The U.S. and Israel have been targeting deep underground missile sites within Iran, with strong success. Iranian counterstrikes, missile & drone launches are down 80 to 90 percent according to Pentagon officials.
Additionally, the Israeli military has reported they dismantled an underground bunker system in Tehran used by regime leadership. Originally the bunker was used by slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei underneath the leadership compound in central Tehran. The bunker was targeted by 50 Israeli fighter jets and subsequently destroyed.
President Trump announced via Truth Social that he will not seek any terms with Iran other than unconditional surrender.

Meanwhile, in a somewhat predictable move, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced the U.S. will lift some sanctions on Russian oil exports in order to mitigate shortfalls. India will be permitted to purchase additional Russian oil for use in their refineries. The gasoline end products will then be sold into the market.

To enable oil to keep flowing into the global market, the Treasury Department is issuing a temporary 30-day waiver to allow Indian refiners to purchase Russian oil. This deliberately short-term measure will not provide significant financial benefit to the Russian government as it only authorizes transactions involving oil already stranded at sea.
India is an essential partner of the United States, and we fully anticipate that New Delhi will ramp up purchases of U.S. oil. This stop-gap measure will alleviate pressure caused by Iran’s attempt to take global energy hostage. (more)
Strategically, it has always appeared that President Trump wanted to remove the sanctions against Russia as part of a negotiated peace deal with Ukraine. However, the intransigence of Ukraine and the EU had blocked that move. I would anticipate at some date the U.S. will use the opportunity of global need as a justification to permit more Russian oil to be sold into Western markets.
This approach will not make Ukraine or the EU happy; however, it could be structured to put petrodollars back in control of Russian oil sales. That approach would further weaken China and the BRICS assembly who have been purchasing energy products in domestic exchange currencies.
The U.S., Venezuela and Russia could increase output and replace the missing oil production from the middle east region. This would stabilize markets. Although, the politics of that approach would face stiff opposition.
What seems very likely is that Bessent, Rubio and Trump have a plan. If there’s one person in U.S. politics who understands how to use oil to financially mitigate any geopolitical impacts, it’s President Trump.
Keep an eye on Russia. Ignore the western media narratives and look for direct source information on Russian oil activity.

An unintended benefit to Trump’s highly successful (so far) military action against Iran was his recent and also highly successful military action against Venezuela because, with a U.S. friendly government replacing the Cuban lackey Maduro, he now has the option to ramp up production of Venezuelan oil for at least three purposes: 1) to ease the global oil crisis, 2) to strangle the teetering Communist government of Cuba and 3) to strengthen his demand of Iran’s total surrender.
The caveat is that many of the world’s oil refineries will have their work cut out for them by shifting to Venezuelan oil because while Venezuelan oil reserves are abundant the oil itself is notoriously dirty, heavy with sulphur and other impurities which requires more refining than with either U.S. or Russian oil. But lower-grade oil is better than no oil at all and we should remember that this is the same oil Biden was begging Maduro for when he created an oil shortage in America by his inane policies.

Maybe you should review some history. The Barbary pirates attacked shipping, took hostages, received ransoms, threatened much of the world for 30 years until James Madison had the strength to start a navy and order the piracy obliterated in 1815. I suppose you would have disagreed with James Madison too.
Madison even knew that America was tired of war since we just finished the war of 1812 but made the decision anyway. Interesting parallels between Iran and Barbary in that much of the world and it’s leaders chose appeasement and payoffs hoping the pirates would go away just like much of the world when it came to Iran.
Now to Israel. What is it about them that makes so many think they are so powerful they can make the world do their bidding? Do they have mind meld capability or some superhuman strength or magic methods of suggestion like Jedi Knights or something? Give it a break. They are civilized people who don’t want to be attacked anymore by 16th century radicals with 21st century weapons.
Just to clear up some history…
You forgot to mention about the FIRST Barbary War(1801–1805) in which US President Tho. Jefferson sent the US Navy & US Marines to stop the Barbary Pirates(<mohammedans). Thus the words in the Marines Hymn that say “to the shores of Tripoli”, in reference to that first war. Which was also the First War the US was involved in after the American Revolution.
Yes, President Madison was the one involved in the 2nd Barbary War, but not the First US President to go after these mohammedans for their treachery & terroristic behaviors.

We’ve essentially been at war with Iran for 47 years. It should have been dealt with at that time and not now. By the generations that came before. Iran should never have been allowed to carry on killing our service members or funding terrorists all over the world.
We could continue to kick this can down the road (like DC has done on just about every important issue for decades) but I personally don’t want to pass this crap on to my kids or grandkids especially WHEN (not if) Iran get themselves a big shiny nuke. Their ideology pushes the idea that they need to end of the world to bring on their version of the messiah. I don’t want them using a nuke on anyone to try and pull off that hair brained scheme.
So you can whine all day about Israel but the fact is they need to be dealt with once and for all before they become untouchable.

Like it or not, I am quite sure that the “BRICS” system will prevail. “Settlement” is a significant expense in all international transactions today, and a primary reason for this is “The US Dollar.™” Furthermore, traders rightly feel that they are not in control of these expenses. That they are being forced to “prop up” the United States with every trade. While that nation is brazenly ir-responsible in the handling of their own currency.
It only makes common sense that a trader should be able to choose where and how “settlement” should occur. Both to minimize expenses and to manage risk. These “risks” are right now very considerable, and “the United States” is why.
If traders choose to use “the United States Dollar,” then the United States should be competing for the determination that theirs is the safest and overall-best choice. But it is entirely wrong for “USD” to effectively be the “only” alternative.
So: “Like it or not,” and no matter how bad-ass your military might be, “change is coming.” And it will be better.

We’ll a lot of us have the pleasure of witnessing history and the various results of war and peace. Ulysses S Grant and Truman mandated unconditional surrender. This basic concept assures a much longer and fruitful peace for all parties vs some muddied conditional surrender. Especially if you’re unconditionally surrendering to the USA, it’s been proven to make your nation very wealthy.

Also, Baris hates the Iran war. I can’t watch him anymore as it is too upsetting. I do know this: during the last slate of primaries, the DEMS turned out in much bigger numbers than REPS, which tells me REPS may stay home in Nov.

Real Muslims are not permitted to surrender to their enemies. They are permitted to have ‘Truces’ and ‘Ceasefires’ with them. A ‘Ceasefire’ can last as long as ten years. This gives them time to regroup and rearm so they can attack their enemy again.
The U.S. and Israel have been targeting deep underground missile sites within Iran, with strong success. Iranian counterstrikes, missile & drone launches are down 80 to 90 percent according to Pentagon officials.
As Sundance always notes, be skeptical. Given the Iranian foreign ministers remarks that they are waiting for a ground invasion, I would surmise there is more deadly weapons hidden away we don’t even know about that Iran is just sitting on.
I would speculate further that shortly after the US and Israel become confident and a bit complacent, Iran will roll out some surprises. Their strategy for years has been to overwhelm the US and Israel with many different attack angles, until something gets through. With this in mind, there is no way anyone will find and destroy everything.
Also, if they are truly waiting for a ground attack, what have they hidden away for that?
