good luck with that.”
Taking out energy infrastructure that connects Ukraine to the rest of Europe would be a priority target, and perhaps just the right level of FAFO to stick it to the Fourth Reich in Brussels.
Thinking the transmission lines and transformers that connect a couple of nuclear power plants to the European grid.
Brussels, London, and Washington DC—a modern day “axis of evil.”
The problem is most of CONgress, and the Enemedia would eviscerate Trump for not supporting Ukraine and a retaliation.
So….nothing different.
President Trump does only what is good for the United States, not that which the enemedia and Congress demand. Always MAGA.
Germans returning to their roots. Saying things that would’ve been perfectly acceptable back in 1939.
Holy Father in Heaven, please bless and protect the Russian people as they celebrate Victory Day.
Please thwart the evil plans of Zelenskyy and the EU. Please God, punish all those who thirst for death and destruction and who seek to profit from bloodshed.
I pray in the name of my risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Amen.
The EUnuchs are pretty well screwed.
Russia will not be kind to them.
The EU not helping in the Gulf with a true threat makes attacking Russia on the 9th a fool’s errand. Streets usually run in two directions.
The EU talks war with Russia in 2030? Like they can schedule it? More like 2040 until they rearm and by then the Islamists will be fighting them.
“The EU talks war with Russia in 2030? Like they can schedule it? More like 2040 until they rearm and by then the Islamists will be fighting them.”
To paraphrase Pogo, in 2040 the EU may, in a moment of reflection, say we has met the Caliphate, and they is us.
Robert Heinlein (himself of German decent, something I share) IIRC said there is something rotten in the heart of German culture.
I am reminded of the scene in the movie Patton, where the Russian General is drawing Patton into a toast. Some harsh words are exchanged, at which point Patton laughs and says – “That I can drink to – One son-of-a-bitch to another.”
Practical, yet respectful of power. Too many of our politicians and leaders have been neutered (yes, males and females) until Trump came along.
I would like to hear someone identify just what national interest NATO continues to hold for us.

Bingo!
I have a very bad feeling that my Navy grand baby will be fighting, just like momma and daddy did during the Iraq War years ago
I wish we had more Memorial Day activities to honor the dead from all our wars and conflicts. When I was a child, we had a small parade and then gathered at the town cemetery (it was a small town) for a couple speeches and the playing of Taps. A silent procession where people hold the pictures of their lives ones lost to war seems like a true honoring of their sacrifice..
For the Russian people…
With respect.
With prayers that if its intent is malignant and foolhardy on Russia’s sacred day that Germany and its associates think twice.
Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky
In Germany 1936 Jews were the targets.
In Germany 2026 Russians are the targets.
Things didn’t go so well with the world after 1936. May God bless and protect us.
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.”
Amen
Putin is not an idiot nor is he impulsive or reactionary.
If Z and his puppeteers want to provoke him to get the US in line Im certain Putins response will not give them what they want. And Trump certainly wont bite. We know he has an agreement with Putin over the hostilities with Iran, he wont squander that momentum. Additionally local elections in the UK are going to squeeze Starmer harder and Merz is already backpeddling on his thoughts on Iran.
Z better think carefully.
You mean his handlers?
I’d guess the possibility of a May surprise was discussed between President Trump and President Putin in their recent conversation. Both leaders understand the value of proper planning, both have their eyes fixed firmly on the strategic horizon and both respect each other, for differing but aligned reasons.
I find this all sad and disappointing.
I see this as an issue of respect, human dignity, the patriotism that we all should have for our own nations.
There is nothing wrong with all of this, to love your own people and your country, we need more of this not less of it.
Like President Trump has said many times, he wants everyone to make their own country great again.
I see this Russian holiday as them doing this.
We have similar holidays here on Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, we make these efforts to honor and be honorable.
We understand this need and importance and this something that we could have in common with Russia and any other nation that has such a day.
These points where we can find things in common today are critical when there is such division.
Any country or their leaders that would ruin this sacred day for Russia or any country trying to do this, that is quite revealing about what and who they are.
We’ll be watching and taking notes.
The older I get, the more I grow so sick of all this bullshit- quite honestly.
Zelenskyy is a menace to the world and should be seen and treated as such.
From the moment Z came on the scene, I’ve never liked him. At first I didn’t know why I felt this way but now it’s clear my senses were 100% correct. Thanks for the sunlight, Sundance
I don’t see President Trump falling for this scheme. If Ukraine attacks Russia on this day, Putin has promised to bomb Keiv. I see this as a FAFO moment. They may even pull a false flag attack from Russia on a NATO country to keep the USA involved, but is President Trump going to fall for it? I have my doubts.
Actually am getting the impression from recent avenues that Germany has been taking that dreams of renewal might be in effect. Refusing to honor those who once beat you doesn’t sound like a nation willing to live and let live. Metz appears to be dreaming of a remake of a time when German tanks rolled over just about everyone.
Try this song instead.
Der alte Dessauer
Gang discussing how much more easy it is to run a dictatorship when the population is made up of third world religious types, and how many more Ukrainians should be done away with before beginning population replacement.
Now Z, if you can just get your casualties up and birth rate down a bit more the replacement imports can begin. . .
I think Russia “could be a better allie “than Europe IS.
Perhaps Germans are done doing penance for the nazis, and see no need to celebrate another nation’s holiday commemorating Germany’s national defeat. Time to move on?
